Because my home is less than 10 years old, the quote seemed unreasonable, so I obtained a second opinion from another licensed electrician. I was informed that the underground service conductor issue was the responsibility of Xcel Energy, not the homeowner. I contacted Xcel Energy directly, and they inspected the issue and completed the necessary work within two days at no cost to me. Based on these facts, I believe I was asked to pay more than $2,000 for work that either was unnecessary or was the responsibility of the utility company rather than the homeowner. In my opinion, this was a serious attempt to charge me for work that I did not need to pay for. I strongly recommend that anyone receiving a costly estimate for service entrance or meter-related electrical work obtain a second opinion and contact their utility company before authorizing repairs. Basically, Zach/ Norske Electric, Inc. try to scam me for 2,000

I'm unhappy with my D R Electric experience…read more D R Electric was hired as a subcontractor of Chimney Doctors to run a circuit to a fireplace in my house. I spoke with the electrician as he was starting work to discuss the plan for routing the wiring (in unfinished basement areas, passing through one wall with none of the wiring needing to be hidden. Very typical, not fancy). I was shocked when he explained the way he wanted to run the wire. His ideas involved no less work than mine but it was as though he was trying to describe the worst, laziest and ugliest way to run the circuit. I did not feel comfortable that this person who clearly did not care how his work looked was in my house and about to start work. It was made clear how to run the line but they decided to run it a different way. When I told Chimney Doctors (who D R was directly working for) the work was not as planned and unacceptable I was told I was on my own to sort it out with D R Electric. I wasn't eager to pay even more money for someone who's idea of acceptable work I already don't trust to come back to my house do do more work. It was up to me to fix their work myself. The part of the work they refused to do (drill a simple hole in concrete block and simply pass conduit through) was easy. I did the part they balked at in less than five minutes. Except D R Electric has a fee for their work. And I'm also paying for additional materials and permit fees. To undo and fix their work.
