This location is by far my favorite out of any I have been to. The staff is INCREDIBLE, and are always so helpful, kind, and welcoming. The selection is also great, and although they seem to be a high traffic store, it has been very organized and neat every time I have visited. Visited this location for the first time yesterday, Sunday, to drop off some items. I drove in from Plano based on prior reviews in Yelp. I had been going to the Plano location for the longest, because that's what was closest. After yesterday, though, I will be driving to the Carrollton location instead! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by every one. That was such a nice welcome vs the other locations I've been to. I was the second one in the door, so my wait was less than 30 minutes. I really wanted to like this store and get a good deal, but for clothes it's not a good deal. The only things that you get discounted on are outfit sets for baby clothes. And anything with tags still on. I found a shirt that they charged for $5.50 and the same shirt at Walmart cost $4. The shoes are all bad quality. The only discounted items were clothes that were all worn out due to washing. The baby furniture and toys seem to be the best items and strollers. There were more people selling their clothes to them versus people buying clothes from them. read more

Once Upon a Child is a great place to shop and save. When my child outgrows clothes, I go there to find if there is an opportunity for them to buy the clothes. While I'm waiting to hear back about my buy (usually takes around 30-45 minutes if they aren't too busy), I shop for clothes in the store that my child likes at a reasonable price. The location has in style/ on trend clothes, shoes, books, games, baby strollers, cribs, accessories and toys. I have even purchased brand new clothes there for a fraction of the price I would at retail stores. You also earn points for each purchase if you sign up for their reward program. Okay so I see a lot on costumer service but come on, you can't beat these prices!!! I go every season and buy everything I need for my kids. Yesterday I spent $200 for over 30 items. I recently went with a sterilite box and a bag of clothes I was able to sell about half my stuff and got back stuff that was stained and torn which I didn't know. The lady explained to me that if I want to sell again to ensure they aren't stained and they might take more clothes. She was very nice and helpful and took the time to explain to me their process. The one who took my clothes initially told me it was going to be 1-2 hr wait which was fine but she was friendly about it and it ended up being right under an hour. The employees here are very nice, and friendly and seem to like what they do which is rare nowadays. I sold some and bought some so they definitely know how to pick out the right clothes. 10/10 recommend read more

After reading the previous reviews I feel like most people need to know what they are getting into before selling. You will not be making top dollar on your items! All consignment and resale places have to make a profit, and if you get over this mindset then you might have a better experience. After coming to this location quarterly for the last five years, I can say that it is my favorite once upon a child location! The managers and staff are always very helpful, kind, and the place is the cleanest out of all of the ones I've been to. They have great sales, and great selections. I always leave with something! In terms of the buys, they usually buy some thing from me every time, of course, it's not going to be a lot of money back, but anything is good, especially when you're constantly buying clothes for your growing children. read more

Just visited this store for the first time to sell my daughter's collection of clothes she's outgrown. I brought in 5 bags (think Whole Foods brown paper bag) filled to the brim, not wasting an inch of precious bag real estate. I got $43 for it. Considering I used to work at a used books store, I understand how the buying model works and considering how affordable their clothes are, I thought I got a fair trade. In actuality, they only bought 41 items and they allowed me to donate the rest (thank goodness because I did not want to bring them back home). Most of the clothes I brought in ended up being donated, which was ok by me. They're really looking for new looking clothes. If it looks worn, it will probably be donated. The staff was nice but most weren't wearing masks. They're pretty far away from you for the most part so it's not a big deal. They were very busy but had a positive attitude and worked as fast as they could (I waited an hour). You have the option to leave the store too if you don't want to shop. As for shopping while I waited, their racks are full and well organized. I ended up buying 3 outfits and left the store with about 25 bucks. They also sell strollers, toys, activity centers, walkers, backpacks, play pens, etc at good prices. I would definitely come back the next time we clean out the closet. I've sold a lot of my old tween clothes here and gotten pretty reasonable buys! Only reason for 4 stars is they usually don't take girls sizes above 14 or 16 and will tell you some clothes weren't accepted due to larger sizes, but overall great way to get rid of old kids clothing! read more

