I go way back with this company. It started with the split type AC units in 4 rooms. No need to leave it on all day in the summer when you aren't home cause it cools a room quickly. They did a beautiful job of heating the bedroom floor. We had heating units installed in the basement also. The key here is maintaining the unit and getting it cleaned out the first sign of winter. Same with the AC. Around May there are great deals on new AC units with rebates. I love that this is a family business and that you can feel secure that it won't be going out of business. I called to schedule a hot water pipe repair. I sent pictures to a representative. She dropped the ball after stating she would call me back. Three days past and when I called back to see if they would do the job the representative acted like I never talked to her. Once she found my request she talked to someone in the office and stated they would do the job. I asked when could we set up a time. She stated she did not know and she would call me back in a couple weeks. I have never received such poor customer service from Boehm before. They originally installed the heating unit. Over the years they came out for service. I am not sure if they are so busy that they can afford to provide such poor customer service. I will look elsewhere for service in the future. Jeff Boehm made the time to come by as soon as he could, and within a few hours, he dropped a handwritten estimate for install on a new boiler on my front porch. Within the week, the whole family crew was out, setting me up with heating that worked far better than before. And when a few of my ancient radiator valves later leaked (they weren't used to have a boiler with real power!), Jeff came out to fix them right away. I could not be more impressed with Boehm. I had a pilot light gas valve start leaking and needed to be replaced. The Xcel Energy gas guy told me exactly what the problem was and what needed to be replaced, so I didn't want to pay $80 - $120 to have a company come out and give me a quote and tell me what was wrong. Several companies were not even willing to quote me without coming out to my house for a fee. The ones that would talk to me and gave me pricing via email/phone ranged from $650 to $1,400. When I talked to Boehm I could tell they ran their business differently. I got a reasonable quote for $480 from Boehm and scheduled the repair with them. They just left my house with my boiler working and only charged me $388 because it took them less time than they quoted. I am so happy with their honesty and willingness to fix my old boiler rather than try and sell me a new one. I will be calling Boehm for all my future heating needs. read more

Tldr: Jeff Boehm went above and beyond in making my project a priority at an affordable price point! What's more, he and his crew were extremely friendly, genuinely caring and did a phenomenal job installing my new gas boiler!! What's not to love? The details: After having some work done on a leaky gas line, my 70-year-old boiler was red tagged by Centerpoint Energy for a high carbon monoxide reading (340 ppm). The timing of these events is never good, but this was especially so with the early Nov. temps dropping down to the 20s and me being scheduled for surgery in the next two weeks?! Yikes! I phoned three companies to schedule estimates. All three were saying they were three-four weeks out in scheduling installation of new boilers?! Jeff came to do the bid himself, asked a lot of questions, actually listened to my answers, took many measurements and presented me with a thorough and reasonable bid. More importantly, he said that he understood my predicament with the upcoming surgery and said that he would work with me to get it done within a week. Jeff's sincerity and warmth, coupled with a reasonable bid and expedited service made my decision of whom to hire an easy one. :-) For the next week, I borrowed space heaters from friends and family. Brrrr, my 110-year-old house was chilly! The night before the install, Jeff came over and drained the system so it would be ready for the crew in the morning. Promptly at 8:30 am, the four-man crew was present and immediately got down to work. They removed my old Janitrol boiler and replaced it with one about 1/3 the size. We decided on an 84% efficient Weil-McClein CGa-4 boiler. (They're known for being reliable and easy to maintain.) Jeff and his crew worked through the entire day installing the boiler with additional safety features like balancing valves to help manage my heating plant more efficiently and easily. Around 5pm they invited me down to see my new heating plant. While Jeff put the finishing touches on a few welds, his crew made sure all the mess was cleaned up. Jeff then led a mini workshop, preparing me for things to be different (explaining how the circulating pump would change how my system operated), there would be new noises (not be alarmed by them, they are normal operation sounds), patiently he explained all the valves, how to maintain the system and when I said I was a bit overwhelmed with information, he repeated all the information again so I could make a video. What a nice guy! It's been about three weeks now and the boiler and new thermostat are working great! The system cycles more frequently, but for shorter periods of time; the heat is almost instantaneous, even up on the second floor. In fact, radiators that were only moderately warm for the last 23 years are now hot to the touch. I've gotten used to the new sounds, the new thermostat and the reliable heat. We have used Boehm many times over the years. Most recently they installed a mini split A/C unit in our 1908 home with heads up and downstairs. We had received another estimate, but were displeased with where the installer was proposing to install the upstairs head (the proposed location would have resulted in less work for the installer and would have been a very imperfect solution). Boehm came in to look and came up with a brilliant solution, that while more work for them as the installer, gave us what we needed and where we needed it. They were concerned with what we needed in the long run, not just a quick and dirty install. They came in and the unit and electrical sub-panel was installed about two weeks after we paid the down payment. We are very pleased with the result. read more

