Let's start with the good news. This hotel is conveniently located about seven minutes from downtown Morristown, making it a great option for anyone attending a show at the Mayo Performing Arts Center. It has ample parking, is quite lovely, and check-in was easy and seamless. As for the room, it was lovely and comfortable, with a spacious king bed. The bathroom was also very nice, with plenty of hot water, good water pressure, and quality toiletries. Everything was clean, and the Keurig coffee maker with a selection of pods was a nice touch. Now, for the not-so-good news. The room wasn't very quiet, which was a big issue for us. There were multiple weddings happening, and wedding guests were constantly coming and going, slamming doors throughout the night. We had requested a room on a different floor, but the hotel said everything was already booked. Typically, non-wedding guests would have been placed on another floor, but due to some booking mistakes, that didn't happen. One thing to note: in addition to the room fee and taxes, you'll be asked to pay $123.9 at check-in. The $100 is a security deposit (which should be reversed after check-out, assuming everything is fine), and the remaining $23.97 is a "facility fee." This covers free parking, Wi-Fi, and morning breakfast. While the extra fee was a bit surprising--especially since the room booking mentioned "free breakfast", wifi and parking--they do provide a $20 voucher you can use on your first day at the restaurant or bar. However, we used it on an $18 BLT sandwich we ordered at the bar which had absolutely no bacon. When we mentioned our lack of sleep due to the constant noise while checking out in the morning, they did say they would refund the $23.97 facility fee, which was appreciated. Would I stay here again? Maybe, but only if I could ensure a room away from wedding parties. Otherwise, it's a beautiful hotel with potential, but be sure to double-check your room's location before booking -- unless you plan to party all night as a guest at one of the parties!

This outdated hotel has refused to return my calls. I have called three times, left messages with no response. The Wi-Fi did not work, maintaintence suggested it was a dead spot, the front desk offered to move us to a room that didn't have internet either. The shower wouldn't drain due the massive hairball. The toilet paper holder was broken. All of this was mentioned at check out and was told that a manager would be contacting me. A week later I called and left a message. - No response. I called back a week after that and left a message. Again no response.

The rooms are desperately in need of repair and newer decor. The shades are hanging from half a rod as if this were some abandoned house. For the cost of a four star hotel the amenities are less than half rate. The owners should be ashamed and grateful that they somehow still have good business. This room for this price is literally insane. For nearly $200 less the archer hotel around the corner offers, beautiful, luxurious top-of-the-line amenities not to mention stunning rooms. The oldest and certainly the most overpriced hotel in the area considering its brass tacks approach to hospitality. I stayed here several times in 2014 in 2015 and although the quality was not perfect, it has definitely slid down very far.

So we were part of a large wedding party. We stayed a total of three full days. The entire time the heat and air did not work. After two days, I called the front desk and they sent someone up and he informed us that the thermostat is not talking to the heating cooling unit. He put a sticker on the thermostat, saying not use it. The heating and cooling was not very functional. We spent three days in a damp gross room. When I asked for a discount based on our experience, they took off $28 a day for a facility fee. The room was uncomfortable and gross for three whole days. I did get a lesson and how AC works from the maintenance person and that if I would just turn on the AC, everything would not be damp and that heat makes things damp.

This is the note someone wrote on my bill. I was never given this or asked to initial it.

Hotel billed me twice for one night. Manager never called me back and front desk staff was rude when I tried to resolve. I disputed with Amex and hotel wrote a bogus note on my bill that I instructed them to put another guest, who I do not know, on my card. Did I mention the very rude desk staff and manager who does not give a shlt?

Son married in this hotel 12 years ago. Loved it then and love it now. Spent a night here this weekend after a weeklong road trip. Rooms are still very spacious but have been modernized. Immaculate and quiet considering there was wedding activity. On site steakhouse and tavern were doing a good business for a Sunday night. Two giant burgers and beer hit the spot. Plus we used the $20 voucher given us at checkin. Very friendly, prompt service. Then just a few steps back to the lobby where we enjoyed the fireplace to ourselves before heading back to our room. Included breakfast the next day was set up in the same lobby with plenty of choices and seating. Perfect hotel for a wedding or an overnight.

