A great no frills nail salon in Chinatown! Happy to have stumbled upon this place in Manhattan. It's so hard to find reasonably priced and acrylic nail tip places in New York now a-days. Good Choice staff provided me with great service. I highly recommend calling and making an appointment ahead a time. I made my reservation for 4 pm on a Thursday, arrived a little early so had to wait a bit but for seen around 3:45 and was done with my acrylic gel tips by 4:30 pm. My nail technician did a decent job and even gave me a hand lotion as a Christmas present before I left which was super sweet. I will definitely be coming back to this place. read more

my new go to nail salon!! very quick and friendly service, i got a gel pedicure and gel acrylic nails and i was in and out in an hour. my total was $82 before tip - $47 for acrylics and $35 for gel pedicure. very reasonably priced. they are cash only so make sure to bring enough! read more

Absolutely do not go here under any circumstance. They cut my cuticle so deep that I am still bleeding out and it has been an hour and a half since I was there. She put an undisclosed ointment on my cut to "make the bleeding stop" without consent. And it did not help instead it just numbed my finger. Also.... They abuse their dog. The dog was weeping and who I assume was the owner was harming it in the back. They should not be in business. I left mid appointment because I was so angry about the dog and did not pay them a cent. They should be out of business. read more

Love this place!!! I've been coming to them for over 2 years now and they do the best job for a very affordable price! Jason did my newest set the blue and white nails and always does a wonderful job! his wife did my brown set! they are both so great! they always do my nails in a fast timely manner while doing a fabulous job! i tell everyone about them, the best nail salon i have found living in nyc! if you're looking for great acrylic sets for an affordable price, this is the best place to come to! read more

Called earlier this morning for a 5:30pm appointment and they were able to accommodate me on the same day. I arrived on time and was attended to right away, no wait. Like other Yelpers have said, this salon is no frills. It's very small, dated and has only 3 nail stations and 2 pedicure chairs. Do not come to this salon if you are expecting to be treated like royalty because you will be disappointed. They do not use liners in the pedicure bath and spend little to no time massaging you. My nail tech was quick and still managed to do an amazing job, my pedi and gel mani was done in just 40 minutes. I dont like spending a lot of time at the salon, so this was the perfect find for me. The pedicures are $20 and gel manicures are $28, very reasonably priced for a nail salon in Manhattan. Dont forget to bring enough cash- they're cash only. There is an ATM right outside but there's always shady people hanging around outside, so I'd be careful. Would recommend for anyone looking for a place that is quick and affordable. read more

Connie squeezed me in on a SATURDAY and did my nails in 20 minutes. I was in a rush to get my nails done for vacation so this was a godsend! I got acrylics tips with gel polish and it was $40. I think regular polish is $30 for acrylics but I highly suggest gel cause it dries instantly after cured. Posted some pics of my nails after 7+ days and you can see they've held up really nicely. Connie told me she's been doing nails for 20+ years! Can't beat the price and the quality - my new go to nail spot. They did ask me to make a reservation next time, so call first because it's a super small space. Near the m15 and F train. And no they don't ask people to write Yelp reviews; it's deff an older group of nail techs so they are really not great with tech and I didn't hear them ask any of the people leaving to write a review - it was very in and out for everyone there. Some speak English some don't but generally friendly. read more

Went here for the first time because I was in the neighborhood. As soon as I stepped in, it smelled poisonous, the chemical or acetone was overwhelming and I couldn't breathe the whole time. Place was very small and not pleasant. But the price for gel ($30) was cheaper than everywhere else. I decided to give it a try. My nails were done in like 15 mins!! The fastest ever and turned out great. If you're not here for an experience or feel pampered and want your nails done quickly, this place is it. But I'm not sure if I would be returning again. read more

