Omega is a Greek coffee shop restaurant that does a fantastic breakfast business on the weekends. It's the kind of place where you'll find the senior citizen set having dinner at 4:30 pm. For breakfast, expect hearty omelets & huge pancakes along w/ excellent thick cut bacon & linguisa (the linguisa goes well in a bun for lunch too.) Coffee is always hot & cups are constantly being refilled. Burgers here are huge & cooked to order in many varieties (my favorite is the Greek Burger) & are served with steak cut fries. Omega is one of those places with a huge menu so not everything is great but most things are good. A stand-out is their Fettuccine Alfredo. My daughter loves them because they serve real roasted turkey in their sandwiches rather than that lunch meat crap. Dinner specials offer soup or salad & ice cream or pudding for dessert. My family lives down the street from Omega and I have been there a couple of times for the breakfast. I think that it's a solid family owned restaurant and the food is consistent...but I'm really here to write about the bar that is to the right of the entrance and attached to the restaurant. I bet you guys didn't even know there was a bar there right? I didn't either until my good friend told me about it. We were looking for a quiet place to have drinks that was close and he suggested it. I figured it was probably going to be a pretty depressing scene and sure enough it was. However, despite the lack of people there, the ones who hang out there are regulars and are pretty hilarious. One of them insisted we come back for Karaoke night on Saturdays. Obviously I knew I had to check that out and when I came home last weekend, we ended up going back to Omega bar for Karaoke. We showed up at 9 and there were only about 8 people there. Once again, a pretty depressing scene...but everyone was so friendly and drunk and fun that we ended up having a blast! I brought the house down with my rendition of Clarence Carter's "Strokin" and everyone was dancing. While the small crowd tends to sing more country songs, they were pretty down with whatever. I saw mixed reviews on yelp about this place from 1 star to 5. I decided to check it out my self and wont be back. We were seated 4 adults and 1 child in the banquet room on a Saturday mid morning. It was empty and we were all but forgotten. I asked a young teenager? Waiter to please ask someone to come serve us. While we waited to be aknowledged, a bus boy was cleaning up a table near us. yum I do love me some good olde fashion diner food! I've never even heard about this joint till my friend crystal took me here for breakfast last week. Very big selection of food items, it was so hard for me to choose what i wanted. I ended up getting the corned beef and hash with sunny side up eggs. Went here for breakfast yesterday and have no plans to come back, ever. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was that it was pretty packed, but there seemed to be a general aura of disorganization among the workers. We stood at the "Please wait to be served" sign for a good 10 minutes as a steady stream of people got up, paid and left. The lady running the cash register seemed only capable of handling one thing at a time, so she took people's money. Forgiveable, but suboptimal. We finally sit down and the friendly waitress comes along, drops off menus and takes pour drink order. The little lady orders coffee and I order a hot tea. Coffee comes lickety split and I am left waiting for my tea. OK, no problem. Not everyone orders tea, so maybe they need to boil water. I let this one go. About 10 minutes later, the waitress comes rushing by and says "hot tea is on the way." Hmmm... OK. Sure enough, she comes back with the tea, takes our order and rushes off to get the order in to the kitchen. The tea comes as a mug of "hot" water and a small pot of additional "hot" water with the teabag on the side. Curious... They give you one teabag and two water sources. I decided placing the teabag in the mug to brew, then moving it to the small pot was what they intended, so I went that route. The astute reader may have noticed that I quoted the word "hot" earlier in this paragraph. That's because the water was warm, not hot. Fine for bathing, but not for making tea. Anyone can make a mistake, right? I'll let this one slide. Beside, I'm the sort of fella that believes in not pissing off the food service worker until after I receive my food. Shortly thereafter, the food shows up. Looks pretty decent. I ordered corned beef hash with eggs, country potatoes and a pancake. The little lady ordered Italian sausage, eggs, hash browns and an English muffin. Ketchup was delivered with the food and there was already an assortment of jellies and hot sauces on the table. Oh, but then my eyes are drawn to the scoop of butter sitting high atop my lone pancake. Something doesn't seem quite right. Ah, that's it! The butter is completely in it's solid form! For the love of Pete! You actually need to bring butter up to greater than room temperature in order for it to melt, yet it was clearly not melting. I touched the pancake just to make sure that they hadn't given me plastic butter my mistake and the pancake was cold and hard, as if it were made the prior day. Well, that was the last straw. I vowed that I will never come back to Omega, ever. Having had such an unpleasant experience, I will say that the non-tea, non-pancake portion of the breakfast was not bad. It was pretty standard American breakfast type fare. I'd put it on par with Denny's or Coco's, but more expensive. Omega, this is what saved you from the dreaded single star. If you enjoy your shopping experience at Fry's, Omega will be right up your alley. If you have no sense of taste, texture or temperature, you'll probably like Omega just fine. For the rest of us, make the short trek across Calaveras and go to Mil's Diner. Way better food and service, plus, it's cheaper (and closer for me.) read more

