Both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I had yelped the place earlier and knew I wanted the mussels. They were delicious. We also ordered crab/ lobster cakes. A little disappointing. The atmosphere is nice and upbeat. The waitresses were very attentive. The food was not worth the 20 plus $ per plate. The Tuna steak was seared nicely, but stone cold in the middle. Should be room temp to warm. The seafood pasta with bacon was horrid. First, the sauce tasted burned. The linguine was not even cooked. There was one Scallop and three shrimp served in the sauce. Well, I have heard so much about On Broadway I thought I would give it a try! What a total disappointment! The food discriptions didn't match up with what was served! There was no Creole sauce with the lobster & crab cakes, instead some thin white sauce that over powered the taste of the seafood! The Shrimp Scampi was just as bad! Another white sauce instead of the butter garlic sauce and couldn't taste any garlic in it! It was served over an overcooked pasta too! There obviously isn't a chef presiding over the preparation of these dishes or whoever it is; is a lousy chef! Needless to say I will never go back, it wS definitely a waste of my time and money!!!! read more

OK so I have gone here on and off for many years. I have always come away disappointed but today we had three inedible meals. My halibut was bone dry, my wife's fried rice was worse than a frozen meal, and our daughter, who loves chicken, ate less than half of one piece. We were up in Helena visiting some friends and we decided to go to a "nicer" sit down restaurant for my buddy's birthday. We got there and they told us the wait was about 45 minutes. It instead took about an hour and 15 which is fine but once we sat down, the service was terrible. We ordered and got our food in a somewhat timely manner. When we asked for extra drinks and bread, they never arrived. The food had no taste to it. It then took about 30 minutes after we finished our food for our waitress to even come check on us. We had been waiting to pay our tab and get out of there. The whole venture took about 2.5 hours. Unfortunately not worth your time. read more

Visiting from out of town and found this jewel. Everything was tasty, from the app to dessert, to the drinks. I had the Chicken Broadway and it was fantastic. Be careful though, it is piping hot. Just the facts ma'am- I'm in town (what's with the two lane road into the state capital?! - odd) on business. It's late, and I'm hungry. No, I'm not going eat fast food...I've been flying & driving most of the day....fast food ain't gonna help; I need a solid meal. Yelp comes out and I spot this place - looks good. Once again, I'm traveling, hungry and this app shines through. Parking right out front (in the old part of Helena) is decent- I asked the host if they'd tow my car, he smiles "no!" - ok, first hurdle complete! As usual, I'm eating at the bar - local beers on tap (I ordered some prickly pear IPA thing - Decent brew!) and helpful, friendly staff. The Caesar salad was frigging awesome! One of the best I've ever (yes, WITH ANCHOVIES!) eaten - no kidding. Pesto chicken pasta - WOW. That's all I can say....WOW! Excellent. So much food, I had to box the rest up - no room for dessert. While visiting Helena, I had the opportunity to eat at On Broadway twice. Once with my family and then with my spouse .. both times the food was pretty good. My fav is the antipasto plate (yum). The lobster/crab cakes were meh as was the salmon dinner. The filet wrapped in bacon was divine though . . would get that again. Would definitely visit this restaurant again :-) read more

This is our go to place whenever we are celebrating something. Ambiance: The restaurant is designed really cool with about five two tops set on a bridge like structure looking over the whole restaurant. Food: Yet to have a bad pasta here. My favorite is the Gorgonzola Pasta. The lamb skewer appetizers are also great. They make their own pasta in house and you can definitely taste the quality. They have a pretty decent wine list, and their mixed drinks are great too. I recommend getting their early or plan to have drinks and an appetizer in the bar while you wait. I had to choose between this and Lucca's on my short stay into town and I had ended up at a brewery near here and just happened to see it, so I decided to stop in and eat. Boy, was that a good decision. I was told that there was a 20 minute wait, which wasn't ridiculous but I decided to eat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and easy to talk to, he recommended a couple of dishes that looked delicious but I just wasn't in the mood for. I ended up going with a clam sauce dish that was supposed to have a little heat. I ordered a Captain and coke, and it was alright, and the meal came with rolls (tasty) and a salad. He mentioned all of the dressings that were house-made and I went with a parmesan dressing. Usually I can't stand anything but ranch, (call me uncultured) but this dressing was delicious and the salad was fresh. The meal was prompt and it was sure delicious. I was glad I went with a lighter sauce as I'd been eating heavier food this weekend. The clams and sauce tasted very very good, but lacked any kind of heat/spice which wasn't disappointing after all as I think that that might have detracted from the meal. I kind of got a homey feel for this place since we were seated in the loft section overlooking the rest of the dining room. It was fun to watch the cooks and servers from above and we enjoyed our meal.. The food isn't outstanding but I liked the salad and the fresh rolls that come with the dinner. On Broadway is a Helena favorite. If you want good, hearty Italian in a casual atmosphere then this is your place. Reservations are not required or accepted, so on busy nights you may have to wait for 20 minutes. There is ample seating in the bar and the pours of wine are very generous, so it easy to get comfortable there! The pasta is made fresh and is always wonderful. I really like their ceasar salads. The dressing is clearly made from scratch and anchovies top it off. Our favorites are any of the pesto dishes or the spicy clam sauce pasta. We always have enough food to take home for lunch the next day. As I said before, the glasses of wine are generous and they have a good selection. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is casual enough to bring your kids but still feels intimate enough for a date or small gathering. We like sitting upstairs. You feel like you are at your own little table but can still watch everyone downstairs in the kitchen and dining room. The prices are reasonable; no more than the chain joint down the road and with better food and service too. On Broadway is one of our go to restaurants for a casual evening with great food, drinks and hospitality. read more

