I attended a wedding here. It was nicely decorated for the holidays. It was a little confusing with the setup where everything was given, it was also a hotel, but not a big deal. The service was appreciated and helpful. The cocktail hour had a number of different station including a mashed potato bar, carving station, pasta station, cold foods, etc. I will not comment on everything I tried but just give a few highlights. There were also servers passing around a lot of dishes. Some of the highlights for me was the brisket at the carving station as it was very tender and meaty. The eggplant rollatini was flavorful with plenty of cheese and tomato sauce. My favorite pass around item was the bacon wrapped scallops while the worst was the mini chicken and waffle as it was soggy and not very good. For the main dinner, there was a salad, intermezzo, main entrée, and dessert. The signature grain house salad consisted of mixed greens, Roquefort cheese, Anjou pears, toasted pecans, and aged sherry vinaigrette. This was nicely done. All of the ingredients worked well with one another and the vinaigrette brought everything together. The intermezzo was a lemon sorbet which was definitely refreshing. For my main course, I had the honey miso glazed salmon. It came with wild rice and asparagus. This was great. The salmon was cooked perfectly and there was a perfect amount of the honey miso present. It was a nice sized portion as well. I also tried the vegetarian entrée that contained roasted red pepper stuffed with butternut squash risotto. This was surprisingly good too. The risotto was filling and creamy. I did not have any dessert. I also had their continental breakfast the next morning. It was a standard one with fruits, granola, oatmeal, donuts, breads, hard boiled eggs. The bread was a little stale, but besides that, it was what one expects at a continental breakfast. I came to the olde mill inn for a team building event and dinner. Such a beautiful spot! Looks like a great place for an event or wedding. Nice that it's a hotel too. Our evening started off with a mozzarella making class which we got to make and take home. After making mozzarella, we had a crostini competition. So fun! Really loved the team building plus friendly competition. After our team building event, we enjoyed an Italian buffet with homemade ravioli, eggplant rotini, meatballs, and more. NJ has some really great Italian food. For a buffet, it was pretty freaking good. The chef leading the mozzarella making class and the crostini competition was so great! The entire event staff was wonderful. Definitely would go back especially if I lived in the area. read more

We stayed 1 night while visiting a friend. (Dec. 2025). The gentleman at the front desk was very nice, said they had plenty of rooms. When checking in, he said, "Oh, let me go check the room". He was gone quite awhile and then came back and said "ok, it is all set". But the room was not very clean, the wastebaskets had trash in them. I took the bags out of the wastebaskets and brought them to the front desk to also make sure the sheets were clean and that he had not just made the bed. Our room was on the side near the main highway., so we listened to trucks and traffic the whole time there. Luckily it was just 1 night and we left early the next morning. read more

Had my wedding here and stayed one night and loved everything about it. Initial asking of questions by email got quick responses, were able to quickly make a meeting with Lea to show us around and answer question and get us a contract, and John was our maitre d' helping us plan out the details. A lot of our guests thought we spent way more than we did. They included everything from setup, cleanup, chairs ready for ceremony, great service during the wedding, included cake order, delivery, cake cutting and table decor. and gave us a bottle of champagne while getting ready. We got to stay a free night. They had everything brought to our room and it was a nice spacious size and a really comfortable bed. Things really couldn't have gone better. They also sent us an envelope including a free night within a year as an anniversary gift. All the staff was so nice and the lobby, breakfast area, and courtyard are all very picturesque for photos and relaxing if you just want to chill. The breakfast had more of a spread on weekends, but still it was great to have free breakfast included. I'm looking forward to my returning visit and highly recommend this place for a venue or just a nice place to stay in the area. read more

