    Spicy stir fried squid
    Corey L.

Great variety of food to choose from and great Korean flavours from their dishes! We tried their hot plate spicy squid - it has quite a spicy kick & great to pair with some kind of rice to eat with - and great flavour. Their summer item Mama's Potato Chips are ok - crunchy and have a honey sauce inside - a bit on the pricier side though. Great service from the staff! Will come back to try their other items and hot pot!

Despite the relatively consistent good food, which by the way, is actually not cheap, each time I see see service is actually not great. Not enough customer service it seems. Not a whole lot of smiles, and most waiters don't seem to speak enough English to serve properly. So why 2 stars today? Service. To pay, you have to walk to the counter yourself. They only take cash or debit. After I paid the bill and walked back to table, the waiter already took my leftover away which was an XL bowl with 3/4 left and of course I was planning to take home. I'm too tired to write the rest. They didn't apologize, didn't offer another bowl until I demanded it, basically didn't know what to do except said oh we already took it, with a blank look.

There were five of us so we ordered a variety of items from chicken to beef soup to mango salad and a beef and chicken soup. Everyone found their order tasty, cooked to perfection, and satisfying. Service was OK. We did have to track down our server to find what happened to our spring rolls and ask for water. There's plenty of parking outside and the restaurant has a lovely decor of what I think were cherry blossom trees. Based on the quality of the food, however, we would return when we're next in the area.

I didn't realize it was a chain with three locations in Metro Vancouver. We entered and the place was moderately busy. We were seated immediately. Rather typical looking restaurant but it was clean. Tables had QR codes for the menu and to place orders. We tried three things: - Deep Fried Durian Balls: Good. Becoming a fairly common dish now. Despite not liking fresh durian , I don't mind eating this. Outer layer is crisp and not too thick. - Rice Noodle with Tomato Broth: Good. Comes still boiling. Decent size, variety of toppings and a slightly thicker broth than most. Rice noodles are a bit soggy, but being all you can eat rice noodles is a nice feature for big eaters. - Yang's Chicken Rice Boneless: Good. Also comes boiling. Chicken is tender, and mushrooms have intense flavour. Service is minimal, but helpful. Overall, we were happy with our food as it was good, fast, and affordable. Not something I would crave, but a reliable option if I'm in the area again

(Sn: The constant opening and closing of the door is a bit off putting sitting right by the entrance, but I'm not docking a star because of that) Just basing my rating on the food alone. We Ordered: XLB - pretty good. My mom thought they didn't have enough ginger in the vinegar (but personally it's a mute point for me since if the XLB is good enough I don't add ginger) I enjoyed them. Nice and soupy just the way I like them. Braised Beef noodle soup w/ Kuan noodle - great noodle and beef texture, broth could be a bit more flavourful, but honestly not bad. Popcorn chicken - it's lacking depth in seasoning, and a little overdone on the dark side of things, but pretty good otherwise. Overall, everything was pretty good, just not a solid 5 stars in my books.

Heard from my family who lives here in Vancouver that this place was good and usually very busy. Came around 4pm on a Friday and there was a lot seating. Food came quick and which was great so we didn't have to worry about not having enough time to head to the airport. Love their noodle soups! Portion size was huge! Ordered the beef shank noodle soup with ramen and there was like 4-5 beef shanks that were huge! They definitely do not skimp on their meat and it was so tender! Broth was perfect on a cloudy rainy day with a bit of a spicy kick!

Keep in mind they won't seat you unless your entire party has arrived. The total came to less than $30 per person, which is great value for money in Vancouver. While the xiao long bao and sheng jian bao were definitely the highlights of our lunch, I enjoyed all of the dishes. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for Shanghai cuisine in Vancouver. Xiao Long Bao ($9.25) Even with my questionable chopstick skills, the wrapper didn't break at all, which shows how well they're made. The broth was flavorful, with plenty of meat inside. I just wish the dipping sauce had a stronger ginger profile. Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings / Sheng Jian Bao ($8.50) Crispy on the bottom with a fluffy top. Interestingly, they have the same soup filling as the xiao long bao. Meat & Vegetable Wonton in Peanut Sauce ($12.95)This was the only dish I've never had in Shanghai (my friend told me it's commonly served in the summer, when soup dumplings would be too hot). Wine Chicken ($15.95)It was cute how they served this dish in a tall pot. It looks small, but there's actually a decent amount of tender chicken inside. Fragrant without being overwhelming. Crispy Rice with Salted Egg Sauce ($21.95)The flavor profile reminded me of Singaporean-style salted egg fried chicken (which sadly doesn't seem to exist in Vancouver). The crunchiness adds a nice balance to all the dumpling dishes we had.

But the fried chicken piece was about double the size than the one in Sapporo! Perfectly juicy and the crispiness is a nice contrast to the soup and soft vegetables. Beef brisket was soft and tender but would pick the fried chicken over the brisket. The rice was a bit lackluster compared to the more fragrant one in Sapporo. It's hard to compete with soup curry from the motherland, but this is still worth trying if you're looking for something different from the usual ramen or sushi.

The rice is also very unique. It is more like whole grained rice and feels healthy. Its texture contrasts with the soup and goes well with it I think. We ordered some tofu pudding too. One cold sweet tofu pudding and one hot savory tofu pudding. I didn't even know you could get a savory version. Fully expected the sweet one to be better but it turned out to be the opposite at this place. The savory one was better. The sweet one was actually quite bland. It was not enjoyable at all. Come here for the dumplings. Don't bother ordering anything other than dumplings though. Stick to their namesake yummy dumplings. The tofu was a huge serving too. Especially the sweet one. The cold sweet one you just grab it yourself from the fridge. It's a huge container. We were 5 people. We didn't even finish the tofu pudding and we were all soooo full. Should have just ordered one savory hot tofu pudding and left it at that.
