Applebees. What can you say? In years past they have had kinda generic menus with the same types of stuff, but recently we went in Helena and were pleasantly surprised with the large selection of new choices that were very reasonably priced. We settled on the grilled cheese cheeseburger and it is very good. It comes with french fries with salt and pepper and cheesy bread for the buns. It also comes with delicious tomato soup for dipping the sandwich and the fries in and it is good, and there are a lot of other choices. We had two of our three girls with us and the other thing that's good about going on Tuesday night is that the kids meals only cost one dollar on Tuesday night only, so Tuesday happens to be a good night to go for families. Went to Applebee's for lunch. Not very busy at all. Seated right away and got our drinks and menu. Hubby had the beef nachos and I ordered the Bayou Shrimp Bowl. The shrimp bowl was so, so, good! Received a gift certificate from a relative back East, so we found ourselves at a place we would normally not patronize due to past "Applebee's experiences". As we seated ourselves, still wondering what harm we ever caused said relative, we laughed about what we sometimes do to save a buck. We had the "all you can eat" options, and you do get all you can possibly eat. The ribs were so-so, the boneless wings were not wings but chunks of chicken breaded and coated in hot sauce, and the shrimp were the best of the three options. The third star was awarded because they do give you all you can eat without the "games" usually played by restaurants with this kind of offer. The best part of Applebees Helena location best part is a couple of the Bartenders, I think about 4 of the waitresses are really good and probably in my humble opinion too good for the restaurant. Cooks are mediocre at best. They should probably go to fast food as line order cooks they are not. Take way to long on more orders than they ever should. Honestly think if they didn't have a bar they would be out of business. They think people that deliver food are beneath them and should bow to their " authority" the larger guy on Wednesday evening's should definitely not be the face of a business. He has a voice for movies and face for radio and an IQ of gnats ass. Customer service seems to have left many of the jobs that service is given. When you treat people like they owe you something. Like they have a job beneath the job you have makes them not only leave a review for the company but we as patrons should be expecting more from them they wouldn't have a job if we didn't frequent the establishments. You know what? This is the best Applebees I've been to in my life. The food was hot, fresh, and came out extremely fast. Not to mention a perfect presentation. The interior is standard for an Applebees and kept VERY clean. The servers are very friendly and there at your table with impeccable timing, they're seriously mind readers. I was blown away, truly. Never have I ever eaten at Applebee's in the 26 years of my life. I never really thought to go to Applebee's, but my boyfriend thought it would be funny to have a "fancy" dinner date night inspired by Walker Hayes. So alas began our journey to Applebee's on a date night. Got that Bourbon Street steak with the Oreo shake. Get some whipped cream on the top, too. Okay, let's get serious about this review. 1. Food quality? Surprisingly, the food was pretty good. We got the chicken wonton tacos as an appetizer. Good crunch and solid sauce. For mains, I got the bourbon street steak, medium rare. Ended up being a little too rare for me but the steak along with the sides was seasoned well. Mashed potatoes was a little too creamy for my liking. My boyfriend got the quesadilla burger and that was probably my favorite dish. One star. 2. Price Point? This was the kicker for me. I thought Applebee's dish average price would be ~$8-10 (perhaps I was just ignorant). I guess $17 for a 8 oz steak wasn't too bad but $14 for the quesadilla burger was a little much for me. You could get much better tasting gourmet burgers at this price, somewhere fancier. No star for me here. 3. Service? Friendly folks, very prompt when we needed something. Star. 4. Ambiance? Seemed pretty busy. Bar seats would be fun if there was a game on. It was what I would expect. Star. 5. Would I come back again? Food is typical of chain food venues. Nothing special not bad but not great either. If you are looking for a friendly atmosphere that caters to sports enthusiasts too with their big screen TV to watch the latest games , but have family with you this is where you can have the best of both worlds they also have a full bar. Had dinner there a few nights ago. Met up with a friend. A new male server took our order. He was nice enough but ... We ordered 2 different beverages. He put the beverage in front of the wrong person. Our dinner orders were simple as well: one salad, two different entrees. Apparently the kitchen was trying to keep up with the large number of patrons that night so we waited for our dinners for a very long time. Not once in this waiting period did the server stop by to let us know that the kitchen was super busy and meal prep might take a little longer. When the food finally came, we were assured the food was freshly prepared. Ironically, the meat in my entree tasted like someone forgot it in the microwave - very rubbery and not much flavor. And the server managed yet again to put the food in front of the wrong person. Seriously?! I would understand if he confused orders for a large group of diners - various drinks, appetizers, etc., but for two people? Nope. Also important to note, his hands looked like a mechanic's - not very clean skin with black fingernails. Really, in the food industry?? This is the first time in decades (!) that I did not leave a tip. Very disappointed with the outcome of that dinner. Hope they hire much better servers in the future. Our server was well knowledgeable of the foods available in this location. On Friday afternoon it was super busy and we got a seat at the high table. We ordered bourbon street chicken and shrimp, blackened cajun salmon. But we got steak and when I told to our server we ordered something else then he changed it immediately. As a dessert, we ate sizzlin caramel apple blondie. The food and service were super good. I especially like tortilla soup with its crunchiness. Usually get good service/food; not this time. I ordered the brunch burger like I've done multiple times before. Only this time my egg came out broke and hard. On one side the egg had a two inch tail of plastic like thin overcooked egg whites (brown and opaque at this point). This piece broke off with a crisp. Note: broke off before I took the picture. When I asked the waitress if they could cook me another egg, she was rude. She came back to tell me they will try to make another egg and made a point to tell me the cooks always have to cook the egg hard. If that's the case then the few cooks before this day have done their job wrong. This only for the online and delivery option. This was my second time ordering online and having my food delivered. I ordered a drink with my food and when the door dash guy delivered it was literally he knocked and ran down the stairs I was able to catch him and tell him my drink was missing to which he replied I'll look into it. He then drove off. I called the Applebee's to let them know and I was transfer to someone "who could better help me" sat on hold for 6 minutes or so, with that annoying beep in my ear, no one picked up. I've tried calling back now several times and the number just ringings. Won't be ordering online again anytime soon. read more

I'm not a huge Applebee's fan but I was traveling thru the area and I decided to stop here for a bite. Plenty of parking. The restaurants has two "tiers". Tables, some right by the glass windows, was the higher level and more tables and the bar was in the middle and lower level. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The food was decent along I couldn't finish what I ordered. I had the double entire special where you had your choice of two entrees for $20. You had about a dozen choices. I had the chicken tenders and a shrimp choice. Both were good and I had to put the leftovers in a to go container. I was dining with a small group and what made our bill easy to split was the touchscreen pad that came with the table. Our order showed up so we could double check it and we also could have added something if we wanted to. When it came time to pay we just passed the pad around and picked what we ordered and paid for it. The only downside was we couldn't get seperate copies of individual bills. read more

I'm normally disappointed with both the food and the service at this Applebee's but not this time. My husband and I ordered the wonton tacos app, the fiesta lime chicken, and the new shrimp and chicken. The food had great flavor and was fresh. I did hear a customer complaining that her fries were over salted, which is something I have experienced here in the past. The waiter said they probably salted them but didn't mix them so she got all the salty ones! Lol -what??!! Well you can't please everyone.