I've been thinking about writing this review for almost a year and a half. I got married in December of 2021. To be honest, I don't even know where to begin. This was horrific. It was mortifying. I honestly think I will spend the rest of my life upset about how my wedding day turned out. My now husband and I chose this venue because of we loved the idea of getting married somewhere with historical charm. We also needed a hotel on site due to our large number of out-of-town guests. We ended up choosing the "Grain House" as our official venue-- but the wedding services came from the Olde Mill Inn itself. We were promised an experienced maitre'd that would make our wedding and the planning process "a breeze". We were the first of our friends to get married. We really had no clue what to expect. The maitre'd we were assigned was named "John". We met with him about a month before the actual wedding date. We spoke at length about our wishes for the wedding/ brunch the following day. I emphasized the importance of the brunch (it was my mom's birthday and I really wanted her to feel special). John knew this. About two weeks before the wedding, I received our final bill. It did not have the brunch listed on it. I called the venue in a complete panic. John claimed I never spoke to him about the brunch and that it was too late to add it. This was a huge deal. I had sent out invitations specifically for this brunch. I explained that to John and his manager. They told me they would be able to throw something together. The brunch was on. Great! Then, two days before the wedding, I dropped off a few of my decorations. I had ordered table clothes after specifically asking John the table size, only to be told that day he gave me the wrong size! The table clothes did not fit the entire table. Somehow, though, we made it work. Then, there was the wedding day itself. I will preface this with saying, I was an extremely laid back bride. Here is a list of just a few of the issues that occurred: -COVID-19 (omicron) decided to make its grand reappearance the week of the wedding. We had a ton of guests unable to make the wedding last minute. My family asked John have the staff remove their place settings so it wouldn't look as empty. This caused John to panic. He was literally running around like a cartoon character. -We asked John for a pair of scissors. You would have thought we asked him for bars of gold. His eyes went wide. He started sweating and running back and forth. It took him almost an hour to find scissors. -The front desk would not let me or my bridal party back into the bridal suite (we had accidentally left our keys) without ID....I was literally in a wedding dress. -The heaters that were supposed to keep guests warm were facing the complete wrong direction. -Me and my bridal party were loaded into the van to be driven to the ceremony site (across the parking lot, The garden area of The Grain House). John promised to come get us from the van when it was our time to walk down the aisle. He forgot us. My wedding literally started without me and my bridesmaids. My mom had to run to the van and rush us down the aisle. -John then rolled out the aisle runner as I was about to walk down the aisle. This was supposed to be my "big moment", I had dreamt of it my entire childhood. It was, unfortunately, overshadowed by John. He literally stood in front of me for 10 minutes trying to cut the runner...with his car keys. In my wedding video, you can literally see John standing directly in front of me at the end of the aisle struggling. We finally just told him to stop and left the runner crumpled at the end of the aisle. -I asked John to put my bridal party's "dancing" shoes in the reception room for later on in the night. He put them ON the cake table (there are shoes next to my cake in almost all of the photos I have of it. -John forgot about the cake cutting. My videographer almost left without it happening. -When we finally cut the cake, John physically grabbed me and would not stop touching me because my husband and I were not in the position HE wanted. My photographer had to step in and ask him to back off. It was awful. Despite all of this, however, my family and I tried our best to enjoy the rest of the night. We had an excellent DJ and the food and drinks were great! We ignored the other issues (they forgot to steam the napkins so there are huge wrinkles in them in all of my photos). Oh, and as for the brunch the next day, apparently John made the sign directing guests were it was at 3am. Why do we know this? Because it listed me as the bride but my husband's BROTHER as the groom. He used the wrong name! We literally could not believe it. We ended up taking the sign home and it's currently framed in our living room. It's quite the conversation starter. read more

We came for thanksgiving this year to celebrate a few of my in laws birthdays. To put it accurately, the food was a 6 and the service was an 8. This is no jab or slight to them by any means either. I really had a good time, loved the ambiance and the desert station was pretty on point. As for the food itself, it wasn't horrible by any means. It was rather.. just.. umm.. ok. The vegetarian Mac was pretty damn good. But the sweet potatoes were everything but sweet. I did enjoy the meatballs and lamb sliders, which I've never had for thanksgiving, but they were pretty darn tasty! The prime rib was extremely fatty and red as a cherry skittle. The mash potatoes were creamy but needed salt and butter, and the super thing gravy didn't help salvage them by any means. The kielbasa was good, but cold. The cranberry sauce was authentic but lacked sugar. The star was this roast pork situation they were giving out at one of the carving stations. Now THAT right there alone coupled with the deserts got them a 6/10 for food. Honestly if I could give them 3.5 stars I totally would because again, I definitely enjoyed my experience there today. The waiters and staff were very personable, but out of the way at the same time. So I can't commend them enough for making it a great experience, especially with this being my first time going out on thanksgiving. read more

