I stopped by Old Town Donuts in Cottleville to grab a dozen yeast donut holes on my way to Parent Coffee at my daughter's school, and as always, they did not disappoint! The line was quick, and I was in and out in about five minutes. Now, on weekends, the line can wrap all the way around the little sitting area because they're THAT busy--and rightfully so because these donuts are delicious! If you need three dozen or more, you can call ahead and they'll have your order ready when you walk in. You just have to stop at the counter to pay, which makes picking up a larger order really easy. This location has a special place in my heart because I remember when they opened in Cottleville back in 2012. I actually watched the Coming Soon banner in front of the store when I drove by to work while I was pregnant. When I went on maternity leave, I would take my brand-new baby there, then sit in the car with her and eat my donut and drink my chocolate milk. It was our little outing together. When I returned to work, I would sometimes treat myself to an Old Fashioned donut on Fridays, and sometimes even the flavor of the day. I don't think they do that any more and I really miss the flavor-of-the-day donuts! One of my favorites was the peanut butter flavor. I've watched this location grow over the years and add more drinks and other options, but one thing has never changed: the donuts are still delicious. Some of the staff members have even been here since the beginning, which adds to that feeling of familiarity and belonging whenever I stop in. Friendly staff, delicious donuts, affordable prices, and a little bit of nostalgia make this one of my favorite places to start the day. We got these doughnuts at a wentzville gas station as we heard they were top rated in America. I had to try them just to make sure that America was right, of course. When they came out with this list of the top donut shops in America on Yelp, I made sure to bookmark Old Town Donuts. My wife was driving home from Atlanta today And stopped and picked us up a dozen. I was able to find a coupon on their website and texted it to her. They were nice enough to accept it. I've had a couple donuts today and I would agree that these are the best donuts I've ever had. I've had all the best donuts in Kansas City, Las Vegas, and a few in Los Angeles, including Randy's Donuts. Old Town Donuts is better. These are very special. I've lived in St. Louis for years and can't believe it took me this long to finally try Old Town Donuts. These donuts truly hit different. I stopped by the Cottleville location before 6 AM and it was already buzzing with regulars and early birds. The staff greeted me with such genuine friendliness--it's the kind of customer service that makes you feel like they're happy you stopped in. I grabbed a half dozen and some donut holes, and everything was fresh, warm, and just right. The chocolate sprinkle (my forever favorite) was perfect, but I have to say the donut holes were a little bite of magic--soft, sweet, and impossible to stop eating. Delicious fresh or sitting out in the box for a couple hours lol Ordered a couple French crullers, a chocolate long John, and a cinnamon donut. There was no icing on the French (usually opt for icing) but didn't matter because it was still sooo good. It was moist but also flaky. You could definitely tell they were super fresh. The chocolate on the long John was the perfect amount. There wasn't too much or too little. There was no shine on it that made it look like it was made with a ton of additives or preservatives like almost fake. It was delicious and they were both so airy so we didn't feel disgusted with ourselves afterwards if you know what I mean lol Service was fast even though there was definitely a crowd. I stopped in to grab a donut or 6 since I was craving. I walked in and immediately felt so nostalgic: it smells just like my favorite bakery from my childhood. I was immediately greeted upon entry, even though the 3 workers were extremely busy. I guess they were in the middle of a project and were moving supplies around the shop. Can we just talk about how incredible this place smells! As soon as you walk in your stomach starts to growl!! All the employees are so friendly, and I love the clear case with all the assorted donuts so you can see exactly what you're getting as well as descriptions on them as well. The staff even lets you tell them exactly which doughnut you want if you find one looks better than another or you just really want the biggest of the bunch! I bought three donuts late this morning, two chocolate long johns and one jelly donut. When I got home, one of the long johns was greasy from the oil it is cooked in, neither had much chocolate, like they put it on with a paint brush. This evening I had the jelly donut, it also was greasy from the oil used to cook them in. Soooo disappointed at the St Peters location. I usually go to the Florissant location once a week; I buy two dozen for staff. But on New Year's Day 2002, I decided to go to St Peters on Mid Rivers. First person in the door at 5am, shelves were full of donuts, at least five customers at open and I am ready to order. My favorite is old-fashioned. Crunchy on the outside, sweet, soft, moist on the inside. They had NONE! They were out. I could not believe It. Then, the donuts in general were not as sweet as the Florissant location. Glazed twists, blueberry, glazed donuts. Decent, but not the Old Town standard I am used to even at the St Peters location which I have been to several times over the last 5 years.
