This is definitely the restaurant I recommend for Italian cuisine. The server was attentive with nice attitude. I was being served well. I've been here a few times. Generally most of their dishes are satisfying. In particular the mussels in White wine sauce is amazing. You will feel like having the second round because the sauce has a very good balance of the wine, cream and the other ingredients. Their soup and pasta taste rich and stimulate your appetite and you want more and more. The restaurant preserves the traditional Italian style for the interior and ambient. It is enjoyable to indulge in the journey of Italian flavours here. Surely a must try in Edmonton!

We were looking for a place to have dinner in Edmonton and came across this place! Don't let the entrance scare you away...it kind of gave us pause, but thought what the heck! We were pleasantly surprised! We enjoyed our dinner here! We had the meatball appetizer, which was very tasty! We had the St Anthony pizza which is a Neapolitan style pizza, which we thought was delicious. We also had Pappardelle con ragu, which was very good! And they give you very large servings! We enjoyed our dinner there and glad we came in!

I came to Vaticano Cucina recently. I'd give the restaurant 8.8/10 for its unique décor, comforting atmosphere, excellent service, and quality food. I recommend coming here with family or for a special occasion. Highlights include: - Service, Atmosphere, Decor: 9/10 - Barone Montalto Pinot Grigio: 8.8/10: House wine, light and goes well with food - Saute Di Cozze: 8.8/10 Mussels tossed in rose, overall fresh and flavourful - Gnocchi Boscaiola: 8.5/10: Creamy well made gnocchi in mushroom sauce. Glad there was the wine or else it probably would've been too creamy towards the end - Sticky Toffee Pudding: 8.5/10: Good valance if sponge cake with toffee sauce and ice cream

This place has the potential to be much better than it is imho. We won a free hotel stay across the street so we decided to check it out. The decor is very cool, Sistine chapel type art on the ceiling is a nice touch. They've done a good job cause all those years of it being a Greek restaurant it needed a good face lift, mission accomplished Started out with some meatballs and they were actually very good. There was a dollop of pesto on all of them which certainly wasn't mentioned on the menu and would send me scrambling for an epi pen in most cases but we asked and they use sunflower seeds instead of nuts so crisis adverted, but you should probably add that little detail to the description The gf got the chicken parmigiana, which was fairly excellent. Nice and crispy breading, good cheese, good size, unfortunately the sauce on top and with her pasta needed a ton of help. A good fistful of salt and pepper woulda helped a ton. Maybe some basil at the end to add a little depth. I had the porchetta and I had to get a side of the cacio e pepe. The pork was tasty a little bland but well cooked. Cacio e pepe needed waaaay less cacio and waaaay more pepe (less cheese more pepper) the sauce was so heavy and rich. The pasta was just swimming in the sauce. Again no salt anywhere in sight, it was such a cloying sauce I couldn't eat it after a few bites. Finished off with one of my favourite things in an Italian place, good ol Tiramisu. This was not good, no coffee liqueur flavour at all, kinda just mushy and weird. Our server was nice and everything was pretty quick so that's always nice. It's definitely pricey for what you get...just under 200 bucks with a 40 dollar bottle of wine and a couple cocktails...I could probably get talked into trying it again if I was staying at that same hotel but I certainly wouldn't be making the journey on my own volition anytime soon. Cheers Andy

It was a quiet night there. Food was absolutely delicious. We would definitely go back for another dinner. Recommend to give this place a try.

We had a romantic date night here. It was tastefully decorated and an elegant amount of ambiance. Our waiter was attentive giving us the specials and they were able to accommodate my fiance's dietary needs with gluten free options. He said he really enjoyed the gluten free pasta. I had the spaghetti carbonara and the sauce was divine! Really good portion sizes as well. If you're looking for an appetizer please please please order the bruschetta. It was the perfect snack to wake up the taste buds, paired with a glass of red wine it was a memorable dinner

Had made a reservation 45 minutes prior to attending. We were seated by the window, server was accommodating and allowed us to move due to how cold I was. The food came out quickly, and let me tell you this was the best Italian restaurant I've been to by far. Fav lasagna (even better than what grandma makes) and I tried my partners short beef it melted in my mouth--love love love. Can't wait to come back and try more!!

This is a very nice place to go for dinner. The artwork on the walls is classy, and the ceilings are gorgeously decorated. The seating and tables are kept clean and neat. Our server for the evening was fairly quick, and very attentive. The menu is very Italian, with a fair amount of gluten free options, as well as dairy free, or substitute options. The food we ordered looked and tasted delicious; very appealing to the eye, with great texture and taste to match. Definately a top notch place to take out someone special!