The hotel seemed nice when I arrived. Directions to the restaurant are confusing, as is signage, complicated by the spillover of many wedding guests in the corridors such that you had to walk through their reception with passed champagne to access the restaurant. Going in the back of the restaurant is also confusing if you don't know that both are in the same location, so it took a minute for me to figure out that I should talk to the center hostess and not wait by the more casual area. The front desk could have explained this better. They also informed me there's no housekeeping for the room but that there should be lots of extra towels. For the record, there were 2 of each type, which doesn't seem like extra, but whatever. The bartender served me because the restaurant was full, and he did a good job despite being busy. The food runner didn't really speak and brought me a room service-size ketchup bottle that was dark brown and needed to be thrown out a long time ago. The kale salad was incredibly tough; I think most places either massage it, soften it with acid, or use baby kale. The pork sandwich sauce could use more kick. I could not use my $20 coupon on night 2 as there was a dinner for the business seminar I was attending, and most of the snacks and drinks advertised at the front desk were not stocked, and the cooler was empty other than some cheesecake. The gym had no water in the cooler all weekend despite my mentioning it to the front desk staff. The emails and texts asking what could make your stay great are nice but don't necessarily happen. I replied in the email that I would like an extra blanket and a variety of pillows. No blanket, and I guess there was variety, but the pillows are terrible. Very lumpy or a giant sponge are the 2 options. The mattress is comfortable, and there is a lot of storage for clothing/luggage/toiletries. The bathroom is nicely renovated. The a/c unit is super loud, but you need it because the weddings use the bar as an after-party location; then, they hang out in the parking lot after the last call, which was right under my windows. The wedding guests also take over the public spaces and make breakfast a bad experience. They all come down at once, so you will be in line for a while while they let each other cut in, and you may have nowhere to sit, which happened to me Sunday. On Saturday, I had a place, but when I returned from the buffet, the wedding guests moved my things to the floor and took the table while I was maybe gone for 3 minutes waiting in line. The hotel should give them their own breakfast in a banquet room. Another wedding guest blocked my exit from the elevator and refused to move until I clarified that I would be happy to make him move. They left trash in the hallways all night long as they wandered around drunk. The icing on the cake was waking up on Sunday to a bug crawling around the cup I had set my toothbrush in on the bathroom counter. Where there's one, I assume there are more. I also mentioned these issues at checkout, and the agent asked if I wanted to wait for the manager to return. I had to get to my meeting, but they said they could get in touch. They didn't. Not surprised. I also sent them this review privately in their own follow-up message. No response.

Came to the Madison for a wedding and stayed there for one night! The wedding was lovely; the ceremony space was covered with florals and greenery, and it's all glass. We went outdoors for the cocktail hour then came back inside for the reception. Dessert was in a simple, small room downstairs. The wedding coordinator seemed to have it all managed and handled the entire time. We were also able to hang out by the bar and a room in the hallway afterwards for an after-party! Unfortunately, we had to empty out by 2am. Overall, it was a lovely wedding. Hotel stay was nice and simple. The theme of the hotel is early American/Victorian-style. They had breakfast til 10am, but it didn't seem that good, so my husband and I didn't touch it. It included yogurt, cereal, bagels, eggs, and jam. The front desk was friendly and gave wedding guests our bags of favors. Really cozy hotel that is a sweet space for a wedding!

It does sound like they're aware and are working on renovations, so that's good. My room, and for that matter, the public spaces as well, were clean and comfortable. However, my room was quite dated. The sliding bathroom door was kind of falling apart. The bathtub area, while clean, was definitely in need of a makeover. The TV in my room didn't work. The window in my room was so dirty, you could barely see outside. I wish they had water fillers in the common areas instead of just old water fountains. Others in my work group mentioned problems with the AC or other issues in their rooms. Anyone in the general hotel staff I came in contact with, including the front desk, were very nice. One issue with a morning waiter in the Blue Morel restaurant, but I mentioned that in that review. Also, it's really secluded from anything, so you can't easily walk anywhere from here. I wouldn't specifically avoid staying here again, but I'd probably check other options first.

The people at the desk weren't the friendliest. In fact, they seemed less than enthused about me being there. Once the check-in process was complete, I went up to my room. It seemed nice at first, but upon entry it felt like a sauna! I went out and got dinner and figured fit just needed time to cool down since it was much hotter than usual. After coming back, I noticed the temperature hadn't changed. I alerted the desk upon on my way to work out to let them know. When I got done from working out, I noticed it still hadn't changed so I asked them again and then sent someone up. He deconstructed the unit and gave me the "VIP" temperature, which unlocks it to go past 65. He said he put it at 60 and said it'll cool down in 10 mins. Now, while he was giving his spiel, he specifically said something about the hot water being off. I asked if that meant I wouldn't have hot water for my shower and he said no because they were separate units. I beg to differ. Once he left, I hopped in the shower and surprise surprise, no hot water. It wasn't even lukewarm. Not to mention, it never cooled down and I woke up sweating. I alerted them in the morning what went on and asked if I could switch rooms. The attendant said she'd award me 5,000 points for my trouble and gave me a new room. The first thing I did was check the shower to make sure the water was hot, and it was. I noticed the air felt the same as it did in my other room so I let them know on my way to breakfast. I came back and saw it hadn't changed. I told them again on my way to workout. Came back and same thing. When I went back, the attendant said the repairman closed out the ticket but she could send him back. The man came back to the room and you could tell he was pissed to be there. His tone was dismissive and after explaining what happened he said, "we fixed everything. You need to sit here for a while and you'll see." Oh ok, pal. I guess I'm a child now. I said thanks and he left. While the new room eventually got cooler, it was the principal and tone behind the matter. I wouldn't be raising a fuss if there wasn't merit behind my concern. If you're ok with mediocre service, this is the hotel for you. I won't be back. Update: 3/19/2026- I never got the points that they said they'd give me.
