Went to this place not thinking much aside from a review/video. To my surprise their food tasted amazing and had big portion too. Service was ok and the place was ok too.

If you're in Richmond and craving a hearty, affordable meal with a nostalgic Hong Kong-style twist, One Cafe in Parker Place is a must-try. Nestled in the bustling food court, this unassuming spot delivers big on flavor and value. I stopped by for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the variety on the menu. I went with the satay beef with instant noodle and a classic Hong Kong-style milk tea/coffee--a combo that hit all the right notes. The beef was tender and flavorful, the broth rich and comforting, and the milk tea had that perfect balance of creaminess and strength. The portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable (most meals under $10!). Service is fast and efficient, even during the busy lunch rush. Seating is typical food court style--nothing fancy--but the food more than makes up for it.

Creamy Baked Chicken

One Cafe is a traditional Hong Kong cafe located inside the food court of Empire Centre mall. We ordered the New York Steak ($12.5) which came with two pieces of toasted bread, scrambled eggs and a thin but large slice of beef with gravy. The meat lover combo was ok and reflects the price well. The baked chicken with rice in curry sauce ($15.5) was delicious! The portion size was massive and could serve two people. While the sauce was rich and creamy with a thick slice of chicken. Food: 3/5 Price: 5/5 Service: 3/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 Parking: Free mall parking Would I return? YES *Pro Tip: Order early! There's usually a line-up and may take 20-30 minutes.

My dad (who is from Hong Kong) was craving HK style breakfast one day so we went out in search of it! He specifically wanted One Café. There are two locations, one in Parker Place and one in Empire Centre. We arrived at around 11:30am and it was starting to get busy. We ordered a few items and waited for about 10 minutes for everything to be ready. By the time we got our food, there was a looong line-up of people waiting to order and to get their food. The staff were efficient and incredibly busy so there wasn't much service, but that is also expected at a food court stall. We ordered the Signature Sacha Beef with rice noodle ($9.50), Shredded Pork with Salted/Preserved Vegetables on rice noodle ($8.50), Pan Fried Chicken that came with toast and eggs ($10), and a Pineapple Bun with Egg ($5.50). The first 3 dishes also came with a free hot coffee or milk tea! This breakfast was comforting, homey, and definitely hit the spot. It was flavourful and simple, but delicious. The dish that stood out most to me was the Pan Fried Chicken because it managed to stay super crispy on the outside and it was so tender on the inside, even though it was covered with a gravy sauce. The Pineapple Bun with scrambled eggs was a fantastic combo. The slightly sweet and soft bread paired with savoury fluffy eggs were such a delight. In this day and age, and economy, this breakfast spot is a great deal. We will definitely be back!!

Great deals. Cash only like most Richmond places. Decent line up on weekends but still quite fast. Had chicken + rice noodles , toast scrambled eggs , and pineapple bun + butter. Bun was soft and warm , eggs were cooked perfectly , chicken soup was alright pretty plain next time I'll try a different combo meal. Also had ice lemon tea. Check the menu while you're waiting , some items are only available after 2 pm when you order by themselves , I couldn't order just a pineapple bun + egg but could order it as a side dish in the morning ‍. My order was $18

came by here for a hk style breakfast! I got their all day pork chops meat lover combo ($11) and it was delicious! I added $1 to make it a cold milk tea but the portions on everything was great - the drink was huge and it came with two pieces of toast and eggs. The food was both cheap and delicious. It is self serve in a food court but I have no qualms! I would definitely come back to eat here.

takeout curry chicken cutlet over rice and white sauce panko fish over spaghetti casseroles

HK cafe food stall in the Parker Place food court. This is one of the most popular stalls at that food court, and common to see line ups during lunch and even dinner hours. They serve HK style western food like pork chops/chicken cutlets over rice or spaghetti, cream or tomato soup etc. They take debit card or cash. I have tried a few of their baked casserole rice and spaghetti options and those are pretty good. I prefer the tomato sauce to their white sauce, but both are decent, and have very good portions for the price. I definitely can't finish one casserole in one sitting. Also tried their curry chicken cutlet casserole, and that was tasty, although it was more spicy than I expected from a HK/Cantonese place. Casseroles do take 20-30 min to bake, so if you are hurry you are better ordering something else from their menu.

