Gnocchi with garlic scampi, zucchini, sun-dried tomato, black garlic, aglio olio
Christina G.

We visited Sorrentino's on a Saturday for Garlic Fest. Even though we did not have reservations, the restaurant was able to accommodate us. We were quickly seated, and the service continued to be exceptional during our entire meal. We ordered a bottle of the Chloe Cabernet Sauvignon, garlic bread knots, gnocchi, and linguine. All dishes were hot, flavourful, and made fresh with quality ingredients. The whole dining experience was wonderful and I look forward to returning soon!

I had the lamb with green mint jelly. Mouthwatering!

A wonderful environment for the entire family. All of the waiters and hostesses were so polite, helpful and the quality of the food was outstanding. The pricing is reasonable as well. The atmosphere is that of a fine dining establishment that is owned by generations of family. Every detail seemed in order.

Had a lovely dinner here recently with friends visiting from BC. I had been to the west side location before but not to the one close to my home. Go figure! Our service was lovely. Our apps were just okay. We had a variety. We tried the Beef Carpaccio, it was good but a bit too salty here. And a few assagini to try different ones. All just okay. I had the Lamb Sirloin while my guests both had the Veal Cannelloni. I have to say, we all raved about our main courses. The wine was quite nice, I don't recall the bottle. I am not one for dessert as you can see from most reviews. I'm more of an after dinner drink kind of girl. However, a gf wanted to split one and we tried the lemon cake. Freaking delish!

Came on a Friday night with work colleagues and the restaurant was busy but not full. We waited a few minutes at the front door but no one came to greet us until we walked further into the restaurant. We were a group of 5 so they set up a table for us. Service was efficient and they came by a few times to ask whether we wanted drinks, although several servers came by and asked the same thing. They give a warm bun to dip with oil and vinegar. The Cioppino was excellent with lots of seafood and the seafood was cooked perfectly (even the fish). The bison ribs were the special of the day and was ok but with a price tag of $60, it was not worth it.

We were seated on a busy Saturday night without a reservation. Great table. Attentive service. I find the food to be good for quantity over quality. There's just nothing that special about it. I would recommend the ravioli. Lobster... not so much.

We got a New Years Eve curbside dinner from Sorrentino. We ordered for ourselves and a couple of extra to deliver to family and friends. We were able to do that because the 4 course dinner was affordable. While we wish we could dine in, curbside was a really good alternative. We had a tomato burrata salad, arancini, lasagna, braised short rib, salmon, side veggies, some potatoes, and tiramisu that made me say Mmmmm with every bite. Pickup was super smooth. Everything I have to say about this is good!

Came here for a Wedding rehearsal dinner and was seated in the banquet room with a set menu. Grilled Shrimp w/ Penne Pasta and Side Salad Appetizer - 3 stars - Penne Pasta was undercooked and cold - Grilled shrimp and side salad were okay New York Steak - 4 stars - My request for Medium-rare was fulfilled - Steak was tender and juicy Tiramisu - 2 stars - ...subpar for an Italian restaurant - ...didn't have enough rum - ...cake didn't taste too fresh Wait staff was friendly and courteous. Beverages were constantly refilled. Parking is readily available in underground garage across the street. ...Total for dinner was unknown....I'm assuming $60+ for food only + tax and gratuity...based upon the menu on their website.

Haven't been to this location for quite a while. Went here for a retirement lunch. We were put in a private room which was great! There was about 20 of us in the room They have a mushroom event on right now so I decided to have the mushroom soup to start and it was very good. Highly recommend! For my entree I had the beef tenderloin. It was pretty good (fairly average dish); the steak was seasoned well but They slightly overlooked my steak. Service was great!!!

Overall a nice experience...went there for a work related dinner...we had reserved the large conference room on the right side...the room was spacious and the place was ideal for dinner meeting and discussion...we had course meal menu which had diverse items...the pastas were tasty...salmon was excellent...tiramisu was one of the best i have had in the city...service was good...i had a bad experience at sorrentino on the south side, but the downtown location is excellent and high end...recommended

I started the meal with the Don Vito cocktail, a spirit forward sweet concoction of Cognac, Bourbon and Limoncello. Immediately felt like it set the perfect tone for dinner. The tasting menu started with four appetizers, the Arancini, Goat Ricotta Crostini, Insalata Siciliana and the Culatello. My favorite was the arancini as it was packed full of melty cheese with so much flavor. The culatello was a crowd favorite and the crostini was a great palate cleanser. For secondi we had the Truffle Gnudi and Paccheri. For people who like meaty flavors go with the paccheri, but I liked the light cheese and truffle of the gnudi. By the time the Pollo Al Mattone came around, I could only manage a mouthful of the succulent brick chicken and the fresh cabbage salad as I was so full and would need to be rolled out of the restaurant. We ended with the Chocolate Budino, which was dark, creamy and delicious. A great tasting menu at a great price, especially compared to Toronto prices!