I have some very old converted boilers in an old house. Boehm serviced them for a very reasonable price. One of the boilers developed an issue a month later and Boehm came back out and quickly diagnosed the issue & fixed it for no fee. A lot of HVAC companies don't know much about ancient boiler systems, but Boehm doesn't shy away from them. We bought our house in the early summer. The inspector checked on the boiler and said it was good. We didn't think twice. Fall came, it was a cold morning, and no heat! My husband called Boehm Heating based on a recommendation of a friend, and they walked him through what to check and they fixed it together over the phone. No service call! No fee! I was shocked at that level of customer service, to be honest. Well, when it came time for maintenance and a quick repair, guess who we called first? That's right. They came the next day, fixed it up, and at a very reasonable price. We've had phone calls in to them for questions on what we should do, and they are always patient and walk us through what needs to be done. They came out again when our boiler completely seized (not the right term, I'm sure, but it didn't work at all). They were out the same day. I cannot recommend them enough. read more

When our tenants called at 5pm, two days before a polar vortex was arriving, to say they weren't getting heat from their radiators I knew our 100 yr. old boiler was toast! We had Boehm install our new boiler last year. They gave us a great quote compared to other companies and we had a warm winter. This year, during the deep freeze spell, one heating zone in our home wasn't working well. I called and received phone guidance in problem solving. The problem persisted so a tech came to our home to see if it was a bigger "zone problem." Bill, the tech who arrived at our home, realized there was simply a deep air pocket in our radiator system. He did a more extensive draining and bleeding than we could have attempted. And, he didn't charge us for the visit. Great service with a company that takes pride and honors their work. So it was starting to get a little chilly, better fire up the furnace. Click. Hmm. Click. Nothing. Great. Go through that dance and long story short, furnace isn't kicking on. After many attempts of trying to fix it myself (aka hitting it with a hammer), I researched a bit for someone local that wasn't going to try and sell me the world. With some trepidation, I called up Boehm on a Friday morning. They were swamped, as all of the service providers likely were on the first chilly week of fall. I was queued up and would have to stick it out over the weekend. Throughout this time, I spoke with Tom Jr several times as he gave me some very clear instructions on trying to resolve the issue myself. I was pleasantly surprised with this, despite the fact that none of those fixes worked. Monday came and I called again to see what the status would be. They still had a fair amount to get through but one of the installers made it to me by mid afternoon. After about an hour of pulling apart & putting back together, I finally had heat. That was the good news. The bad news was that my heat exchanger was cracked. He did a good job of explaining what, why and how and I felt very confident that I wasn't being sold on something. About a week later, Tom Jr came back out for an estimate on a full replacement. He again showed his knowledge of my system and addressed a couple issues I had been having before I even brought them up. During this time I also had a friend of a friend come out and give an estimate to compare against. A week later I received my estimate which was significantly lower than the other I had received - not to mention the estimate included the service work already performed. Roughly a week later the installer came out and I had a new, safely working furnace in about 4 hours. No issues with the install, operation or details. Overall I was very pleased with my experience and will recommend others to use Boehm. My biggest issue was that I did need to follow up several times throughout the process. I understand this was happening during what is likely their peak load for the year but I would have liked to see some improved communication. Boehm installed a new boiler for me 6 years ago, were pleasant and good to work with. I thought it was a nice benefit of working with a small company. However, this year when my system had a problem with not holding pressure I called for service. They told me that there were 15 people without heat ahead of me and they didn't know when they could get out to see me, and definitely not within the week. Then they called the next day and said that they were a small company, and really busy, and that I should call another company, and maybe it was a plumbing problem despite no visible water leakage. I was really shocked that they would have installed my boiler and yet the first time I reached out to them suggested I go to another company. I did call another company and they are coming out tomorrow. When I called back to tell them I had contacted another company and that I was disappointed in my service, the woman on the phone started getting argumentative and telling me there were 35 people without heat ahead of me, even though I knew the answer was 15 people the day before. I am really shocked and unhappy with their behavior. I would recommend using a company with better service who back up the units they install. read more