My boyfriend and I were on the hunt for a place that was near by to our new home. As we've been packing and unpacking the last 3 days. This place was open, and wasn't full of people, so we thought we'd give it a try. The waitress was a sweetheart. The food, however, was horrible. We both ordered a steak medium rare, vegetables, and I ordered a baked potato and he ordered garlic mashed potatoes. The steaks were barely cooked, rare, to the point where it was still cold inside. The vegetables were barely hot and over cooked. The mashed potatoes were out of a box and looked clear from my point of view, and my baked potato was cold on the inside. The silverware smelled horrible, like it hadn't been washed. The Caesar salad was alright, but was over dressed. We only took the food home to be polite. Okay, I'll say it. This place is better than Denny's and IHOP. It's not a chain restaurant, but family owned and I believe by a Greek family? or maybe with Greek influence? Anyway, we got there and were seated right away on a Friday morning @ around 10am. They got our orders for drinks and brought us water right away. We took a while to decide on what we wanted but they were patient with our indecisiveness. It took about a good 10 minutes and we finally ordered, I got the Corned Beef Hash with Eggs & it comes with potatoes, onions and bell pepper, but I opted out of the bell peppers, they don't sit very well in my stomach early in the morning, and a side of 1 pancakes (which was huge). Fiance got the French Toast Grand Slam which comes with 2 eggs, 2 bacon strips and 2 sausages. The food was piled up on our plates when they came out, which I kinda expected from reading the reviews on YELP. But wow, it filled me up real fast! The only downer that I experienced was that our server kind of forgot to bring me my to-go box for like 10 minutes, after already promising she would. She kinda made up for it before we left by bringing me a bag before we walked out for the boxes. We had a lot of leftovers! Review is based on breakfast alone. Have been coming here occasionally for over 10 years. Total mom & pop diner/coffee shop. Their breakfast menu offers the usual staples. Nothing super fancy, but always good. Their portions are GI-NORMOUS! Best part, I have NEVER had to wait for a table. With some places, I would take this as a sign that it's not very good, but in this case, I think it's more because it's a total local joint that a lot of people don't know about. There is a Flames that is pretty much down the road and I think a lot of people go there for weekend breakfasts. Which is fine with me! :-) read more

A local family favorite. Even with a change in management in the last couple of years, Omegas still stands true to their original menu, quality, and taste. I can always rely on my Joe's special to be just how I like it. If you stop by for lunch try their Gyro with a side of Greek salad. It is very tasty and VERY filling. I am always in need of a to go box at the end of my meal. The only complaint I do have is about their coffee (which is good stuff). In the past, if two or more in your party ordered a cup of joe you would get a large personal pot at your table! I am not sure if they are cutting costs but they no longer offer this perk. I've been to Omega's quite a few times and it's actually quite decent. The decor and furniture is a little outdated, but nevertheless has a very nice home-y feel to it. There's breakfast, lunch, and dinner offered. The portions are very generous and filling. I've tried the avocado bacon omelette, and boy that omelette was seriously half the size of the plate. I got hash browns on the side, which were crispy and good tasting too. In addition, there is also a choice of toast on the side as well. The only thing I don't like it that the omelettes with cheese are not incorporated in the omelette. One omelette I got was just slices of cheddar cheese placed on top. The cheese of course hardened when it got cold, and I think the cheese would've tasted much better distributed through the omelette. You can tell many regulars go and they have very good service. I think Omega's is a decent brunch place to go if you're looking for a home-y feel restaurant, good service, and large filling portions that aren't too expensive. read more

I have been to this place a handful of times, starting about 3 yrs ago. It was a decent breakfast / diner style joint at first, but each visit gets progressively worse. I don't live near there anymore, but my dad does so I took him to breakfast at Omega. Boy, I wish I hadn't. We ordered french toast with ham and eggs (sadly, today the french toast was not good!) and eggs benedict (wow, what the F was up with the hollandaise or should I say orange goop???). Place looked clean and nicely laid out. These two stars are for that. We ordered breakfast with veggie skillet but eggs on the side. We were really particular to order some hash browns with mushrooms, but when the order arrived it was completely wrong. We were given a side of mushroom soup. The order arrived with eggs on top of skillet with broccoli pieces so large that I could not bite thru them. The pancake served was cold probably from a warmer unit. Food should be given zero star. We go to this restaurant often. Friday, we had a party for our family following our wedding. They set up a private area with white linens, etc. We asked for an open menu for 17 people. The staff and owner provided first class service. The food was delicious as we have grown to expect. One of our guests remarked that the chicken alfredo was better than Olive Garden. Everyone was pleased with the variety of choices on the menu. No one was disappointed with the service or food. I can't thank them enough for making our event memorable. read more

It cost the same as mine, but I feel his meal was worth a lot more than mine. Ours both cost $8.95. His country fried steak was smothered with country gravy. It looked really good, but didn't have any taste. Very bland. His meal also came with potatoes, but he opted for the homestyle pototoes. That tasted better than my hashbrowns since the potatoes were crispier and was cooked with onions and green bell peppers. The best part of his meal and the whole diner experience was the pancakes. His meal came with one pancake. The pancake was perfectly crisp on the onside and moist inside. So the texture was great! Usually, pancakes are always too soggy for me, but this place made it just the way I liked it. So if I ever go there again, I would not order anything but the pancakes. The coffee was not good either, but I guess I shouldn't expect much from a regular diner. I was a bit disappointed with my experience. If you want a good breakfast and don't mind traveling down to Los Gatos, I would definitely suggest my all time favorite breakfast place, Los Gatos Cafe. Coincidentally, nat suggested this place and we went. Holy crap, for a predominantly Asian centric area, it was basically all old caucasian peoples (lookin like that's their place to wind-down after bingo night). I did not expect for the food to be any good at all... sure enough, I was totally wrong. I ordered the carribean chicken sandwich (asked for the salsa on the side and a salad instead of french fries... to test the customer service), and it was delish!
