It is…read morelocated on the top (6th) floor of the Shay, in an open air layout by its very small pool. It is a small space, but well appointed, candy to the eye, very high up there in summer ambiance, a cool breeze, toe tapping music and the relax vibe. It is difficult to imagine that you are actually in the Los Angeles area. I came here for their 4-course $35 Dine LA Lunch menu. Always looking for something different, I started with the Papas Al Mole. It was overdosed with Crema and Queso Fresco, burying the papas. Less of Mole, thats okay, yet this concoction sogged up the whole top layer of fries and made them worthless. Why do eateries do that? For the second course, Aguachile De Sandia Y Tomate. The star here were the wedges of heirloom tomatoes. They blended well with the watermelon cubes and light touch of Aguachile (not too acidic). Exactly my style, a superb dish. Perfecto. For the main (a hand held choice), for me, the Carne Asada Taco. The Arrachera marinated flank steak pieces were soft, tender, juicy and bursting with flavor. Think dissolution on the taste buds. A well orchestrated combination of a few condiments to highlight the meat (as it should be), all housed in a fresh, lightly toasted tortilla shell that was both crisp and soft. Though a very simple presentation, this taco was a masterpiece in culinary construction and prowess. For the final and fourth course, a no brainer, Churros with chocolate sauce. They could have ended on a high note but did not. Why? The 3 small churro cylinders were cute and ideal, but they were accompanied with a chocolate paste (not a sauce, as per the menu). Thus, taking away the thrill and viscous liquid pleasure of chocolate. As it transpired, this was the last restaurant on my Dine LA "To Do List". And I knew I would pay a price for it, in terms of travel. Getting there, the parking, and the slow, choking traffic crawl back to the SFV, more than lived up to its expectations. The whole round trip, with dining, took almost 4 hours. And yes, the Butterfly was worth it. A fitting finale, for new discoveries and creative eating, during these 2 fantastic weeks of Dine LA. If only they could modify the first and last courses. Oh well.

We got water right away and then waited a little bit before our server was able to get over to take our drink orders. We had Bloody Marys along with the Prosecco that came with brunch, and both were yummy. For the first course, we got one of each option for the table: the bacon-wrapped dates, fruit, and walnut sticky bun. ALL delicious. They ended up coming out at the same time as our entrées, which were omelettes and chicken and waffles. Some people might not love the timing, but honestly, we didn't mind at all. We just grazed on everything together and enjoyed the whole table. It seemed like there was one server handling pretty much the entire dining room, and he was working his ass off. We let him know that we could see how much he was juggling and that we were perfectly happy being patient. Even though he was clearly slammed, he regularly did fly-bys to check on us and make sure we had what we needed. Dine LA is hectic, and he was doing his best to keep up with a very busy room. The food was good, we had no complaints, and overall we really enjoyed ourselves. I'd absolutely go back to AOC for their regular brunch and would love to try dinner too.

Thankfully, they were also participating in the Dine LA event! I believe it was around $30 per person, which was honestly a pretty good deal. I loved the food and our server was amazing. However, I unfortunately didn't love the service from the host. We had a reservation for 12:30 PM, and we were seated outside (mind you it was like over 90 degrees). I normally wouldn't mind outdoor seating but it was WAY too hot in their outdoor area, even with the mesh covering. They definitely need to invest in some misters/fans, especially during the summer (it's also 2026). I asked the host if we could be moved indoors since I could visibly see multiple open seats. She told me no because those seats were reserved for "4 people," which didn't really make sense to me when I could literally see with my own two eyes that several of the indoor tables were occupied by parties of two. When I pointed that out, she didn't really have anything to say back. The whole interaction honestly left a bad impression of the restaurant as a whole. I don't want to assume anything, but it did make me question whether racial identity may have played a part in how we were treated, especially after noticing that the guests seated inside appeared to be non-POC. I ended up asking the host AGAIN if we could please be moved inside because I genuinely couldn't bear the heat anymore, and she was finally able to accommodate us with an indoor seating. Also, especially on busy weekends and during events like Dine LA, I think they should consider having two hosts instead of just one. It seemed like a lot for one person to manage. Overall, the food was really good and our server was great, but the hosting experience and outdoor seating situation definitely could've been better.

The food overall was very mediocre for what they charged. Actually every dish was very salty, like a mouthful of salt. The ambiance, presentation, and plating were very nice, but did not make up for the lack of 'wow' on the actual taste we were hoping for. Not only was it unremarkable, I'm not sure I would even call it delicious. It was just eh, and we ate it because we already ordered it. Honestly for a pure Indian food fix (no frills on "high end" ambiance) I would rather just go to an Indian lunch buffet for the price of one entree here, or even the Samosa house 3 item combo for less than $20, where the appetizers and food are way more delicious and fulfilling. - wagyu beef kulcha- do not recommend. Salty and reminiscent of a Mexican pizza made with ground beef. Don't be fooled by the "wagyu" label - crab bhuna- a bit of a letdown compared to reviews. The banana buns were good. The crab mixture was salty and the crab taste gets lost inside the heavily flavored sauce - gobhi bezule cauliflower- was okay. The sauce was a bit heavy - kotu parotta - mediocre flavored beef mush on the salty side. Unsure why other yelpers raved about this. - date and almond korma- the 4 little kormas were meh, but the sauce was good though. Kind of like your standard orange tikka masala sauce. - garlic naan - ironically my favorite dish they made here haha. It was actually crispy but had a fluffy chew and wasn't burnt. At least they got this right for $7 naan! Overall would not reorder any of these dishes and would not return. I love Indian food and really wanted to like the place but sadly it did live up to the 4.8 star expectations. Also random aside, when we walked in the restaurant smelled of commercial cleaning solution (like at the gas station), and the bathroom had heavy air too which made me hold my breath; would recommend some air purifier machines to neutralize the air.

All their weekday lunch specials come with hot & sour soup and an egg roll. I had to get their signature spicy orange chicken which is tangy and perfectly crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. It's seriously such a great deal with the amount they give you. Even their dim sum items are discounted during lunch too so I got all my favorites like shumai, radish cakes, green onion pancakes, string beans, and even the rainbow xiaolongbao sampler which is basically Russian roulette for you to guess the flavor of each. But the real sleeper on the menu are the sweet & spicy corn ribs. Love the nod to the Asian taste profile, and it's sooo satisfying to eat! Thanks for reading! ^-^

I've been coming here for the past two years, and their quality is stayed consistently high, if not even improving! They also have an amazing cocktail menu (which is more unusual for dim sum spots) and weekday lunch special menu from 12-3 PM, which features select dim sum and traditional Chinese dish combos at VERY affordable prices (all under $20). Since I never watch that kind of 'stuff', that connection meant nothing to me. However, now that it's been sold to the purveyors of a successful Venice bar lounge, Roosterfish moved up quickly on our gaydar for a visit during PRIDE weekend. It was upbeat and loud but surprisingly not off-putting. That has a lot to do with the century-old Mediterranean olive trees in the massive open-air courtyard in the middle. Even wrapped in colorful fairy lights, the trees breathe life into the space even with a huge disco ball hanging from the canopy. The dance floor was fairly crowded and pulsating like crazy, but the surrounding tables weren't as coveted. There were plenty of bartenders during PRIDE, so there was no wait for drink orders. The Tequila Sunrises were on the high side at $20 given the plastic cups (Photo), but they gave us the requisite kick.