I havd never been more grateful to a "business" than I was about 2 weeks ago. I put business in quotes because Jeff Boehm and his company literally saved the day and my sanity. About 2 days before temps were going to and did drop below zero, I had different company do a $49 tune up on boiler. Big mistake. They had me convinced it was leaking CO2 and numerous other issues and shut it down. Their sales people at my home for at least 4 hours, finally convincing me to sign contract and give them $4500.00. although I kept saying I wanted another estimate. I was "allowed to call boehm after signing with them. Since I had tried to connect with boehm earlier, called to state I had signed contract. Jeff boehm was on other side of town. when he heard how much they were charging me, he stated he'd be at house, reminded me I had 3 days to rescind and was at my house at 5:00. He did agree seals were bad and combustion chamber not good. He and his dad and their team were at the house the next day and had new boiler running by the afternoon. In this big city it is nice to know there are still home town heroes (oh and their price about half of other company's original bid. Jeff and his dad had installed old boiler about 25 years ago. Like another review I just recently bought a house and was told that the boiler was in great working order. However, right before the first snow fall and negative degree weather my boiler decided to stop working. I panicked and called Bonfe because they have previously services the boiler and they tried to sell me a $14,000 boiler that got horrible reviews. On the recommendation of a neighbor I called Boehm in an absolute panic. Cyndi who answered the phone was so kind, responsive, and understanding. She had Jeff call me immediately and he was able to come out that same day and quoted me a better boiler for more then half the price. Jeff spent over an hour with me explaining my heating system and what work they would do. They come over the next day and before I knew it I finally had heat. The team from Boehm heating is great in all aspects, including honesty, service, and professionalism. I would recommend Boehm to anyone. Another local heating company offering "specials" on cleaning and furnace tune ups that I had a one-year service with did NOTHING but look at my furnace (and AC) and tell me all of the things wrong with it and how much $$ it would cost to fix each part so better to replace and he had even seen other companies red tag a furnace for less. Boehm came to the house for a 2nd opinion as I had several neighbors recommend them and wasn't comfortable about how the other company approached the process. Jim (the owner) looked at the furnace and acknowledged the system was old but definitely had some life left in it if I wanted to wait. Over the phone he helped me diagnose an issue a couple weeks later when the furnace wasn't working and even sent one of his technicians out after that for no service fee when they determined the part just needed a brief cleaning even though I had just had it cleaned/serviced by the other company. The system ran well all the following year and my mind was made up to use Boehm when I replaced the furnace, AC, and water heater. They replaced all of the units last month with a reasonable price, excellent workmanship, and great service. They made improvements to how the furnace was set up and its working great in my 1930's house. read more

Jim, the owner of Boehm, came to my house and saved me over $6,000 by being honest and telling me I did not need a new boiler. Center Energy through Home Smart came out two days earlier and said I had a cracked gasket and the part alone would cost over 2,000. and I would be better off buying a new boiler. Jim turned a switch off and on and the noise stopped. He said I did not have a cracked gasket but I needed to have my boiler cleaned and I was overdue for that. He said my boiler was running great and it should last 35 years. So if I need a new boiler in 7 years I will be calling Boehm to install one. Thank you, Jim! read more