We've been here a handful of times. We came earlier on in my son's life a time or two to buy things I had trouble finding elsewhere. I found a sweet bomber jacket, for instance, and it was super cheap. While we didn't buy much here, I was always amazed at the prices (CHEAP), the organization (shirts by color, everything by type, wonderfully OCD), and the general cleanliness of the store. Unlike other reviewers, I've never had trouble with rude or apathetic employees. I haven't tried to sell a bunch of stuff here (we usually just donate it), but I did get $5 for a little trike recently. I was just going to drop it off, but she said, "Don't you want something for it?" I paused and said, "Well, what's it worth?" I wasn't sticking around for 1 or 2 bucks. But I thought $5 was very fair. As far as getting much for other clothes, let's be honest: if they're selling them for great deals, how can they afford to pay you much for your clothes? They have to leave some room to mark it up and make a *little* money on each item, so they can't pay you very much if they're going to turn around and sell it for cheap. I think this is a great local go-to for cheap baby and kids' clothes that are in great shape. And a lot of people need that, so this store gets two thumbs up from me. read more

I have shopped at this once upon a child location for 10 plus years. I have bought and sold a TON in that time frame. The change in recent ownership has really changed this store. It's now filled with worn looking cat and jack clothes and a poor shoe selection. It's frustrating when as a seller your items are not bought because the have "stains" or wear and then you go through the racks to find items with broken zippers and holes in sleeves. This was my first time ever stepping foot into a Once Upon A Child store & I am left speechless at the customer service, urgency and amazing inventory they have in store. I arrived at 10:00am right as they opened to resell some of my son's clothing and baby supplies. I was greeted, and checked in and given a time my order would be ready for pick up. I walked around while I waited, they have a great selection of ANYTHING you need from premie - size 18, toys, books you name it they have it. My family and I will definitely be returning! I truly love this place. I just had my daughter about 5 months ago and this place has been a life saver. If the clothes are stain free and in good condition they buy back almost everything. They have such a great selection;clothes are easily worn some even brand new. We do occasionally get unworn clothes but with babies resale clothing is the way to go. They also have a great book and toy selection. Some toys are wrapped in a bag for sanitary reasons. If you are looking to get a little (emphasis on little) cash, this is the place. I brought 5 pairs of shoes here (Adidas, Nike, and Reebok) to get a quote. 4 had been worn 2-3 times at the most and cost nearly $200 new. They offered a whopping $10.80. When i went back to have them return the shoes, they took almost 30 minutes to find them with 2-3 employees looking for them at times. It was completely disorganized and the employees couldn't be bothered to be nice to you. My 11 year old son totally thought we'd get about $30 for a quote and even he was offended at their offer. They have a large selection of clothing but what i saw for boys a lot of it were old styles from maybe 5-6 years ago (carpenter pants, boot leg, etc.) Some of it was pricey. For instance, old style jeans were $8-9. I felt it was a complete waste of my time and gas. If you're in the area and have time to kill, then it might be worth a visit. Otherwise, don't bother making a special trip. read more

This is probably the worst Once Upon a Child I have ever been to. My last visit made it final that I will never be returning to this Once Upon a Child and will be driving the extra 10 miles to get to the one on Independence in Plano. In our last experience with the store we had quite a bit of clothes to bring drop off so I had my husband call to see how long the wait was. He called and was told the wait was about 2-2.5 hours. When he dropped the clothes off at 12:00 pm he was quote the same 2-2.5 hours. We headed back there 2 hours later to go pick out some clothes for our son and wait for them to be done sorting through our drop off. After 45 minutes of clothes shopping my husband went to ask them how much longer it would be. He was told "there are 11-12 people in front of you so it won't be done until later this afternoon".... So what was supposed to be done at 2-3 pm was now supposed to be even later. Annoyed we had them hold the clothes we had picked out and headed home to wait for them to call. At 7 pm my husband got the call that they were done with our clothes and would not be accepting any items..... My husband went back to buy the items we had picked out and get the clothes we dropped off. He spoke to the manager who used the excuse "we had a lot of toy and baby equipment drop offs so we had to process them before your drop off since we do not have the room to store them". No sort of concern for their customers at all... The worst part is that it isn't the first time they had done that to us. Several times they have claimed "we won't be accepting any items you brought" when they have stained clothes on their racks and we have brought in near new baby gap, Nike, etc. We have even left their store and drove directly to the one on Independence to have that store accept almost all of our items. Don't waste your time with this store, there are much better ones. read more

