They go up to size 14 kids and I was most impressed with their selection of jackets. They also buy shoes, books, toys, strollers, etc. You can go offsite as long as you return within an hour of their completion notification. I'm a big fan of the idea of reusing kids clothes. They just grow so fast and it feels like such a waste. While not perfect, there are a lot of pros to shopping here. First of all, there is a ton of clothing selection. What I especially like about shopping here is that there's a lot more variety in the clothing then you might find at a big store. I especially like to use it for holidays/season themed clothing that you don't want to pay new-clothing prices since the items won't get a ton of use. When it comes to regular clothing (onesies, leggings), you're not saving that much than if you were shopping at say Target, but you'll see big on more expensive items like sleep sacks, carriers, strollers, etc. I personally like the South location more than this one as I feel they hold their items to a high standard. At this location, I noticed a higher occurrence of stains or just really worn-out items. I also really enjoy bringing clothes to sell because I feel like they're more likely to end up in the hands of a happy owner than with Goodwill or something. read more

Every time I come seems there is a problem. Whether it be me shopping for 1.5 hours only to be told they do not take discover. Okay...... Next visit, doors are wide open so I walk in, find what I need, go to cash out and they tell me they don't open until 10am. Hmmm, okay, it was 9:55 and the doors were open, like open to the outside breeze and you won't even let me leave cash to cover the 1 thing I need? You are learning, yes, apparently I like torture so I go back. This time I have 20% off to use so I stocked up a huge pile for all 3 kids. When I dropped off some laundry baskets I was told they will call me in a week as they were backed up. Yikes, ok I understood. Called back 8 days later and the woman one there phone told me to try again in a few weeks because they were only on stuff from December 6th. Wish I would have known this before I would have went somewhere else. They empty shelves of toddler boys and the girls are all really old styles and stained. Asking $8.50 for a pair of Cat & Jack jeans that are between $9-$12 brand new in store ... You guys need to rethink who you are hiring. Not a big fan of this place to be honest the clothes are overpriced and sometimes more than gently worn. Trying to bring stuff in to sell is also more hassle than it's worth. It takes a lot of time and you get literally a couple of bucks if you're lucky or more if you take store credit. For years now I've favored this place. My wife as well. We go to the Chilliwack, BC location. Even when the clothes were starting to look unwashed at times. But more than once now I've brought one of the items from top shelf to the counter. clearly marked price on the tag just to have them give me a different price and not stand by what was on the tag. Today was the last straw. Staff helped me bring down a Dinosaur Tricycle with tag that said $20 in big letters. We get it to the till and now it's $55. They won't stand by what the tag says and we had to leave with a very upset 2yr old. Never going back and don't recommend to anybody. read more

Anyways, I've shopped here occasionally and brought stuff in to redeem money and literally every single time I have to deal with the same girl ( will not call her lady or women till she acts like one ) also so there's no confusion who I'm speaking about she's I assume Hispanic? Has long straight dark hair ... but her attitude is so disgusting to me and she calls herself "the manager" because of her I have completely cut all ties with "once upon a child" her shitty, Debbie downer, no type of customer service has ruined it for me. Be aware when you go sell your clothes they bring "policies that they have" but don't know where they are written. They only gave me store credit when someone called and said that today was my last day and when I came in they could not give me cash. In the little paper they make you sign says if you don't come to pick up your money, items may be donated. B.S! My items were already ready to be priced tagged in their blue bins. I felt like we hit the motherload here! So many great finds especially in the realm of the toys/mobiles/accessories. I found a great floating travel baby seat that my cousin had which costs normally $70 and it was in pretty much new condition for $30. They also had a variety of walkers, swings, cradles, mobiles, shoes, etc. When you research how much the items do cost brand new, it is fair for the markup that they charge selling them used because they are in pretty good condition. I believe you might be able to haggle a little but the guy that checked us out had little to no social skills...so I would probably try to find someone in a higher level position on anything further than asking basic questions of the floor staff. They had a huge variety of clothes and I liked their 10 for $10 deal on the onesies. It also looks like it is pretty easy to sell back your stuff but we have just been giving our baby girl's stuff to friends who had kids after us so not sure how that part of the process will be but if it is too much of a pain, then I won't bother. This place is here to make a profit and people always seem to think that their stuff is worth waayyy more than it really is...I have had to deal with people trying to sell their own stuff for a ridiculous price on FB marketplace or let go so this is easier for me to deal with and close by. read more

I like Once Upon a Child. My let down is that a lot of their clothing is not in great shape. It seems they take a lot of liberties with "gently used." I found many items with stains or just looked like they had been worn 100 times. The clothes are nice for day care and playing outside. I was even surprised by some of their pricing. It wasn't as "cheap" as you might be looking for- but definitely better quality than the thrift store. Be sure you wash them when you get home! You don't get a whole lot of money back for the clothes you turn in, but, it's better than nothin! read more

