I really enjoyed the ambience. I did think personally that the burger was a little pricey basically a $20 burger and had it come with french fries it would've been so much better.. just know that there is no table service, but everyone is very friendly. You come up to the bar and carry your food back to your table. I definitely would return. read more

Shake-a-Day was upwards of $900. Electronically displayed. When one of the foreign visitors rolled five 4's, the bar awarded $147 and the manager turned the board off when trying to take a photo. My mom and I got a recommendation to come in and try their burgers. So we decided we would take a break from off-roading and we would give it a shot. So I entered the bar (mind you I am a 6 foot 3 inch tall redhead) I got quite a few stares but everyone was super friendly and welcoming. There was an amazing couple hanging out in rocking chairs out front giving it that homey vibe. The place has ALOT of character! You can tell the owners put alot of love and care into their business and it shows. We ordered the original burgers with a large side of onion rings and OH MY GOODNESS!! The truly do have the best burgers! All in all the experience was a good one and I would recommend it 100000% pay no mind to any negative comments because they are just a load of bullhonkey. Stopped by here to sit on their back patio in nice weather and eat a burger after hiking in gorgeous York, MT. We walked in with our masks on because, well, COVID19!! We got aggressively stared at by all the patrons inside NOT wearing masks and even had two patrons loudly talk about our masks and how ridiculous they were. The worst part: THE STAFF COOKING THE FOOD BEHIND THE COUNTER DID NOT HAVE MASKS ON WHICH IS A COUNTY/STATE MANDATE. They also have the audacity to charge $13-18 dollars for their average burgers that are not served with fries, but a bag of Lays chips. I'm all for the small town vibe but this is not cutting it in our current climate. read more

There were 5 men in the entire place. We were completely ignored. She never came out from behind the bar to give us a menu or ask if we wanted a drink. Burnt Fryer grease smell hits you in the face when you walk in Burger bun was burned badly by the cook but still served to me I ordered 2 bud lights and a screw driver and was charged almost $20 6 tiny low quality mini corndogs cost $6.50 Customer feedback -Lower some of your prices -Don't burn the food -Change the frier grease more or do something to vent the smell -Why not serve fries (instead of lays) if you have a frier? read more

Went hiking mid-week up to Refrigerator Canyon and 1 1/2 hours in BF strained his ankle. 2 1/2 hours later made it back down and all we wanted was a burger and beer...you know cause better than Urgent Care. LOL! So we stopped at the Friendly York Bar and downed a few. They have Philipsburg Razzu and L&C Miner's Gold on tap so I was sold. We had a nice relaxing time chatting with locals and taking in the small town atmo, cheap brewskis and grub we miss since moving to Denver. read more

By far my favorite spot in Montana, hands down. It's off the beaten path, and small, and tight knit. Come once and the second time the staff will treat you like family. The burgers are OUTSTANDING. Stopped in for a burger a few days ago after a hike nearby. You'd expect more for the price. The burgers are pre-fab Costco patties, and ours were so overcooked that we could've sanded rough lumber with them. The worst part was that we watched the cook do everything with her bare, unwashed hands, including ripping bacon slices in half, stuffing pickle slices into little bags, and wiping her mouth and forehead repeatedly with her fingers. Then, she grabbed a used bar rag, rinsed it off in the sink full of dirty water beneath the bar, folded it multiple times, wiped down the bar (while chatting with people whose hands and drinks were on that bar), then used it to wash her own hands! Absolutely disgusting, and I swear I'm not exaggerating one bit. Last time we get burgers from this place! read more

An excellent small-town bar, and an excellent burger. Please be advised- this is not a place to go for a quick bite to eat. Rather, it is a destination. Enjoy the drive (well worth it, historically, scenically, and geologically), and take your time. Chat with the locals, enjoy a beer, and hang out. A double bacon mushroom cheeseburger is obscenely large. It's handling characteristics are like a 70's Detroit station wagon with 250,000 miles on it: sloppy, and all over the place. My girlfriend and I were going fishing in the area and ended up with a flat tire. After dealing with that we just decided that food and beer was more important than fishing and York Bar was the closest place. Holy Crap the burger was AMAZING. One of the best I've had in a long long time. Steaming the burger while cooking it on the flat top sealed in all those juices. We also got onion rings which were perfect. When you bit into them they were crunchy and the onion didn't get pulled all the way out of the batter. They had this spicy mustard (like the chinese mustard) that was amazing as well. All in all we got 2 burgers, some onion rings, and several beers for $25 bucks and you just can't beat that. read more

I had such high hopes for this place based on the reviews and comments from other people in the area. I was so disappointed . For starters, it's quite dirty and unkempt. Starting from the outside, they don't pick up their trash, the chairs on the deck were dirty- the chairs weren't even around the tables- we had to find them to sit. The inside is dirty and greasy as well. My glass had chunks of food on it. It's greasy and just plain not clean. It was like no one has taken ownership or pride in this place. The burgers were frozen Costco or Sysco burgers- absolutely unremarkable. Came with a small bag of chips and some wiggly pickles (they were out of onions; no other toppings available). We ordered other frozen, then fried foods: mediocre onion rings, mini corn dogs all with jarred/ canned condiment. You order at the bar and wait an eternity for your food to be ready which you have to pick up at the bar. We had to get up at least 6 times to bus the table from the previous diners, get napkins, water, and more beer (they have about 6 good beers on tap) The servers were working hard and were friendly enough. The view for the drive out there is probably the best part. The burgers are above average, but they come with basic chips.

If you're looking for the true Montana experience I would recommend the short drive to York, Mt to visit the York Bar. The little mountain town of York boasts some of the best burgers. best times and best scenery in Montana. The owners, staff, and locals are great. By far the best burger in Montana. Drove out for the food and was not disappointed. The burgers are great and large enough that a single patty is filling. As previously mentioned the meal only comes with fries but that shouldn't deter your visit. Additionally the beer is served in chilled glasses and a great selection for a bar this size exists. Used to be one of my favorite places to go. The new owners have change that. My group of four was insulted by the bartender and were generally treated poorly. To top it off I had to hold the tab on a credit card, and after I paid the bill with cash, they charged my card anyway. At least the burgers were okay.
