The staff is really friendly and the shop is super cute. But I don't think it is worth the price... So I came here to get my nails fixed from another shop I went to a few days prior so I only needed a color change and a slight reshape. I had regular gel on my natural nails and got a removal fee of $28. (A drill is the only option they use to remove color no soak off) I got a chrome sheen as the base and was charged an additional $68 on top of the $50 for the gel mani and another $38 for french tip which literally was a thin line because she didn't have time for a regular one. In total I paid $184 not including the tip. I take responsibility for not clarifying the details for the prices but I'm honestly shocked to why was the chrome $68??? Like do I get to take the powder home, was it made from real diamonds, why is it so darn expensive because it doesn't "looks expensive" (nail techs words). That being said I wouldn't mind paying so much if my manicure looked better. There's just so many visible bubbles and black specks along the border of my nails. But my biggest complaint is they RUSH through appointments, mine was done in 20 mins which is impressive but NOT enjoyable. Especially when I got cut and was bleedingI am paying so much for my "me time" it should be relaxing and not cause me physical pain. Since moving to Alaska I haven't found a nail salon that I really like enough to become a regular at. When I lived in IL I got my nails done 1-2 times a month. I would love to get my nails done somewhere regularly, and build a rapport with a tech. I've tried this salon probably 5 times now because I really want to like it. It had a really chic vibe, is always clean, and the staff is always professional & friendly. The prices in Alaska in general for nail services are pretty high. At OMG it's $72 for a basic pedi with regular polish, and a express manicure with gel. I've found the prices at OMG are on par with other salons in Alaska, they may be slightly more expensive. But, in Chicago I'd pay max $60 for these services, and it would include a full manicure not just nail clean up. The up charge for gel (shellac) polish in this state is insane. I first thought it was because there weren't a lot of nail salons in Anchorage, but there are a ton. The nail services are very hit or miss depending on who your tech is, and all of the appointments always seem rushed. The staff does seem to always speed along your appointment. It does seem like if you aren't a regular client they don't care enough to give you a lot of their time. It shows in the results. Sometimes my no chip mani last 2 weeks, and sometimes it doesn't. The nail salon I frequent when I'm visiting IL my tech takes her time, and my nails look good for a month! On 2 of my visits my services were done simultaneously. I don't really like that, and wish they would've told me when I booked that due to time constraints my services would be done together. I probably would've asked for a different time slot. The staff that has done a good job are Aly, she does a great pedicure, and massage. The owner Troy usually does a decent manicure. The one thing that's kind of annoying is they're always trying to up sell you. I don't get gel polish on my feet because it's not worth the additional cost to me, and my last visit I was asked multiple times if I was sure I didn't want it. Because of covid they aren't doing drying stations so I'm sure that's why, but if they did my manicure after the pedicure instead of during my toes would've had plenty of time to dry. They are doing a good job with social distancing and cleanliness during covid. All clients are required to wear masks. And they closed some stations to distance them. Also wash hands upon entering, and they sanitize with hand sanitizer. I'll probably give them a few more tries now post covid to see if my opinion maybe changes. They had great costumer service and were really sweet to me and my friend, they finished pretty fast and the nails came out beautiful but the total for me and my friends nails combined were around $240 and we only got two full acrylic sets and that may be reasonable but we did not expect that price, they also didn't tell us our price before they started, and for my friend each butterfly placed on her nails was like 2 dollar per butterfly or something like that. I wanted to like this place. It's the only one in Alaska that looks like a proper nail salon, but unfortunately that's where it ends. Staff was insanely friendly, my nails didn't feel rushed, and they even looked great, until I took a shower the next day and 4 of them came off. This was a brand new, short, clean set. I had nails on for over 20 years, and never in my life have I had nails just peel off like that. I was out of town, and had to find a salon quick to get another full set before I could continue my vacation. I dropped well over $300 for my nails and a gel pedicure and was sorely disappointed. But a 2 star for how they chose to value me as a customer by charging more for silly things, being dismissive (after switching from being Crystal's client