WARNING: Extremely disappointing and potentially unsafe experience. I rarely leave reviews like this, but people need to be aware of what I experienced at this deli. I bought the cocktail shrimp ($12 for half a pound) and was shocked. The shrimp had a greenish discoloration on the sides, was extremely stringy, and had an off smell. It did NOT look or taste fresh and honestly raised serious concerns about quality and storage. When bringing it to the attention of the cashier she replied "Ella no quiere". Bringing it to another person attention "what happened" Ella no quiere again. It's not that I don't want it. It was disgusting they were selling green shrimp. The gentleman at the counter was very sweet, but even if he gave me a fresh one, it would've been from the same green, stringy batch regardless. They should absolutely not be serving this especially on the Fourth of July. I also tried the lobster salad ($22 for a small half pound), which was basically mayonnaise with corn and celery and only a few tiny pieces of lobster. nowhere near worth the price. The chicken salad ($12.99) was even worse. It was oily, unappetizing, and looked like it had been sitting out for a long time. Easily the worst chicken salad I've ever had. Look at that oil! Overall, everything I purchased felt low quality and questionable in freshness. I was genuinely disgusted and surprised a place like this would sell products in this condition. I would strongly caution others before buying seafood or prepared foods here. I will not be returning. read more

There are many sections to this market, from pizzas, salad bar, bakery, coffee section, etc. I wanted something to wake myself up & was going to originally get an iced latte. Then I saw the banana split iced coffee and had to try that, so I got a large. Next to the cash register was banana bread, so I got that to go with the iced coffee. I've always heard this place was expensive, but for the size of the iced coffee and the banana bread it only came out to $11.19 which I think was a steal. Looking for something healthy? They have a salad and juice bar and over in the corner is the pizza station. Also, breakfast options available at the griddle! Finally, take your pick of some hot prepared dishes if you're looking for something heartier. This time I grabbed a sandwich called the Gay Paris. It had ham, Brie, and tomato with a Dijon spread. I requested no tomato because sometimes that makes the sandwich really soggy and gross. The counter didn't have baguettes so I requested ciabatta bread. I wasn't mad about it, but I think this sandwich does belong more on a baguette. There was a lot of the sandwich and usually that's not a problem but in this case, I just wanted something on the lighter side. Peppered around the store or treats, snacks, side salads, an assortment of beverages, pretty much anything you could crave. I snagged a bag of chips, an iced tea, and after paying for everything with the receipt of what I ordered at the sandwich counter, I made my way to the small dining area to eat quickly. Yes, a small dining area of about eight tables. You are asked if you want your food to stay to go, but I got mine to go because I wasn't sure how long I would stay. If you're looking for a quiet place, this isn't it, but it is a good place for a pitstop if needed. Right off the expressway, but don't park and ride here because you will be towed. I have been coming to this establishment for well over 20 years. While I realize they are overpriced the quality has always been on par or above (just pricey!!). Today that sentiment went out the window forever! I called earlier to ask if they still had this lemon/coconut cake my partner ordered last time he was in NY. They said yes and would put one aside for us, my mom loved it last time and we wanted to bring her one today. As we arrive and walk in the door, first myself then Miro behind me. Miro stops to read the headlines on the paper. The gentleman at the pizza counter in a loud stern voice tells him leave that alone and don't touch anything and don't move from there..... I heard that but assumed he was talking to someone else. So I make my way around to look at a few items and realize he is no longer with me. I go back to find him still standing at the front of the store upset, perplexed and angry! I inquire why he is not moving he proceeds to tell me what happened. Not only did the worker at the pizza counter scold him. A man whom I can only think was the owner did as well, with an even stronger tone. So I tell him that is crazy come with me. As we go to pick up the cake this gentlemen (the owner) comes to speak to us and attempt to explain what happened, never actually apologizing of course. They thought Miro for whatever reason was an Uber drive picking up and order. Apparently they have issues with them grabbing wrong orders and taking them, I guess. This of course costs them extra money eating in to their hefty profits for that 14.00 breakfast sandwich!! He thought explaining himself but not apologizing would make everything okay, wrong. Also no discount on the cake, lol. The more I thought of this whole encounter the angrier I became. Even if I/Miro were the Uber driver that is no way to talk to anyone period. If you are having issues with picking up wrong orders, don't leave them out there!! In addition to assume he is UBER driver or anything else because of his beard and the tone of his skin is a little racist. Miro is actually Brazilian.. not whatever race they thought! This sort of profiling just fuels the divisiveness, bigotry and hate occurring every day in our country, nice job Management! The reason I chose to right this review is as I am leaving, having paid for the cake (fool that I was) the owner is talking to the pizza counter gentlemen pointing to where Miro was and at me and laughing about it......nice... At that point I turned to the woman (also an owner I believe as I have seen her there for years) told her what they were doing she had no comment of course. They're cooking the chicken cutlets in bulk. I'm a chicken cutlet snob. Some spots will undercook their cutlets and the breading will get mushy after sitting for a few hours. Places like this make me very nervous because of sensory overload. My son-in-law warned me before going in that it was going to be a lot for me to see, and he wasn't wrong. I love places like