I wanted to try the newest fine dining Italian eatery in downtown Edmonton. However it was hard to get reservations when you need childcare coordinated as well. It happened to work on a Wednesday evening. And I am glad that I made reservations because it was packed. The reason why this place looses a star is that it is $75 dollars PER PERSON as a cancellation fee. Whoever decided this policy definately does not have a child or a family member with complex needs. Even though I loved this restaurant, our child's health is unpredictable so I probably will not come here again. It is basic but sylish inside. Minimal decor but has a trendy vibe. Service was great. We decided on the tasting menu which was delicous. I included the menu to show what we recieved. Everything was delicous. However the stand out was the Whipped goat riccota fettunta with rosemary oil, maldon sea salt, It was creamy, rich and paired well with the culatello - thinly sliced cured pork from parma, saba & parmigiano . This is on the regular menu as well. I also loved the Insalta verde- butter lettuce, radish, snap peas, mint, pistachios, lemon, olive oil & ricotta salata. The agnolotti with ricotta, pesto genovese & edgar farms asparagus was also very fresh. We were pretty stuffed that we saved most of our Arancini with leek, truffle, whey, asiago fresco, parmigiano reggiano for lunch the next day as well as the prork saltimbocca- pork tenderloin, prosciutto, capers, sage, butter & cauliflower puree. The sauce to this was amazing. Finally we had the panna cotta with summer fruit, pomegranate, pistachio. Super rich and super generous portion. Actually all the dishes were fairly generous in portion. For 95 dollars a person, it is a great way to try a bit of everything. I reccomend this restaurant but not if you have a lifestyle where things may be unpredictable. I think it is ridiculous to charge 75 bucks a person for a cancel. i don't mind a smaller amount but this is unreasonable. But if you go, please enjoy.

    Agnolotti....OMG delicious

I started the meal with the Don Vito cocktail, a spirit forward sweet concoction of Cognac, Bourbon and Limoncello. Immediately felt like it set the perfect tone for dinner. The tasting menu started with four appetizers, the Arancini, Goat Ricotta Crostini, Insalata Siciliana and the Culatello. My favorite was the arancini as it was packed full of melty cheese with so much flavor. The culatello was a crowd favorite and the crostini was a great palate cleanser. For secondi we had the Truffle Gnudi and Paccheri. For people who like meaty flavors go with the paccheri, but I liked the light cheese and truffle of the gnudi. By the time the Pollo Al Mattone came around, I could only manage a mouthful of the succulent brick chicken and the fresh cabbage salad as I was so full and would need to be rolled out of the restaurant. We ended with the Chocolate Budino, which was dark, creamy and delicious. A great tasting menu at a great price, especially compared to Toronto prices!

The appetizer with the cheese on toast was so much more flavorful than cheese on toast should be. Our companions had a pasta dish with sausage and it was amazing. If I lived in the area this would be a favorite to return to often. I like that the bartender just works on drinks for servers and there aren't patrons directly ordering drinks from him to slow the service.

Place has "very fancy" feel and would be good for special events/celebration dinners. Free bread to start was fine but not the best I have had. I prefer mine with butter but the oil/vinegar is probably more typical. We tried the: Calamari: 10/10, great texture, loved that we got 2 sauces to dip in. Fettuccine Tavolino (cheese wheel pasta): 10/10. Boyfriend was not too full after. Pasta was cooked perfectly. Nice cheesy creamy flavor. Ravioli Alla Zucca: 9/10, I can't remember if there were 6 or 7 ravioli in the dish. Very pleasing presentation. In my opinion too many sundried tomatoes. I love that it comes with sundried tomatoes as that added some great tang/flavor. Ravioli themselves were perfectly cooked. Brown butter sauce was excellent and wanted more. Creme Brule: 9/10, exactly as expected, definitely enough to share between 2 people. Affogato: vanilla gelato was 11/10 good to me but boyfriend didn't like the flavor. We both agree the espresso was excellent. Very small portion (too small to share!). Free cookies at the end were fine. Overall food was excellent and I'll be back but to try something different on the menu.

