I always wanted to go to this place but I was thinking to be creative and order items I usually don't order. The ambiance is very cozy and beautiful, I love the wall arts there! The server we had was nice and really helpful with choices. The drinks were crafted charmingly! I do suggest you to ask your server to offer you the spicy drinks! The beef tarter was good but I expected a bigger portion. The star of the show is the BURGER. This BURGER is definitely ONE of THE BEST BURGERS I have ever had. Even though this place has variety of steaks, I think the burger is also an AMAZING choice. Anddd, the truffle fries, Just order items even if you don't want them haha. Bravo!

This is my first time back to One Yorkville since 6 years ago. I always have high expectations in One. Located inside The Hazelton Hotel, one of the upscale hotels in the heart of Yorkville. We ordered miso black cod, 8oz grass fed tenderloin and garlic mushroom. I would put 3.5 to 4 stars for One Yorkville, the reason being is the side order mushroom. Both mains are great, but not wow. The side order mushroom can taste the burning. It is definitely not executed properly. The chef must forget the mushroom, it is way overcooked and burnt. Overall, I am pleased with the black cod, one of the best in Toronto. Only if I would want to have the cod again, or else I might not come back.

I have been excited to try this restaurant for quite some time now, no matter what time of the day it is, they are very busy! The reviews are awesome plus they definitely aren't cheap so I was extra excited to come try. Firstly - mid summer afternoon time is not a time a restaurant should turn off their cooling system. The bar area was full of people and the air was stale and smelled like sweat. There are so many flies, big AND small. Once the food arrived, I was constantly trying to protect my food and at one point my hand came in contact with the fly. It was disgusting and I was afraid to leave my food unattended to go wash my hand in the washroom. Once my party and I were seated, we were left unattended for an uncomfortably long time, probably around 10 minutes. This was when they asked if we wanted water and discovered that half the table setting wasn't even ready. Service continued to be just okay - even your local diner is better. The main indoor seating area looks beautiful and the food is great - but $75 for black cod, $23 for plain Caesar I was expecting a better experience. I really sure hope some of those little flies didn't end up in my food though.

Came for late sunday brunch. Pancakes were amazing. Didnt get a pic. Tacos were juicy and delicious. Beet salad was small-ish. Over all food is top notch. Little issue is flies and bees and bugs that even come inside. Had to shoo and sadly kill one which came and sat on my kid's head.

(Nov 18, 2019 - Catching up on reviews)- Wow! That is all I can say. But I'll say more. This is absolute perfection in a restaurant. Awesome food. Great service. Perfect ambiance. And Linda. Can't say enough about Marc McEwan's vision and his One restaurant. This is what all good restaurants should be. Parking: NA. Service: 5/5. Presentation: 5/5. Ambience: 5/5. We were staying at the Hazelton hotel and decided to try this place out. The place was always busy so we made reservations through our hotel. We got the option to sit in the front or under the awning. We chose awning because the front was to crowded. Even were I was sitting my chair kept getting knocked. The outside seating was huge but the tables are very close to each other. This was a Saturday at 3:30. The service was very good. We wanted a light meal so we chose the Chicken chopped salad. We ordered extra dressing on the side. It was definitely a perfect choice. Also tried the sangria which was really good! Definitely will come back.

I'm an avid believer in treating yoself, and what better way than a visit to this Yorkville staple! I love how their menu items are generally consistent and they have a gorgeous patio with brunch options as well. For this occasion we ordered: Mini lamb chops: These were actually delicious and cooked to perfection, topped with a souvlaki marinade, tzatziki and lemon Grilled scallops "carbonara", this was essentially a grilled scallop with a creamy sauce, it was good but I was expecting something different due to the name Lobster spoons: These were dissapointing as the lobster was overcooked and the amount of butter was a bit much/heavy Yellowfin tuna sashimi: Taste wise it was just okay, I felt the tuna wasn't that high quality and the flavor profiles were lacking a bit Truffle fries: topped with parmesean and truffle aoili, these were crispy and well seasoned and actually to die for, not to mention the actual shaved truffle pieces ontop Steak tartare: This was good and the crostini was perfect sized and slightly toasted Oysters: served in the classic way with mignonette, horseradish and cocktail sauce, they were fresh and not fishy 400 OZ Tomahawk: This was cooked to medium-rare perfection. And I love how they included a side of bone marrow cause YUM The service is also fantastic, ambiance great and decor modern. Most of the items we had were good, and I would recommend giving it a try for a special occasion (or no occasion at all )

