We went on a Friday night and were seated right away and the service was good. The reason for the low rating is mostly the food and prices. It has gone downhill. It used to be a good place to go but the Reuben was mediocre at best and the sweet potatoe fries were meh. Also it was $3 extra for the sweet potatoe fries. My wife got the French dip which was odd tasting and fries were not crispy. Additionally, they charge an extra 3% for credit cards. I will not be returning! read more

Great food, awesome service, so glad our first plan fell through! We were coming through town on a Tuesday and didn't realize that the place we initially scouted on Yelp closed after lunch, so we stumbled upon the Brewhouse and somehow on Google were specifically directed towards the downstairs. I had prime rib, my wife had a ribeye, and they were both excellent, cooked exactly how we ordered it and were a great value and $32 and $36 with all the fixings. My wife got the risotto and it was so good, but I was happy with my garlic matched because it really hit the spot with the line rib. One of our boys got a pasta dish and had a laundry list of things he wanted taken off and they were very accommodating. Our other got a kids pizza and the thing was huge for a kids portion. We ended up taking half home and I ate it that night! The waitress who helped us was super chill and kept coming around with refills before we got anywhere near needing them and really hooked our kids up. One of them got beer cheese soup and it had some crackers on the side. She heard his little brother ask to have some of the crackers and the next pass she dumped like 6 packages on crackers right in front of him :-) It was a little weird figuring out the upstairs/downstairs thing at first, but when they told us it's open seating downstairs and just pick a spot, we knew that was where we wanted to be, instead of upstairs. I had been here once before for lunch and found the food acceptable so decided to try it again for dinner. Our server was nice and friendly enough but the food was very subpar. The burgers were described as 1/2 lbs which was probably correct but they were like a premade slider that was grossly overcooked. Even with the copious amounts of teriyaki sauce it was still hard to swallow. Same with the shriveled up slice of ham and dry, cold day old tasting bun. There was really no flavor at all. Our dining companions experienced the same and their steak salad was more like a gristle salad. The space is cool with old business signs hanging around and a neat vibe, but food is meh. While unexpectedly needing to stay in Helena for a couple nights, we searched for a pub to have a late lunch. This place turned out to be a great choice. Two levels of dining with a great selection of beers, pub fare and attentive service. The onion rings were served hot with perfectly crispy breading, the clam chowder was creamy with nice sized pieces of clam and veggies, the bacon on the BLT was crispy and flavorful, and the side Greek salad was very fresh with the perfect balance of classic elements. Girlfriend and I came in for lunch today. Our server Jordan was absolutely amazing and extremely attentive. My prime rib dip was decent, though one half was almost entirely fat. Girlfriend said the French dip was good, though we both think the aus jus needed a bit more flavor. The biggest issue we had was another waitress, the hostess (Lauren), and one of the bus boy decided to just stop in the middle of their shift and have gossip session with two other friends that came in. I understand taking a break, but typically it is away from customers not the table right behind them. Would have been nice to be able to have a conversation at my own table (immediately behind the hostess station) without workers yelling to each other and abandoning our server to cover the entire restaurant. read more

But it was as busy as it looked from the outside: At supper time on Tuesday the small parking lot was packed, and the overflow lot across the street was nearly full. Still, our initial wait was short and dining at high top bar tables provided plenty of people watching activity. Despite the packed house the absence of background music and TVs allowed conversation without yelling. The crowd did make an excessive wait for our food--over 30 minutes from ordering. Grilled salmon was woefully overcooked but mixed steamed vegetables were fairly undercooked. Dinner at 5 PM on May 25, 2025. First, the good. The atmosphere was great. We sat out on the patio and the weather was perfect for a memorial day weekend. One for the ages. Service to was good. Very friendly server. Salads were delivered timely and were good. For my wife and I, we both ordered burgers at the tune of roughly $18 each. Basically, they came out like hockey pucks. The place was about half full and there's really no excuse for a place like that not to be able to cook a proper burger. I could get a better burger at any fast food joint at half the cost. We usually go for the fish and chips, which are always great. Will probably avoid burgers in the future. As a sidenote, please ask your hostess not to chomp on gum while she's waiting on people. We could barely understand her annunciate her words as she was more focused on chewing her gum than talking. read more