Comfort food :). But the veg was pretty hard still...

=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE Maybe it was just an off-day during the holiday season? Maybe it was because it was 3:00 pm during this visit and the staff were tired? It was OK - the constant line-up of people and fellow Yelpers suggest the food should be good...I'll just have to try again as my experience was meh to bad... === 2. FOOD Instant Noodle Combo I chose spam and well, it's hard to screw up. Thankfully, the soup wasn't too salty, the noodles and spam were fine, but I think the sprinkling of mixed vegetables were previously frozen and perhaps should have been thrown into the soup a lot sooner? They were still hard... Fried Instant Noodle Combo I chose the green onion-chicken steak combo: just be prepared for a lot of green onions / strong taste. I'm ok with it, but two thoughts dominate the culinary experience: the noodles were nice but salty and the chicken steak was perhaps cooked too long - unfortunately dry on all sides. The honey-lemon water drinks: yikes! The wrong mix I think - it tasted like some sort of soup was mixed with honey - it wasn't even the correct colour, but the lady at the counter (not the usual one taking orders) made and insisted it was correct. Definitely not like honey-lemon from any other food stall or restaurant in town. The milk tea was ordered with no sugar, but came very sweet - :S === 3. SERVICE Apart from the challenges above, the service of the food was reasonably quick given the very busy nature of the place. English can be used, but the staff member in front was definitely more comfortable with Cantonese or Mandarin. === 4. ENVIRONMENT It's a food stall in Parker Place - so if you like the aged yet bright look, you've got it :). Wheelchairs and baby stroller fit though are a tight squeeze. I wish you luck in the parking department as it's often busy and the spots seem more narrow than normal parking spots.

A very typical HK-like Cha Chan Teng dining experience. Don't expect English help...bring a canto speaker if you have to. I've had a 4 star experience here and a 2 star experience here. So I'm going to average it to 3. Overall the value is really good. The first time I came (weekday 2pm). There was a mini line up. Food came pretty quickly minus the baked pork chop on rice which they warned would take 25 minutes. It took about 35 minutes. Food was absolutely delicious though and the milk tea was pretty good. And my baked pork chop on rice was absolutely worth the wait. It was a bit hard to find a table to sit down at, but you just have to use your eagle eyes and wait patiently. Hands down - 4 stars. Today I went again (Saturday 11:30pm). The line up to wait for food was long, but relatively quick. I did not opt for the baked pork chop on rice this time cause the sea of people is ridiculously scary. They told me the wait would be around 10 minutes. I waited around 35 minutes for my simple A1 & A5. They're so crazy busy I feel bad for them. An unending line up that sort of merges with the people (I.e. me) waiting for take away. And an unending stream of phone calls for pick up of food. The wait in itself isn't "TOO" much of an issue for me. But the food and milk tea this time wasn't as good, and they forgot my toast, which I paid extra for :( All I've learned from this is that I don't think I'll come again during the weekends. Or during prime lunch hour. Or maybe never opt for take out here again. But overall, value is still there. And although food not as good as last time when they weren't crazy busy, it's still pretty good. Lol.

This place is consistently busy. Line up for order is not bad but wait for food is longer. I already avoided the 15-20 minute wait for baked rice and opted for a simple beef satay vermecelli instead. Still, it took about 10 minutes. Of course, the trade off is you get a mice hot bowl of soup noodle. The beef was especially tender. Almost too soft actually. Perhaps a bit much on baking soda. For the price of 8.50 that includes a hot drink, this place is reasonable. I added $1 for a cold drink which was nice.

Cantonese breakfast options have become quite expensive. Dim sum regularly costs $50 for 3 people, and my parents and I were searching for a more affordable option, so naturally Asian food courts came to mind. They're good for a quick, cheap, no-frills meal. This particular place is the busiest of all the food stalls. I got here at 9 am and I was still third in line! I got their all-day breakfast meat-lover combo which was a cutlet fish fillet with scrambled eggs, toast, and a hot milk tea for just $9.50. The eggs were so soft and the fish cullet was fried really well, not over done. The toast was buttered with chives I think which was really interesting and yummy! I'll definitely visit again. Just be sure to get here early or expect a wait!