I've frequented On Broadway for several years now and I am personally a big fan. The food isn't particularly original or innovative but it is consistently delicious. Every time I go I order the pesto pasta and a piece of chocolate mouse. Both of which are sooo good. Advice: If you like peppery salad dressing, you must try the house Italian dressing! It's amazing. I always make sure to save some of my roll so that I can mop up all the extra when I'm done with my lettuce. Skip the appetizers. I tried most of them, and there all so so. Better just to save room for the entre which is plenty big. On Thursday nights, there is usually live music, most often jazz. It makes for a great atmosphere. We usually try to go on Thursdays figuring if we are going to spend this much on meal (On Broadway is pretty pricey for Helena), we might as well enjoy the fun local music scene! read more

THe service here was great! i just find thier food to be a bit on the blah side... i had a tuna salad there once and the tuna was super dry, and the vinegrette was orangey and sugary... and there was a littl ebit of spinach, a few slices of onion/blan tomato, and lots of filler lettuce. i prefer tastes with a bit more "umph" and "pow... this is good!" flavor. I took my 2 sons and their wives to dinner on Friday, 2/23/2022. There was a total of 6 of us. Since they don't take reservations, we got there early at 4:30 pm and got our name on the list. We were told 1.5 hr wait. There were no seats in the waiting room bar so I found 1 seat for my wife at the dining room bar and I stood. It took us 15 minutes to get a drink because the bartender was busy chatting with the locals that were already sitting at the bar. After 5pm they started seating earlier people so we found a spot for 6 of us in the waiting bar. We had to flag down a server to get waited on. Then when we wanted another drink since we were still waiting we had a terrible time getting someone to stop and wait on us so my wife went to the bar to get the drinks. Finally at 6:30, 2 hours later we were seated for dinner. I ordered a medium rare fillet, so did both my boys. The ladies ordered different pasta dishes. My steak was horrible. It was cooked right, but it was so tough and chewy it was almost not edible. My garlic potatoes were hard, dry and barely warm. I had 1 son say his steak was OK. the other son had the same issues with his meal I had. The ladies said their pasta dishes were ok. Lacking in flavor, and not hot when served, barely warm. Service was not good. Once the food was delivered we saw the server once more before we got the check. Then we had to track her down to pay for it. The Grilled Mozzarella is really good. The half order is good for 2 maybe 3 people, you do get 3 little finger sandwiches. The Filet Mignon as well as the NY Steak really needs seasoning. You MUST salt the steaks a bit before grilling. But it was cooked perfectly. Service at the bar was really good, with the bartender being prompt with taking our order, cleaning up dishes, and getting us our next course. She not only did not smile at us, served appetizers separately, then asked me 3 times in 15 min if I was done with my steak. We went to a steakhouse outside of helena & waited 30 minutes with no drinks, menus or even a glance from a waitress. I suggested going to On Broadway for steaks so we left. At On broadway we were seated within 30 seconds. We had water & menus within 45 seconds. Our beers came maybe 4 minutes after ordering. The steaks were outstanding! The waiter was amazing! I did the vegetarian daily special and it was quite good. The service was the fastest I've seen in Helena. Food and drinks were reasonably price. Restuarant had an interesting set up sort like balcony seating. Enjoyed the salad as well. Only complaint i had, is i would have sworn i ordered a Manhattan and ended up with a old fashion.
