If you're in St. Louis, Donut Drive-In is one of those classic local spots you absolutely have to try. Their donuts are always fresh, delicious, and the perfect way to start the day. Yesterday, my family and I kicked off the weekend the right way with our favorite sweet treat from one of our favorite donut shops. Every visit reminds us why we keep coming back. The donuts are consistently great, and there's something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you're a St. Louis local or just passing through, make sure to stop by and grab a few donuts for the family--or just for yourself. You won't be disappointed! Highly recommended. read more

Great stop while in St Louis. Sought out old school raised donuts. It doesn't get any more authentic. I grabbed a raised sugar and it was light and puffy and the right amount of granulated sugar. A must stop. read more

Donut Drive In has been on my bucket list for ages, and it definitely lived up to the hype. I came by with a friend around 10:30 on a weekday night, and even then, the place was buzzing. There was a small line of about three or four people, but it moved quickly. It's a mix of newcomers and regulars. Plus, they stay open late! The staff there are kinda hilarious. Their sense of humor really makes the small wait not so bad. It is a tiny shop, but it works. You can see them baking fresh batches around the clock, and they have a glass case where you can pick out your donuts. You can get a quick bag or a full box, the prices are super affordable. As for the donuts, they were delicious and so moist. I even saved a few for the next day, and they were still fresh. I get why the locals are coming back to this spot. I will definitely be back. read more

Donut Drive-In is a delicious spot in South City serving only the finest donuts in the area. It's a classic, similar in popularity to Ted Drewe's and other dessert spots in the area. They deserve all the attention possible! Much better than Dunkin and LOCALLY OWNED :) read more

They have a small private parking lot. No drive thru, but a drive in to physically go inside and order. I was greeted at the counter. It's tiny inside. They have cased donuts and ones on racks behind the counter. The cinnamon donut was good but unexpectedly cold. Nice establishment. Give it a try, can't really mess up a donut as a donut shop. I'd try glaze next time. read more

Some reasons that Donut Drive-in is in my top 3: 1. Great flavor and moisture! unlike some more popular and trendy donuts spots around, they don't skip this step of making a simple but flavorful dough that you could eat on its own. I love adding a "naked" in unglazed plain donut to my mix as my pallet cleanser in between flavors. 2. Simplicity- they have some fun flavors but make sure to keep the originals flavorful and consistent. I'd take these over a strange donut any day. 3. Hours - they're open early and late. 4. Kind Staff = Kind customers. It's a super small space and could easily get stuffy or be a drag the staff is always nice and in term, the customers are always kind. It has a classic energy that is infectious. every time I go there , customers are also kind patient and courteous It's not over the top. It's not scripted like Chick-fil-A or something like that. Favorites: Chocolate Longjohn, Apple Fritter, plain no glaze, Apple Fritter! read more

I am visiting family from St. Louis but always wanted to try this donut spot! I saw it off an STL food account and this donut shop has been in business over 50 years! We decided to go early on a Sunday morning- around 8am and even then the parking lot was completely full! There was a line out of the door, however it moves quickly. I am glad I looked online to get a sense of what they had because inside was madness. It's super super small- and there are typically 3-4 employees helping at one time. I really couldn't even see the donut case because others were standing in front of it. I picked a random assortment- a Chocolate Long John, Marble Iced Yeast ring, Glazed jelly filled, Sugar Jelly filled, Chocolate iced Custard, Chocolate Iced Cake and Sprinkle Chocolate Iced Cake. They have a ton of options, but they are all classics. Nothing fancy and I appreciate that. The donuts were all very very good. I really liked that the ones filled were actually filled- not half dough. It was hard to pick but I do think I preferred the yeast ones over the cake. But seriously you can't go wrong. I am already planning another trip back!!! Overall experience 5/5 read more

Oh my goodness! When I tell you these are easily some of the best donuts I've had! I seen this location randomly one day on TikTok and had to try it out. The bakery is small but that's to be expected, as it is called a drive-in. They do have cute spots outside where you can sit, relax and enjoy your donuts. When you first walk in, you're immediately greeted and helped with. The gentleman at the counter helped my boyfriend and I decide on what to pick out. Letting us know that their glazed donuts are the freshest. The staff are very polite, patient, and cheerfully helpful. We couldn't decide, so we bought a variety! These were my favorite; The red velvet donuts were so soft and delicious, The glazed donuts were just like the worker said (fresh) and so perfectly made, and the vanilla sprinkled donut and just perfect! I definitely recommend this donut bakery! The price of the count of donuts isn't bad, and it's so much more worth coming here rather than simply going to Krispy Kreme. The donuts here are far more fresh and delicious! read more

A classic donut shop! These are probably some of the best donuts I've had in STL. The shop is super tiny for customers, so expect to get in and get out. If you are allergic to nuts DO NOT come here. They have false advertisement or maybe they're just ignorant. I have severe peanut and tree nut allergies so finding nut-free donut shops are very hard to come by. On their website's FAQ section they clearly state that their facility is a nut-free facility as of 2025. My excitement was through the roof! However, when I got there I saw multiple donuts with nuts on top next to all of the other "nut-free" donuts. When I asked the guy at the counter he said "everything is nut free except..." If they're going to say on their website that they are a nut-free facility that means nothing in their kitchen should have nuts. No cross contamination, no nuts, no exceptions. Otherwise it's a liability and a bold faced lie. read more

Unfortunately no where near the same experience as we've had here in the past. Today, although we were the only customers, we felt extremely rushed by the not-so-friendly lady at the counter...and truthfully as a result we didn't buy as many as we'd planned. Plus, the options available in the case were minimal. As far as taste goes, the chocolate long Johns were still pretty good, but the other donuts (esp the red velvet cakes) just weren't very good. Bummer. read more

Growing up it was a really big deal to get donuts on the weekends. We would always get them when I stayed over at my grandparents. As a result I still have a soft soft for donuts. Getting them is an event, and something fun that I do with my kids. I've been to a LOT of different places in St. Louis. Schnucks bakery is great if you just need quick, cheap donuts. Sometimes though you just want a step up from that. Without a doubt Donut Drive-In has been the best all around donut shop that I've been to. Prices are reasonable, donuts are huge and good, and the selection is varied. If you aren't picky you can get a premade dozen that will have a lot of the basic favorites (glazed, long johns etc.) . I'm partial to old fashioned donuts so I also go in and hand pick my donuts. There can be a line, but it moves quickly and I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes. As a bonus Donut Drive-In has very long hours. Although myself I'm a morning donut purist, the fact that you can stop in later at night to scratch that itch is just one more thing that sets Donut Drive-In apart from many other shops in town. read more

What donut shop can you go to late night in STL? This one! Donuts are made fresh. I can rave about the donuts all day but I'm really here to write about their coffee. This place has the best tasting coffee and I enjoy my coffee plain black so I can taste the quality. Skip the social coffee house when you just want a plain dark roast. In case you are wondering, the service is always excellent. read more

I've been here a couple times and love it! It is open for super long hours which is so convenient! It also doesn't seem to matter when you go as the donuts I have gotten have always tasted very fresh and have a very nice texture to them! I have not had a donut yet from this place that was not 10/10. They do a fantastic job. I am amazed by the hours that they hold which allows you the chance to get donuts for the next day.
