Can definitely recommend this restaurant! We visited on Tuesday evening, getting there about 4:40 pm. They don't start seating for dinner until 5 pm so we waited in the bar. The bar was full: we got the last open table and ended up sharing it with others who had to wait. Great conversation! Dinner menu looked good and we tried the Gorgonzola linguine dish. We split that and an antipasto plate. They had bread and butter on the table when we sat down. It tasted okay but it wasn't warm so I was a little disappointed with it. The antipasto plate was excellent and included a gorgonzola cheese spread as well a meats, sliced cheeses, pickles, peppers, kalamata olives, and crackers. Between the appetizer and entree, the two of us were very comfortably full. The kitchen split the entree for us which was very helpful: it would have been messy if I had to do it! The Gorgonzola cream sauce tasted really good and the Gorgonzola flavor was surprisingly mild. I ate every bit of mine! The staff was very efficient and pleasant and the ambiance was pleasing. We've been to On Broadway probably five or six times now, and there's a reason we keep coming back. The service is consistently spot on--friendly, attentive, and professional--and the food comes out hot and well prepared. The cocktails are great, too. Our last dinner was especially good. The salmon was excellent, the pasta was flavorful, the salad was perfectly done, and even the bread and butter are worth mentioning. It's one of those places that is consistently good across the board. They don't take reservations, which I personally would prefer, so you may end up having a drink at the bar while waiting for a table. But somehow that's become part of the On Broadway experience, and the place always seems to be bustling. It may not be a five-star dining experience every single time, but it's reliably very good, the service has never disappointed us, and we continue to go back. We did not have a reservation so we were seated in one side of the restaurant (a room that was equal in size to the main dinning room) where you could order drinks and appetizers to wait on your table in the main dinning area. I think it was a way to get folks to order drinks and appetizers. We opted for the Baked brie that came with crackers. It was ok but I woukd not order it again, nothing special. The crackers were dry. Once we got to our table, where the hostess carried our leftover brie, there was bread on the table and I finished the rest of the appetizer with the bread and that was better. It should be served with bread in my opinion. We shared the halibut that was served with rice and veggies and added a side of pasta with marinara sauce. The halibut was a bit dry as was the rice. If there had been more sauce on the fish, it and the rice would have been better. But it had a good taste and the veggies were excellent. We had good service in both the appetizer room and the main dinning area. It is a very nice atmosphere with upscale prices. We were full with our previous selections so did not have dessert. read more

I ordered a Tasmanian Crab Dinner for $28. There was a miniscule amount of crab meat. I had to dig through the linguini to find tiny pieces, and when I did find it there was no flavor. The waiter admitted that they cancelled the crab hors d'oeuvres due to a shortage of crab. They should have cancelled the meal I ordered as well!! We got a free desert, but the $28 for the meal was basically wasted. We won't be back. read more