Violino, in an old home, its staff, and the food exceeded our expectations. We will most certainly be making a reservation the next time we visit the Oilers hometown. Damn that was good! Ushered upstairs, didn't really get a chance to take it in, so will be sure to stop and look around next time. The complimentary bread was great, the martini's good although one glass had far more than the other. I ordered the spaghetti bolognese, and although quite different from what we make at home, was excellent! K had the Alfredo flambé which was fired up tableside. It seems to be a popular option as it happened 6 or 7 times while we dined. They also don't soak you for the privilege of the tableside presentation. It was a little cheesy for K, but excellent nonetheless. Our server Eugenia from Hamburg was excellent, she can serve us anytime. She was attentive, and her timing was exceptional! We plan on making a reservation the next time we are in Edmonton. Top notch experience!

Loved the upscale atmosphere, and the service is impeccable…read more The owner is around keeping things running smoothly, always friendly and professional, there to offer greetings, which is also why this business is a hit success. Like a truly experienced business owner, he can be having all kinds of challenges thrown at him, and he just keeps rolling, never skips a beat. I'll definitely be back for the virgin basil strawberry smash and the excellent prawns. They were happy to make substitutions to make the pasta dish exactly what I had been dreaming of. (The only complaint is that the scallops were tiny and not what I expected since I'm use to the big kind. I'd add more seafood for the price, is the only thing I'd change!) After my first time, I can't wait to try more of their food in the future! Make sure you bring your family and friends to enjoy this local treasure! Be sure to take a cab so you don't have to worry about parking, especially if you are staying nearby at the Westin! (Walking distance) Reservations are a must have here, however they will find you a seat at the bar if they can't find you a table! Very accommodating! Can't wait to visit again! The house shot is also to die for! Thank you Bianco for a wonderful evening experience.

Server was nice but never refilled our table water even after we moved it a couple times to be within her view of the table (my friend swears he saw her see us move it to the edge of the table too). Rialto Float cocktail was nice if you like Pisco. Royal Jamaican Ginger beer was good too. Olive Calde - large portion for price. Olives were fine. Calamari - 10/10 delicious, dips were great too. Gnocchi with pancetta - 10/10, surprising filling and even though the Gnocchi were huge chunks they were well cooked. Waitress recommend Campanella Aragosta - 7/10. If you like spicy it's fine but otherwise the flavor is actually very bland. Pasta itself was unique and well cooked. Large portion. Beef Brisket Agnolotti - 7/10, 8 large ravioli filled with brisket. Sauce was good, ravioli were well cooked but brisket inside was pretty underwhelming. Friend who got this dish was ++ hungry still after and said he would order something else next time for the price. Funghi Cipolla - 8/10, it was as expected. Ricotta cheesecake - cheesecake itself was great with the ricotta taste but crust was soooo bad. So overly thick and dry and considering our waitress failed to give us water the entire meal it was impossible to eat (so dry). Date cake - Unfortunately they didn't have gelato as was advertised on the menu to go with the cake so whipped cream was substituted. Was told this only after we ordered and friend asked for the flavors of gelato. Cake had a few uncooked flour lumps. Flavor was fine but not as flavorful/spice-heavy as I hoped. Sprouts on top looked really messy but tasted fine. Overall not a seamless experience as I would have expected from an establishment of this caliber.

Our server was helpful, seemed to always appear at the exact right moment and had wonderful recommendations. We started with the Olive Calde which was served warm- marinated Italian olives, bell peppers, roasted garlic, pepperoncino, EVOO, pan-fried focaccia which was divine. The oysters were lovely. We opted to share a few dishes-a ricotta gnocchi dish, the short rib and the chef's special which was 3 risotto seafood lobster pieces. Plus the Brussel sprouts which just get them! Rented out the private dining room (5pm/8pm options) which required a $500.00 deposit. We customized our own $78.00/person set menu. 22% automatic gratuity is added on top. If you bring your own cake, they charge $3.00/person. Our waiter, Jordan, was excellent. We ordered two Bollini pinot grigio ($55.00) and Il Bruciato DOC ($75.00) wine bottles. For food, there was black tiger shrimps, scallops, risotto, rigatoni (not al dente), brazino (sea bass was the best dish of the night) and short rib. The vegetables (carrots, brussel sprouts and oyster mushrooms) were impressively small. Three small bowls for the entire table. We ordered another brussel sprout ($16.00). They also charged $2.50 for hot water. Food was okay but nothing memorable.