to being Troy's - he is more accessible for appointments and does great work too) - in my experience. Unless you're Crystal's (the owner) personal client, you will be max charged with everything. And if the nail techs make a mistake and UNDERcharge you for something (like underselling a nail polish that costs more) THEY WILL TAKE IT OUT OF THE EMPLOYEE'S SALARY! (I know this frist hand from a relative of an employee). They have a rep for doing this - other salons and ex-clients know. I have been going to them for a long time because the work is honestly, good quality but I finally got fed up for being treated like a throwaway client. I have seen increasingly ridiculous prices set for minor additions - like 10 dollars a NAIL additional charge for something that takes no more effort or materials than an equivalent service they already provide for a standard charge. It's baffling. I never leave there for less than 85 dollars for a soak-off shellack and BASIC manicure (no fake nails). I might get a minimal additional service like some glitter highlight or something. But that's what it costs at OMG. So I went looking for another manicurist and found one who does beautiful art work for a DONATION fee. The new manicurist did the EPIC design work I wanted - spent an hour and a half with me and charged me under 50 dollars. But I tip her REALLY WELL. I get 10x the nail design and all the genuine treatment I prefer. Bottom line, I felt disregarded, hustled and unvalued as a person at OMG so they finally lost my loyalty. read more

My appointment started 25 minutes after I arrived. The nail stylist was working hard to finish her current client. The reason for the review score is because they charged for a full that did not happen. She ground the acrylic down thinner to help transition from the acrylic and then charged me for a fill she did not do. It would have been understandable if she let me know she was going to remove the charge for the fill and add a bit for the grinding down more of the acrylic but there was no discussion regarding that. Over all they were busy and my appointment felt extremely rushed. Just be aware to asking during the work for cost adjustments they will not bring it up. read more

This place is a NO is over priced and my nails look bad! First of all the owner needs to have a little more customer service skills! It is common sense! It's not something bought. So she was rushing doing my nails, and when I told her something I liked she did what she wanted instead. But when she got done! And when it was time to dry I can see that they were messed up! So I told someone and they was like it's unacceptable and to come back tomorrow and someone fix them! So fast forward, I came back the next day and she wanted to paint over what she already did! Which would make it clunky, who wants to wear clunky nails? After all this money paid for the nails, just to paint over them. Not to remove the paint! And it's all on my cuticles! Wouldn't recommend. Two stars for the cleanliness and overall look. I think Crystal was my nail tech, and it was incredibly rushed for a full set of stilettos. She took about 15-20 minutes on my nails. Shape and color was perfect, but the polish had bubbles in it when completely finished, and she rushed through it so fast that she didn't cover the sides of my nails (in pictures) . She did no cuticle work at all, and it felt like they just wanted me in and out with little discussion. Got my nails done at OMG Nail Spa on Fireweed. Loved it! They are Vietnamese-American and very upbeat and welcoming. It was grey and rainy outside, but inside everything was bright, clean, beautiful, and cheerful. The gal doing my nails was trying to direct her mother to Sagaya using a phone tracker map app--she said to me, "I put a tracker on my Mom!" We all watched the little Mom-dot moving along on the tiny phone app. She and her bro were like, "Old Seward, OLD SEWARD!! Left! Go left here! No that's right!!! Ah! I don't want to wait forever to get acrylics done, much rather it be 15 minutes than an hour. However don't judge their speed as a lack of precision. I have never had a more perfect set of nails. I got them done for my wedding (along with my bridesmaids) and absolutely loved them. They were a little steep on the price, but worth it for an amazing set of nails. I will never go to another salon here again after that experience. And a total upside is I'm never there for more than 30-40 mins! I can also go 3 weeks in between fills with no breaking. I had gone with my friends for a pedicure and manicure. They didn't have any attention to detail and rushed through it. She even said "I can get your manicure done in 12 minutes" my cuticles weren't cleaned up, I had bits of gel nail polish snagging my clothes because they let it dry improperly. However, when I got my brows waxed they ripped off my skin wayyy above my eyebrow into my forehead. The $30 cancellation fee is a bit steep, especially when your appointment time isn't always valued, I had an appointment set for 5:30, wasn't seated until after 5:45. I didn't mind