So I am retired after working in the construction industry for 35 years. I developed a set of hand drawn plans, 4 sheets with notes and a comprehensive bid schedule, all of which gave all bidders a comprehensive and uniform scope of work to bid. This allowed me to analyze bids on an apples to apples basis. So I obtained bids from 3 contractors after seeking bids from more. In selecting the successful bidder, first I went to the California Contractors Board to make sure each bidder's contracting license was current and they had Workman's Comp, General Liability, and were bonded. I then interviewed each bidder looking to see what their company make up was. Do they have employees performing the work? Are they subcontracting any of the work out? Do they own their own equipment? What was their proposed duration for project construction and what resources they will commit to the project? I review the bid documents in detail with each bidder prior to bid to make sure they capture the entire scope of work. I then review each bid again with the bidder to ensure they have captured the entire scope of work in their bid. Once satisfied with that I know whether I have a legitimate bid. I require the successful bidder to provide an additional insured certificate for general liability and a Work Comp certificate. So there are plenty of contractors out there where this type of process turns up RED flags which help you eliminate bidders. So now cutting to the chase, Omega Pavers, owned by Jason Smith, meets all of the conditions of being what I call a "real" contractor. He conducts his business as one should, has employees, owns his own equipment, and conducts his business as required by law. I also visited 3 projects he completed recently and his references gave him rave reviews. Jason is straight forward, honest, and easy to work with. He cares about his clients and the work he performs. He and his right-hand Clayton are also excellent communicators. You call, e-mail, or text and they respond in a timely manner. I signed an agreement with Omega Pavers and he didn't even ask for a deposit until Day 1 of construction which is rare in these times. Too many contractors get in your pocket early and play the rob Peter to Pay Paul syndrome. As to the quality of their work few contractors will match it. Their attention to detail is outstanding! Jason gave me a 2 week time frame and told me what resources he would commit to the project and he committed those resources to complete the work on time as promised and we could not be happier with the work! We hired Omega to install our backyard in 2019. They did an amazingly good job. Jason took care of all the permits and inspections for the gas and electric. He installed the drainage correctly. He sank the irrigation controls below ground which really, really helped in our little yard. We had Omega come back for phase 2 in 2020 and install a pergola and pave the front of the house. Amazing work by Jason and his crew! We are totally thrilled with our backyard. They paid close attention to detail, which I totally appreciated. They installed new drainage (old was clogged) and made sure to angle the pavers every so slightly to have the proper run off. If a paver had a blemish, they would replace it with a new one. They had great suggestions on lining the border of the yard with a darker paver to give some contrast. They had great suggestions on the caps were were looking at. They installed lighting as well which really gives the yard a nice ambiance at night. Their crew worked diligently from 7:30am till 4:30pm every day. We have had fantastic results from Jason Smith the owner of Omega Pavers and all of his workers. Several years ago Omega Pavers replaced our patio with pavers. Their workmanship was excellent and the pavers look as good today as when installed. Last year we decided to expand the patio area and also install a sitting wall. Once again Jason, his foreman Clayton and all of his workers did a fantastic job expanding the patio, building the sitting wall and even embedding lights in the wall. It looks like the entire patio was installed at the same time instead of at two different time periods. Last month we again hired Omega Pavers to build a retaining wall in place of a wooden fence/mud barrier. Jason came over and provided an estimate that was competitive compared to the cost of just replacing the fence with a wooden fence. In in 4 days the work was completed by his crew. His crew works hard; properly manages debris during construction, and at the end of construction makes sure that everything is cleaned up. Once again the workmanship is excellent; the retaining wall looks great; its color and texture match the previously constructed sitting wall. It is well constructed, he included a French drain behind it and also included embedded lighting. Its obvious that Jason and all of his workers take pride in what they do. read more

Jason and I came to an agreement , I signed the contract and the work was done exactly as stated in the contract. 2500 square feet of pavers down a sloping driveway. I am very happy with the work done. I am especially happy with the easy dealings with Jason. He was upfront about the cost. No beating around the bush, no hidden fees, no guessing, no bull shit. If I called, he answered and when he couldn't answer he called back within a reasonable time. He was always cheerful, friendly and most importantly Respectful! His crew was the same. They always addressed any of my concerns respectfully and listened with open ears. I'll say it again, Jason is a man of his word! We have had Omega Pavers do two separate jobs for us. First they did a patio and pond area for our vacation rental. This turned out so well, and lasted so well (it has been a few years since that was done), that we used them to do a larger patio, walkways, and stairs to the street for our own house. They did an excellent job on everything. One stone became loose after a few months, and Jason or one of his workers came and fixed it within a day of my letting them know. I'm surprised that Jason has only one review considering how busy and how long he's been in business. He's a young guy, family man but has been around for quite a while I can tell. Local and likes to work local which I can relate to. I was referred to him by All Masonry when looking to have some work done on my new home, but wasn't sure what. Luckily when I was visiting he was there to pick up materials and he took the time to ask me what I thought and we made a meeting time right then for him to come by the house in a few days. This is an honest review on the man himself, Jason. Jason came out to give me a quote on a house I was purchasing. Nice guy and the quote was good. A couple of months later when I was ready to go forward with the work (finally got moved in) I contacted Jason. We had some back and forth communication but often times I would not hear back. I thought this was strange because he would be super responsive and then nothing. After several weeks of reaching out and waiting I ended up going with someone else for my project. I felt put off so I decided to leave a review on Yelp. I originally gave him a poor review for not following through. Jason reached out to me after the review posted. He was very apologetic and mentioned he had some personal issues going on, but ultimately he owned it 100%. I really appreciate that. It says a lot about him. So going forward I would reach out to him again if I needed some work done.