The selection is really good for the most part. I always find alot of things for my kids. Their clothing selection is good. The book selection is good as well. The toy selection is kind of eh. But I get that depends on what people trade in. Same goes for shoes. The problem is the staff can be really rude and condescending. Which it is what it is but I mean we as customers are choosing to spend our money here so maybe if your staff doesn't like working at this place or gets frustrating that easily with people's children then maybe find somewhere else to work. Which I guess people do since there seems to be a high turnover rate since everytime I go in there is always new staff. All in all the store isn't too bad and you always find a lot of things. I visited this location today, the two girls that help me check in my clothes were super nice and everything was going well. I started shopping for other things and then I get a text that they are ready. I got a good amount for the little clothes that they did take. Only problem was when it was time to check out, it was like no one wanted to check my stuff out for purchase. Like there were 10 people behind the counter and they were pretty childish about not wanting to get to the register. I overheard one of them say as a family walked in to another to "keep an eye on them, they might steal". First off, don't say things like that within earshot of other customers. Overall experience is a 2, only because there were 2 employees that were actually decent. It is the worst once upon a child I have been in customer service wise and cleanliness. Don't waste time trying to sell clothes here. I had a meeting down the street from this store, so I thought I would bring in the bins of clothes and shoes I had from cleaning out my children's closets recently. I've sold at other locations before so know they are picky about what they take, so everything in these bins were barely worn (some still with tags), name brand items. Once i hauled in my bins, I was informed it was a two-three hour wait. I couldn't wait, as I had another meeting 30 minutes away, so I left my bins and decided to come back. Two and a half hours later and a quarter of a tank of gas later, I got $20!! For the amount of time they make you wait, it is SO not worth it. Looking around at their disappointing selection of clothes, I'm a little surprised at what they turned down too. Definitely going elsewhere or donating next time! read more

I've been coming here for quite some time. Today happens to be the first time I get home and the large amount of money for a consignment store that I spent doesn't fit my daughter. I called to see if I could get my money back and they tell me since I have detached the tags, that I would not be able to get all my money back, but some. I still had the tags? Every single store I've been to allows you to take the tags back with the merchandise and get your money back. They told me I could sell what I just bought back to them and hope to get what I just paid for it... that policy needs to be changed! Very upset momma right here! read more

Just happened to find this place when out at lunch one day and shopping nearby. And it occurs to me as I am typing this that I would rather people not shop there because I want all the deals to myself, but I guess it would be wrong not to share with the world. I came in because I needed soccer shorts and didnt want to pay full price. I did find a few pair for my 5 year old for $2.50-$5 each, so I was happy. What I loved more was that there was a clearance going on and I bought a bunch of clothes that were winter themed (this is right before spring) for $1 each!!! $1 each!!! They also had used shoes, toys, and baby necessities. If you have kids you should DEF at least check this place out. read more

This Once Upon A Child has more of a selection than anyone I've been to! The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is calm. It's a little crowded, but I love that the place has so much to look through. It would be so much better if it were a little bigger, but for the size they do a good job of keeping it clean and well organized. I stopped there while visiting family in the area and left with a wonderful shopping cart cover for only $10. The toddler toys seemed a little overpriced for being resale items, but still cheaper than what you would buy new ones for. The clothes were inexpensive, but a few of them had stains that may not have been easy to others to see in the store lighting. Be careful with that... I would hate to get a nice white outfit from there only the find out in the sunlight that it had a noticable stain. Other than that, I was happy making the stop there. read more