this. Everything looked incredibly well made, very colorful, lots of choices. I mean, it was INCREDIBLE, almost TOO MUCH in the way of choices, and I was so nervous I wouldn't be able to make up my mind... and the pressure was on for me to make up my mind and in a short amount of time. My daughter says I'm not good with that, and I had her in my head, "MOM, HURRY UP. YOU'RE SO SLOW." Sigh. Luckily, she was outside on a business call and not in the store with me, but yeah, she was still in my head. Anyway, I did manage to order a Maxwell Special sandwich in a short amount of time, which was not only delicious, but it was made perfectly without my having to ask for extra this, or add more of that. They did it perfectly... pastrami, turkey, cole slaw with Russian dressing. Man, was it good. Actually, downright DELICIOUS !! I could only eat half of the sandwich, it was so much. I still would have liked to walk more slowly through the store and be able to take more photos without rushing. Everything was so photographable and delectable looking. I probably would have ordered some things to try from other parts of the store, too, like their bakery... but I didn't. Just the sandwich. NEXT time, I'll go with my husband, who won't push me to walk through so quickly. Unfortunately, he had already gone home to CA, so he didn't get to see this place or try its food. Used to love coming here but the prices have become outrageous and their hours are wrong. Apple maps said they close at 9 - we got there at 7:50 and their stations were all shut down and their lights were almost all turned off. They said we can only get prepackaged items. When I pointed out the incorrect time - not to complain that we weren't being served but to let them know that it should be updated - the manager started arguing with me that it's wrong and they close at 8. Let me start with saying that I may be overly critical due to my history in the restaurant business both cooking and owning. Decided to stop by on they way out east on a recommendation. Found the place overwhelming, disorganized and dirty. Everything is piled on top of each other. The food on display in the refrigerated showcases was just volumes of food in very commercial looking sauces and did not look very appetizing. This establishment should follow the credo of less is more and give it some more eye appeal. I'm sure that if they reduced their selections by 20% and cleaned the place up both visually (organized better) and cleanliness it would both look better, be more profitable and allow them to make better looking and tasting food. I tasted a few things and they were okay and ended up having a hamburger that came with a salad and both were good but the place did not entice me to come back. Keep in mind that I love to cook, shop for food and find new places to find interesting items and willin to travel to do so. I drive 20 miles to get my fish and 30 miles together my roast beef. This place could take a few lessons from food establishments such as Citarella as far as organizing and food layout. They pack it in but in a much more appealing manner. The service was average. Felt more like supermarket service than a higher end food service place. In closing the food I ate was okay, the place was unpleasantly overwhelming and the prepared food was not particularly appealing. Not a place I would go out of my way to return to. Pizza snob here....my job takes me all over the place so, as is my nature, I figured I'd try a slice at a more upscale deli/market in a suitably upscale neighborhood. Passed this place a hundred times and noticed they had a pizza corner inside so I figured I'd try a slice. The regular slice was pretty good, not great but worthy of a thumbs up. The meatball slice was excellent though...the sauce was not too sweet and the meatball was actually meaty, not a ton of breadcrumbs, which is common. I have been going here for many years and this review is in regard to a terrible recent experience. We had a birthday celebration and decided to place a custom order for a tray of wraps. I went in the day before and spent time organizing the order with them. We picked up the tray of wraps the next day and they were terrible. Wet and soggy, haphazardly prepared. The wraps were not rolled correctly, the ends of the wraps were not closed and everything fell out when you tried to eat it. It was as if whoever prepared them had literally zero idea how to prepare a wrap. The wraps themselves were soggy and wet, totally ruined. Seemed like they had been made the day before and left to sit overnight. All the more frustrating bc they charge ridiculous prices for their food. Based on the above, I wouldn't even typically leave a negative review. It's what happened next. We called to let them know about the poor experience, expecting they'd extend some sort of customer service (as mostly any normal quality establishment would). We got the owner on the phone and he was defensive, rude and dismissive. He told us that he's been in business for "35 years" and that we had no right to complain about the order. He proceeded to hang up on us. I was shocked. Beyond rude and just shows how the basic idea of customer service gets more and more lost amongst so many. It's a one stop shop , you can get anything your heart desires , coffee, smoothies, gourmet home made food, sandwiches, pizza , desserts , protein shakes .. you name it ! Today, I picked up their Milano sandwich, shrimp corn chowder soup, and some cookies. For the money I could of just taken myself to a restaurant and ordered in. The sandwich was ok but I wouldn't get it again. I felt like the focaccia bread was lacking, and the sandwich itself needed more flavor in general. The soup was pretty good. Wish I ordered just that in a large lol but next time I'll know. Haven't tried the cookies yet. Figured later or tomorrow. I was really happy they had mini b&w cookies. Overall not a bad spot. This is like a perfect one stop shop/cafeteria! Got an acai bowl from one of the counters. As toppings it came with banana, strawberry, coconut flakes, granola and honey. I added peanut butter and chocolate chips. A little watery but still tasty! It was about $12 which I think is normal for the area. Also inside they have a deli set up with all different salads and warm food, also has sushi, pizza, sandwiches, snacks, fresh iced teas & coffees, and so much more.
