I had been a Nicor Home Solutions Customer for over 10 years. After asking customer service to look into an issue (error on their part) for over 5 months and several phone calls and promises that my case would be resolved I was stuck with a huge bill.- credit that didn't come close to my wrongful charges. And besides all that the fact that they didn't care that I had been a loyal paying customer for 10+ years made me realize that I would never want to do business with them again. Please monitor your Bill and when you see an error be prepared to make several phone calls (at least an hour of call time each. Talk to several service reps, never hear back from a supervisor and don't let them tell you they are resolving the matter and not follow up as they will continue to bill you as they figure out the error. read more

This service use to be decent. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS WARRANTY SERVICE. GOOD LUCK TRYING TO GET SOMEONE OUT TO PERFORM THE SERVICE YOU ARE PAYING DEARLY FOR EVERY MONTH !! I have waited over a month to have my American made Kitchen Aid dishwasher repaired. I pay $64.95 per month for a service that Nicor Home Solutions cannot provide. NICOR'S worst SERVICE provider is C & A Services. The provider promised two weeks ago he would be back "next week" with the new computer board. I called him to see when he was coming and his recording stated he was out of town learning how to fix appliances until "next week." "Next Week" is Nicor and C & A favorite slogan. They out and out lie and fail to return calls. I have been more than patient. When you call them, expect to sit on hold for at least 45 minutes. Such a time and money waster. read more

Terrible Service!! Both Nicor Solutions and the Plumber Company they sent Center Guard Plumbing, they state "No job too small" they just showed up to my home and inspect it and said that they can't do it and i have to call another company and it was just a pipe line that they have to change. Called Nicor Solutions again and they didn't help me at all; they said they will call me back with an answer why they plumber company cant do it, but never call me back. Bad service from both of them. They just want to keep charging me for the coverage of nothing! Oh this is in Lake County IL. read more

This company is a scam! The service is a total waste of money. After paying for this service for over 20 years, waited on hold for over an hour several times over a two day period last summer and had to call another provider and pay out of pocket anyway. Appealed to be reimbursed and it was denied after several attempts. Their reason is that I was not authorized to use an outside repair company, which of course was impossible to get their permission because they couldn't handle the volume of calls and answer my call. Total waste of money if your repair is needed during a peak time such as the first hot day of the summer. Save yourself the trouble. read more

I wish I could give zero stars!! This company will take your money for years and years and then when you have an issue suddenly nothing is covered, none of the reps know what they are talking about.. JUST HORRIBLE I had an issue with my hot water heater and called on 12/02/17 and was told that if the water heater was not repairable that I was entitled to $400 reimbursement. a claim was opened by the representative. The water heater was not repairable so I went ahead and had it replaced. Counting on the $400 I was told I was entitled to. I called back on 12/04 and spoke to Johnny who informed me that my plan was not eligible for reimbursement. I sent an email at that time because I was very displeased and someone named Nia contacted me that same day, profusely apologized and said she was going to speak with customer service to try to rectify this. She called me back on 12/06 and said she spoke to customer service and they were willing to give me $200. I accepted this even though they should have given me the full $400 I was promised. She told me a check would be mailed and I would have it in 7-10 business days. NO such check has EVER arrived, it is now January 16th. I emailed Nia again on 12/27 to ask the status, she said she would look into it. I had not heard anything back from her so I emailed her again on 01/04/18. She responded and said that your records show the credit was applied on 12/29. I have still not received anything . I emailed Nia again on 01/05/18 and 01/12/18 and now I am just getting no response. I sent another email today but I don't expect a response. I have been a customer since 2013 and never had a problem until now. I am not sure what customers are even paying for with this scam company ** Received an email from Kim today 01/16 that they took it upon themselves to issue the credit to my account so I can continue the service plan that I told them I was NOT renewing. Utterly disgusted! 01/18/18 - Update. A customer service rep did call to speak with me about the above. He claimed he would have a check sent out next week at the latest. We will see what happens as I was promised the same thing back on December 06th read more

The Tech called when he was parked in our driveway. He was wearing his mask when he came to the door. I explained what was happening with our Dryer. We had another Service Call for the same issue several months ago. We made the correction, or I thought, that were recommended from the last Service Call. The Tech took a picture behind the Dryer and said again, the Hose is getting kinked and it's blocking the air/moisture from exiting the Dryer. We pulled the Dryer away from the wall so I could get a better look. He shared with me to get a Rigid Pipe and that Should resolve the issue. I said I would do that and also leave the Dryer pulled away from the wall. Later that day I had done a Wash Load and placed everything in the Dryer. I set it for 60 minutes and came back in 45 to check to see if the clothes felt like they were drying. Everything was dry and I turned it off. I had run a similar size load just a few days prior and had to run it for 2 hours. Thanks to the Tech sharing with me again we now will save a lot of Electricity/Money. I'm also going to get the other pipe and continue leaving the Dryer pulled away from the wall. We have Home Solutions on just about EVERYTHING except our Big Box Freezer in the Basement. I didn't even know we could get it covered until about a week ago. We've saved so much Money having the Home Solutions Coverage. We have our 2 Furnaces inspected twice a year which is included in the package. Whatever Subcontractor Nicor uses we've had good luck with their service. I would Recommend the Program to Everyone. read more

