The food was great. The ambiance is great. The service is good. But allow me to elaborate as to why I gave 3 stars: the food was great, but overpriced. The ambiance was great (no buts on the ambiance; it's a nice place). The service was good, but given my bill was about $100 dollars, I could not afford to tip as well. The look I received from our server on the way out made me and my girlfriend feel horrible. I am on supported living. I make $70 a week (I spent a week and a half of my earnings on one meal here). I destroyed my shoulder in an accident last year, and I have no job. I normally don't eat out because I can't afford it. Tonight (2025-03-11) was different because it was mine and my girlfriend's 6 month anniversary (we like to do something romantic for each other each month to celebrate). We had a good time, but the look I received soured the whole evening. I know servers are underpaid and rely on tips. Some customers just can't afford to give them. I hope this review underlines that point, and teaches the server that they do not know their customer's background: the server did everything perfectly until the look. To the server who served us, I am sorry I couldn't give you a tip, but it was no reason to give such a scathing stare. Amazing food, service and ambiance. Love that the pasta is home made. We felt welcomed once we sat foot in there. I had the truffle pasta and my friend had the chicken with pasta. We also ordered to great Ceasars. They are fantastic. The prices are higher than perhaps other pasta places, but the quaility of the food shows and the portions are huge. I had lunch for the next day. Service was spot on and friendly. Food tasted delicious. I did find that my truffle pasta lacked a bit on the truffle flavour. Otherwise delicous. Do try this if you are in the mood for some filling food, a warm atmosphere, and for lunch the next day! It's been awhile since I've been to Cafe Amore and it was better than I remembered. Our waiter was so knowledgeable and helpful, making our experience even better. Lovely cozy ambience. Small family run restaurant is super friendly. One of the best places in Edmonton for pasta. Located near grant macewan college. Theres street parking available for 1 hour for free. Spots are limited but if you dont mind walking you will get one. Once inside its so warm and cozy. Checkered red and white table cloths. Honestly. The atmosphere reminds me the most of eating at a restaurant in rome but in edmonton. Its similar to a locale warp. Reservations are a must. This restaurant is jam packed full all the time. In the evening there are two seatings: 5-730 then 745-1000. We were not all rushed after staying a tad after 10pm. I enjoyed the live accordion music. It was cute. We started with an antipesto platter it was smaller than most with about three peices of everything. Some cheese wrapped in prosuitto, marinated artichokes, olives and a few pieces of cheese. Its best for about two to three people. Pretty average at best. I have to say the ceasers here are impressive. Literally a huge beer cup filled to the rim with a huge pickle, like 8 olives and even a spoonful of horseradish. It was an appetizer on its own. The group of girls I was with wanted to share. So we had a little bit of everything. The portion sizes are huge. Good for two people easy. All of them were tasty with plenty of sauces. I have to say the best pastas were the three cheese pasta and the friday clam special with a garlic wine sauce. They were both creamy and surprisingly light for heavy dishes. I tried the bolagnese, the truffled chicken and mushrooms, the clam garlic wine sauce pasta and the three cheese. We shared a chicken parmigiana as well which was plenty of meat for three people. The chickens were the size of a hand and there was two pieces smothered in cheese and sauce. It was all great. We had carb overload afterwards and it was very satisfying. There was still plenty of leftovers. There were 7 of us, and we each had full plates but left with three bags of leftovers still! For dessert we shared the tiramisu which was different bc the ladyfingers were crushed into the cheese and there was a lot of whipped cream. It was good but not at all authentic tiramisu. I have to highly recommend the red velvet cake. It has this thick center of white chocolate that is not sweet which was so good. It comes from a local bakery in the west end and it is by far one of the best red velvet cakes ive had in edmonton. Dont miss out. Ive come for lunch and despite the business being busy. Service was great. Food delicious and we were in and out in less than an hour. Which at lunch time is a perk! They have paninis only before 4pm . And they are served on a crusty bread which was delicious. Pricewise...it seems a good value bc the portions are large and do not skimp out on meat or sauces. Came for dinner with a friend. Service is always great, never any complaints, however the food was mediocre. Paying $32 for chicken