1. Pay with check discount is not guaranteed. We had a service done in mid-February, and were mistakenly charged the full amount, even though we were told we would receive a 3% discount. We were then told they would mail a check. No luck. Debbie has my Zelle QR code and info and still refuses to refund the overcharge. She would rather argue than honor her discount. 2. Does not stand behind their "100% Money-Back Satisfaction Guarantee on Service." We had an error code on our furnace. Tech came out and diagnosed as a bad inducer. We believed him and purchased a new one. They installed it right away and also did an inspection. Total was about $1100. Steep, but not bad since the tech said that should get us a few more years on an 18 y.o. furnace. The inspection went well and we were happy. Next day the error code was back. Different tech came out and diagnosed as a control board issues. $900 to fix. Ouch. He was at the house for a long time to do the diag. After asking for detailed information, Debbie refused to give any insights and lied to us about not being charged any mark up on the inducer. At this point I was definitely not satisfied! The more questions I asked to get to the truth, the more Debbie blamed us for the age of our furnace. I asked for a refund of the service and told her she could come get the part once we received the refund. This was because we STILL had not gotten the check discount she promised us! The part was charged at $600+ so the remaining amount for the service is $475 which includes the inspection that failed to find the control board issue. That and the check discount comes to $500. on a nearly $1100 bill. But Debbie would rather blame us for asking questions and not being grateful for the time they spent NOT FIXING THE ISSUE! Debbie lied to me when she said she would give the refund and come get the inducer. She has gone back on her word and refuses to make it right according to her own posted "promise." Debbie can send the refund amount through Zelle or bring a check when she picks up the inducer to resolve this issue. The BBB has now directed me to the IL Attorney General. read more

Furnace , Air Conditioner, bit more complicated and involved.Water heater is easy. They did find a part that failed under warranty and replaced it. I am glad and thankful for the same. On the pricing, I really request the business to consider optimizing in what ever way possible and give a discount to consumers without reducing their profit. Pool water filter, Pool water heater, may be similar and if they can study it add to their services, just one trip may be worth while for both the business and consumer. I had an issue with my furnace and a carbon monoxide issue. The day prior I had another local service come out for an annual inspection. I was told of an issue but was not guaranteed that it was a total failure of my furnace, which they recommended I replace immediately. the very next day I thought we had an Carbon monoxide scare which turned out to be mostl most likely a detector issue. To be safe my wife called out another service not knowing who was there the day prior. I'm glad she did. Brian and Sons came out and inspected the unit more completely And accurately than the company the day before. they took their time. they took the unit apart completely inspected way beyond what I thought they would. I bought a water heater at Home Depot. Just needed it installed. I also needed some old piping and valves replaced to have the heater installed. After getting two other estimates- one from Lifetime Plumbing $910.00 and one from Scottish Plumber $1,600- Paul from Brian & Sons would do it for $700.00-$750.00 tops. For the same work and parts. I said let's do it. Paul is a lunch bucket type worker. Puts his tools down and goes to work. I could tell Paul knew how to turn a wrench. No scratching his head and thinking about what to do or running back and forth to his truck to get tools or parts. After about three hours he finished cleaned up and took the old water heater with him. Cost $700.00 and a job well done. It's been over a month now since I had this done and the water heater, pipes & valves, are all working perfectly. I am definitely a satisfied customer! I called Brian and Sons to have my furnace tuned up for the winter. A 1/2 hour job at a cost of $115. During the tune up I mentioned to the tech that my nest thermostat had reported that the heating system was having difficulty heating the home. After a 10 minute diagnosis, he determined it was the blower motor capacitor. He said he could replace it for $250. Not knowing any better I agreed to the repair. My total bill was $351. He was here for 50 minutes total. After he left, I had time to think about what just happened. I kept the old capacitor and upon review of it I was curious on how this part could have cost $250 to replace. The capacitor had a part number. Since it was old, a google search took me to a comparable capacitor. It's cost was 5 bucks. To be fair, I took the cover off my furnace, looked at the newly installed capacitor and found it on Amazon for $7.40. On a 5 point scale of repair difficulty, I give it a 1. It took the technician longer to get it out of the truck then to replace it. I decided to reach out to Debbie, the owner of Brian and Sons to express my thoughts. She told me that I was paying for the tech's knowledge, truck costs, gas costs and voltmeter. I understand the cost of doing business, and realize if I would have called them for a service call only that the bill would have been probably around $200. (100 service call fee, 95/hr charge and 8 for parts) But they double dipped. They where already here and where charging me 115 for a furnace cleaning. He was here for 50 minutes total. 20 minutes to clean the furnace, 10 to diagnosis the capacitor problem, 10 to replace the capacitor and 10 to pay the man. As he left, before I pondered on what happened, I mentioned to him that I prefer to support hometown services because the larger companies are all about the money. Highly advertised companies like 4 season or ABC due to their advertising costs tend to be higher. He started to laugh and asked me do I know what ABC stands for, "already been cheated". My ac was having an issue. I called they got me an appointment right away. The gentleman listened to all that u tried know where to go and attack the issue. After discussing the options and fixing a really old probably not serviced like it should be units they gave me a quote on new. I decided on the new units and they were able to make an appointment that worked great with my schedule and not waiting forever and were in and out in a very short time compared to my friends that have had this done. Reminded of this place due to a recent call asking if I wanted them to come out to service my A/C unit at the start of the season. Didn't know who was calling so I quickly Googled the phone number and wound up here. I didn't leave a Yelp review when they serviced my furnace, but my experience was pretty similar to the people here so I probably should have checked here first. I had two things I wanted them to do: 1. Clean and service the furnace, 2. Assist in setting up a Nest thermostat with the existing on-furnace humidifier, as it's outside of the standard super-basic Nest install and I didn't want to mess anything up wiring it myself. I looked at a few different wiring diagrams online, and didn't find anything that seemed to match what I had 100%, so I figured I'd let a professional do it. So the cleaning went fine, that seemed pretty simple and standard. Dude got his camera out, inspected stuff, brushed it off, and that all seemed OK I guess. First time home owner, so I didn't know what to expect. My furnace made it through the winter, so that's alright. The whole time he was there he was trying to sell me on a new one though, as "You never know with these." The major disappointment came from the Nest side of things. The guy not only didn't know what it was and had never seen it before, but also flat out ridiculed me for buying a $250 thermostat. I figured, whatever, I don't care what he thinks I just want it installed. Pulled up the wiring diagrams I found, but he didn't seem to know what he was looking at. I was hoping to get it hooked up, instead he just clipped the existing wires off the humidifier, told me to call an electrician, but would be more than happy to install a new humidifier for me. Overall would not recommend these guys to anyone, and certainly won't be using them for A/C servicing. read more

They gave me a loaner portable air conditioning unit to cool off a portion of our house until all repairs were complete...a sanity saver. We woke up Thursday morning with no heat. Live in a mobile home. Called Brian and Sons before they opened and left an urgent message. Got a call back and they would send someone as soon as possible. The problem was diagnosed and a new blower motor was required. The old motor was completely seized. In short order a new motor was located and installed. Over the weekend a vibration developed and a noise was heard that was disconcerting at the least. We communicated with the owner, Deb, and made a video of the problem. Upon hearing the video the problem was diagnosed and one of their techs, Paul who specializes in mobile homes was dispatched. In less than an hour he had everything pulled apart and reassembled. No noise. No vibration. NO CHARGE. We were very pleased with how things were taken care of. The original work was warranted and they followed through as expected. They expect alot of money and they aren't worth it.
