These days, spending money on your house whether for a planned project or unplanned repair, finding a business that you can not only trust to do the work but also offer the customer experience that at least matches and at best exceeds your expectations is rare. This fall, we needed our roof replaced and hired a contractor that was recommended by a neighbor. The process extended well over a month with the general having subbed out all aspects of the job to other contractors that not only daily were unsupervised, performed shoddy work requiring multiple call backs almost every day, but also damaged multiple parts of the house including our air conditioner. Our hard-earned money had these contractors dump roofing materials, pieces of Hardie siding, flashing from siding work, nails, etc., into our AC unit. This, of course, was unnoticed until the unit kicked on and a cyclone of bad and carless decisions by our roofing company clanged around damaging the coil and fan, spewing what it could up through the top. The costs and stress of the roofing work had already put us past the scope of what were prepared to handle. Fortunately, before I could yet again look up at the sky and ask why every contractor brought bad luck, I pulled up Bartlett's number. We had used them for a furnace check earlier in the year. They picked up immediately, and listened. Not, 'you're matter is important to us...you'll hear back in a few days.' They were as concerned about what had happened, not just through our long ordeal with the roofers but for the AC unit they installed. Bartlett said they would have someone come out ASAP as our roofer wanted to open the AC himself so that he could inspect and clean it on his own. That wasn't going to happen. Vince came out and assessed the unit and cleaned it out. He was extremely helpful in going over the damage to our unit that was only about 7 years old, asked what our intentions were as far as if we were looking to repair the unit, live with the damage to it, or replace it. He explained and fairly documented each option going over the pros and cons of each taking into account our current indoor equipment, ductwork, and performance expectations. His documentation helped us work with our roofer to understand the cost of their damages. We made the decision that repairing the damaged unit would be much of the cost a new unit would be. Vince had given us multiple options for our budget with zero push to sell us any of them. He continued to be transparent on each choice. We decided on a new Lennox 4-ton unit with matching evaporator coil. As Vince had been, every person from Bartlett whether on the phones or those that arrived for the install treated us like we were part of their family and respected our house as such. The install team was great and made sure any changes to our ductwork/etc we understood especially since the new unit is the new R454B type which required some additional required sensors, etc. After install, I had some questions on the unit and its efficiency due to confusing government energy guide labeling and Vince spent an entire weekend making sure everything was correct. Because a larger unit was installed, some things had to be modified for the indoor coil and space to make some of the changes was limited. Vince took the time to come out and look at everything and listen and came up with a plan to make everything as perfect as possible. I do not know any other business or company that would without hesitation take the time to even consider doing that. Within a day, he had a team come out and make some adjustments and even upgrade our humidifier with a new model that not only performed better but does not leak and have all the other problems the former unit had by design. This team took their time to make everything not just fit but to work better than the old equipment could ever have done. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop only because of the terrible time we'd had with the roofers and any other company that serviced or replaced anything in our house. Before they left, they made sure to ask if everything looked good, the install\cleanup\etc. I actually smiled and told the technician that it all looked amazing and like someone that cared did all the work. A very long story short, if you through need or desire to change HVAC equipment or service any of it, do not hesitate to call Bartlett Heating & Air Conditioning. Our furnace began to short cycle on a Saturday night during the middle of a cold snap. We called Bartlett HVAC, who came highly recommended on FB groups and Yelp, and they helped to trouble shoot our issue and determined that it was not a safety issue and got us through the weekend. They came out on Monday and looked at our furnace. We decided to replace our 16 year old gas furnace. Bartlett HVAC provided a method to keep our home warm until they couId do the complete install. On the day the technicians arrived to install the new furnace, they arrived on time. They made sure to put down runners to protect our flooring and always wore shoe coverings going in and out of our home. The install went very smoothly and the work was completed in a very timely manner. The technicians were super respectful and did an outstanding job working in a VERY tight space. Solid. There are so many horror stories but it's great to