I have found the most amazing apple fritter on earth. It is doughy inside, crispy on the outside, and well spiced. And it's HUGE. So huge that I, a lover of all desserts and especially fritters, could not even finish half of it in one sitting. I've had probably 20 different Apple fritters in St. Louis. This is it. When you try to explain where the second location of the Donut Palace is, it is a little difficult. There is a sign on the front but the entrance is in the back. One side is Jimmy John's. With the back being Donut Palace. The parking lot is large. The windows were tinted with two doors that had open signs, we weren't sure which one to go in and chose the one on the left. It could get really awkward with two customers walking in from each door at the same time. The left side door felt a little further away from the counter. Inside was super clean and had a cute area for eating in. New location growing pains with the staff not knowing what some of the donuts were. Seemed like the operation was the people behind the counter helped and then a guy at the register rang up. It was fine but felt lackluster. After we made our selection of a dozen with one of those being the massive Apple fritter. The total for the dozen was $28 and seemed excessive even with the massive fritter. Glad to get to try these donuts! We came too late one day and they were already sold out. Came back a few days later and got to enjoy them! The layout is pretty simple and there will probably be a line, so just follow the others to place your order. The glass cases help you pick, but little name tags or numbers on the different types might help speed up the process, otherwise it ends up being a lot of pointing to what you want. I was surprised to see that they don't refill the donuts. They wait until til you order them, which must help avoid waste and probably makes them taste better. We tried the giant frosted cinnamon roll, m&m covered one, maple bacon and a dipped old fashioned. All tasted fresh and were very yummy! Great place to bring kids and I'm looking forward to picking up a box on my way i to the office soon. read more

I'd been driving by this building for weeks and kept forgetting to check out their opening date. I finally remembered, and saw that they just opened. Keep in mind that my review is for day 2 of them being open. The interior is still pretty bare bones, and I was the only customer at 7:45am on a Thursday. It's your usual array of donuts - some cake donuts, glazed and powdered yeast donuts, long johns, etc. The one unique thing was that with the filled donut, they put in the filling when I ordered, rather than just having a variety prefilled and then running out of the most popular one. Obviously with it being a coffee place, you're still going to want to stop by early. Convenient location off Lindbergh, away from the spots that usually see backed up. It's just next to the Jimmy John's. As for quality, I mean, they're donuts. It's pretty hard to mess up. But the ones I picked up seemed pretty fresh. Would recommend checking them out read more

In a city full of donut stands, this one is by far our favorite. Incredible selection in a clean, well lighted store. Not a "hipster foodie" shop but still offers some unique varieties. Multiple workers keep the line moving, even as people get mesmerized by the mouth watering array of varieties, including donuts filled with your choice of ingredients while you wait!! (Your wait isn't long, and it's done while you watch). Prices are reasonable and service is friendly and efficient. I love donuts and I love this place! read more

I finally arrived early enough to get an apple fritter. I was excited about it until I went to check out. I won't be getting apple fritters again due the cost. There are lots of other choices available. The place is clean and bright. The parking lot is very convenient. If you don't get there early in the day, chances are good that they'll be out of the popular donuts. Maybe they can consider a punch card, buy 12, get one free, but until then, these donuts are too expensive for my budget. read more

I live near the Ellisville Donut Palace so I knew what to expect here. I stopped in on a weekday morning to pick up donuts for work. It's worthy of going up against a South City Donut place. It was not even 9am but they were pretty bought out. I got a mixed dozen. Everyone at work was happy with my selection. The donuts are a little larger than average. Stopped in for donuts on a Saturday, it was busy but moved quickly. I originally thought the drive thru was for the donut place, but quickly realized that was jimmy john's. There was a long table if you wanted to sit inside and have your donut. But otherwise it's a 'take it to go' set up. Lots of selection, the donut holes had a yummy vanilla flavor. We couldn't find the entrance, it was sunny and the only sign was a dark font on the door. We had no idea which door to go in. They didn't have many selection of donuts and then they just weren't good. Were used to donut drive in and donut stop where the donuts are amazing and consistent. The guy at the counter checking us out was just not friendly. To top it off, our dozen donuts were $28!!!!! We did get an Apple fritter, that could have added to the total, but WOW. read more

Usually enjoy the donuts, but the service is always disappointing. The older lady (I'm assuming the manager) is always impatient and rushes my order, even when the store is empty. I went by to grab some donuts recently, and the manager took the customer behind me while I told my partner which flavors I was getting. And then the customer took the last donut that I came all the way there for! What kind of manager takes the second in line's order first? Really annoying to say the least. read more

Hands down best tasting donuts I've had in stl. I grew up near the ellisville location and have been going since the 90s when it was just a small shop. They've since expanded that location AND opened another location on Lindbergh. The new location is just as good as the original with friendly staff, fresh donuts made every day, and even have empty shells that they fill to order so you can customize your shell/filling! With great products comes great demand! The earlier you can get there, the better selection you have. They don't mass produce donuts to reduce waste at the end of the day which ensures they can minimize losses and continue to make quality donuts! The Apple fritter, blueberry cake, and bacon/caramel donuts all MUST BE tried! However all donuts are sure to please. Keep it up Donut Palace! My order: Apple fritter, 2 blueberry cake, 3 bacon/caramel, 2 powder sugar shells (1 lemon filled, 1 chocolate fluff filled). Total cost: $20+tip Some say expensive...I disagree. Best doughnuts! Get up at 6 AM to get the best selection. They sell out midmorning for a reason. Their donuts are that good and they have the best apple fritter I have ever eaten! Their jelly doughnuts have the good jelly, not the clear gel that you get at other places. Amazing! Everything we have tried has been delicious! For the best section, you need to get there early. The staff was great and friendly. Pretty pricy here. The donuts were just okay, but all of them were room temp to cold. I get the impression they are fried at night and ready for the morning or fried and ready before the doors open because they just don't have that warmness that the best donuts have. Today was my fourth visit to a new donut shop in Sunset Hills. I arrived at 7:30 am on a Thursday, hoping after my fourth attempt, to get an old fashioned donut (they were out on my previous visits). Unfortunately, they were out again, so I bought a chocolate cake donut and a small coffee. I do not know what the price of an individual donut is, nor the price of the coffee, but the cost was $4.60 for the small coffee and donut. While this seems to be fairly high price to me, the disappointing part was after I left and took a sip of my coffee it was lukewarm. I hope they do well in their new location, but I will probably take my business elsewhere for my coffee and donut. read more

Food was great as was the service. I had the 2 egg breakfast with bacon & hash browns which were perfectly cooked . The 3 strips of bacon were out of this world good. They were huge fat pieces and terrific. We went early (8:15 am) and didn't have to wait very long. read more