parmigiana, the breading to the chicken should not be soggy due to the large amount of sauce, which also made it hard to taste the mozzarella. For starters we ordered the Cesar salad and the maple sausage crostini. The meat on the crostini tasted heavily processed and the flavours of the maple and ricotta did not make sense to the palate. The bread was also extremely hard to bite. For dessert we got the tiramisu, which was a 5/5! Overall I found the quality of the food did not align with the price. Cafe Amore is a cosy, no-frills Italian restaurant in Edmonton. I called and asked if I can walk in since I'm in the area and they said they are not busy at that time and I am welcome to come in. I really like the entrance with brick and decoration outside. He assist me sitting next to the kinda storage (but not sure) with curtains. My server Justine said Hi and she took my order and suggested some appetizers. She's very helpful and polite. While I'm eating I feel like Allan the door runner is rushing me when I asked him to turn the light on my table. I get it I have no reservation but at least he treat me as a customer. To be honest I did not enjoy my food and I just rush going out of the restaurant. I didn't feel that I am welcome. My family enjoyed dinner at Cafe Amore last night and we felt as though we had to drop a review! This experience was terrific, start to finish. Our server was engaged and accommodating. He was incredibly attentive and made great recommendations without being intrusive, we wanted for nothing. Drinks were full at all times. The food was exceptional. We loved every dish we ordered and knowing how great they were, we intend to come back again and run through the menu. Hard to imagine that every dish wouldn't be just as good. Fantastic variety, really something for everyone. The atmosphere was perfect for a special family dinner, great lighting soft music and lots of laughter throughout the restaurant. It had a very upbeat and happy feeling. Every staff member was smiling and happy, sincerely seemed as though they love their work. Our daughter ordered the special vanilla crème brûlée and the serving dish was large. Largest I have ever seen, so she offered to share. One of the passing servers noticed she was dipping a 'garnish strawberry' into the custard with precision and brought her a dish with more strawberries! My spouse and I went to celebrate a friend's birthday with a large group this last Saturday. I am embarrassed that the locale was recommended by me, because I've had several nice meals at Cafe Amore Bistro in the past. Sadly, this experience was not as pleasant. Let me start off by saying that had it not been for the seafood dishes, I may have given a 3-star rating for my most recent experience, but when a restaurant serves a customer clearly-spoiled and rotten seafood, and when the extremely rude owner then tries to gaslight the customer and escalate a discrete complaint by making a scene at the table to convince the customer that the off-taste is merely the "way they spice that particular dish", or alternatively, tries to shirk responsibility for serving spoiled seafood by placing the blame on his supplier (the owner tried BOTH excuses that day), then I feel the restaurant has nothing but contempt for the customer, and has no objection to putting the health and well-being of its customers over profit. This is what happened on Saturday. I ordered an appetiser and the pork-shoulder & risotto special. Others at the table ordered other various non-seafood dishes. Only my spouse ordered a seafood main course (the vongole). When the server brought out the food, reactions were mixed around the table. My own meal was "meh" ... the risotto was cold in the middle, the vegetables overcooked, and the pork shoulder was piping hot and smothered in sauce to hide that it was a little dry. Certainly not the most palatable dish I've ever tasted, but far from inedible. Others around the table had varying reviews on their selections from "absolutely delicious" to "bland but okay". My spouse however had a different experience entirely with his clams and linguine. The pasta was wonderfully al dente, with a tasty sauce. But as soon as he ate one clam, he spat it out expressing disgust, saying he got a bad clam, and that it was bitter and totally spoiled. He tried another and spat it out as well. Now, my spouse is a seafood gourmand, and well-travelled eating seafood all over the world in all sorts of establishments. He asked me to taste another clam to ensure his tastebuds were not off that day. I did, took a few chews, and spat it out immediately. It was clearly spoiled, bitter, and revolting. It was difficult to get the bitter taste out of my mouth. We called the server who suggested that my spouse was mistaken, as "manila clams taste different than the other clams most people are used to". This was complete gaslighting. My husband responded that manila clams are usually sweeter and juicier than other varieties