This place is amazing! Food fresh and delicious!! Staff friendly, knowledgeable and very accommodating! Definitely coming back to try the buffet everyone raves about. I ordered the Rancheros Enchiladas, light green sauce and super juicy and flavorful chicken. My friend ordered a specialty dish from the menu and the server recommended a substitute from the green pepper to fresh spinach, as my friend doesn't like peppers. This was a great choice after a long day of hiking in Death Valley. They serve up big portions here. My Chile relleno and taco were great. The kids liked their tacos and my wife had Camarones a la Diablo. All of those were terrific. They have cheaper and more expensive things on the menu so there is something for everyone read more

Olvera's is a nice neighborhood Mexican restaurant in downtown Ridgecrest. This facility will not win any beauty pageants, but this is a solid sit down option in the area with a wide variety of traditional and Mexican-American cuisine. They are located near China Lake and Ridgecrest Blvd with a decent amount of street parking. There is a service buffet of item plus a substantial menu. I chose the Mexican Flag enchilada platter with cheese, chicken, and beef enchiladas presented with green, white, and red sauces. The chips and salsa were about average, but I later learned you can request the "hot" salsa for more flavor. They only serve beer and wine, although they do serve a margarita without tequila. The food was good, although I bet the more authentic items are probably much better. Olvera's does have extremely limited hours making them very inconvenient for travelers. There are not too many options for restaurants in Ridgecrest, but Olvera's is a great option if they are open! read more

Well, if you're looking this place up, then you know there are very few options for Mexican food in Ridgecrest. Don't expect anything to change your life and bring you driving many miles back but I will say the food was your basic good Mexican food but the service really stood out. After the earthquake, this place was inundated with lots of working people from out of town and they handled it well. They totally served me store bought flan that comes individually packaged. They just threw a whole bunch of whipped creme and cinnamon to make it look homemade. Please if your going to serve store bought flan don't even try to serve it to someone that has grandparents that make the real stuff cause before that plate was put on our table I could tell it was prepackaged! Stopped here with a large group for dinner on the way to Mammoth. It's not fancy. The building is run down and so is the inside but it's ridge crest. however, the service was awesome! We were traveling through town (stopped overnight in our RV) and we were able to place a "to go " order just before closing time. Martin couldn't have been nicer-- we ordered fish tacos, they were very good and the hot salsa we requested was great. We enjoyed so much that we ordered breakfast burritos "to go " in the morning before leaving town. Again, the employees/owners (?) could not have been nicer. Service staff was attentive even though it was busy. Seems like many locals go in and very accommodating to young families as well. There on a Friday night and looked like most of the tables were filled. But we were still seated immediately. Had the churros and fried ice cream desserts, our party of six all enjoyed! Nay to the tamales and California burrito. Yay to the rice and beans, shrimp tacos, tacos, enchiladas, churros and fried ice cream. We spent all day at Death Valley National park and we're craving Mexican food. They were the only restaurant open later than 8pm and they were happy to serve us a "to go" order. They gave us our margaritas to go and some chips and salsa while we waited for our food to cook. We waited maybe 10-15 minutes before our food was ready. They gave us another serving of chips and salsa to go with our main entrees. We took our food back to our air BNB and inhaled it. It was delicious! The salsa has a peppery tomato base and the margaritas were strong with a sour twist, perfect! I highly recommend stopping in to this place if you want traditional Mexican food. This is a nice little place where a Chinese restaurant was for ages and ages. I would recommend going to this place whether you're a local or a visitor. The flavors are fresh and the service was spot on. Mother in Law and I both got the special of the day which was crab enchiladas with a salad and rice. (ok, the rice is unremarkable but it's rare to find a restaurant where you go "wow, did you taste the rice?) The salad was fresh. It was clearly a head of iceburg and not a bagged mix. They offered salad dressing but I put on salsa. The salsa is a cooked salsa that is nicely spicy. It's not muy caliente. Chips are thin and crisp and very tasty. Hubby and daughter got chicken flautas. They were huge. Hubby loved the beans. Daughter thought they were slightly on the sweet side and didn't care for them. I think it was the natural sweetness of a pinto bean and they were made from scratch, I could be wrong but I did think they were really fresh tasting. Didn't check out the bathrooms. We parked behind the Rite Aid. Atmosphere was really pleasant and the servers were all very friendly. Someone was always circling around to see if anyone needed anything. read more

Very extensive menu. I was hoping to try the buffet but it closed at 7 p.m. The atmosphere is authentic as it reminds me of a few cantinas I have eaten at in Northern Mexico. The food is prepared well and is on the Americanized side (not terribly spicy). The table salsa that is served with fresh chips is great. The bar has a full selection of drinks and Mexican beers. Service was about average. Good place for food in Ridgecrest and I plan to eat there again next time. read more

This is an old school Mexican restaurant like the ones I grew up eating at in East Los Angeles. The food is good, the service is good, the atmosphere is relaxing. This is a well run restaurant, and the only improvement would be to make the salsa hotter. I doubt the locals could handle though. I'm definitely returning. Wow I stopped in with my boyfriend and just loved their food. Cheese and beef enchiladas, fajitas, fruit, grapes, melon, etc. That is part of their "all you can eat buffet ) I think it was on a Monday, Not sure if it is Weekend buffet or not. Stopped by here during our one night stay in Ridgecrest on the way to mammoth and my friends and I were very impressed with the service and the food! I ordered the combination plate with Chile rellano and enchilada(chicken with green sauce) and every plate came with beans and rice. We stopped here while staying in Ridgecrest on a thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail. We loved the atmosphere- perfect for a group of friends or a family. Our waiter brought water and free chips and salsa as soon as we sat down. The staff is very attentive. My husband and I are vegan, and were relieved when the waiter knew right away that the regrows beans contain lard but their pinto beans did not. When we asked for hot sauce, he said "we have a house made hot sauce- let me go make sure it doesn't contain any animal products." (It didn't- and it was DELICIOUS!) Most of the time we are lucky when someone knows what vegan means, let alone being so conscientious and accommodating. We had amazing giant burritos and enjoyed them so much we went back the next night. And saw that many of our friends had done the same! I officially don't know any hikers who only ate here once. After leaving one bad Mexican restaurant we found this place. Food was ok. Was disappointed about the chile relleno. It's Not like what it supposed to be. I call it lazy chile relleno! And very little rice , shredded beef taco was soggy taco. Another thing it's not even cool in there. It's 100 degrees outside. Should have AC going. The best thing that could have possibly happened to us after we broke down on the 395. We ate two dinners here, both delicious and very reasonably priced, conveniently on the corner of China Lake and Ridgecrest.