We came for a peaceful stay. They should have sectioned off wedding party from regular overnight guests. They mixed us in. This meant we got to lay in bed with bass and loud party guests yelling and drunk well past midnight screaming right outside the room. Then they begin vacuuming at midnight. The hotel staff opted to not tell us about the wedding or the volume that would come from it and what hour it ended. We would have had a better night of sleep in our car. Speaking of our car...we have an electric car and chose this place specifically because they have an ev charger. Unfortunately no one that works there, (including the manager) have the code for it. read more

I don't stay in hotels often so when I do, even a middle of the road hotel is a treat. This stay was excellent though. We came for a wedding, early before the 3pm check in time but the front desk clerk allowed us to check in despite that which was really cool. The room had the essentials, comfortable beds, linens, fridge and TV. The layout of the hotel is nice. Little nooks with sitting areas that extend beyond the main lobby. Everything inside looks well kept as do the grounds outside. I really like that the Mill is really like a Hotel-Motel. You can enter your room both from outside in the parking lot or within the Hotel. The staff were nice when asked questions about directions. The continental breakfast wasn't magnificent but the choices were plentiful with fruit, pastries, eggs, sausage, waffles and more. The presentation was nice too. There was even whipped cream and strawberries for the waffles which was a nice touch. Hot coffee and juices were available too which is all welcome rather than having to go out to a restaurant and spend additional money. Overall it was a good stay, when it comes to hotels I'm fairly easy to please but they did a pretty good job with accommodations and the look of the hotel adds to how inviting it is. read more

Stayed here to attend a wedding in January that took place in the restaurant across the parking lot. The hotel was decked out in cute winter decor. There's ample parking and checking in/ out was quick and easy. We stayed on the first floor and our room had another door that opened into the parking lot. This was super convenient, as we could park the car right outside and access it easily. The bathroom had a good amount of counter space and lots of handy mirrors that made it easy to get ready for the evening. There were also two sinks -- one inside with the toilet and shower, and then one outside. The free breakfast was ok and as expected for a hotel breakfast. read more

Definitely a big step above your typical wedding halls based on ambiance, food, service & an amazing outdoor courtyard!! A must-check location for any wedding or event. Let's start with the grounds... beautiful! They have a gorgeous outdoor courtyard with excellent artificial turf for a beautiful outdoor ceremony or cocktail hour! 5-star courtyard... the things dreams are made of!! The food was great! All courses, appetizers even the salad were a clear step above your usual "wedding food." Delicious! Extra flavorful, cooked with care and served hot. My sole was excellent and others had chicken and beef. All very pleased and surprised by the taste. The staff was excellent. The groom's parents said the wedding families were treated like royalty, even during the rehearsal dinner and other activities. The wedding I attended was outdoors and I was spellbound by the service! The reason for 4-stars is the ceiling feels low, not a bad thing but if it were a high ceiling 5-stars may have been possible. No one was bothered by the 12 foot ceiling (approximately) but just noting it. Also when we came inside for the cocktail hour the food serving area was a little jammed. But these are minor and should not deter you. Finally the groom's parents told me the price was "reasonable and fair" one last good thing to note! I came here for a BRIDAL SHOW, just wanted to clarify that first, since I only got to explore this venue for 2 hours, so can't say much about staying at the actual hotel or what an actual wedding would be like. So for the bridal show, it's very homey which I kinda expected from the name. the name goes well with the feel of this place. When I got here, I was checked in right away and greeted by a few friendly faces and then there was a table that had a name card (like you would have at a wedding) which I thought was a super cute touch. the food was all delicious that had some delicious smoked salmon, these yummy donuts, and these wonderful short ribs. They also had a hot chocolate station which was perfect because it was quite chilly outside, but I still wanted to peek outside because they have a beautiful outdoor area with a fireplace that has string lights all around. All the servers were super nice and pleasant and everything felt very well organized in terms of how the vendors were set up and it didn't feel too tight. I would've maybe appreciated maybe a more vendors, but I guess it would've been possibly too crowded if anyone else was there, so overall great experience and I was super happy for the delicious food while getting to meet some great vendors. read more

