Donut Drive In has been on my bucket list for ages, and it definitely lived up to the hype. I came by with a friend around 10:30 on a weekday night, and even then, the place was buzzing. There was a small line of about three or four people, but it moved quickly. It's a mix of newcomers and regulars. Plus, they stay open late! The staff there are kinda hilarious. Their sense of humor really makes the small wait not so bad. It is a tiny shop, but it works. You can see them baking fresh batches around the clock, and they have a glass case where you can pick out your donuts. You can get a quick bag or a full box, the prices are super affordable. As for the donuts, they were delicious and so moist. I even saved a few for the next day, and they were still fresh. I get why the locals are coming back to this spot. Great flavor and moisture! unlike some more popular and trendy donuts spots around, they don't skip this step of making a simple but flavorful dough that you could eat on its own. I love adding a "naked" in unglazed plain donut to my mix as my pallet cleanser in between flavors. 2. Simplicity- they have some fun flavors but make sure to keep the originals flavorful and consistent. I'd take these over a strange donut any day. 3. Hours - they're open early and late. 4. Kind Staff = Kind customers. It's a super small space and could easily get stuffy or be a drag the staff is always nice and in term, the customers are always kind. If you are allergic to nuts DO NOT come here. They have false advertisement or maybe they're just ignorant. I have severe peanut and tree nut allergies so finding nut-free donut shops are very hard to come by. On their website's FAQ section they clearly state that their facility is a nut-free facility as of 2025. My excitement was through the roof! However, when I got there I saw multiple donuts with nuts on top next to all of the other "nut-free" donuts. When I asked the guy at the counter he said "everything is nut free except..." If they're going to say on their website that they are a nut-free facility that means nothing in their kitchen should have nuts. No cross contamination, no nuts, no exceptions. Otherwise it's a liability and a bold faced lie. read more

I am visiting family from St. Louis but always wanted to try this donut spot! I saw it off an STL food account and this donut shop has been in business over 50 years! We decided to go early on a Sunday morning- around 8am and even then the parking lot was completely full! There was a line out of the door, however it moves quickly. I am glad I looked online to get a sense of what they had because inside was madness. It's super super small- and there are typically 3-4 employees helping at one time. I really couldn't even see the donut case because others were standing in front of it. I picked a random assortment- a Chocolate Long John, Marble Iced Yeast ring, Glazed jelly filled, Sugar Jelly filled, Chocolate iced Custard, Chocolate Iced Cake and Sprinkle Chocolate Iced Cake. They have a ton of options, but they are all classics. Nothing fancy and I appreciate that. The donuts were all very very good. I really liked that the ones filled were actually filled- not half dough. It was hard to pick but I do think I preferred the yeast ones over the cake. But seriously you can't go wrong. Oh my goodness! When I tell you these are easily some of the best donuts I've had! I seen this location randomly one day on TikTok and had to try it out. Growing up it was a really big deal to get donuts on the weekends. We would always get them when I stayed over at my grandparents. As a result I still have a soft soft for donuts. Getting them is an event, and something fun that I do with my kids. I've been to a LOT of different places in St. Louis. Schnucks bakery is great if you just need quick, cheap donuts. Sometimes though you just want a step up from that. Without a doubt Donut Drive-In has been the best all around donut shop that I've been to. Prices are reasonable, donuts are huge and good, and the selection is varied. If you aren't picky you can get a premade dozen that will have a lot of the basic favorites (glazed, long johns etc.) . I'm partial to old fashioned donuts so I also go in and hand pick my donuts. There can be a line, but it moves quickly and I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes. As a bonus Donut Drive-In has very long hours. Although myself I'm a morning donut purist, the fact that you can stop in later at night to scratch that itch is just one more thing that sets Donut Drive-In apart from many other shops in town. read more

Unbelievably delicious. I just had a regular donut with frosting and sprinkles on it. The dough was like eating a soft pillow of happinessand enjoy.