of clam, but these clams were bitter, spoiled, and clearly off". The owner/manager was clearly irritated at the complaint, and very rude as he tried to argue with my spouse, implying that my spouse just didn't know his seafood, or that "his taste profile was off, and they could do nothing about that". However, he offered to prepare something different, which my husband accepted. He ordered the same dish with prawns instead of clams. Bad mistake! When the substitute arrived, it was the same story. The prawns had a distinct "bleach-like" ammonia taste and smell, they had a slimy, mushy texture, and were also clearly off. I don't know when the restaurant gets its seafood delivery, but it was apparent that their seafood was NOT fresh, and that they were clearing out old product, assuming their customers were not sophisticated enough to know the difference. The owner insisted that the prawns "were peeled that very day", as if that in any way established their freshness. The incredibly rude owner/manager began to raise his voice and try to bully our table that his seafood was fresh, but if there was a problem, it was his supplier's fault. My spouse said he wouldn't be eating the dish, but we were not asking for anything ... we just wanted them to know that their seafood was spoiled. We were charged full price anyway, and after paying more than $200 for our meal, my husband was ill and vomiting throughout the night. Won't be going back. read more

"Love Cafe". I'm in love. Cafe Amore is one of those long-standing, highly rated places, that actually meets, if not surpasses expectations. The signature drinks are perfected. Someone knew what they were doing when they crafted the drinks. My S.O. raved about his Caesar, and I was amazed by my cocktail that was topped with an edible hibiscus that was like candy. The pasta is obviously what you come here for, but don't skip the appetizers. The most delicious Caesar salad I've ever had. I've since been back and tried the berry salad which was very refreshing and full of fresh berries. The Aglio E Olio was hands down the best version of this classic Italian staple that I've ever had. Again, just bursting with flavour. I added the chicken breast and never thought I'd be impressed with how tasty a chicken breast could be. We went on a Friday night and they got us a table even though we didn't have a reservation. The ambiance was very cozy. Our server was very nice and hospitable. When I was watching him serve the other tables, he made the people feel like they're guests in his restaurant, not just paying customers to feed. I loved that so much. Every time I go to Cafe Amore, it's busy. One Friday, it was so slammed for lunch that they were turning people away. Be smart and make a reservation! The interior is quaint and cozy with family photos lining the walls/ceiling and checkered tablecloths round out the traditional Italian décor. Sit at the bar, tables or enjoy the breeze with their outside patio, you can't really go wrong. The menu consists of two pages. Everything is delicious. Seriously, I don't think I've ever ordered a bad dish. But what you want to zone in on is the "Daily Pasta Specials". The best part? It's only $10.00! Yeah, that's not a typo. $10.00 dollars. Too bad they don't have buy 10 pastas and get one free type cards, I'd be soooo close to finishing one off. We had the pleasure of trying out the food at Cafe Amore Bistro last night thanks to a thoughtful gift card that I received for Mother's Day from our son in Vancouver. We all love Italian food and have our favourite places in Edmonton for sure. Well, we can add Cafe Amore to the list as it was a wonderful experience to receive their take-out (as we are for now still locked out of the in house restaurant experience because of the pandemic.) Even the fellow on the phone who took our order was upbeat and super friendly! We received copious amounts of food when we ordered the Pasta Trio, all still warm, and each dish delicious. I came to this bistro as it was highly recommended by friends and colleagues. Parking is not too much of an issue in this location for the evening. The atmosphere is friendly, well lit, and bustling with a range of patrons...from couples on dates to groups of friends or families. I strongly recommend making reservations as they book up quickly. We were lucky enough to get seats at the bar to have dinner. They do have some off the menu specials. Actually they ran out of the special appetizer that evening, but also had a great substitute recommendation of a maple chilli sausage crostini. Delicious! The Amore Pescatori was something I've been wanting to try as that was the main dish my friends raved about. It did not disappoint either. I personally am not a fan of seafood, but the flavours were well balanced and tasty! Portion sizes were large enough for both my husband and I to split one appetizer and 1 main dish and feel too full for dessert. Service was thoughtful, efficient, and well timed. I