waiting, but everyone in the waiting area was offered water but me which I thought was a bit rude. The nail technician did a fine job, a basic gel manicure with some jewel accents. There are only two good things about this place. The service (7.5/10) and how they decorate (9/10). Everything else was a literal waste of money. I got both a manicure and pedicure. The total came to $150. NOT worth it. Several of my nails still needed at least two more coats of paint and one of my acrylics cracked not even 48 hours after getting them done. Not to mention the rest of my paint on my nails didn't have even cover the entire nail leaving white bare nail on the sides making my $150 mani pedi look cheap. There are several other places in town there you can get better nails for at least $50 less. I will never be returning here. I have always had a fabulous experience here. I know people complain about feeling rushed, but I'm not sure who has all day to spend getting their nails done when you can spend 30 mins getting an excellent result. I say if you are looking for more of a "spa like" atmosphere with regard to time spent, definitely book with a 100% spa(Intuitions is cool.) The OMG facility is well maintained, organized and cleanly. I personally love the diversity of her staff. I have brought in many photos from Pinterest and Crystal(owner) has perfectly recreated each one with all the line work done BY HAND - no stencils. I do not have any issue whatsoever paying for the quality of work and for my time saved. Note: They do enforce a "strict cancellation" policy. Horrible customer service! Money hungry! Charge way too much for simple things that should be included

NEVER EVER AGAIN! Been in this place 2 or 3 times. They charge you half of the service you're gonna get to make the appointment. First time I was late for 10 minutes & I called them 2 hours before instead of 3 hours & yes they charged me $60. I was having a horrible day & I explained them my situation & they still chose to NOT to help me out. This is a local business & although I was upset that they charged me I said ok its your policy. The last time which was couple days ago, same thing they charged me to make the appointment but then this girl which who made my appointment called me day before & asked me if I can come 4 hours earlier. I said I would help her but I'm hesitant since they can charge me if I'll be late or something. I'm 9+ months pregnant & I planned my day so I wouldn't get charged like the last time. She got pissed & literally hung up on my face. This girl promised that she would have another person to do my pedi while she is doing my mani because I'm pregnant & I can't stay there without using the restroom or drinking water more than an hour which again their policy. They didn't!! The guy who made my pedi was really nice & he made a real effort for about an hour. I liked his pedi but the gel nail polish was all wavy when I got home. I paid $70 for this pedi which was $60 a month ago, also confusing. Then this girl showed up & did my nails literally in 5 minutes in a super rush. I told her I'm sorry that I couldn't change my appointment because I really dont want to get charged again. She kept saying "its ok". She started to paint my nails without cleaning my cuticles. I asked her if she is going to do my cuticles she kept saying they don't do "Russian manicure" there that's why they don't clean the cuticles. Well that wasn't my first time & last time they did clean my cuticles. She kept saying "you know what its ok" in a very overbearing way. I told her 4 times before she finished that it doesn't look nice & I wasn't happy with the result in a very kind way. She said she is just gonna put some oil & its gonna look fine?!?!! I told her oil is gonna dry & its gonna look horrible. She then lost it & said "you know what you dont have to pay me" & left. HOW RUDE IS THAT?!? If you're are person who can't express yourself easily; THIS PERSON MIGHT CHARGE YOU $60 FOR A SERVICE SHE DOESN'T PROVIDE!! The only reason she had to deduct the charge because I stood up for myself. You cant dominate people by keep saying "you know what its ok" that's stealing their money. And you know what client decide if its okay or not, espc if you're confidence enough to charge in advance. If you love your nails and wallet- do not go here. I had gone three consecutive times for a shellac polish. They messed my nails up so bad, my natural nail now has curves, damaged and overfilled. It's such a shame that they charge so much and pride themselves as "nail ninjas" when the service is poorly done. I really like the salon and love the lux feeling it has but it is not worth the price or the damage for natural nails. Phung Lam! O-M-G-HORRIBLE! Wish I could give zero-stars here. The customer service here is awful. The last time I came in was YEARS ago, when OMG Nails was newer. There was only two people working that day and business was slow. I met a girl who introduced herself, said she was the owner, however a Mr. Kingsley Llego was actually owner at the time, so she was getting a little ahead of