I have three boys - almost 10 year old twins & an infant - and I really appreciate this place. By the way, this is what they do for the community - sell children's items in good condition at affordable prices. There's people that need this help that don't want it for free. They're not bad people because they make a profit. They have to pay employees and keep it going as our children grow. Selling seems to be the hard part for most unhappy reviewers. If you keep in mind that they're a business and have to be able to resell what they buy at a profit, it's easier to lower your expectations at the door. It's not just about good condition, but whether or not an item is in demand. If you have high end designer items, it's probably better to sell them online. Not everyone that shops here is going to buy designer stuff for their kids, even at a discount, because their kids might ruin them or outgrow them too quickly. I've sold bigger baby items, like a bassinet, on FB marketplace because I didn't want to haul it here and possibly not have it sell, and I think I got more money this way, too. So I sell easy to carry stuff here first. If they don't buy something, but I think I can sell it online, then I try that. I donate the rest to Goodwill. The reason I appreciate this place is that I don't have to sort through items in bad condition to find a prize. They're obviously buying a lot from people because the store is always stuffed with items. They're just not buying junk. Plus they have plenty of clearance sales and 20% off opportunities from earning points. For buying, this place is great. If you can't handle rejection, then selling is probably not for you. Just an honest observation. Not trying to be mean. They don't deserve 2.5 stars for this. They do seem edgy sometimes at the selling counter, but I think it's because they take a lot of crap from people. AS A BUYER: They actually had a decent selection of all sorts of baby items. In addition to general clothing items (which are sorted by size and color), they also have larger items like strollers, high chairs, bassinets, rock & plays, walkers, gates, etc. Their prices seemed fair considering that the items looked to be in good condition. If you look hard enough, you might even find something name brand items. On the day we visited, we found a Boon high chair for $50! Overall, if you're in need of some cheap second-hand baby items, I would check this place out. AS A SELLER: We didn't have that high of an expectation going in... and we were right. They are extremely picky on what they take and it's completely determined by their computer system. Btw, they won't explain why they didn't accept an item even if you ask. I got the sense that they pretty much only take items from popular brands. Out of the box of toys and clothes we brought in, they accepted a Fisher Price First Blocks ($10), a wooden train pull toy ($12), a set of interchangeable figurines ($8), and a set of baby clothes with matching hat/onesie/pants/socks ($15). The rough current prices are shown. For all 4 items, we got $6.49. I guess it's better than nothing if you just want to get rid of stuff? The service on the other hand was pretty crappy. The guy taking the items (seems like the manager) was extremely grumpy. He said it would take roughly 45 mins and I would get a call when they're done. I was curious how their system worked so I kept an eye on them while shopping around the store. By 20 min, they were done with my stuff but no call. When we were about to leave at the 50 min mark, still no call. I had to go up and ask again. IMPORTANT: Read their pickup policy! It's quite funky. Once dropped off, you have 2 days to collect your money + pick up the remaining items. If you don't, they keep the items for free and "donate" the rest. But get this, if you do come and pick up but simply don't want to keep the rest of the items, they wouldn't take them b/c they "can't take donations". Umm... contradiction? read more

Just a customer's review/perspective. My kiddos have just become teenagers, so I won't be needing to shop here anymore, but I want to leave a review about our first experience here a few years ago, when they were kids. Let me tell the story of how we discovered (and liked) this place. So, I was driving through the parking lot and discovered a (now gone) little thrift shop. I was excited to show my kids what a thrift shop was, and so we went into that store first, and they really liked it. The buying-used-from-a-store concept was absolutely new to them. We spent quite a bit of time in there just looking around. After we were done there, and on our way out to the car clutching whatever trinket we purchased, we saw Once Upon a Child in the same shopping strip. We went in knowing nothing about the place. We were staring down the isles as we passed them, just asking questions amongst ourselves. The kids and I realized that, it too, was second-hand store - only much more organized! And for kids! So we headed to the toy section - and this is where it got really cool because, they had this one discontinued Transformers Bumble Bee Toy! Big, bulky, and retro! My son was a HUGE TRANSFORMERS FAN at the time and he just lit up. He immediately picked it up and asked for it, and I was like, sure honey!! I mean, to see him excited about something - anything - is just a good feeling, as a mom. :) I remember the toy was $10 or so... but frankly, I didn't care about the cost, because, they had something my son wouldn't have found anywhere else.. 100% recommend this store. Best bargains EVER for children's clothes (and toys/supplies). Racks are VERY organized, which makes searching for that amazing deal pretty easy. My kids outgrow things so quickly, it's crazy to spend full-price for name-brand clothes... but we've found some great things here from designer brands. Staff is always helpful. First time selling here and I was very disappointed at the entire process. When they were done with checking all the clothes I brought, they selected 4 items and wanted to pay me $4 for everything. That's $1 per time which they will turn around and sell for $5-10 each. I also had to pick everything up within 24 hours. If I didn't run back, they had the "right" to keep everything & sell as They desired.... Smells like a scam.... They don't care what you bring in. They input everything in a computer and that's it. Mindless process and workers. I prefer to take a tax write off (which ironically will pay better) than support this scam. I feel happier donating clothes to someone who needs it than supporting this store and their unfair process. Don't sell here!!! read more