My room was large and had a comfortable bed. My room overlooked a very cute courtyard. The service I received was friendly and efficient. The free breakfast was better than most. Adjacent to the hotel was a restaurant named the Grain House which is very good also. I thought the price was a little on the higher side but I received a good value. I have been several times for brunch on holidays. There isa huge parking lot with plenty of parking. Upon walking in I was greeted and asked fro the name of the party I would be seating with. I was promptly escorted to a table. There were a lot of people but the staff seemed to be handling it well. The brunch was buffet style with carving stations and dessert stations as well. There was an omelette station and waffle station as well. A never ending supply of cocktail shrimp were present and quickly replenished. The food was good. Nothing stood out as amazing but nothing was bad either. The food was fresh and replenished quickly. All dishes had a unique taste. As a local, the Olde Mill Inn has been a landmark in my life for decades; a pristinely kept traditional building, less than a mile from both farms and bustling downtowns, as well as a major highway. But until recently, thanks to having a wedding and choosing hotel accommodations, I'd never set foot inside the front door. I got married just down the road, so the Olde Mill Inn was the perfect option to host guests based on proximity alone. But we quickly realized that it was the perfect option for so many reasons: friendly staff, cozy and spacious rooms, complimentary breakfasts, ease in scheduling a group brunch within the hotel via the Grain House Restaurant next door, the overall cleanliness (and excellent adherence to COVID-19 regulations), and much more. Planning a wedding during this pandemic was not ideal, but thanks to the lovely staff at the Olde Mill Inn, planning our hotel accommodations and post-nuptial brunch the following day was flawless! read more

The Food and waitress were excellent. The buffet was outrageously good, with top quality selections, no corners cut. However, I don't know how they get away with it,on the bottom of the check it said service charge 68.00 . We were a party of 4. If you don't read carefully you would think it's a tip. It is not. It says it's a charge to pay the service workers and you're welcome to leave a gratuity. So I asked , how much does the staff get paid I was told about 17 dollars an hour. For my family of 4, 3 drinks the check was 500 dollars. I will never attend this place again, can you imagine charging the customers to pay the staff. I looked around, the place was packed. I went to your venue this year and I was very disappointed. I had very high hopes because I saw so many 5 star reviews of the place but they could not have been more wrong. The wedding coordinator who showed us around seemed as though she was reading from a script and never once asked anything about us. We had driven over an hour to look at this place and she did not offer us to use the bathroom or any water. There was also no air conditioning in many parts of the venue so we were very faint. The lady was racing around the venue and DID NOT wait for us to catch up to her. It was very bizarre. There was a massive gap between myself/my family and her the whole time. We were trying to slow down and take pictures or just observe our surroundings but she gave us no time to do so. My step dad has a gimp in his step so he walks a little slower and she just seemed bothered like we were taking too long to walk. My mother had asked to go to the bathroom in the middle of the tour and the lady seemed very annoyed like she was being disrupted. She did not try to make small talk and gave me attitude when I asked questions. I've never been treated like this at a venue before. In the grain house, I inquired if there was an elevator available and she talked down to me like I was dumb and said "no we're historic so we don't have them". I only asked because in the main house/hotel there was an elevator so I thought it only natural to wonder but ok... Again, I think I am in shock because I expected a much different experience from everything I read online. I understand many people have had nice experiences here which is great but If I could give it zero stars just based off the tour, I would. Very upset. read more

The Olde Mill Inn was very accommodating to our small and intimate wedding. They were fairly priced for the assortment of food they gave and we thought it was a good value for our budget. The reception was in the Hunt room which has an outdoor tent option as well as an indoor cocktail room, dining room and full bar. Outside the Hunt room is a beautiful grassy area that was great for our photographer to take pictures. The wedding cake was included which was one less thing we needed to be involved with. The cake was from Calandras and we were very happy with them. We initially worked with Lindsey, a sales manager, who was very helpful and patient with our many questions. We were assigned John as Maitre d. He was also very helpful along the way and was on top of things the day of the wedding to make the day go as planned. We were very happy with this venue and would recommend them. read more

