Of the many times I've been here I've only had one issue with the food. As our group was discussing it amongst ourselves, the server noticed something was wrong and demanded to fix the error. The service is usually spot on and the food is delicious. read more

Visited this restaurant twice after my first review. The buffet the second time was pretty bad as the food looked old and dried up and it was. We were very disappointed. Time went by, and we read some good reviews on a local site and decided to give it one more try. We ordered chili rellenos off the menu this time. They had been frozen and were watery and tasted like the rellenos at other Mexican restaurants in town. Why can't they make fresh ones? The rice was too bland. And, what's with the salsa that is like a soup? Can't they cut up fresh tomatoes with onions and cilantro like they do in Mexico and give us a hearty salsa? How about some Mexican music that is louder? I think they played music but could barely hear it. They need to create a better Mexican atmosphere with music people and hear. My husband who is from Mexico and is pretty picky about Mexican food, liked this place. The portions are a good size not too much not too little. Food had a good flavor except the rice which was a little bland. Salsa was pretty good. The Tacos were loaded and the tortilla seemed homemade, I am not certain that they were, but they definitely had a good flavor to them. Service was excellent I would eat there again. read more

So disappointed. Went there, sat in dining room at back and waited forever and got no service so had to go out front and find someone. They came, but brought no menu so they had to go back for that. The menu is no good as it does not give any type of description of what the ingredients of the items are - which would be nice to know prior to ordering. Got the fish tacos and what came were two very small tacos (no flavor) with beans and rice. And there was very little of those. No flavor to either the beans (which were runny) or the rice. They need to get on their wait staff and also re-do menus to include descriptions of ingredients in the food items! Very disappointed read more

Old-time California-Mexican food here. We got the last open table for a late weekday lunch. The tostadas, (beef) tacos and chiles rellenos were good, as was the XX. Prices were fair and the service was great. We were most impressed by the tasty salsas. If I'm ever again in Ridgecrest, I would certainly come back for another meal. read more

Just recently tried Olvera's for the first time, and boy was I pleasantly surprised. I admit I had become accustomed what passed for Mexican food in this town since moving here. But I won't go anywhere else now that I've gone to Olvera's. Every dish that I've had from there is full of flavor, and the portions/price are good as well. The salsa is awesome! read more

In my opinion, Olivera's is the best Mexican food in town! Great atmosphere, friendly owners and staff and very willing to take special requests (which this vegetarian appreciates!). If our family isn't cooking at home from our own family recipes, this is our go-to spot! Have been there many times; the enchiladas, chile rellenos, tortas, chillaquiles, and veggie Mexican pizza are among my favorites. This place seems good to us. the decoration inside is nice and fitting of the place the workers are nice they have a few diffrent items on the buffet that others don't and they seem to make the items better. fitting background music, sometimes the place is a bit warm inside for me. read more

On our way home from Death Valley we stayed the night in Ridgecrest and were looking for a yummy meal after a long day of hiking! As soon as we entered Olvera's we experienced nothing short of a wonderful dinning experience. It was a busy night and we were immediately seated, and were brought delicious chips and salsa! I believe the man who is the owner came over to our table and recommended a few things, everything sounded delicious and I decided to go with the Stuffed Zucchini (chicken and beef). I am a sucker for shredded chicken and the shredded chicken in the stuffed zucchini was so moist and flavorful, the zucchini was also cooked perfectly! Rice and beans were so good too. My husband got the Mexican Flag Entree of enchiladas and devoured it! Everyone was super welcoming and nice, our waiter was awesome and we always had water in our glass. A true gem of Ridgecrest, will definitely come back if we are out that way. Prices are also excellent! read more
