The chop suey donut was amazing! Also got a Dutch crumb and fried croissant which were delicious. The lemon filled donut could have used more filling, and the cake donut was pretty dry. Stopped in on Thursday to grab a "thank you" dozen for clinical staff I have been working with since January. Asked for "random" and they were able to grab donuts that made up an eclectic assortment that everyone enjoyed. They were fresh and they could tell they came from a donut shop and not a franchise. Boxes are stacked up, the cases are full, and lots of counter help made things rapid fire and quite exciting. You can order ahead and have things ready for pick up. Donut King is an old fashioned spot that covers the standard donut varieties. My glazed was perfect. At Donut King there's no maple glazed pineapple tutti frutti with bacon sprinkles. And that's alright. The glazed was tall, fluffy, sugary goodness and surely as unhealthy as a donut can be. I'll be back to try other varieties. read more

Plain and simple these are the best donuts I've ever had, it's always a debate in my head if the glazed are the best or is it the buttermilk? That's the eternal question. I really have mixed feelings on this one. On one hand they're the donut shop that I go to most frequent but on the other I'm never totally satisfied. There's not a ton of option in old town for donuts so donut king definitely fills the void but that's about the extent of it. Their long johns are good but not great, glazed donuts are so-so, cake donuts are pretty decent and their cinnamon twists/knots are underwhelming. One thing I will give them credit for is their chopsuey is both unique and tasty. Honestly, even at 3 stars I'll probably continue to go back until someone else comes in that really kills it in the donut world. read more

Stopped in this am as I was driving through St Charles and glad I did. I had the chopped suey (apple fritter sans apple) and it was terrific. Mine was pretty fresh from the fryer so not sure what it is like all the time, but this was warm, soft, and pillowie like a fresh roll from the oven. Sooo good. The definition of the small community local donut shop that focuses on quality over quantity. My wife and I live our Saturday morning walks to the Donut-King, and everything we've had from there has been outstanding. My favorite has to be the Blueberry donut, it is only available on the weekends just FYI, but their traditional glazed donuts are just as good. I love donuts either way but this one was fantastic! Donut was soft and chewy, I got a cream filled which was marshmallow and that made me so happy! The chocolate on top was amazing as well.