Baked spaghetti in meat sauce

This HK cafe place is located in Parker Place food court and is generally very busy. Expect to line up and wait a while for your food. I've been here many times now and have tried lots of items on their menu. I'm not really a fan of their traditional HK breakfast - i.e. macaroni in soup, toast, etc. I also feel that you are able to get these food elsewhere without the long queue. The items on their baked menu as well as on their meat on rice/spaghetti menu are all quite good, except for the baked fish in cheese cream sauce. Not sure if this baked dish should taste as is in Hong Kong but it was very very bland. We quite liked the baked chicken in curry sauce as well as the baked pork chop in tomato pineapple sauce. What I repeatedly went back for was the baked spaghetti bolognaise with meat balls. OMG it was the best I've ever had compared to all the local HK cafes I've tried. Not only did they give you LOTS of meat sauce but it also came with meat balls! I personally love HK style bolognaise and I could say that I've finally found the one my heart is content with. Mind you, this dish is very carby and you can probably save some for another meal. If you're looking to consume some spaghetti with meat sauce but don't want your entree to be so carby, there is another item on the menu - i.e. pork chop with rice/spaghetti in meat sauce. This dish isn't baked and it doesn't come with as much spaghetti as the former. Side question...does anyone actually eat rice in meat sauce? I deducted one star for the long queue as well as the ambiance at Parker Place. The food court at this Asian mall is usually quite crazy on weekend mornings as it's packed with people. You generally have to share a table with strangers. There will usually be people standing very close to you and watching you finish your food so that they can get your table. You really can't enjoy your meal without feeling pressured.

We came on a Saturday morning at 8:20am and there was a small line to order. After we had ordered and sat down, the line was long and they told people the wait would be around 30 minutes (depending on what you ordered) I ordered the thin noodles with pork veg and the satay beef macaroni with an additional side of egg and toast for extra $2 (approx). We got milk tea for both. They are very generous with the amount of milk tea they give. The cup is bigger than usual places. It also is pretty smooth, not bitter and the tea flavour is pretty strong. For me the satay beef macaroni and egg toast was too much for 1 person. I couldn't finish it but for others it will be just right. The macaroni was cooked just eight and the satay beef had a lot of flavour to it. The egg was a tad overdone but overall worth it for the price. Overall I would go back to get breakfast again and try their lunch items when available. It's economical, the portions are decent and the milk tea is not bad

Cha Don has only been opened in Henderson Mall for 2 weeks and the line is insane. (Even went back a month later and it's still ridiculous.) Most of the dishes are under $16 but some of the items are not available till after 11:30. That's includes the baked rice dish and spaghetti and the minced pork patty rice series. This will quicken up the long time for those breakfast goers but sucks if you're craving either of those. So the first time I had gone, there were lots of mistakes in orders and the long lines. There was also a sign in front of the cashier stating that they will only take CASH or E-TRANSFER...So be prepared! By the look at more recent reviews, it seems like they're still working out the kinks and the line is still 30-45 minutes. Maybe by this spring they'll figure it out? Just know there are lots of good options if you're not willing to wait.

Long lines at both the Yaohan and Henderson Mall locations speak to how popular it is, and the pricing sits in the affordable range for generous, full-meal plates rather than snack-sized portions. The overall value proposition is strong: you get real-deal HK café flavours without feeling like corners were cut. Dishes come out fast and hot, and the kitchen does not skimp on proteins--whether it's pork chops, chicken, or beef, plates feel properly loaded rather than padded with carbs. Despite the crowds, service is efficient and geared toward turnover, which suits the food court setting and keeps waits manageable once you've actually ordered. It's the kind of place where you grab your tray, sit, and eat rather than linger, but it delivers exactly what you come for. Given the combination of flavour, portion size, and price, Cha Don is an easy recommend for Hong Kong café fans looking for a quick, satisfying meal. The only real downside is the lineup; at peak times the queue can be enough to make you think twice. Still, if the line isn't too long, it's absolutely worth returning for another round.

A mall with good bones, some shiny pieces, but no heartbeat.  A place that could be great but is stuck in the purgatory between intention and execution. If it wants to matter again, it'll need more than a facelift - it needs to grow up and choose what it wants to be.  Right now, it's just waiting for someone to save the mall. 2.5 stars - take it or leave it.  The Apple Store isn't enough for me to trek there!
