Oh my word! This spot is such a delight and pleasure for dinner and breakfast! The tables are clean and there's no table cloth to worry about. The utensils and napkin are crisp and the menus had SO MANY options! Andrew made our dinner very pleasant and friendly. Despite my state of being half asleep, the Caesar salad as devoured without a second though and those bites of pasta and grilled greens had a light garlic taste that could be adjusted according to the salt and pepper before us. And the meat was juicy, and the many textures were enjoyable and refreshing. A true delight for dinner! For breakfast, Emma was on point with her ability to handle a rowdy family with two under 10 year olds. Their children's menu is hefty and filling. Their selections are common items but with extraordinary flavors! I lived the self saucing eggs Benedict and their toasts were so nicely toasted! I had the great opportunity to dine at this restaurant since I was staying at the Westin hotel in Vancouver. The restaurant was just off the lobby with a good size seating area with a full bar. I had 4 meals there since it was such a convenient location. For dinner I had the seafood pasta and asked for garlic sauce versus a wine sauce and the chef was able to accommodate. That meal was delicious as well as the spaghetti with bolognese sauce meal that I had in an occasion. The pastas has a nice texture and the portion was perfect. I finished my meal with the apple tart dessert more than I would like to mention but it was also delicious. One morning I had breakfast there and it was a great meal. I had the pancakes with the berries and peach with the very tasty syrup which I wish I brought back to the states with me. I had a fried egg and crisp bacon. Food is good; coffee is good. Service was poor, particularly at breakfast. As a business' traveller this was very frustrating. 1. Firstly when trying to pay for the meal. It took more than 15 minutes one day after my plate had been removed; during which time the table next door had been able to pay their bill. Eventually I had to pay at the front desk. No tip, I'm afraid. The day before it took nearly as long, but I was able to pay the waiter eventually. 2. One day there was no check on whether the food was satisfactory, and there was no coffee refill, even though my coffee cup was empty when the food was brought. read more

I was quiet impressed w the breakfast food - surprised at the quality being that this was hotel food. A sterile bar/restaurant in the Westin lobby, but worth a stop. Creative cocktails were beautifully and meticulously crafted by Mateo- so good that for the second round we told him it was bartender's choice for the 2nd. Earl gray tea-I fused gin was in my first cocktail, something I will experiment with at home... The ceasar was fresh and dressed just right, the roast Turkey melt sandwich excellent. But Mateo and the other person working were amazing- there was some huge work group in there, all w separate, not business checks and the staff was on fire, hustling hard but always friendly and never flustered. Its good to get some "down time" before New Year's Eve party, came to Apron for a late late lunch. Marc our server on duty that afternoon, welcomed us from the very start with his great personality. After we ordered our drinks, we decided to get something light to share: Apron's Cobb Salad; fresh greens, avocados, heirloom cherry tomatoes, grilled salmon, onsen eggs. Creamy Blue Cheese dressing, all matched perfectly to create a light but fulfilling lunch or dinner item. B-Sea Club Sandwich; fillet of salmon, lettuce, tomatoes, crisp bacon, mayonnaise and toasted sour dough bread. A great alternative to your standard Club. Just to be greedy we also ordered an appetizer BBQ Ribs; slow cooked with a tangy BBQ sauce, meat falls off the bones and still moist and succulent. 4 stars for DINNER ONLY (breakfast is at the end) My group could not check into our AirBnB until the next day so we all met up at Westin Wall Centre for the night. First thought an airport hotel/restaurant should I expect a lot? Let's start with service, everyone was VERY professional and helped one another (which should be the way but often not the case in a lot of places) chatting with the bartender we learned that a lot of locals would come there and after this dinner I can see why! Calamari was very nice lightly fried with a sauce that gave it a nice zing. My entree I believe was called like a Jadori chicken ( I forgot the name) great pieces of chicken and vegetables complimenting each other nicely. A great dinner and experience! 2 STAR breakfast the next morning. Obviously same ambiance and consistent service, I will say the espresso was fantastic! Omelette was not overcooked which was nice and a heaping pile of potatoes that quite frankly tasted like a combination of a Holliday Inn buffet or bagged potatoes at the grocery store (maybe it's the same thing) everything besides the espresso was just EH. It was my friend's birthday and she picked this restaurant for breakfast. The restaurant is located in the Westin Wall Centre. I called the restaurant but no one picked up the phone. I was trying to check if there was complimentary parking but ended up paying $4.50 for an hour of parking. Once seated at the restaurant, I looked at the menu and pancakes were not available. I ordered orange juice and the wall centre breakfast which included eggs, bacon, toast and potatoes. I found the breakfast menu to be a tad underwhelming. Their lunch and dinner menu looked better. My meal tasted good for what it was. Potato and bacon were crispy. Egg tasted great. I can taste the quality when it is a free range egg. Toast was just toast with a side of whipped butter. It was nice they added half a tomato there. Service was good. Our server check in a number of times. Covid precautions were in place. Staff wore face masks and there was hand sanitizers available. They also took down our information for contact tracing purposes. read more