This was my third time here and it never disappoints! I will definitely be coming back. The servers are always so great and attentive. They are quick to resolve any issues as well. The truffle fries are definitely the star of the meal. They are the best truffle fries I have ever tried. The garlic aioli they are paired with are also amazing. The lobster spoons were also a stand out. They are delicious and perfectly buttery. The hummus and the vegetables tasted so fresh. Oysters are also amazing. Not my favourite place for them and they are on the expensive side, but they were fresh and perfectly shucked.

My favorite spot in Yorkville! Me and my friend decided to visit last week and was elated to see that they have tents and a whole bunch of heaters to keep everyone warm. They kept everyone socially distanced as well. My favorite is their tuna sashimi but I thought I'd try something else instead. I ordered the Korean chicken tacos and a side of truffle fries. I've been really into Moscow mules so I got their mocktail version and added alcohol to it (it was so good!). Defiantly will be visiting again soon before winter comes!

My friend and I decided to come here for no particular occasion because he was tempted by the pictures on Instagram from this restaurant. I emailed the restaurant to make a reservation and since my friend wanted to have the food all on a wooden platter, I emailed the restaurant if they could make that arrangement. I had the pleasure to talk to Reilly for two weeks before the reservation upon our accommodation. I don't normally go to these places but it is a great place to try at least once. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful, lots of decoration. We ordered: lobster spoons spicy tuna tartare steak frites classic sauce 5ox tenderloin mac & cheese sweet pea risotto Everything was enjoyable but we felt that the mac & cheese and the risotto were our least favorites while the steak frites and lobster spoons were a hit! The complementary bread they give before the food were warm and delicious. Kim, our server, gave exceptional service as she kept coming back to ask if everything was ok.

If I had to sum up my experience of dining at One restaurant in one word, it would have to be "absurd". I came for Winterlicious dinner. I'd made the reservation on the very first day that bookings were permitted i.e. 3 weeks in advance. My +1 and I were seated on what seemed to be a temporary makeshift table on the side of the room next to a common walkway, thus impeding the path of staff and guests. The leg of my chair was accidentally kicked 4 times during the evening whilst the back of my boyfriend's chair was incessantly knocked all through the night. Meanwhile there were other tables left vacant, better located and had cushioned seating as well as a small stand beside the table to place your personal belongings which we did not have. Furthermore our chairs were stiff and wooden-like and our table had a patterned tablecloth covering it, which did not match the decor of the rest of the tables in the room. I looked underneath to find, to my disbelief, a very worn out table with its surface chipped all around the rim. Wow. So not only did this restaurant have a table that blocks people's path, ensuring the diners are given a "bumpy ride" but they also used a table that was in such a state you wouldn't even find it at a garage sale, all the while attempting to cover up their sins with a tablecloth. I shouldn't have to point out to a restaurant let alone a high-end one in the middle of Yorkville that not only was this table poorly planned and an embarrassment but that the use of such a tablecloth is also unhygienic as the servers kept placing cutlery directly onto it when it is clear that such a thick and deeply patterned cloth was not a typical one that could be replaced and cleaned. In addition I could not help but feel like we'd been cast aside and relegated to this "pop-up" table because I had specified "Winterlicious" on my reservation. I much prefer a restaurant to be able to capture my attention with their food rather than any other aspect of the dining experience but alas not only was the food quite unremarkable but the most noticeable facet of it was that the portions throughout their Winterlicious menu were so small that they were irrefutably not enough to satisfy anyone expecting a half-decently-sized meal. The 3 courses they served were the size you would expect in a tasting menu consisting of at least 6, if not 9 items. Perhaps One is a novice at Winterlicious or at satisfying anyone with a normal-sized appetite? Their main clientele appeared to be those who were more interested in drinking and pretending to eat. The main entree entitled: "Snake River Farms Wagyu" containing braised brisket ravioli just consisted of 3oz wagyu beef and 1 mere piece of ravioli. (Note the actual entree on their daily menu would yield 6oz of wagyu beef which is already small for a main course). The so-called "apple sundae" was more frozen sour cream than anything else, whilst the "S'mores brownie" could be more accurately described as a slim piece of chocolate brownie beside a couple of charred pieces of marshmallow accompanied by a random strand of watercress. My most entertaining point of the evening was when I got to witness "absurdity" in action: I saw staff lift a fully-set table for 2, decked with wine glasses and all the usual trimmings like cutlery and napkins, off the floor and through the walkway to the bar area of the restaurant. This could've been a scene out of a comedy-sketch it looked that silly. Those glasses could easily have toppled and smashed to the floor and spontaneous furniture arranging is not what you'd expect from a reputable restaurant. We later passed the same table on the way out and it wasn't even occupied. Other observations included how a staff member dropped a menu on the floor and then another staff member passing did not pick it up, how noone once asked us how the food or our experience was (which may have been a blessing in disguise considering how badly things were going), and how even for a place that presents itself as being upmarket they did not introduce each dish upon serving it, nor were there any doormen to greet you and help you with their 2 sets of front doors. There were no small bites to start the meal nor petit fours after the meal, nothing was extraordinary about the food, the ambience was simply dark and anticlimactic, and the atmosphere around our table was unsettling with all the people rushing by. At best, this is a place to have a drink to drown your sorrows and put up a front with whomever you're with, pretending that you have taste and have nothing better to do with your money. I wouldn't even call this a restaurant; it is essentially a self-indulgent bar that serves disproportionately small-expensive portions of food that they attempt to dress up nicely, (much like their waiters), to mask the fact that everything is below-par, and in reality you can get better food, atmosphere and service almost anywhere else in Toronto especially at that price bracket.