herself, seeing how her name was nowhere to be found on the business license and HE was listed as owner. BUT she seemed nice (at the time). I liked the job she did on my nails and the price was reasonable. HOWEVER, when going in this last month, I recognized the girl (who called herself the owner) who had done my nails all those years ago, she was not the same! She was very bitter and cold, treated every customer there poorly, including us. Two people waiting next to us even complained about it and left. So why didn't I? My friends even tried to convince me to leave, that we should go somewhere else, but I told them how much I liked my nails all those years ago, I was certain once we sat down the customer service would have to get better. Well, it didn't, once we were called, we were all rushed along. They were NOT friendly and before we knew it we were being shouted the total due. One lady even snapped her fingers at my friend to get her card NOW, with no eye contact, it felt almost violating, like we weren't human. To top it off, the price was four, maybe five times the price I had paid all those years ago and to make things worst the job was soooo SLOPPY! My friends who were with me, also complained, that they hated their nails. I even ended up going somewhere else the next day after work. I was getting such bad comments about my nails. A few of the girlfriends at the office commented on my nails, being "sloppy". Two of the gals, also told me all about their nightmare experiences at OMG Nails and even shared how rude the girl (owner) is who apparently always makes sure everyone know's "I'm the owner." Which now makes her seem very insecure about herself. My husband even laughed at my nails all evening when I came home that night. He commented how "lumpy" they were and "uneven." And he's a man, men don't notice stuff like, botched nails, THAT IS HOW BAD MY NAILS LOOKED! I do believe if you find the right manicurist, on the right day, who wants to do their job well and NOT fast, rushing you out and treating you like dirt, then you may find yourself walking out with some nice nails, however we did not have that same luck. The customer service was the most off putting thing of it all. I am all for small business's and don't always mind wasting my money on them, but this is not the place I care to do that. We were looking for a good place to get our nails done for our birthdays--and we stumbled upon OMG Nails via web searches. We had never heard of this place, so we assumed it was new. I tried checking in, and it wasn't listed on Yelp. They said they've been open for two years. Cool. Not promising at all. So we get mani-pedis and everything is fine until we get ready to leave--our toes would just not dry! We were there for hours--it was the most bizarre thing ever! They fixed the smudges, and had to completely redo my cousin's nails. So annoying--the whole process took forever. Also, the company policies on the wall say that children aren't allowed, but there was a crying baby in there while we were getting our nails done. Awful, right? I went home, and two days later, my "shellac" nail polish (a $22 upcharge--such a rip off) was chipped! Same thing happened to my sister's nails. Lucky for her, she lives in town, so they offered to fix hers. Since I live out of state, I contacted them about my chipped nail, and they said they could give me a $5 discount on a future service but can't make any accommodations for me because I won't be back in town for another 3 weeks, and that's too long for them. Why would I want a discount on a future service? You must be delirious if you think I'm spending any more money at OMG Nails! They also said they can't offer even a partial refund, even though we each spent upwards of $100 EACH on our sub-par services. They make a ton of excuses for why things go wrong: your toes didn't dry because it's too cold out, and you have to have OPI polish for it to dry quickly (it's YOUR salon, maybe YOU should use OPI polish on your customers!), or that other people don't experience chipped "shellac" polish when 2/3 customers in our group had chipped polish. There aren't a ton of nail salons in Anchorage, but I'd go to a different crappy place over this once since at least the other ones can do their crappy job in a shorter period of time and not overcharge you for it. read more

Crystal clearly loves what she does and it shows in her end product. She may be quick but she is efficient; and she takes her time when it is needed. A few of my nails curve down towards the tip so other nail technicians have made those fingers look like claws (NOT cute) but Crystal was able to identify it before I brought it up and explained how she would make those nails look even. The salon itself is very clean and the staff keeps all areas very tidy. All in all, I would definitely recommend others to visit this salon. read more

You get what you pay for. People complain about fast service? If you want to chat for an hour while someone does your nails, kudos for you on having the time, go somewhere where they need to take the time.