I've been shopping at Once Upon A Child forever, however I've never been to this particular location. Of course they have a huge selection of baby and kid clothes, toys, shoes, books, and baby gear (strollers, potties, bassinets, toddler beds, etc.). I decided to sell back a bunch of my sons stuff fully expecting to only get back about $30 and expecting most of his stuff to be given back to me. I expected this because of other reviews, I was pleasantly surprised to get over 3 times that amount and they only took about half of the items I brought in. I really didn't have any flashy labels or high end stuff either. I brought in clean clothes that were organized and in great shape. I will definitely be selling to this location again in the future! I go crazy in here shopping for my niece and nephew. It almost doesn't make sense to shop anywhere else- with how fast kids outgrow clothes. The items are in great condition if not brand new. A better selection than any place I've ever been - including children's stores or department stores. I never bought any toys here, so I can't speak about that. I can't say anything about the experience of selling back clothes, because I didn't do that either. Considering the condition of the clothes, I bet they are strict. But as for buying- I couldn't believe how much stuff I came out of here with. What adorable clothes they have, especially for baby girls. This place is a disgrace. Not only are their prices higher than most consignment stores, their customer services is some of the WORST I have ever encountered. I brought in an entire bin of seasonal clothes...all in great condition and some even brand new with tags still on them. I cleaned, ironed and folded the items, too. I went on a Saturday, so it was pretty busy, but they only had my bin for about 30 minutes before telling me they couldn't accept any of it. When I asked why, the male clerk (wish I would've gotten the a-hole's name) laughed at me and said, "It's not my fault you got ugly crap for your kid." When I asked to speak to someone else, he laughed AGAIN and said "Won't matter- they still won't want your junk." I tell everyone I know how horrible that experience was. I'd been going to the other location near Skillman but since it closed, I came here instead. What a difference! Completely organized, tons of stock, knowledgeable employees. No, you won't make a fortune on your clothes (I had some brand new shoes and got about $3 per pair) but if you take their equation into account and realize their sale prices are low and fair, it all works. I brought a full bin of clothes and walked out with over $100. Granted, I probably paid six times that retail, but I would've made nothing has it still been sitting in my garage so to me, it's a win win. read more

Sometimes you can find a hidden gem.....if you have time to shop.....which means you probably don't have your kids with you. Prices are ok but I've had better luck at garage sales. It is very well organized and that is very appreciated because I pretty much always have the kiddos when I shop so the faster I can get in and out the better my chances are to not leave with toys we did NOT need to bring home with us. If you sell here just know you will not get anywhere close to what you think something is worth. I had a pair of $50 boys Nike's that they said they would give me $2.50 for. They had been worn 5 months and still looked very nice. So do t go in with high expectations. If you don't have time to hold your own garage sale or sell items through some popular re-sale apps, then this is a last ditch effort to get some money for the nicer stuff you don't want to just donate. They are particular on what they take which is good for the shopper but cuts out from your total if you are selling. All in all it's great to buy second hand if you want or need, reuse reduce recycle. There clearance sales are not worth the hype, it's normally the bottom of the barrel stuff. read more

UPDATE: Shortly after posting this review the location owner contacted me with a personal phone call to personally apologize for the experience that my family had in her store. She assured me that she investigated (looked at her cameras) and agreed with everything that i spoke about in my review and again apologized assuring me that the problem had been taken care of on her end. I emailed her a short time later hoping to work with her on resolving our "stolen" items and hopefully rebuilding the trust in her business. Needless to say my attempts to work with her on my items received a response but no resolution, my second email was not even responded to. We have decided to take our business elsewhere, possibly to another location or another brand all together. We have sold and spent a lot of money at this location in the past and it was a very upsetting development, i was sure the owner was interested in mending our relationship with her store, but i think in the end she just wanted to bad review to come down, and when it didn't she did not pursue the matter with us any further. read more

Wow, this store has an incredibly huge selection of baby clothes for all ages and sizes!! We just had our first baby boy and starting to realize what it costs to provide for a baby. We went through ALL of our newborn clothes within 2 weeks, so by week three we were in desperate need for some new clothes. After spending nearly $100 at Babies R Us for his first sets, we decided to go the used route. My was I pleasantly surprised when I walked into Once Upon a Child and saw their wide selection that came with a Very Cheap price tag!! I got 20 onesies for $20!! That's right.. On the very first right hand wall as soon as you walk in, they have 10 onesies for $10 Sale. These are very good name brand quality onesies also, I even found the same EXACT onesies I just bought a Babies R Us two weeks prior! Wish I would have known about this place sooner.. There's just no reason to spend lots of money on a huge corporation with overpriced baby clothes that are most likely made in China with slave labor. I do love this store for my daughter's clothing needs. I find beautiful dresses way less than any store-some with the tags still attached. I've visited this store for almost three years,and it seems the staff is always grouchy and uptight. Don't know if they are under a lot of stress with the buying and pricing but they are just not too friendly for some reason. That won't stop me from shopping there though.