Love this place. Cafe Amore has a winning recipe here. This small intimate place has great food, fabulous service and did I mention great food ? If you are coming to Cafe Amore, call before coming and make a reservation. The place is fairly small, and if it's a weekend, you will definitely need a reservation. Upon walking in, you are immediately greeted warmly and welcomed in, as if you are going to your best Italian friends home. We were seated and our server was immediately there and welcomed us. We were given a couple of mins to check out the drinks menu and then a few more with the food menu. Specials of course were recited and other suggestions were made. We decided to go with the Seafood special (which was the Amore Pescatore) and I went with the Chipotle Rose with penne. Considering how busy the place is, the food is served up quickly and it's piping hot ! Again I'm going back to the analogy of your best Italian friend, well the food is like it came from their Mom. Feels like home made goodness ! The right amount of flavour, spice and the pasta is cooked to perfection. We also decided to go with the Velvet cake for dessert. I know, if you go to an Italian restaurant, you should go with the tiramisu. But the Red Velvet is definitely a winner. Overall, This place is fabulous. Parking can be a pain. Cafe Amore exceeded expectations. My boyfriend and I came here for dinner in December for a nice evening meal. We made a reservation roughly two weeks in advance for 4:45pm, as we were going to the Citadel theatre at 7:00pm. I hadn't looked in to cafe amore very much prior, so I was unsure of how necessary an earlier reservation would be, but we were definitely grateful for it. The dining space is quite limited so I would not recommend trying to get a table without a reservation during prime times. We were generously greeted at the door by one of the family owners, I really appreciated this, it gave a very nice warm touch to our experience. We were sat immediately at a small table for two. The space is quite intimate, so there's not a lot of privacy between yourself and the guests next to you, but we didn't find this a problem. The space has nice decor giving off a very welcoming atmosphere. It felt a lot like attending a big family dinner, it was a very comfortable space especially for the quality. The service was excellent. All the staff were very knowledgeable and attentive. The place was full so the wait staff were quick and to the point and did not spend any unnecessary time at the table, again this is something to appreciate. We were able to completely enjoy our meal together. Of course the star of the evening was the food itself. Between us we shared the sautéed calamari, and some bread with oil and vinegar. My boyfriend ordered the lobster mac and cheese, and I had to order the amore pescatore with the white wine sauce. We finished with the gelato! It was all outstanding. The sautéed calamari came in a house tomato wine sauce, it was perfectly cooked and so delicate. A very nice change from the usual breaded calamari. We were debating between the bruschetta or the bread with oil and vinegar. We decided on the bread just to keep things simple. I am always a fan of bread and oil, but for the size of the meal we had I would recommend just one appetizer. Yet, we still managed to eat every last piece of food possible. The entrees were amazing. We shared them each between us. Again, I really don't think you can go wrong with lobster mac and cheese. It was wonderfully made pasta, with a creamy and cheesy sauce that did not overwhelm the lobster. It was all paired together very well. I think this is a great option if you're a fan of seafood, but you're not looking for too strong of a punch. It was definitely the highlight of the meal for my boyfriend. For myself, the amore pescatore knocked me off my feet. I am a huge fan of seafood and an even bigger fan of seafood and pasta. Wow. The dish was huge and insanely packed with flavour. The garlic white wine sauce was a perfect showcase for all the delicious flavours, I definitely recommend it. It was packed with king crab, prawns, mussels, shrimp, and baby clams, they all came in very generous portions as well. Between my boyfriend and myself we managed to finish the entire thing. It really is a medley of flavours from the sea. My advice is to save yourself from the appetizers so you can enjoy the main course, or be prepared to leave stuffed! It is definitely a seafood dish though, if that's not for you I would suggest exploring the rest of the menu. Despite being beyond full we finished our meal with the trio gelato. It did not specify each of the flavours on the menu, I suspect they might change on occasion. We conclude the flavours to be raspberry, grapefruit, and espresso, but we could be wrong. Regardless, the flavours were bold and a nice end to our dining experience. We felt the prices were very reasonable for the service, the food quality, and the overall experience.