We were seated very promptly, and our server took care to attend to my friend's allergy. She even asked to change my friend's cutlery when another server brought the wrong salad. My appetizer was a hot-smoked salmon pâté, which was ok by itself, but eaten with the pickles gave it that taste I wouldn't forget. I chose for my main the Petit Roast Dinner; the cut was excellent, full of flavour and juicy to boot. The gravy for said cut just brought the roast to another level. The sides were delicious as well, especially the crispiness of the potatoes. A clean plate was the end result! Finally to finish the meal, I chose the chocolate banoffee cheesecake - I never pass on any cheesecake when it's offered. And it didn't disappoint! Now, if this were a taqueria, I would not be impressed with the tacos. So if you are expecting "proper" tacos, don't order them. Go to a taqueria, lol. The first course was Labneh with bread, hummus, & beef tartare. Second course was Lamb pide & pear salad. Third course was grilled branzino, middle eastern fried chicken, black truffle rice, and thrice cooked fries. Then there was dessert which was chocolate mousse cake & baklava. Because of my many food allergies the main server for our table was very attentive & specific in asking me what I wanted as modifications. For example I got a wagyu beef pide instead of the lamb. Every dish was really delicious, presented well & quite filling. I couldn't eat all of the food. Though I tried almost everything. Service: The pacing of the dishes was quite masterful. They really paid attention to when the food was going to come out. As I mentioned above the main server was very attentive to my food allergies. I really appreciated that as some restaurants aren't as attentive. The food was served family style so everyone could take what they wanted from the serving dishes. The dishes were served in little bowls along the tables with each bowl serving about 4 people. We had asked for one long table so it was a little snug. But we made it work. Ambiance: For dinner the lighting of the space is really dim. LOL. I would have appreciated just a little bit more light. The restaurant is in an old building so to use the washroom you had to go down two flights of stairs. The dining area is small also. But it's a pretty space. As mentioned above we asked for one long table to seat 15 people. I was expecting square tables but it was a bunch of small round tables pushed together. So the tables were really crowded with food from all the dishes. But the servers made sure to take empty serving dishes away as soon as possible. The music was a little loud for me so I had to yell to be heard. The place was packed though. Everyone at our table enjoyed the food, the service & atmosphere. The restaurant is close to Roy Thompson Hall & the other theatres nearby so it's a convenient location as well. It's too bad this place is only open for dinner. I would have loved to see how they would operate a lunch time service. In any case, Byblos was amazing. I would come back here again to try other dishes! Note: Some of my pics of the main dishes didn't turn out so it's mostly desserts that are pictures

Definitely the kind of spot that works for a night out, drinks with friends, or a late dinner. If you go, do not skip the spicy vodka rigatoni. I would come back just for that.