Customer service is horrible. I have had the service for better than 10 years, and in the last 5, it's really declined. For the furnace/ac/water heater service, I have to set alerts in my phone for April and September to get an appointment in June and November after waiting at least an hour on hold. Plus, every time you call, you get a sales pitch for their other services. For my last June ac check, after waiting 2 months after making the appointment, it was scheduled to rain the day of the appointment. Even though it wasn't raining, they cancelled. They must use an automatic dialer because the call was blocked by robocall. Instead of a person calling and rescheduling, I was left a message to call back and reschedule. I called back as soon as I saw I had a message, and had to wait another hour to get through to a person. The appointment was rescheduled for July. I scheduled my November furnace appointment in September. On the day of the appointment, again, I received a message evidently using an auto dialer stating the technician couldn't reach me, and I needed to call and reschedule. My phone never rang. After I received the message, I actually called my house phone to see if it was working, and it was. I called to find out what was going on. After waiting on hold for an hour and 15 minutes, someone finally came on the line. I was livid, and even though I was given the option of having the technician try again after 5 pm, I was done. I cancelled everything. If I could rate them with zero stars, I would. read more

If there is an option to give 0, I would have given it. Worst and awful service from Nicor Home Solutions. I reported an issue about my refrigerator on April 25th and it is still not fixed even after 2 1/2 months. Now I cannot use it as it is completely stopped working. I called them multiple times on this as a follow up and the answer is technician ordered the part and it will be addressed once the part is received. My daughter who is pregnant with a due date within a week is at home and we are not able to provide her milk , juices etc at regular frequency as there is no means to keep them fresh due to non functional refrigerator. The answer I got from this company is they don't care about it and don't provide any alternate solution. The response I got from them is I need to look alternate options on my own and they won't cover it. I asked multiple times to escalate the issue with their management to get some attention and they all gone deaf. read more

We experienced condenser issues with our AC on Friday, June 5th. After calling Nicor Home Solutions at 10 A.M, we were told we would receive a callback within 4 hours from Quality Service to schedule an appointment. Suffice to say we never received a call back from the provider within the four-hour window provided. We called and left VM messages at Quality Service several times over the next 24 hours. With no one calling us back, we once again contacted NHS. They were apologetic for the lack of response for Quality and routed my request to a new contractor, Askwell Solutions. Askwell contacted me within 4 hours and shared with me that they would be able to schedule my service call for June 18th. Given my initial call was June 4th, and the unseasonably warm forecast over the next week, I found June 18th date was not an acceptable option. I once again contacted Nicor Home Solutions Customer Service Rep to explain my level of dissatisfaction with my experience. It was then the CSR told me that they had limited resources, and I should be happy with the date provided. I was told: I should confirm that date with Askwell "it's better than not having a date at all." and that was my only other option was to call them back Monday and see if anything changes. No CAN DO attitude from NHS. They are very adept at reading from a script and plain awful at problem-solving! read more

They put you on hold several times throughout the process claiming that they are going through the notes. I think they are just sitting there. I am not sure what happened. This was an awesome company. Now all they do is not communicate to you and take your money every month. They sent me a reimbursement form with a promise to pay then never paid me. I am currently a customer. Most recently I had a claim that was denied. Here's the situation. I regularly have annual maintanace done on my sewer line because I own an old home. I'm well aware that Nicor solution does not cover this. Upon having my line cleaned out. The plumber's rooter got stuck in the line. It was determined that the problem occurred near the street. Needless to say, they had to do excavation work to remove their rooter. Several weeks later, my sewer line backed up. The original company came to resolve the issue. They excavated their original work and then determine (with their camera) that the connection to the city main was at fault. This problem was four feet from the original work. I asked them to stop and I called Nicor solutions. I explained the situation and Nicor sent an approved plumber (D&R) do evaluate the situation. Upon review D&R said that the problem was the connector to the city main and should be covered. I had vacation scheduled for Florida so I left my phone number and told D&R to call if there is a problem. I ok'd D&R to do the work. D&R called me while I was in Florida and stated that Nicor Solutions (specifically DAN) will not cover the claim due to the fact that connectors to the city main are not covered. The city said that this is not covered by the city but is the homeowner's responsibilities. I called Nicor Solutions customer service. Customer service stated that the connectors was not covered so the claim is denied. I talked to Milton, the CS supervisor and he stated the same. Nowhere in the agreement is that exclusion stated. Milton said that exclusions where up to their interpretation. He said he'll have Dan call me to clarify. Dan didn't call back until a week later after several more calls to customer service. After talking to Dan, the reason for declining the claim changed. The claim was denied because I had another company working on the sewer line even thought the first plumbers did not do any excavation to expose the main problem. Basically, he stated that since the first company was working anywhere on the sewer line then the claim was automatically voided because they were not authorized. This was regardless of the fact that these was two separate problems. I was not asking to have the work done by the first plumbers to be covered. My main issue is that after having D&R review the situation and stating that this should be covered, I ok'd to have the work done and made full payments to get the work started. I may have looked at other and cheaper options if I knew that claim would be denied. My next issue is with customer service and Milton. Once I got an actual person. I spent an enormous amount of time on hold. Milton was condescending. He said he'll have Dan call me. That never happened. After my vacation I called Nicor Solutions and stated my problem. They said Dan will contact me. This occurred a couple days later. During my discussion with Dan, the reason for denial switched from the connection to the main due to the fact that the sewer line was previously worked on my another plumber. This is regardless of the fact the first plumber's work was about 4 feet away. Just their presence alone void the claim. I was told there was nothing I can do. I looked to see how other companies handle this. Most agreements will cover anything that is not covered by the city. You guys seem to be the exception. Most companies provide coverage up to $10,000. My city will allow me to contract my own plumber. So I will probably be switching. I feel as though I was more of a nuisance to Dan and Milton. They just wanted me to go away. So much for exceptional service. My Claim #2270077 read more