What a fun spot! We stopped by on a road trip and walked in to live music & it being busy for a Wednesday night. The sautéed shrimp was my favorite -- such a flavorful sauce!! Caesar was good and perfectly dressed. The mozz skewers were pretty good as well but I wouldn't get them again as nothing was too special about it. Just choose this one for any food you're wanting. We went back and forth between this and other steak places. I have ZERO regrets. The vibe is great! We thought it would be kinda Iike a mainstream restaurant but it's not at all! So unique! We walked in and were allowed to sit in the bar area to grab apps and drinks while waiting for our table. Once at our table, our server was promptly there to take our order (or whatever you need). It had bread and water on the table when we arrived. The runner made sure our water was full at all times. We had limited choices on a Monday evening but this was a great find. The building - and interior- really cool. Our waiter was helpful and I took his recommendation of the scallops/shrimp and prosciutto. Too much red onion for me (I guess I missed that in the description) but otherwise the scallops were cooked to perfection and the sauce was very tasty. Husband had the prosciutto with spinach angel hair pasta- too salty for him. I'd go back and try some other items on their varied menu! Tonight we tried this restaurant after being referred by a friend. We were greeted right away and offered to sit in the dining room area. I asked about the bar seating and we sat there. We were welcomed by Zach. From the moment we sat down to when we left Zach took care of us as if we were regular customers. He was very attentive and friendly. His knowledge of the menu and drinks was very impressive. We didn't need to ask for anything. Zach would be filling our water glasses or drinks before we could ask. He is a definite asset to this restaurant. With his excellent service and the delicious food we will definitely be back when we're in Helena. They don't take reservations, but if you arrive an hour before seating begins, you can get on the list to get a table while you enjoy a drink at the bar. The one downside is they do not take reservations, so if going on a Friday or Saturday, plan to arrive early to get on the wait list. Generally, always room in the bar while waiting. Being from OOT, there aren't many options in Helena for a decent meal. I've tried this place a handful of times and every meal was pretty good. I love fresh pasta so the fresh linguine was good and the shrimp for the scampi were jumbo sized. Good flavors all around. Good house salad and the mussels were good, too. We took a tour gateway to the Rockies and decided to come here for dinner. It was our first time to Helena so not sure how to rate compare to other restaurants in the area. The service was 5 stars! Super friendly helpful waiter! The food was edible but not great. My kids got the pasta with meat sauce. The pasta was fine but the meat sauce was spicy and sweet( not good marina). I got the eggplant Parmesan which was gross...... they didn't know that you need to prepare eggplant before you cook it or it's bitter and stringy. This review is only for their cocktails as I already ate dinner before this. There are two sides of the restaurant that both have upstairs seating, tables, and bar areas, which apparently there was only one at some point. It's like a casual spot with two bars that happen to serve fine dining type food, although no one is stopping you from dressing up. The ambience feels dark and intimate but it can get pretty loud because there are so many people and the tables are situated relatively close together. My first drink was the negroni ($7.50). I watched the bartender make the drink and unfortunately she put less of the actual alcohol and cocktail ingredients and more soda water to make it seem like there's more drink than there actually is. It just tasted like a diluted and carbonated shell of a negroni. My second drink was the grand manhattan ($8.50) which was just bourbon and grand marnier. Again, not the typical ingredients but it wasn't necessarily bad. Their drinks menu is mostly classic cocktails and it just kind of breaks my heart to see the classics being changed negatively to save money or whatever other reason they might give. If you're a lover of the classics and keeping them that way, you might want to look the other way. read more

Great ambience, they've figured out how to have a lot of guests and allow for privacy. It's a comfortable place to have a nicer meal. The food was spot on, really good. Bartender is pretty good, the waiter didn't have a list of drinks available and wasn't knowledgeable of choices available, I was forced to settle, when I'm sure I could have had a better drink. The service yesterday was the slowest I've ever experienced there, and perhaps in Helena - ever. We were there nearly three hours and in that time received barely two rounds of drinks. We were about to cancel our second drink order, which we had to beg for from three wait staff, but finally got it at the 11th hour. We received excuses from a young server claiming that "they were slammed," but I noticed only about 60% occupancy, with open tables and nary a person standing in the bar. The food was fine. A "special" pizza/flatbread situation arrived with mostly bread and about six cherry tomatoes, halved, with a dusting of onions. Very bready for the price and the way it was advertised. The artichoke dip is teensy and...water crackers? Really? Anyway, disappointed when OB has been a perennial favorite and quality choice for years. This September (2024) was, just, yikes. read more

Our party of four arrived early and was seated at five, which was great. The bathroom in the restaurant was filthy. One of our party asked for no sauce on her entree and the waitress brought two plates, ten minutes later a third plate and the entree with no herb sauce was served to a different table so the 4th person at our table waited almost a half hour for her entree to be made. No adjustment was offered, and a dismissive excuse was given. I ordered the grilled Tuscan Chicken and the chicken appeared to be the precooked with grill marks chicken that's served at casinos and cheap restaurants. The entree overall was poor, presentation was awful and the sauce was tasteless. Truly one of the worst meals I've had in Helena in a decade. Not impressed! read more