know there is a good HVAC company out there. I've been using them for 5 years. They usually have a special for cleaning. One thing I like and appreciated about then was they were not all about making the sale. Instead they were realistic and that got them a loyal customer. When I moved in my house both HVAC and a/c were original and almost 30 years old. When they came for check ups, they told me that they didn't think I needed to change yet but it would probably die soon. Well they died. The HVAC was first and it was a fan problem. The replacement was going to be a bandaid and the guy told me it was probably going to have more problems soon. So I decided to get a new one. I was considering high efficiency but he basically told me that it's good but the non HE are pretty good these days. It was amazing how much better the blower was and helped keep the house warmer and cooler. About a year later the ac died. It was some freon issue which is really expensive so I decided to replace it. They provide a 10 yr warranty as long as you get a yearly service check. Sounds good to me! Needed to get a new furnace and AC. Got a few quotes and Bartlett was the last quote we got. Vince came out to do the estimate and he was very informative and he felt the most straightforward and honest out of everyone I had come out for estimates. Quote felt pretty reasonable - most of the quotes we got were higher then Bartlett's quote, some were even a couple thousand higher. There was only one other place that had a similar quote to Bartlett's, with a similar quality furnace/ac, but we ended up going with Bartlett because we liked Vince and their customer service was great. They were also nice enough to be able to squeeze us in on the install a little earlier before the temps dropped down into the low 30's so our toddlers wouldn't freeze (since our furnace was broken) Sam and Leo came out to do the install, and I thought they were great, did a good job. I needed a diagnostic of my furnace, which wasn't heating up. Bartlett Heating & Air quoted the lowest price for a diagnostic of all the HVAC companies I called. On the day of the service visit, I received a notification of when the technician was en route, which was a nice touch. Matt arrived promptly and was friendly and informative. He identified the issue, which required two part replacements. Matt went above and beyond to make sure the parts were properly installed and tested. Vince arrived later to assist with some issues caused by faulty installation by the HVAC company that installed the unit. Matt and Vince's diligence got the heater running again with a noticeable improvement in performance. The heater was working so well that it was actually a bit noisy from the increased blower speed. A few weeks later Brian arrived as a follow up free of charge to install duct braces to mitigate the noise while maintaining the improved performance of the heater. Wonderful company! Had Brian out from Bartlett heating and air about a month ago and they fixed my second floor furnace. Which is still working great. Well yesterday morning I woke up and my first floor furnace was not working! I called at 7:30am and spoke with Laura. He set up my appointment for 8:00am Jake was there by 8:10. He let me know that my furnace was not safe to run due to a cracked heat exchanger. I needed a furnace done ASAP so he set the install up for the same day! My furnace went out in the early evening, and my homeowner's insurance filed a claim with a different company, 7-star Heating and Cooling. I called this 24-hour company all throughout the night, as it was extremely cold, but they never answered. I found Bartlett Heating & Air and called them right as they opened at 8am. Someone answered, was extremely friendly and helpful, said someone would be out between 10 and 1. 20 MINUTES LATER someone was on the way to my place to help. The tech that came in, Brian, was on it. Had them out last month because our 4 year old air conditioner was not working properly. They came out right away, figured out the coil was leaking and replaced it. Six weeks later the same thing was happening. Called them and they came right out and discovered the new coil that they had put in was defective so they replaced it and added more Freon all at no charge. I showed the quote from Bartlett Heating and Air to that local competitor and he said it was a really good price. Professional - Asked about our preferences with Covid precautions, introduced themselves by name. Practical - They recommended an affordable unit and said they didn't install the high end furnace units and when I asked why they said "we don't install anything we can't fix at 2am". My AC went out when a big heat wave hit, and everyone's AC went out. When I called they were up front about how long it would take to get to us, and they were prompt and on time for the appointment. The technician was polite, professional, and knowledgeable. New furnace and AC install July 2020. First year check up for warranty reasons. Everything was in operational order. More pea gravel was placed under the AC unit outside, and placed landscape bricks at base to keep pea gravel from washing away. Did a great job in making it look right....and appears to be strong enough. Great communication by the technician. Very pleased with service...can't go wrong.