Had the pleasure of eating here for my birthday a few days ago and I have to say it's totally underrated. I have driven by it numerous times and never thought to eat here, it's right on gateway boulevard and in the same parking lots as travel lodge hotel so I wouldn't have ever thought to try this out. It's absolutely beautiful inside, the ceilings are painted to replicated the Sistine chapel, it's very spacious and clean inside. Our reservation were for 7:30pm but we shower up early and they were able to accommodate us early. The hostess was very nice and the service was great. We ordered the Porchetta ($27) and the servings are large, came with fresh roasted veggies and gnocchi. Penne Lucifero ($19) and added pork, this meal was perfect. I highly recommend the pear Prosecco too. We had leftovers to take with us. I just wish the location and outside matched how great it is inside.

I started the meal with the Don Vito cocktail, a spirit forward sweet concoction of Cognac, Bourbon and Limoncello. Immediately felt like it set the perfect tone for dinner. The tasting menu started with four appetizers, the Arancini, Goat Ricotta Crostini, Insalata Siciliana and the Culatello. My favorite was the arancini as it was packed full of melty cheese with so much flavor. The culatello was a crowd favorite and the crostini was a great palate cleanser. For secondi we had the Truffle Gnudi and Paccheri. For people who like meaty flavors go with the paccheri, but I liked the light cheese and truffle of the gnudi. By the time the Pollo Al Mattone came around, I could only manage a mouthful of the succulent brick chicken and the fresh cabbage salad as I was so full and would need to be rolled out of the restaurant. We ended with the Chocolate Budino, which was dark, creamy and delicious. A great tasting menu at a great price, especially compared to Toronto prices!

I like that the bartender just works on drinks for servers and there aren't patrons directly ordering drinks from him to slow the service.

Place has "very fancy" feel and would be good for special events/celebration dinners. Free bread to start was fine but not the best I have had. I prefer mine with butter but the oil/vinegar is probably more typical. We tried the: Calamari: 10/10, great texture, loved that we got 2 sauces to dip in. Fettuccine Tavolino (cheese wheel pasta): 10/10. Boyfriend was not too full after. Pasta was cooked perfectly. Nice cheesy creamy flavor. Ravioli Alla Zucca: 9/10, I can't remember if there were 6 or 7 ravioli in the dish. Very pleasing presentation. In my opinion too many sundried tomatoes. I love that it comes with sundried tomatoes as that added some great tang/flavor. Ravioli themselves were perfectly cooked. Brown butter sauce was excellent and wanted more. Creme Brule: 9/10, exactly as expected, definitely enough to share between 2 people. Affogato: vanilla gelato was 11/10 good to me but boyfriend didn't like the flavor. We both agree the espresso was excellent. Very small portion (too small to share!). Free cookies at the end were fine. Overall food was excellent and I'll be back but to try something different on the menu.

The complimentary bread was great, the martini's good although one glass had far more than the other. I ordered the spaghetti bolognese, and although quite different from what we make at home, was excellent! K had the Alfredo flambé which was fired up tableside. It seems to be a popular option as it happened 6 or 7 times while we dined. They also don't soak you for the privilege of the tableside presentation. It was a little cheesy for K, but excellent nonetheless. Our server Eugenia from Hamburg was excellent, she can serve us anytime. She was attentive, and her timing was exceptional! We plan on making a reservation the next time we are in Edmonton. Top notch experience!

I'll definitely be back for the virgin basil strawberry smash and the excellent prawns. They were happy to make substitutions to make the pasta dish exactly what I had been dreaming of. Server was nice but never refilled our table water even after we moved it a couple times to be within her view of the table (my friend swears he saw her see us move it to the edge of the table too). Rialto Float cocktail was nice if you like Pisco. Royal Jamaican Ginger beer was good too. Olive Calde - large portion for price. Olives were fine. Calamari - 10/10 delicious, dips were great too. Gnocchi with pancetta - 10/10, surprising filling and even though the Gnocchi were huge chunks they were well cooked. Waitress recommend Campanella Aragosta - 7/10. If you like spicy it's fine but otherwise the flavor is actually very bland. Pasta itself was unique and well cooked. Large portion. Beef Brisket Agnolotti - 7/10, 8 large ravioli filled with brisket. Sauce was good, ravioli were well cooked but brisket inside was pretty underwhelming. Friend who got this dish was ++ hungry still after and said he would order something else next time for the price. Funghi Cipolla - 8/10, it was as expected. Ricotta cheesecake - cheesecake itself was great with the ricotta taste but crust was soooo bad. So overly thick and dry and considering our waitress failed to give us water the entire meal it was impossible to eat (so dry). Date cake - Unfortunately they didn't have gelato as was advertised on the menu to go with the cake so whipped cream was substituted. Was told this only after we ordered and friend asked for the flavors of gelato. Cake had a few uncooked flour lumps. Flavor was fine but not as flavorful/spice-heavy as I hoped. Sprouts on top looked really messy but tasted fine. Overall not a seamless experience as I would have expected from an establishment of this caliber.
