Tuna Salad Sandwich

Our server seemed to be in a poor mood. Very slow all around, with barely a word uttered. I was in the service industry. I greeted everyone with a warm smile and a 'good morning.' That's the job. But she never got the message. The food was okay. The place is very clean, with a charming, hard working maitre d. Plenty of parking. But what good is it without friendly service?

Visited Old Westbury Diner for breakfast with my plus one and tried their swirl French toast. It came out in a fun circular shape, which was a nice surprise, and it was delicious! Fluffy on the inside, perfectly crisp on the edges, and was sweet. I also had eggs and bacon, both cooked perfectly. The service was fast and the food came out quickly, and the waitress was friendly. The diner was very clean, fancy and cozy place. Overall, a really good diner experience definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and want to try that famous French toast. Great spot for a tasty breakfast or brunch!

Best French toast around!

Diners are becoming few and far between on Long Island as the food service industry is evolving. But the diners that remain deserve their moment in the spotlight. One such venue is this one. There is literally something for everyone on their expansive menu, from breakfast to dinner to sandwiches to apps or dessert. I highly recommend their French toast. Superb! Two huge slices of bread eight a perfect coating, sprinkled with powdered sugar and accompanied by fresh butter and syrup. Opt for the deluxe and finger eggs, bacon, ham, and sausage. I've also gotten takeout from them while visiting someone in a nearby hospital. The turkey club is the best around, easily shareable or save leftovers for the next day. Highly recommend!

Great diner . Very nice interior. Fast service. Plenty of parking . Enjoyed my cheeseburger! Wife had lamb chops which came either salad and two vegetables, was good!

Fried chicken

Large venue, well lit and clean with both tables and booths. Large parking lot and a ramp into the diner as well as the restrooms so it is handicapped accessible. It has a large menu to choose from but the food was subpar. The fried chicken basket was tough, tasteless and greasy. The Greek salad was good but the chicken was dry. It is a little off the beaten path so I won't be returning.

Creepy decapitated armless legless santa decoration.

We stopped in for breakfast this morning. We beat the lunch crowd and were seated right away. Our food was excellent; unfortunately, the service was lackluster. Maybe our server was having a bad day. We will be back.

I'm not sure why this place doesn't have 5 stars. My family and friends have been going there for years! We always have a great meal. We usually go for breakfast and it is always delicious! The service sometimes can be a bit slow but overall great place for a nice comfort meal! Highly recommend. I rather have brunch here than at a "trendy" restaurant in the city. But that's just me:)

Diner atmosphere. Great food. Service feels a bit lethargic unfortunately. Kinda struggled to get and pay my bill.

The one thing I love about using the Yelp app to discover hidden gems is that you never know where…read moreit will take you. That being said, on September 23rd I was in search of something new and exciting and I was guided to Thomas's Ham & Eatery. I have passed Thomas's Ham & Eatery over a dozen times, and thought that the parking lot was rather small so I just kept it moving. Driving into the confined area, I found parking immediately with room to spare. Stepping inside of Thomas's Ham & Eater, a wave of happiness hit me--bright, sudden, and uplifting, like the effervescence from a freshly popped bottle of champagne. The happy atmosphere of the dining area was so contagious I immediately followed suit and put on a happy face. Looking around the restaurant and soaking it all in , I saw tons of people enjoying their meal while listening to groovy sounds such as; The Eagles - Peaceful Easy feeling, Bonnie Tyler- Total Eclipse of my heart, and so much more, but I got overly excited when Elton John & Kiki Dee's- Don't Go Breaking My Heart came on. I was in full sing along mode as I was seated. Now, I would love to talk about the food and service. The restaurant was clean and tables were freshly wiped. My waitress provided impeccable service as she stayed in catering mode. She supplied everything that I needed with kindness and passion. She was very patient and did not mind coming back to see when I was actually ready to order after looking over the menu. I went totally off the grid and ordered Cajun Omelette. It consisted of Louisiana Andouille Sausage (LAS), Tomato, Scallions & Green Peppers, and served with Home Fries & Toast- $16.45. Despite the small amount of LAS, the omelette was a grand slam. I really enjoyed it, the home fries had a few peppers and onions and just enough burn to let you know that they were not entirely overcooked but you will have that crunch. I did ask for lite butter on the rye toast, instead I received enough butter to lubricate bicycle gears, I scrapped it off and kept it moving, no harm no foul, keeping a positive vibe. The coffee was just as good and I really enjoyed it as well. I give Thomas's Ham & Eatery 3 1/2 stars but the atmosphere and tone boosts it up to 5 stars, I will definitely be returning for another HAPPY MEAL! Inspire more, Yelp more!

There is a particular kind of restaurant that understands its job is not to dazzle you into silence…read morebut to make conversation easier. The Shed, on Merrick Avenue, is that kind of place. The dining room is anchored by an olive tree that rises improbably from the center of the floor, its branches catching the light from a constellation of milk-glass globes. Along the bar, bottles glow against whitewashed brick, and the marble counter is set with striped linen napkins. The effect is part farmhouse and part supper club, and it is more inviting than either would be on its own. The menu favors familiar dishes executed with care. A glazed salmon arrives lacquered and deeply caramelized at the edges, resting on wilted spinach and a bright hash of corn, peas, and shallot, all bound by a butter sauce worth chasing with a fork. The fish sandwich is a study in restraint: a well-seasoned, pan-crisped fillet, a soft brioche bun, and a tangle of slaw, with a plump pickle and coleslaw alongside, as tradition demands. Dessert is where The Shed allows itself some indulgence. A dense, fudgy brownie, dusted with powdered sugar and set beside a scoop of vanilla ice cream melting into chocolate sauce, recalls childhood without apology. Notably, the restaurant takes its non-alcoholic drinks seriously. The mocktail list is broad and thoughtful, a welcome gesture of hospitality toward diners who would rather skip the spirits without skipping the fun. Service, led on this evening by a warm and unhurried server, matched the room. Tables linger here, and no one seems to mind. The Shed isn't trying to reinvent anything. It simply does the familiar things well, in a room that makes you want to stay for another round of dessert and another hour of talk.

WARNING: Extremely disappointing and potentially unsafe experience…read more I rarely leave reviews like this, but people need to be aware of what I experienced at this deli. I bought the cocktail shrimp ($12 for half a pound) and was shocked. The shrimp had a greenish discoloration on the sides, was extremely stringy, and had an off smell. It did NOT look or taste fresh and honestly raised serious concerns about quality and storage. When bringing it to the attention of the cashier she replied "Ella no quiere". Bringing it to another person attention "what happened" Ella no quiere again. It's not that I don't want it. It was disgusting they were selling green shrimp. The gentleman at the counter was very sweet, but even if he gave me a fresh one, it would've been from the same green, stringy batch regardless. They should absolutely not be serving this especially on the Fourth of July. I also tried the lobster salad ($22 for a small half pound), which was basically mayonnaise with corn and celery and only a few tiny pieces of lobster. nowhere near worth the price. The chicken salad ($12.99) was even worse. It was oily, unappetizing, and looked like it had been sitting out for a long time. Easily the worst chicken salad I've ever had. Look at that oil! Overall, everything I purchased felt low quality and questionable in freshness. I was genuinely disgusted and surprised a place like this would sell products in this condition. I would strongly caution others before buying seafood or prepared foods here. I will not be returning.