Saw relatively good reviews on Yelp mostly about good customer service and prices and came to try with my sister. Got a gel manicure for $27 (before tip), which is a decent price. It's around $12 for a normal manicure. They also offer other services (see photo - August 2020). The woman who helped me was quick, efficient, and detail-oriented. The general procedure (cut nails round or square, file away, cut cuticles, buff nails, paint nails + dry nails x 3, alcohol to dry, cuticle cream, hand cream, towel). Whole process was painless and surprising took 15-20 minutes only! We came without an appointment and although we were squeezed into the tight schedule, the service was excellent. My sister requested fake nails and that process took much longer, as expected. Nice local shop, lots of regulars. Small facility (maybe 20 SQ feet rectangle), smells pretty strongly of polish but ventilated and air conditioned, six work stations (four for manicures, two for pedicures). As in previous posts this is a no frills nail salon. Needs updating but prices are decent. I came in for a mani/pedi for a wedding later - the owner was accommodating and gave me an appt that morning. They did a nice gel nail job which I was pleased. Equipment seemed to be in good shape and tools were sterile. During my stay several other women walked-in but had to be turned away since they didn't have an appt. read more

Rude, rushed, no massage with pedicure. I wasn't given an option for a higher quality pedicure. I did request a callus remover which she did reluctantly. It was only $7 extra. Place was old and dirty. Wouldn't be surprised if I get an infection. It's true, you get what you pay for. read more

Writing this review as I'm walking out the store and I must say I'm dissatisfied. I came here because it was close to my school and I needed to get my nails during my break between classes and this was my only free time since I'm leaving for vacation before the week is over. First off, the store is extremely small and not up to date but that's not my problem. I had Connie do my nails since everyone said how great she is. I went in for a fill in w/ gel. She took literally 15 mins to do my whole fill in now normally that would be great since I'm in a crunch for time but my nails looked uneven and crooked and it was her doing I know because my nails looked fine before I walked in. She also seemed annoyed not sure why but as a customer it was off putting. I told her I like my nails thin and she continued to make them thick. She rushed my nails to move on to another customer and had Jason finish painting them. He as well rushed and left nail polish on my cuticles. The only perk was it was only $29. No frills kind of nail salon. Maybe 3-4 seats and techs at most. I had a mani pedi for $25 and the fastest I had ever had them done with precision. They are busy here so I wouldn't plan on doing your girls spa day here or anything. My nails lasted for almost 2 weeks during my travels, and they weren't even gels. Would definitely come again. read more

Came here with a friend since it was close to her and she's had her nails done here before. Wasn't expecting a super amazing finish for the price (which was great), but also didn't expect such a poor nail job or attitude. The nail polish by my cuticles was messy and uneven so I had asked the lady doing my nails to fix it; in return I got a look and a rude "what's wrong with it?" Picture speaks for itself.. she didn't bother fixing it, and if it weren't for the convenience, I might've done a better job myself. Gave 2 stars because yes, price was unbeatable I guess. read more

I went toward the end of the day during the weekday & needed my nails done badly for not an outrageous price. The guy was the one who did my nails. He was friendly, listened to the fact that I wanted the acrylic layer to be thin and not thick. Since I was probably one of the last customer, he didn't really rush my nails & gave my nails that extra needed attention. 4 stars cause the bathroom was out of order and it wasn't the cleanest, but since when was NYC really that clean . I love this place! It's not luxurious but the nail techs are great at their work and take care of your nails. The price point is unmatchable based on my experience - the pictured fresh full set cost me $30 with a soak-off of my prior acrylic AND gel polish set included, in addition to the shaping, which other salons often charge separately for. Cash only! 10/10 recommend. Also, there's a wine & liquor store right next door that sells $2 personal bottles of wine lol, get that then get your nails done here and thank me later! read more

**I'm eating pizza as I'm typing which explains the crummy (get it) nails. My cuticles were like that before I came in and they left them alone. :-) This place is a hidden gem! 2 of us (walked in) for acrylics and they saw to us straight away! As of 2/5/18, their acrylic price is $22-30 and we paid $22 each (excluding tip). Carly/Carlie got both of us in and out within 30 minutes! We ended up being the last customers in the store (they close at 7pm) and Jason kindly waited with us outside until our Uber picked us up. 100% recommend this place! read more