The rudest absolute worst experience in a retail environment ever. They will not even tell you over the phone what your offer is when they call you and tell you it's ready. You have to drive across town to even get to know if you're getting $10 or $100 or zero and they'll donate your stuff or sell it for profit if you cannot make it back the same day! What a waste of time. The lady was rude in the phone and the man who is there is rude as well. I will never ever recommend this place to anyone. The manager of the cedar park location is 100x more pleasant and professional. I don't leave many reviews but this one was worth sharing. I have been going to the Round Rock location for years, even when they moved, and have never been disappointed. In fact, I recommend it to everyone. Last visit, 10-30-19, I was terribly disappointed in the clothes, the prices, the wear and tear on the clothes, the emptiness on the racks. It looked like a different store with clothes on the floor and nothing worth buying. I looked in 6 different sizes for my grandchildren and found about 3 things. Did they change management? My review is based on my selling experience - we had several errands to run and I didn't have time to shop. But they seemed to have a lot in stock so I'm sure we'll be back soon. Had a tub of clothes and a couple of items of baby gear to sell. The staff were very welcoming and professional. The owner called me about an hour later to let me know our quote was ready. When we went back one of the salesgirls returned the items they didn't want, and gave me the quote for the gear and clothing items they wanted to buy. It was reasonable so five minutes later I was out the door with a check. I was a bit surprised at the items they didn't select, the salesgirl said sometimes it's condition, or demand for type and size. Pros - the quote is the quote, you don't get a different price for taking store credit instead of cash. Tip - sort your items into size and type before you come and pack them nicely into boxes or tubs. Also they have a 2-box limit for a single trip. (The helpful associate I talked to the day before on the phone let me know about the limit.) read more

I absolutely LOVE this place. The staff is extremely nice and welcoming. The store is very clean and organized. I shop at resale shops all the time and this is one of the best. Their selection of clothes and shoes are amazing. The majority are name brand and their prices are more than reasonable. You can find major deals there for your little boy or girl. I also sell my daughters old clothes and shoes to them and I've had great experiences with that. They take the majority of my items and give me a great, reasonable about of money (or store credit!). They have strollers, costumes, swim suits, bows and headbands, onesies, outfits, jeans, shorts, leggings, holiday clothing, short and long sleeve tops, dresses, and jackets of all kinds. Plus a huge toy area in the back. They also have an amazing selection of tennis shoes, boots, tap and ballet shoes, ballet flats, etc...for an amazing price. I don't see why people have problems with either location I've gone to both locations like 3 times each and have gotten over $50 each time. What I love about this place: -With a fast growing toddler you can not beat the prices here. I bought 5 pairs of plaid shorts for 5 dollars and they are in great shape. -My favorite cashier is Pearl. She is amazing with the kids, is great with customers, she is very friendly, and makes sure you know of any upcoming deals. -Each aisle is organized by size and type of clothing and makes digging through them a little easier. What I do not like: -The toys are all put in separate mesh like bags which makes it hard to realize what you are holding and harder to test it with your toddler to see if they will play with it at all. -The aisles can start feeling a little tight when there is more than one family in them. -There is man that works here that makes each visit a little tense. The minute you walk in he avoids eye contact with customers, he looks very angry and aggressive, and annoyed with everything. He is very off putting and very unwelcoming. I have seen him at least a dozen times and not once has this man smiled. He really should work on his customer service skills. Just smile Sir. Overall, I really like this place. read more

Great selection! Store is very neat and organized! Bought some at regular price and all clearance was further reduced!! Nobody made a funny face when my niece tried on 30 items and bought maybe 15! All toys in very neat resell bags. Makes it easy to sort through. Store employees very nice. When this store was at the previous location the service was better the clothes nicer and the prices better. Now at least some of the workers are abrasive, the clothes are not as thoroughly inspected and the prices are higher. I can deal with searching for nice clothes and deals. Though, I will not continue with my patronage if the service is not trained how to treat customers. (Yes, employees should be treated in a respectful manner with out fear or abuse from customers.) CUSTOMERS are NOT ALWAYS RIGHT but they do always pay the salary and should be respected as a wonderful happy source of income. Being churlish and snippety is not acceptable! I'm actually disappointed. The first time I came there they were fair and gave me a decent amount on money back (65) for the hundreds of dollars of clothes they kept. I came a second time thinking I was going to get the same consistent treatment. I was so wrong! They took brand new clothes that still had the tags. All in perfect condition. At least 300 worth. And they only gave me 45 back. I'm the idiot who agreed to it. But you better believe that I will NEVER be back there again. I drove all the way from Killeen too. Fool me once... never again! I get to the store and they let me know they passed on my items (3/2). I get home and realize things are missing but just tell myself I'm not going to stress over it. It is what it is. However, I get a call today stating that I've had an offer waiting from 3/2 and that I needed to come today. I let them know what happened and they tell me well do you know who you spoke to? I try to explain and let them know I cannot come today that I can this weekend and they then tell me they can't hold my items that long. LOL even though it was their mistake and I could of picked up the offer when I picked up my "passed on items". What a joke. I think I'll stick to SparkleKids from now on. read more
