old bev Stopped here to check the place out. Great atmosphere. Would love to have a coffee date here. There was only un-iced cinnamon rolls as baked goods so I only got a chai latte - very nice. Bottom inch was pretty gritty and that's how you know if was good!

Tiny ramekin of ketchup only filled a quarter

My friend and I were looking forward to checking this place out and made a special trip there to do so since neither of us are from the area. I arrived first and stood at the counter since I wasn't sure if it's seat yourself or not. Had to wait awhile, it was obvious they were busy. I asked if the small table for two in front of the counter was the only table available and was told yes so I took it. My friend arrived shortly. There was a wait until we received menus and we were each given glass of water. We tried to ask the server what's included in high tea and she walked away from us. We were wondering if she did not notice that we were talking to her and were left confused. She did come back later and answer the question but kept saying how they needed two days notice for it. We were not trying to order it, just curious since other tables had cute little tiered serving platters on them but we couldn't tell what was on them exactly. I took a peek in the other room which is the other side of the cafe and there appeared to be some open seating available. After a wait we were able to order. My friend asked if the pulled pork in her dish is very sweet, if it has bbq sauce on it. The server didn't seem to know so my friend asked if she could get the dish without the pulled pork and was told yes. We ordered drinks and our meal since we had to wait awhile for our server to come to take our order (was not staggered where you order drinks first and then your food afterwards). While the server was taking our order, I asked her if we could sit on the other side since it was very cold where we were since we got a blast of cold air directly at us any time the door was opened. She said they were full and that the open spots on the other side were for reservations so fair enough, we stayed put. We waited a very long time after ordering and never received our drinks which were not complicated drinks (orange juice and a chai tea latte). Many people left and came during this time. The new customers who just arrived were all greeted and sat (this is not the experience I had upon arrival). A party of two came in who clearly did not have a reservation since they told the server that it was for two and she took them to the other side. I asked the server why she told me there were no available seats on the other side when she just sat two patrons over there who didn't have a reservation. She made a couple of excuses and then said "well do you want the big table"? I agreed since it was on the warmer side, more roomier and a couple of the chairs had cushions on them (we had two very uncomfortable wood chairs with no cushions before moving). We took our now empty water glasses with us and changed tables. We were left at our new table for quite awhile. When our food finally arrived, a server plunked it down and left without a word. My friend tried to tell her that we still hadn't received our drinks but she completely ignored her. The other server came with our drinks afterwards. My chai latte was cold (I assume it was made and sat waiting to be served so long that it was cold upon receiving). I had the classic eggs Benedict which was good but there was hardly any hollandaise sauce on it which for me, is the best part. My tiny ramekin of ketchup was only a quarter filled so I didn't have enough ketchup for my wedges. We had to ask for more water as our glasses sat empty for some time. My friends dish was supposed to have bacon and mushrooms in it. There was no bacon and one little piece of mushroom. When we told the server she said that there should have been bacon in it and that she told the cook to put bacon in it and that she would have to talk to the cook. She never came back to address the matter. I believe her shift ended as I saw her leave some time afterwards. My friend was charged full price for a dish that didn't include all the ingredients it should have. She is close to her due date, heavily pregnant with twins so I felt extra awful that the whole affair was such a disappointment. We didn't enjoy our experience and won't be back.

Cute private room which we had organized for our event. The cafe moved our time 3 times because they had double booked. This was a big inconvenience for our 25 guests. While the room was cute, the service was bad. Slow. Untrained. Unprofessional. Trying and sweet but inefficient. The food itself was just ok....a few things were ok, a few things were not good. However, the price was attractive for our large party. Come here if you need a cute private room, just have very low expectations for the rest.

High tea

Old Beverly Cafe is a hidden gem on 118 Ave. The inside is so welcoming and suits the ambiance for both a casual breakfast or a fancier high tea. The restaurant is split in two with a more rustic side and a more Victorian side. This is by far the most affordable high tea in Edmonton. Each person can pick their own tea flavour and a nice assortment of classic finger sandwiches, sweets and scones were included. The scones were plain with a side of cream and orange marmalade. There were 2 of each finger sandwich, which were egg salad, cucumber and salmon. We each got strawberry short cake, chocolate mousse cake and a mini vanilla cupcake.

Grilled sandwiches and high tea!

Amazing food and great vibes Highly recommend. Took a friend for her birthday and had the most amazing time! Support this local gem

Cute little spot

Popped in for lunch & what a little gem on 118! This cozy spot feels rustic & comfortable (a Little House on the Prairie meets coffee shop/book nook vibe. A small menu with a few surprising choices (daily breakfast until noon, burgers, sandwiches, hotdogs, bowls, etc) Prices are reasonable for the size of the portions - *funny how something could look small but really, it's the same portion size of the item if I'd make it at home, so I don't know why I think it's small?? The burger menu sounded interesting so we had a bacon cheeseburger and a lettuce wrapped lemlem burger (spicy Ethiopian patty) Both were $8 + $6 to add a side and pop. The lemlem was delicious!! Soooo flavourful, very spicy, definitely something new-to-me and I loved it. The rest of the food was good, the soup a homemade tomato bacon with dollops of creamy cheese? Sour cream? A very cute spot and I'm curious to try their German-style burger and a poutine next time. Also vegan/vegetarian options on menu. I also saw on they completed renos on their expansion and will double in space.

Very nice decor from back in the coal mining days of old Beverly

Super friendly and attentive duo run this adorable and funky throwback to old Beverly history. Well made basics done from scratch. Several vegetarian and vegan options but small menu done right. Can't wait for the expanded restaurant and their homemade ice cream treats.

Small, boring menu with underwhelming food. Don't go if your hungry and looking for a nice meal.

Pyro used to be my go to burger place. If I would have tried Fox before, it would have been my #1…read more Best burger I have ever had! Thin crispy patties and a nice fresh bun. Great service, great food, a tad pricey but you get what you paid for.

We adventured to this burger spot because we heard they were offering free kids meals for the month…read moreof October, the caveat was that you had to purchase a regular meal for each kids meal. But we have 2 kids and 2 adults so it worked out for us! The kids menu items are a hot dog, a cheeseburger or Mac and cheese. All the portions for the kids looked really big which I appreciated. My boys are eaters and it was nice to see that they got just as many French fries on their plate as an adult portion. And PS the garlic fries are amazing!!! I'm so happy we got 3 orders of the garlic fries and I was curious and tried the animal fries as well- they were different...tasty but definitely a unique taste. The closest I can describe it is cheese wiz and mustard and caramelized onions. Very potent, I saw they have an Animal burger which probably uses that same mixture combo. Animal fries cost an extra $4 so for the extra cost I would probably just go with the garlic fries every time because they don't have an extra cost. I ordered the most popular Bacon Pepper Smash ($21 single $25 double) and really enjoyed the flavor and the price was on point. Smash sauce, pickled peppers, bacon, American cheddar, iceberg. The single was definitely enough for myself but with the thinner patties I could see why some people order the double. Hubby had the Inferno ($21 single $25 double) Inferno sauce, pickled peppers, crispy fried onions, American Swiss, iceberg. The sauce was spicy! Good but spicy! And it kind of overpowered the whole thing. Parking down the side street was a bit of a walk but not terrible and right beside this place is a cool looking liquor store and Kind Ice Cream across the road. The space itself was pretty big and we felt like we weren't too smushed up on booth next to the next table. Bathrooms are downstairs, mind your head! And there was a baby change table in the women's bathroom.