Once again, Boehm comes through for me! Last year my old, funky furnace needed a new part. At that time, Boehm told me that I would need a new furnace in the next year or two. While I was hoping to get another year out of it, I wasn't so lucky. On a cold Saturday, they got it rigged so I could stay warm until a new one could be installed. Glen provided different options, talked me through the process, and this past Monday he was ready to get the new furnace installed. He and the two other Boehm installers were friendly, polite, and tidy. I came home from work to a warm house and peace of mind. And just now, Glen stopped by to see if I had any questions and to make sure I had figured out how to set up the wi-fi thermostat. If Tom Jr. comes to your door, tell him your not interested and call someone else. We had Boehm come out for a regular check of our boiler on a Thursday. During his visit, he asked us for oil, matches and a flashlight. How many heating repair people come without the basics?! On Saturday, we discovered the boiler was leaking and we had puddles of water in our basement. Tom arrived within a few hours of our call, but said this was entirely unrelated to the work he did on Thursday. Hard to believe when we've never had a boiler issue in the 10 years we have lived in our home. Very arrogant and ill prepared! We won't be using Boehm again and will certainly tell others to go with someone else. read more

My furnace went out of commission last night, and I called Boehm for help. I was advised by their tech consultant that it probably wasn't worth the price of an overtime service call and recommended waiting until morning, when they would be right out. Glad I followed his advice because the next morning Jack was there immediately and had fixed the problem within an hour. I've used Boehm in the past in other hot-water heated houses I've lived in, so when our boiler conked out this spring I gave them a call. Their bid was half of what their competitor was trying to charge, and the work Boehm did was absolutely meticulous. The work was done quickly and well, and they actually upgraded the overall system by breaking it into discrete zones, enhancing the energy efficiency and comfort of the total system. They actually took the time to analyze the existing setup, the needs of the house and overall system, before deciding on what was needed. They don't just swap out like for like, they actually verify what you really need and design for that. It really goes a long way towards establishing trust and peace of mind to know that people who know what they are doing are actually analyzing things and making intelligent design decisions. I called Boehm Heating for an estimate and asked that they come Friday morning. John showed up at 8 am. as promised came, came in and took some measurements and then showed me brochures of his products. It was very straight forward, very easy to understand and he did not take up a lot of my time. He spent just enough time to make his point and answer my questions. He emailed me the estimate the next day and it was a very fair price, so I decided to go with him. we agreed on a time to do the work and his people showed up on time and ready to work.The installation was completed before I got home and I had to go downstairs to make sure it was done because there was no evidence that they had ever been there.No mess was left, everything was cleaned up and gone. John had even overlook one thing when they went to do the install, but he took care of it at no charge.I would recommend Boehm to anyone. Nice job. read more

I don't normally do things like this but as a technician with 10+ years field service experience i feel as though something needs to be said. I went out on a call to a residence for a water leak under a furnace that Boehm heating had been out to a few hours prior to my arrival. The issue/problem they had diagnosed was that the secondary heat exchanger collector box was no good and leaking. They had informed the customer that they could not fix the issue do to them not being Carrier authorized dealer. They left the furnace running and were on their way. Upon my arrival, i noticed the a strong odor and asked if the oven was being ran. When the customer said "No?" i knew there was more going on then he had been lead to believe. I asked the customer to join me upon looking at the furnace, as soon as i seen the sooty water ring around the furnace i knew what the issue was but continued with my diagnosis. I removed the panels only to find the same and it was apparent this issue was nothing new due to the fact it was covered with sooty water had and been rusting out the furnace. I informed the customer that i was going to fire the furnace up and had told him what roll out is, asked him to take a few steps back, the furnace stated and sure enough a huge roll out of flames come at us. For those that dont know roll out is most commonly caused by poor exhausting of the furnace and plugged up heat exchangers. At this point i knew the exchanger was plugged and this comfermed. I started to take readings threw out the house and found CO2 present all over the house. I RED TAGGED the furnace at this point. Xcel had come out while i was there an confirmed that i was 100% correct and RED TAGGED the furnace as well. I am very disappointed that the Boehm technician was just out at this house, not only did he misdiagnose the issue but left the furnace running and put this customers safety in jeopardy. As i was packing up to leave one of the owners of Boehm showed up. I informed him of not only my findings but that Xcel said the same thing, i was supprised that he seemed to just dismiss this issue as it was not a problem. As a technician i find this highly concerning and will make sure to inform as many people as i can about this. It is things and people like this that give us hard working honest HVAC technicians a bad name. read more