I am very dissatisfied with this company, my water heater went out I called them to send someone out They sent a company called Black Sheep out. On July 24th Black Sheep advised a new water heater was needed, Pivotal Solutions said they offer up to $400.00 on a water heater. I was advised I had to pay the claim in full and would need to submit a claim in for reimbursement. I went to UPS faxed 7 pages with invoice and receipt of payment on 07/28/20. I called on 08/03/20 to ensure everything was received. I was advised they were behind and would email claims. I called back on 08/06/20 to verify all info was received this time requested a supervisor, was advised one would call me back. No call back from supervisor called back on 08/19/20 representative advised not sure why no one called me back. On 09/03/19 claim was denied for no receipt of payment. Resent receipt of payment on 09/08/20 to two managers called to verify if it was received, the call was disconnected. I called back and the manager advised he did not receive the email. i resent the email and the manger said he would escalate the request to claims. On 09/14/20 The representative said Black Sheep submitted a invoice for payment. I advised they were already paid in full, research was done and Black Sheep stated they were not due any money. A request to expedite my claim for the second time was sent on 09/16/20. I like many others I have read, have paid into this company and now when I need their service it has been awful. I do not normally write reviews I try to deal directly with a company and I have been successful in getting an understanding. My washer and dryer broke I was told to call a service technician which came right away. I was told my machines were old and needed to be replaced. I agreed, I purchased a washer and dryer (which cost more then the $400.00 each I would receive from Pivotal), from Best Buy online this is apparently where my trouble started! I faxed every document requested ofcourse I did not have a traditional receipt so I sent what Best Buy sent me and waited. After awhile I called and was told the claim department would contact me they did, with a denial. Since then I sent a bank statement to prove even further I paid for my washer and dryer. I have called spoke with Rose, Ron, Kyiona just to name a few. I asked for a supervisor one never called, asked for a manager one has never called, asked to speak with the claims department and was told I could not. I had to get an emergency service to come and do the repair and it cost me over $900. They said they would reimburse me for $400 of that, but apparently the parts weren't covered and they only paid me $195. What an utter waste of my money. Go with another company. I wish I had read reviews before signing up for this. Avoid Fixed bill plan!!! Complete scam by Nicor solutions. I signed up thinking that they were the same company as Nicor Gas. Technically a sister company which allows Nicor to charge consumers extra for public utilities. There pitch: keep monthly payments the same throughout the year to avoid paying large amounts in the winter. The amount would be based on my past gas utilization. I figured it would be similar to my gas usage. BIG SCREW UP ASSUMING THIS ON MY PART. Looked into my bill 2 months ago and the premium Nicor solutions charges is ridiculous. My average gas bill if I stayed by Nicor Gas was ~$87/mo. The bill I got from Nicor solutions ~$137/mo. Incensed at myself for being duped by Nicor Solutions. Frankly shady, almost fraudulent, practice by Nicor solutions using the name "Nicor" to get consumers like me to put my scam alert guard down since you think you are dealing directly with your public gas provider. Getting the bill isn't clear on the difference you would pay with Nicor gas versus Nicor solutions. I am sure thousands of people are paying this fixed price plan not knowing they have been scammed. A month later we received a letter, stating they wouldn't reimburse as not enough paperwork was submitted. I already wasted plenty of time with this company, and will just cancel the contract. The technician arrived as scheduled and was very professional and helpful, but then told me that humidifier check was not part of my contract, although it had always been done previously. Have their furnace + A/C repair and maintenance plan for years and very inconsistent. Sometimes they'd clean and check both units thoroughly. Other times it was a disaster. One year a technician doing my furnace clean & check left with parts hanging out of the furnace by their wires and of course it wouldn't start. Since then I learned to always ask for a senior technician when scheduling. I've just decided (3/15/18) to completely end their coverage. It makes more sense to me to be my own insurer.
