This fall, we needed our roof replaced and hired a contractor that was recommended by a neighbor. The process extended well over a month with the general having subbed out all aspects of the job to other contractors that not only daily were unsupervised, performed shoddy work requiring multiple call backs almost every day, but also damaged multiple parts of the house including our air conditioner. Our hard-earned money had these contractors dump roofing materials, pieces of Hardie siding, flashing from siding work, nails, etc., into our AC unit. This, of course, was unnoticed until the unit kicked on and a cyclone of bad and carless decisions by our roofing company clanged around damaging the coil and fan, spewing what it could up through the top. The costs and stress of the roofing work had already put us past the scope of what were prepared to handle. Fortunately, before I could yet again look up at the sky and ask why every contractor brought bad luck, I pulled up Bartlett's number. We had used them for a furnace check earlier in the year. They picked up immediately, and listened. Not, 'you're matter is important to us...you'll hear back in a few days.' They were as concerned about what had happened, not just through our long ordeal with the roofers but for the AC unit they installed. Bartlett said they would have someone come out ASAP as our roofer wanted to open the AC himself so that he could inspect and clean it on his own. That wasn't going to happen. Vince came out and assessed the unit and cleaned it out. He was extremely helpful in going over the damage to our unit that was only about 7 years old, asked what our intentions were as far as if we were looking to repair the unit, live with the damage to it, or replace it. He explained and fairly documented each option going over the pros and cons of each taking into account our current indoor equipment, ductwork, and performance expectations. His documentation helped us work with our roofer to understand the cost of their damages. We made the decision that repairing the damaged unit would be much of the cost a new unit would be. Vince had given us multiple options for our budget with zero push to sell us any of them. He continued to be transparent on each choice. We decided on a new Lennox 4-ton unit with matching evaporator coil. As Vince had been, every person from Bartlett whether on the phones or those that arrived for the install treated us like we were part of their family and respected our house as such. The install team was great and made sure any changes to our ductwork/etc we understood especially since the new unit is the new R454B type which required some additional required sensors, etc. After install, I had some questions on the unit and its efficiency due to confusing government energy guide labeling and Vince spent an entire weekend making sure everything was correct. Because a larger unit was installed, some things had to be modified for the indoor coil and space to make some of the changes was limited. Vince took the time to come out and look at everything and listen and came up with a plan to make everything as perfect as possible. I do not know any other business or company that would without hesitation take the time to even consider doing that. Within a day, he had a team come out and make some adjustments and even upgrade our humidifier with a new model that not only performed better but does not leak and have all the other problems the former unit had by design. This team took their time to make everything not just fit but to work better than the old equipment could ever have done. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop only because of the terrible time we'd had with the roofers and any other company that serviced or replaced anything in our house. Before they left, they made sure to ask if everything looked good, the install\cleanup\etc. I actually smiled and told the technician that it all looked amazing and like someone that cared did all the work. A very long story short, if you through need or desire to change HVAC equipment or service any of it, do not hesitate to call Bartlett Heating & Air Conditioning. They respond as quickly and with the care a family member would give you and your house and treat the smallest jobs with the same detail as the large ones.

I sent a message via Yelp on a Sunday night and they immediately scheduled our oven troubleshooting for Monday afternoon. Their front office staff is incredibly responsive! George (technician) arrived timely and was very thorough. He explained things to me every step of the way. He is approaching this very methodically - ok, so it's not the igniter, let's look at the next link in the chain... I saw George called out by name in other Yelp reviews, and I understand why he comes so highly recommended! He called the manufacturer to discuss his findings, but the manufacturer tech team wasn't available. He let me know he would be calling them again in the morning and that he would reach out to me with an update. I've had plenty of negative or so-so experiences with other service technicians from other companies. This experience with George / Astera is so positive that I'm posting my review even before the service is completed. Astera will be getting first crack at all of my appliance and HVAC service calls going forward.

I had them come out to clean our vents and dryer with the VIP service last week. There was a solid piece of ice on the coils of the AC in our basement. Immediately it spiraled down that your equipment is old and not working right. You need to replace or you have some expensive repairs. I was also told by Brian that my upstairs drip pan had mold growing. They also stated that both outdoor electrical systems had a bad cap and bad contactors. And also my one system for the basement needed 4-5lbs of R22 which is extremely expensive because it's discontinued. A little back story -we have 2 AC's/ furnaces. I was quoted with a bunch of repairs close to 6-8K for the 2 units of work or a $28,000 of a brand new system for both of our AC/ furnace replacement. In the work summary it stated that the filters were changed which they weren't. Once I brought it to their attention they stated they would talk to the owner and hear back on Monday which that never happened. According to Brian they don't cheat or steal from costumers yet they have already a little spiel for it. I was told in the beginning "oh well I seen you had some filters near the machine or we can drop one off". Not the point. I paid for VIP service so that was included. If it was stated in writing that it was done for both machines but they weren't and you even had filters near you that belonged to the costumer but didn't even bother replacing is ridiculous. That alone raises major flag of what else have they not done or lied about. Half an hr after Brian left to quote for brand new systems I had my AC guy that we absolutely trust and lord and behold everything was over exaggerated by Mike and Brian! Turned out there was no bad cap or bad contractors on either of the systems. I only needed 2 pounds of the R22 not 4-5 originally quoted at $350 a pound. We also found out that neither filters were replaced. Equipment was supposedly cleaned and vacuumed yet there was spiders webs and full of debris on the bottom of the equipment outside. Oh and not to mention that the only thing in the upstairs drip pan was rust!! No mold anywhere!! When I tried mentioning items to Brian he immediately got defensive and stated well we took pictures and Mike is right. Did the other person take pictures? I stated that they did one better they had me stay with them and showed me the gauges and explained everything to me so I was knowledgeable. The picture you took, that suddenly came up with, but did not send to me now or previously could have been taken anywhere!!! Also the text message at 9pm asking if we are going to go with the work but "no pressure" after he left my house at 5:30pm is absolutely ridiculous especially when I stated multiply times I would let him know the following day. After repairing, with my other AC guy, we no longer have an issue. So make that make sense. Having old equipment doesn't not make them crap. Things were made much better back then compared to today. They seen that we have old equipment and it was easy to just say everything is wrong with it and new will fix it all. People don't have $10,000-$30,000 out of nowhere of an expense just because. As a company it seems that you are more concerned about money than caring about a costumer that is just trying to take care of their house and are not looking for an anxiety attack because of the stress caused. There were a lot of other red flags not mentioned. Please if you use them do your research and get other quotes! Do not trust them until you get multiple eyes on it. It easy when you are worried to make a decision that was rushed because you didn't have enough time, pressured or believed you can trust them. Way to take advantage of people in the middle of summer. I will never ever again use them!! Highly do not recommend!!