To be honest, I didn't even know Richmond had French restaurants until my friend recommended The Apron to me and we were pleasantly surprised by the great food and excellent service! Though quite small, the restaurant is quite comfortable, open and bright. The atmosphere is very cheery and bright, so it's definitely a place where you can bring your entire family. There are some higher end dishes on the menu such as Halibut, but you can also order a burger and fries for the kids! Many of the dishes had an Asian fusion flare, which was executed very well. For dessert, we had an extremely interesting decomposed rocky road cake, which was definitely eye candy! We also enjoyed the piping hot bread that tasted like it had just been taken out of the oven. The bread was seriously delicious when dipped into the curry broth that came with the halibut! The Apron might be one of the best "fine dine" restaurants in Richmond. read more

Squash, carrot and ginger soup - This full-flavored soup and really warmed me up Pan seared scallops and pork belly - The scallops were so delicious and pork belly was crispy. came here for fri night dinner as a friend told me about this place tucked away near the lobby of the westin wall centre in richmond. dont think many people know about this hotel here as well as the bistro-like restaurant that they have serving west coast cuisine... ordered the west coast salmon with quinoa, the seafood linguini, and a kids mac n cheese... service was awesome. server was attentive and smiling all the way and made sure we were taken care of. meal started with crusty warm , freshly baked bread and real butter. it was so good that my son even asked where can we buy such bread for home. lol. salmon was cooked perfectly with a nice char on the outside but smoky and moist fish on the inside. large portion on top of a quinoa salad bordered my mayonnaise...gave the salad a creamy texture.. next the seafood linguini...came with a couple of shrimps, scallops, and some clams...shrimps were cooked perfectly, pasta was good as well, the scallops were not fresh but frozen as they did not flake off when sliced. was a bit cold in the center but outside had a good charring. the clams were the worst in my opinion...they had an after taste that i didnt like. i was expecting an upset stomach after the meal but luckily didnt happen. lol. the white wine sauce was rich and aromatic...perfect for the warm table bread. the kids mac n cheese was one of the worst ones we've had hands down. it was at least a day old and heated up in the microwave just before serving. the cheese was not fresh and got hard after a few minutes. pasta was not al dente but a bit tougher than usual... my son who is big fan of mac n cheese did not even finish t. lol. was kinda expecting a better food experience coming from a westin hotel property but was disappointed!! tip: there is free parking in the parkade. dont just go and pay and expect to be reimbursed. park close to the entrance of the lobby as if checking -in...register your car st front desk, they will give you a pass for the dashboard then proceed to parkade. free apples and lemon water in the lobby! happy eating! read more

Verdict: A must try restaurant hidden in Richmond using molecular gastronomy cooking techniques! It has free valet parking too! Details: The Apron is really a hidden gem in Richmond's new Westin Hotel. Bright greens and yellows paired with dark brown hues welcome you into the dining area. The servers were courteous and friendly, very knowledgeable and fun, it made the dining experience even better! The chef specializes in molecular gastronomy, a very trendy (and truly spectacular) scientific way to cook and prepare foods by studying physical and chemical processes that affect the ingredients. Dishes created are absolutely delicious, artistic, and leaves you wanting for more since there seems to never be enough! I took a look at their menu and just wanted to order everything! So we ordered the lobster globe, scallops, and their famous puffed foie gras as appies; lamb shank and sablefish for entrees; and matcha green tea mousse and baked apple tart. An amuse-bouche was brought to awaken our taste buds and it was really interesting! A small little cup filled with avocado foam, topped with a mini cucumber, carrot, fresh mint leaf and shaved popcorn. Yes popcorn! The taste and textures was really refreshing, a clever creation! The appies came all at once and it was like 3 pieces of artwork. The lobster was rolled into a ball, hence the name 'globe', with a delicious seafood reduction sauce, gnocchi and oyster mushrooms. The scallops were seared just right, with a bed of basmati rice and light curry. The puffed fois gras was really something new, no clue how the chef made it, but paired with port jelly, beets and baked pastry. It was so good! The port jelly had a squirt of liquid inside a very thin shell, what a nice touch! Entrees are just as perfect, lamb fell off the bones, fish was done just right, need I say more? 2 more artistic creations are placed before us, green tea mousse, lychee foam, coconut ice cream, and baked black sesame sponge. Hmmm....! Need more mousse! The apple tart is not your usual 'apple pie with ice cream', this had a honey ice cream, with open faced cinnamon apple inside a round light pastry, and rose marshmellows!! What an excellent way to top off the meal. I just fell in love with the food here, I will have to come back to try all the other dishes, or the 5-, 7-, 9-course set dinners! Go try it too! read more