The appetizer with the cheese on toast was so much more flavorful than cheese on toast should be. Our companions had a pasta dish with sausage and it was amazing. If I lived in the area this would be a favorite to return to often. I like that the bartender just works on drinks for servers and there aren't patrons directly ordering drinks from him to slow the service.

Place has "very fancy" feel and would be good for special events/celebration dinners. Free bread to start was fine but not the best I have had. I prefer mine with butter but the oil/vinegar is probably more typical. We tried the: Calamari: 10/10, great texture, loved that we got 2 sauces to dip in. Fettuccine Tavolino (cheese wheel pasta): 10/10. Boyfriend was not too full after. Pasta was cooked perfectly. Nice cheesy creamy flavor. Ravioli Alla Zucca: 9/10, I can't remember if there were 6 or 7 ravioli in the dish. Very pleasing presentation. In my opinion too many sundried tomatoes. I love that it comes with sundried tomatoes as that added some great tang/flavor. Ravioli themselves were perfectly cooked. Brown butter sauce was excellent and wanted more. Creme Brule: 9/10, exactly as expected, definitely enough to share between 2 people. Affogato: vanilla gelato was 11/10 good to me but boyfriend didn't like the flavor. We both agree the espresso was excellent. Very small portion (too small to share!). Free cookies at the end were fine. Overall food was excellent and I'll be back but to try something different on the menu.

Violino, in an old home, its staff, and the food exceeded our expectations. We will most certainly be making a reservation the next time we visit the Oilers hometown. Damn that was good! Ushered upstairs, didn't really get a chance to take it in, so will be sure to stop and look around next time. The complimentary bread was great, the martini's good although one glass had far more than the other. I ordered the spaghetti bolognese, and although quite different from what we make at home, was excellent! K had the Alfredo flambé which was fired up tableside. It seems to be a popular option as it happened 6 or 7 times while we dined. They also don't soak you for the privilege of the tableside presentation. It was a little cheesy for K, but excellent nonetheless. Our server Eugenia from Hamburg was excellent, she can serve us anytime. She was attentive, and her timing was exceptional! We plan on making a reservation the next time we are in Edmonton. Top notch experience!

Server was nice but never refilled our table water even after we moved it a couple times to be within her view of the table (my friend swears he saw her see us move it to the edge of the table too). Rialto Float cocktail was nice if you like Pisco. Royal Jamaican Ginger beer was good too. Olive Calde - large portion for price. Olives were fine. Calamari - 10/10 delicious, dips were great too. Gnocchi with pancetta - 10/10, surprising filling and even though the Gnocchi were huge chunks they were well cooked. Waitress recommend Campanella Aragosta - 7/10. If you like spicy it's fine but otherwise the flavor is actually very bland. Pasta itself was unique and well cooked. Large portion. Beef Brisket Agnolotti - 7/10, 8 large ravioli filled with brisket. Sauce was good, ravioli were well cooked but brisket inside was pretty underwhelming. Friend who got this dish was ++ hungry still after and said he would order something else next time for the price. Funghi Cipolla - 8/10, it was as expected. Ricotta cheesecake - cheesecake itself was great with the ricotta taste but crust was soooo bad. So overly thick and dry and considering our waitress failed to give us water the entire meal it was impossible to eat (so dry). Date cake - Unfortunately they didn't have gelato as was advertised on the menu to go with the cake so whipped cream was substituted. Was told this only after we ordered and friend asked for the flavors of gelato. Cake had a few uncooked flour lumps. Flavor was fine but not as flavorful/spice-heavy as I hoped. Sprouts on top looked really messy but tasted fine. Overall not a seamless experience as I would have expected from an establishment of this caliber.

My tablemate had a pasta dish and the smaller portion, which was perfect for lunch. We ordered the tiramisu for dessert. The portion size was big, so a dessert for sharing after having a meal. It was delicious and I enjoyed it. I'll definitely be back to enjoy more great food!

If you bring your own cake, they charge $3.00/person. Our waiter, Jordan, was excellent. We ordered two Bollini pinot grigio ($55.00) and Il Bruciato DOC ($75.00) wine bottles. For food, there was black tiger shrimps, scallops, risotto, rigatoni (not al dente), brazino (sea bass was the best dish of the night) and short rib.