Good service, plenty of room and a really good beer menu though we did not partake this day. Plenty of locals seemed to be enjoying the atmosphere. What is the difference between upstairs and downstairs with the slightly different menus? Trying to figure it out. Upstairs was certainly more crowded but downstairs was nice and cool on a hot Day. Started out with the Blackfoot IPA, the ordered the Prime rib sand...freaking Ono...found out the bartender "Heidi" spent a year in Hawaii and even though she was crazy slammed busy, she found time to " talk story" with me...then came along Nico, a young boy who has roots back home to "Wahiawa" small fukin world. There were signs on the doors saying that masks were to be worn until you reach your table. As a older person I'm dismayed to see numerous people walking around the bar and Resturant without masks. In Montana Masks are mandatory in public places but they are not enforced in this establishment. I did not feel safe that this place does not take their customers safety serious. Boyfriend and I were visiting Helena and decided on this place for lunch. It's located in a walkable area with restaurants and the movie theater near the carousel. It's a pub-like atmosphere, nothing fancy. It's starting to show some wear and could use a face lift. It was recommended through our online search because they have gluten-free options. When we arrived and I looked at the menu, there wasn't much, only the "survivor" with a few twists on a bland theme (protein with veggies). BF had the "afterburner" hamburger (Jalapenos, bacon, pepper jack cheese and our own Sesame fire sauce) and fries. Doesn't that sound good? Guess what I had? Yes, the very bland gluten-free option, the "survivor" (grilled chicken breast) with sweet potato fries. We washed our food down with Dr. Pepper (BF) and lemonaide (me). Absolutely disgusting! Just writing this review makes me feel ill thinking about the dreck we ingested. The sign on the door as you walk which says "kitchen help wanted, apply within" was the first sign of alarm. More signs of worry when the dinner salads were dry, and the blue cheese dressing was WARM. All indicators that the salads had been sitting under a heat lamp in the kitchen. Water glasses had "floaties" of food residue. Sanitation issues and dishwashing difficulties, perhaps? The chicken pesto wrap was sent right back to the kitchen after one sickening bite. There was no need to play Russian roulette with the rest of the menu, given the high probability of another culinary atrocity. The Afterburner burger was just foul. The meat patty looked strange and had a spongy gray texture on the inside. Upon further inspection, the grill marks on the meat were FAKE (see photo below), like it came from a box of cheap frozen processed burger patties from Walmart. At least the bacon on the burger appeared to be real. Last and certainly least was the clam chowder, their Friday 'special.' There was so much basil that it drowned out any semblance of clams, and it was just nasty. This place is obviously cutting corners on food costs and quality (and who knows what else). I was unnerved seeing the hoards of people lined up out the door like pigs waiting to dine at the trough. As I write this, I'm terrified of what sort of indigestive agony awaits me this evening. One star for the gracious service and agreeing to comp us for the chicken wrap. I feel embarrassed for the servers having to cater this slop to hungry patrons only for the discerning diner to see what's really going on here. Brought my son and his wife , my mother and her significant other along with my husband and myself to celebrate my son's birthday. 3 of us had the Queen's fish which is supposed to be halibut and a side. It might've been halibut, but if it was, it tasted just like cod, but sometimes that happens, you can get a bad piece of halibut. My daughter-in-law ordered the Nathan's mac & cheese, which the waiter told us was one of their most sought out after dishes. This was after we told him it wasn't very good. And four of us tried it and all had the same opinion. My husband's hamburger wasn't great and then we got the bill. On a $145 bill they charged us over five dollars to use our credit card. I can see having a minimum to charge someone the use of a credit card but when you spend that much for a very mediocre meal and then have to pay five bucks to pay for it with your credit card? Unfortunately, this establishment is off our list to ever come back and eat at again. read more

Passing through town. Based on a Yelp search, I wasn't too hopeful for a good pub but Brewhouse P & G seemed the best bet. Turns out, it's more than just good. Brewhouse is a split level affair with supposedly different menus and ambiance on each floor. I say 'supposedly' because although I didn't check out the downstairs menu, I noticed no significant difference in atmosphere. Maybe I didn't look hard enough. Anyway, we sat at the upper bar where we received great service, good food and, of course, decent beer (from Lewis & Clark Brewing and Blackfoot brewing). Upstairs menu is solid and fairly vegetarian friendly. The Queen's Fish with a side of beer cheese soup hit the spot for me. Not too loud. Parking is tight but there's a lot across the street which appears to half dedicated to Brewhouse. Recommended. read more

The manager Tyler was unprofessional and rude when asked a question about their new automatic 20% tip policy that was not shared with us when we first sat down, when we were handed our bill, etc...I don't mind tipping but a heads up would have been nice and that's exactly what I was trying to explain to the manager. He interrupted me and says "well if you're tipping appropriately then this shouldn't be a problem." I get it - times are tough for everyone. But the way I was just treated for asking a QUESTION is absolutely ridiculous. Unfortunately my family and I likely won't be back.