Spacious and comfortable restaurant with delicious food with a flair. The seafood linguine exceeded my expectations. The prawns were *just* cooked through (perfection), and the scallops were the juiciest ones I've had. The Al dente pasta was sitting in a perfect olive oil & broth mix. The curry halibut dish was a unique and tasty dish. It came with a side of mango coconut sticky rice that worked marvelously with the green curry. The only downside to this dish was that the halibut was somewhat overcooked. Tried their breakfast couple of times and tried their evening appetizers. Portions are small for the price and my omelete did not come out as good as I expected, but they made great egg benedict. Thats very YUMMY so do order that when you go there. Very friendly servers there throughout the day. I think if they can lower the price a bit and run some more promotions, they will able to attract more traffics (and please offer free parking for people who eats there). read more

I felt protected the entire time I dined here, Renee, my server, chatted with me as I dined alone, my husband, sick upstairs in our room, made sure, I felt well cared for. Bravo! I did not expect much upon my arrival to the hotel dining area and was pleasantly surprised as I was promptly greeted, placed in a sunny (but not hot) area of the dining area. I could have chosen to sit outside, on this sunny Canadian day, on their cobbled terrace, with well-placed umbrellas, as late summer leaves rustle, as the wind picks up from time to time. Mind you there is quite a bit of traffic outside but the well placed hedges block most of the sights and sounds. If you decide to stay inside at lunch-time you will hear today's music plays softly overhead, light a/c pumps softly through the restaurant, and black granite table tops with green leather chairs are thoughtfully placed with enough space as you don't feel you are a part of someone else's conversation I ordered the Farmhouse cheese panini and fire roasted tomato soup for ($18) a bit steep for grilled cheese and tomato soup ($12-15 but you are in a hotel). A balsamic-maple reduction topped a mixed green side salad, a thick tomato soup (vegan) topped with a few (plain) croutons along with a hearty bread and four selections of cheese (aged cheddar, goat, Gouda and havarti). I could not finish it, lots of cheese, nice selection. Iced tea that tasted more like an Arnold Palmer. Tasted fine but if you are expecting plain black tea it is not what you get. Refreshing though, ($5) and free refills like in the States. If you have the time, take a seat! read more

What a LOVELY experience! We're local folks who couldn't find a restaurant that wasn't full to bursting or making us unhappy in some other way. At first we were distressed to find that there was only one handicapped space which was full. But when an able-bodied member of our party asked the front desk about it they offered to valet park our vehicle for free. We discovered as we entered the restaurant that staff had tipped them off to an access need and they were ready for us! Portions were good with the exception of the very tasty duck prosciutto which didn't have much on the plate. The tuna carpaccio wasn't large but was delicate and delicious. The Korean wings were saucy and flavorful without being soggy and retained a crispness. Our mains were super. Special tip of the hat to our server, Terence, who was friendly, efficient and thoughtful. I hope the employer treats this person well. Kicked started off the night with Crisp Dungeness Crab Cakes, it was beautifully seasoned and well balanced with some fresh salad. For our mains, we ordered the Wild Pacific Sockeye Salmon and the Deep Coastal Black Cod. Both were delicious and came in generous portions. The fish have crispy skin and were cooked perfectly. Again, it was well seasoned but not overpowering. It was fantastic! As for dessert, we decided on the Apron Chocolate Bar and the White Out. The chocolate bar was heavenly - salted caramel ice cream, almond crumble and coco crisp. The White Out featured a buttermilk pannacotta torchon, vanilla bean gelato and white chocolate and orange brulee. Going back and forth on these sweets was so much fun! If I wasn't full already, I would have ordered more desserts!! The service was fabulous, our waitress, Christina was not intrusive but was polite, attentive and catered to our every need. OMG ! What a difference from my last visit. They hired a new chef !!!! Yippie ! About time. Last night I ate in the restaurant and ordered a ceaser salad (which was very nice - but dislike they use pre cooked processed bacon) and the halibut which I wish I took a photo of so you could how wonderful it was. Beautifully cooked Halibut on top of a mixed exotic vegetable medley with a curry green broth that was probably the best meal I've had in months. Served with a mango sticky rice. Visually it was an amazing looking plate and the different flavours in the broth was just fantastic ! Totally different and very enjoyable meal. This new chef ! Wonderful addition to the restaurant. I discovered The Apron while traveling on business and every time I am in Richmond I make it a point to come here. The food is very light and clean and the chef introduces subtle combinations of flavors in each dish that create true harmony in the mouth. For foodies, this restaurant is a must! The only reason that I gave them four stars instead of five is because service, while always professional and friendly, can get backed up if many hotel guests order room service during a rush. This in turn effects patrons seated in the restaurant. The food is so good though that it's hard to even remotely complain. I'll definitely keep coming back. read more

The layout is a bit strange, but it is a posh hotel bar/restaurant jammed into a corner of the first floor. Only a few beers on tap, very odd view if you sit at the bar. You better make friends with your neighbor or you will spend your time staring at bottles of booze. read more
