It's been a while since I visited Mt Ascension, as a brewery they were never on my A-list. Last night I went with a business associate and not only was the beer amazing, so was the food. From the soft tenderness of the pretzels to the flavorful Pork Schnitzel and mushroom gravy. We will return for more great food and casual dining on an awesome rooftop. This is an interesting place! The setup is a little unusual--if you're sitting upstairs, they'll bring your drinks up, but you have to go downstairs to pick up your own food. I understand there may be some Montana regulations behind how they have to operate, but as a customer it still feels a little odd. That said, the drinks are good, the beer is good, and the view is absolutely beautiful. The food is fine--nothing bad, but nothing we've had has really been something to write home about either. Where this place really shines is the atmosphere and events. We went to a comedy festival here and had an absolutely great time. Sitting upstairs, enjoying a drink with that view and having some entertainment made for a really fun evening. I'd come back more for the drinks, view, atmosphere and events than specifically for the food, but overall it's a fun place and definitely worth checking out. read more

I enjoyed the food and service here. I had lunch which was basic fare, though slightly above average in flavor. I took off one start because they serve their own craft brews. I drink specific alcoholic beverages. They don't even have vodka. The service was outstanding. I was in Helena for a wedding. I'm from NYC so I have high standards and expectations when I dine out. Happy hour food menu we wouldn't recommend..2 dishes had fries and they were warm but not good..not crispy. And we ordered a side of fries not knowing the happy hour things came with them too. We sat upstairs and I had to give my # to get our our order bc they text when it's ready, so you go back down a flight of stairs to pickup your food, napkins, condiments, etc. and then you bus your table which is fine, but when you order you pay then. Nice staff. Food was bad! Im so sorry but 1. Burger was medium rare they served my daughter. 2.The tacos were hard to chew, stiff tortillas like cardboard. 3.The chicken wrap had a sauce so Sour none of my family could swallow a bite. It was all Sauce and lettuce. Fries on all 4 places were stale. Dont drink alcohol- but the can of Fremont NA IPA was good. Never thought I would have to write a yelp review. Went in paid for our order tipped 25% sit down thought we would get to have our food brought to us at least for a 20$ tip and to walk down 4 flights of stairs grab our food after paying only to watch the kitchen dude drop the hamburger bun pick it up off the floor and put it back on the plate with no gloves ready to serve. Grabbed my wrap with his bare hands all the staff was meh I went don't stairs to go grab my food and didn't know where to go and the waitress said in a sassy tone, "what do you want??" Got back up to eat and the fries looked like they were cooked the day before and remicrowaved super soggy. My sister had what looked like beard hair in her fries, and the wings were awful. Never returning again. These millennial overpriced terrible service restaurants need closed. read more

Beer was good... food not so much. Ordered the checks jalapeño bacon sandwich and it was cold and no flavor, onion rings were soggy and cold. Salad wife got the vinaigrette was nasty. YEAH! A brewery w/FOOD and not just pizza and salad options. There are burgers, chicken sandwiches, appetizers, wings, salads, and seasonal specials. When I arrived there were just a few folks at the bar and one bartender who serviced the dining area, bar, and food. Within a short period the place was full. Line at the bar to get drinks a few full tables and a birthday party. Our bartender ROCKED! Not only did she appease the bar the tables and line at the bar were all under control. Not one single complaint or mention of having to wait. Wow! There are a good variety of beer options. I sampled the Kolch, German lager, and Czech lager. All were good. Glad to see a good variety beyond just IPA. Sorry not an IPA fan. Too bitter, and not my cup of tea. Enjoyed my adult beverages with a brat, house mustard (yum!), and loaded fries. All wee good and price was less than what I expected. Glad I found Mt Ascension and stopped by. I will be sure to return when in the area. read more

MT Ascension is one of my favorite local brewing companies and you cannot beat the view on the rooftop! Their Paydirt Nitro Stout is my favorite beer - it is SO GOOD. The kitchen just reopened with burgers and good food! The wings are delicious also. Live music and events take place here also. read more

Best wings in Helena (coming from a wing snob.) I like mine extra-crispy. Most places won't cook them crispy even when I ask. This was my first time eating at MAB, and I was delighted! I believe I got the last of the wings, because they were out shortly after mine arrived. There's a reason they sold out, because they are THE BEST! I also ordered the crispy lemon chicken sandwich. The lemon aioli added the perfect amount of zest! I'll definitely come back soon! read more