Run.. run.. run This place is dirty, horrible customer service, the nail tech did not have a nail license to be working in New York. My nails are horrible, never in my life I had such a bad job done to my full acrylic set. I left there and went somewhere else to have my nails fixed. They are rude! The worst! When I first entered the store with my friend, we were immediately given an unfriendly welcome by a lady yelling at us to put our umbrellas in a bucket at the front door. The same lady who scolded us worked on my acrylic set and it was clear that she was rushing through everything from start to finish. She especially, was doing a sloppy job on the polish and seemed like she just wanted to get everything over with. I had to call the place back to see if they could redo one of my acrylic nails because it was completely crooked and looked super odd. The person who picked up was a man and nicely told me that there would be no cost in fixing it. So what did I do? I came back with high hopes that they could fix the issue. Coming in, when I told one of the employees that I was there for an acrylix nail fix. He was friendly when he asked if I made the phone call and I replied yes. However, when I sat down for approximately 5 minutes, the same lady came up to me and demanded what the issue was. In almost exact words "What do you want? What is wrong?" I explained to her and asked if it was okay if she could redo it. She proceeded to yell at me infront of everybody present in the store, stating how it's technically my fault. Saying how, it's because my own nail grows crooked. Really? Are you serious? When she looked at my nail she had a clear reaction where she realized she messed up. Instead of taking responsibility, she decided to think that quickly filing it could help. It clearly did not and made no difference. The fact that she blamed me for the poor job she did on my ring finger is unbelievable. Since when did one of my nails grow all the way to one side? read more

I liked my nails! Pretty quick place and I was able to make an appointment last minute with the owners which i appreciated. I got acrylic nails done with glitter (extra $5) so total was $30 without tip which is a really good price. I think it was a nice job for the price, and the type of place that is really efficient with your time, but it did feel a bit rushes. Hmm I will post a picture and you judge for yourself if it's a good job for 25$ gel mani. Obviously tip is not included. It's great deal if you don't mind cleaning spilled gel in your cuticles afterwards. You save apx 5 bucks. Did it today, so not sure how long it will last. read more

I've had two great manicures by Roger at Good Choice for Nails so far; one set of acrylics ($26) and one set of infills ($19). My first manicure looked great and lasted all the way through to getting the infills done. Great selection of colors, too. Affordable, fast and good quality. Pretty basic salon, but great for the price! I'd recommend calling ahead as they can get busy around lunch time; I heard some walk-ins get told there was a 3hr wait. Oh Boy was this a once-in-a-lifetime experience! By that I mean that I have never been treated the way I was here (in a bad way). The people are not professional at all. They took a total of 2 minutes to do a $30 worth gel manicure which left my fingers and nails bleeding, color peeling off, and cuticles and hangnails bothering me. I will not be coming back for sure! I sincerely recommend you look for other places. I have no idea why people are complaining about this place. Sure, it doesn't look fancy, but you are not paying $100 for a manicure either. They are very fast, my nails alway last for more than a month(I know, I am very lazy) and the price is super reasonable. I bet you can't find other places with such incredible price in Manhattan. See all the pictures that I posted- don't they look super sweet? You can either come with a picture from Pinterest or ask them do a design for you, they all looked great. I always come in to get everything done (eyebrow, matching finger nails and toe nails) and each time I pay less than $100 including tips. Staffs in here are super friendly and welcoming. Getting an appointment is easy and they could squeeze me in the same day most of the time. So what do you want more? A glass of champagne that cost you extra $300 and shitty nails? My friend and I stopped by here since we were in the neighborhood and wanted to get our nails done. We noticed that most of the comments mentioned that the prices are cheaper than most places in Manhattan, so we decided to stop by here. First impression is that this place is quite small and the place was pretty packed when we stopped by. They said that they would do our nails even though we did not have an appointment. This place did not have that many gel color options compared to most places, so we decided to go with the classic french manicure. We waited about 30 minutes before they got to us, but they did finish our manicure pretty fast, in about 15 mins and that is including taking off my gel manicure. The manicure looked pretty decent when we left, but I found that it did not hold up well, I think my gel manicure started peeling in about 1.5 weeks when normally my gel manicures least about 3 weeks. Overall, this manicure place gets the job done if you just want to go in for a manicure and leave, and the prices aren't that bad compared to other places in Manhattan, but I have other manicure places that I like a lot better in Brooklyn. read more