I was here recently for an event. Pros : The reception area is nice and elegant. Staff was friendly. Bathrooms in reception were clean. The main dinner course was good. Cons: cocktail hour was lacking. Lots of food but low quality. I don't recommend the seafood. Yuck. The deli meats also seemed stale like they've been sitting out from a previous event days ago. I 100% advise against sleeping here. I'd go to the event and sleep elsewhere. The rooms (even the "pure" room) was ridiculously stuffy. If you suffer from allergies, asthma or are just a stickler for temperature controls when you sleep... that's my warning. You have zero control over the temperature. Here's your option, sleep with the heat on all night long to the point the room becomes a poor ventilated sauna, or freeze. Guess it depends on when you're visiting. I was there in the dead of winter. I chose to freeze bc I thought I would suffocate if the heat turned on again. It does not have an automatic shut off. We're talking old school heat system. The event was beautiful but I woke up sick the next day and could barely sleep in those stuffy old rooms. read more

I really enjoined the brunch here we experienced for a birthday party. Thank god we had a reservation! This location is older and has a colonial feel to it. As we 1st walked in there was a section of hot chaffing dishes with eggs, sausage, bacon, fresh made waffles and French toast. There was also a roast beef and pork station. There was also a table with fresh breakfast pastries that were delicious. There was also fresh smoked salmon and ham. Outside of this room was a dessert area with many small pastries, pies, cobbler and bread pudding. Everything we had was delicious and there was plenty of it and it was hot and fresh. Stopped by here for lunch at the Grain House restaurant - they're further back from the hotel part of the property, so don't get as confused as I was. Large parking lot here. Entering, you can see wooden ceiling beams - if you're tall, that could be a problem as most of the lodge is relatively low-ceilings. Two separate dining sections that I saw, and a bar space for those here for a drink and an appetizer. With a menu that is more or less $6-12 for appetizers, and $11-17 for lunch sandwiches, it all comes down to what you want to try as opposed to price. There are specials - you have to look on the table, our waiter didn't bother telling us. Their menu indicates local and organic sourcing, so that's what justifies their prices - time to figure out what their taste is. I chose a burger (comes with a choice of cheese, lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, fries, a few onion rings, and a coleslaw salad - and you pay extra for anything else). It said 8 oz. which was a very decent 1/2 lb burger. Cooked medium well, with swiss and I had the sauteed mushrooms on top, it was a filling burger, but I didn't really get any burst of flavor like at Shake Shack or Five Guys. Something was missing for me. The service to refill water was swift, but the actual servers taking orders and checks, etc. were a bit slower, but perhaps that's a mentality of this place rather than any particular knock on the servers. I can see how people reserve this for weddings or parties, but it also feels like a country club aura and not a place the average person would go normally, it caters more to the business and older crowd from what I saw. read more

I went for a wedding this past weekend. The rooms were great make sure you don't turn the heat on. Fire alarm went off because it got to hot and it smelled like smoke. In the main entrance (lobby) it was hot and humid, stinky, muggy. The cocktail hour was nice but it was so small everyone was crapped there was no space to even walk around. I guess if the weather was nicer I believe everyone would be outside.food was a mixture of Indian, Chinese, Korean, it was okay. The reception area was just odd! If you're sitting on the side you can't see the dance floor due to 2 polls infront of you. Strange. But i do got to say the workers did great. They worked really hard! Oh dear.. On a recent business trip, I was booked at the Olde Mill Inn because the host hotel was full. My experience wasnt awful but I would never stay here again on purpose. The location is convenient to my office and the interstate. Those are pluses. There is ample free parking. They include breakfast with the stay, although I didnt partake. I was greeted warmly and all of the staff that I encountered were very polite. The place is old. Some might call it cozy or quaint and I guess so but thats not my style. I was instantly uncomfortable when I walked into the room and saw the brownish paisley comforter. Colored comforters make me think they dont laundet them so I was grossed all the way out.