Great place for the price. Had an appointment for 2 but they didn't get to me till about 2:20 because they were busy. I would recommend making an appointment. Great price for NYC. Paid 25 dollars for acrylic tips with regular two coats of Essie polish and topcoat. They have a lot of colors and were quick in doing my nails. They didn't try to shape my nail beds or anything which I wish they did since I have terrible nail beds but okay for the price!! read more

I just got my first acrylics done here and she does them super fast and they're so dang awesome! I don't even know how she managed to do it with my bitten short nails. Since the last time I came here, a new lady started working here, and she's also super nice. The place is very welcoming, however the phone call isn't as awesome as you'd expect. Acrylics are $21 for a full set, I paid $4 as a tip. I'll be coming back here soon to get my nails fixed in a few weeks. Manicures are $8, and it's the best! If you do come here, ask for Connie! She's the nicest and most awesome person there! And the new lady(who's name was never mentioned to me) showered me with compliments, lol. The place is pretty small, and with the good business, I think they're going to move to a bigger place, or simply make the salon bigger. Trust me, I've been coming here for a year now. Super quick and cheap. $50 for new set of acrylic with nail tip and ombré colors. I got a lot of compliments from my friends. The lady was nice too. But really gross inside. They used the same nail file and cuticle clipper... I could see the previous clients cuticle on the clippers. My bad that I didn't say anything tho, but man! So I bought my own tools for next time. read more

I wanted to love it given the many reviews and stars, however I was extremely disappointed. I was a walk in and requested a manicure with nail extensions and a cateye gel design, and experienced all the issues below 1. When the gel x nails were applied, too much glue was added on 4/5 nails on my right hand which caused my skin to burn when putting it under the light. I asked 2x to file away the excess glue as having it touching your skin and encapsulating your natural nail is unsafe, and it was not properly addressed. She started with attempting to dig it out/separate the glue from my skin using nail clippers which hurt and pierced it. And when I asked the second time, she simply filed it with a regular file so it was flat filled surface underneath my nail. 2. My nail extension was filed crooked. When I asked for it to get fixed, they attempted to but ultimately caused the nail to appear weird. 3. They were unable to create any of the designs I asked for. Nor was anything really explained in terms of what could be done. (The person next to me was given a few options and asked for her preference). 4. After I left, I noticed the top coat had a bubble on one of the fingers. I am usually not really the type to be super bothered on small details like design, shape, and issues with the top coat as I understand some things can be missed. However, I chose to get my nails done (rather than doing them myself) for the safety of a professional and correct application. I can overlook all the issues except that. Overall, I would not be returning nor do I feel comfortable for them to fix it. I am just disappointed and needed to share for those who may have similar concerns or thoughts. 2 stars are for the vibe, cleanliness, kindness, and good cuticle work.

Nothing kills the vibe of a relaxing nail treatment than being crammed in next to chatty customers--especially when many other seats are open.

The salon also didn't look or smell like a typical nail salon. It was super cozy with warm lighting, wood accents and a great smelling candle burning. CJ was also very lovely and helpful. She assisted me with choosing between two colors since I had a hard time deciding. I would recommend!

She took an impressive amount of time on my acrylic nails and they were so well done. The price is UNBEATABLE. NYC is so unaffordable for nails this is unmatched. $75 for sns with extensions and $40 for a gel pedicure with taking off old gel. It definitely gets overlooked bc the outside is kind of hidden but I will be recommending to everyone I know so that it's not!
