It's been a couple years so I thought I'd add an update. Not much has changed, this place is still amazing. These are the best donuts you will ever have! These are the lightest, fluffiest, tastiest donuts you will ever taste. I cannot explain the texture but it's not your average donut texture. It's a thick donut, but not heavy. Light weight and almost airy. Not chewy, melts in your mouth. Also their chocolate frosting is delicious and there's always just enough on each donut. More of a thinner glaze than a thick heavy frosting. The long john is my top recommendation, but I've never had anything bad here. I've had glazed, chocolate cake chocolate frosting, vanilla cake chocolate frosting, blueberry cake and an apple fritter. Their blueberry cake is perfection, I love the glaze on the outside. This is a small mom and pop type shop, don't plan to dine in. Grab your dozen and head out. Also, get there early. By mid-morning they've sold many of their donuts and you won't have the best selection. Chocolate long johns are popular so I try to get there super early for them. They can be sold out by 9am. read more

With my first visit the glazed shot to Favorite, Best, #1 alongside the glazed at Old Town Donuts (Florissant and Cottleville). Baker's Dozen was recommended by a Yelp! friend who said it had the best donuts in the area. I can't disagree. Old Town has an impossibly light glazed donut. The Baker's Dozen version is a little less light but has a distinct and pleasing lemon flavor that doesn't overwhelm the sweetness. The old style shop has an assortment of fritters, crullers, and cake sweets that have been hand made from scratch for over 40 years. I'll be back. read more

Get there before he sells out! Neighborhood bakery. Family owned and operated. Small place with big taste. There is a signature taste that cannot be duplicated. You know how donuts taste like...well...donuts but nothing too special about the recipe? Well there is something really delicious going on here. Fresh, different varieties, and sometimes something unique. I recommend any of the glazed and the cinnamon twist is seasoned perfectly without being overbearing. I like the blueberry glazed too! My son wanted donuts and normally we go to one of the grocery stores for them. Wanting to try something new, I typed donuts in yelp and saw Bakers Dozen. I was very happy that this place came up. I always feel better when I can help a small business out. Normally I don't get any for myself, but I decided to get a few. Once I had my donut, I wound up going back and getting them for our local fire department, they were wonderful! They were the kind that just melt in your mouth without being overly sweet, i had a chocolate long john, my son had a fritter (it was about as big as your face!) Even my 12 y/o son thought they were much better than the normal ones we get. I didn't know that was possible, to someone his age, I thought a donut was a donut. The owner of the shop waited on us and he was great as well. Customer service isn't always the best these days, but he really aced it! Any time I am asked to bring something to a meeting, I know where I'm going. read more

Would definitely recommend this place. Colleague brought in two dozen and did they smell great! They had the standard variety, but I didn't get to try the apple fritter (only one). I grabbed the cinnamon twist. It looked great and tasted even better. It was amazingly fresh bit was soft, light, tasty, there was glaze, but it want overly sweet. Definitely a delicious donut. I also grabbed a cake with chocolate frosting. It was also very good. The chocolate was good, there wasn't too much but it had a nice chocolate flavor. Not like some other places that have this odd chocolate taste. The cake donut itself was good. It was slightly crispy on the outside but moist and delicious on the inside. If you are looking for your classic, no frills donut shop... this is it! Not a huge variety but they have the staples, and some you don't see everywhere (lemon). They could have had more variety when they opened though, I went in around 7:45am on a Tuesday. I ordered the chocolate cake donut and a cinnamon twist. What a GREAT little donut shop. This is a classic donut shop, something few and far between, so we're lucky to have it around the corner of our house. Donuts are delicious and fresh, with some great options - normal yeast and cake options - both bring me back to my childhood. It looks like a hole in the wall, but walk in and enjoy. Speaking of Jesus, I found the best donuts in town here at Baker's Dozen. They are an old school, family owned little shop on Page. These guys know the difference between the over-hyped so called donuts (ahemm...Strange Donuts = strange tastebuds; so gross!) that everyone's raving about and a proper actual donut the way God intended. The donuts here fluffy and oh so right. No hype, no nonsense, no hipsters. Just awesome fluffy legit donuts. The glazed ones have the right amount of glaze on them, the filled ones have the right amount of filling in them, and the frosted ones have just the right amount of frost on them. They don't have any of that bacon, cereal, cookie dough, peanut butter, pizza topping experimental LSD influenced BS that all these hipster joints are on. AND each donut is 70 cents. Yes, it's real. Not $4-5 for an insane science experiment that doesn't even taste good. If you are still on the Strange Donut kick, you are all sorts of brain dead from listening to Future's trash music. I suggest you get back on the righteous path and throw on some Jimi Hendrix 'Band of Gypsys' or 'Electric Ladyland' to listen to while enjoying the best donuts in town from Baker's Dozen. read more

Both front cases ans the racks behind are ~empty~. 9 a.m. and they're completely out of all filled donuts except for one apple and several raspberry. Only long johns, glazed twists, iced cake, and a solitary apple fritter left. I remember liking the donuts last time I was here and the fact that all of them are $0.70 is fantastic, but the fact that I'm now leaving to drive to the exhorbitantly expensive Vincent Van Donut for my sugar fix means that the only time I'll visit Baker's Dozen in the future will be on a ridiculously early trip to the airport when I can be assured they'll have a selection. read more

This place is yet another one of those places that I drove past all the freaking time but never stopped in at until recently. I decided to bring some donuts to work and got a baker's dozen for about 8 bucks. These donuts were solid, but not overly special. My favorite was the devil's chocolate cake donut. Aside from Lamar's (or is it Ray's now...) this is the only donut place that I know of in the vicinity, so check it out if you're jonesing for a donut. Even though I can't wait until we have Dunk'n Baskin Robbins combos here, I'd still choose this place over Dunk'n for a donut. read more

This donut shop used to be on my way to work from home. It's been quite a while since then but I was in the neighborhood in the morning the other day and I picked up a few donuts to bring to work. I really REALLY love this place! Every so often I stop by and get doughnuts for my team and they love them as well. They have their classics that you can find at most places but they also have an amazing blueberry cake doughnut! Don't pass it up, plus their apple fritters? They are light, but crisp, HUGE and amazing. Get there early to get some of their more popular treats. They have great prices, the owner is friendly and actually remembers you even if its been a while! They have a great selection and all their doughnuts have what I think is that 'perfect' crisp but melt in your mouth texture. The only reason I don't say 'they are the best' is just because if you get there past say 8 or so? You're stuck with the boring stuff, every SO OFTEN there might be a fritter left. I've been coming here almost every day on my way to work for a few weeks now and these are the absolute best donuts I've ever had! The prices are very fair and service is superb! You have to get here early because they will sell out very fast. This is a small family owned and operated donut shop so they don't stay open once they sell what they made that day. By the second time I came here they knew my name (although that might've had something to do with me having my name tag from work on). I have tried most of their donuts (except coconut because I don't like coconut anyway) and every single donut I've had has been delicious. I can't find a flavor that I don't want to get again. If you want donut holes you have to order in advance but it's definitely worth it for an office treat because they just kind of scoop them into a box rather than counting so you'll end up with a few more than you ordered. This is exactly the kind of business I'm happy to frequent! My only complaint is that soon I'm going to need a gym membership or something so I can keep coming here. read more

Living in Ladue, our go to donuts was the Schnuck's on Lindbergh/Clayton. Donuts were good enough and we had our friendly bakery lady, Denise who had helped our kids and us fill the box since they were old enough to gnaw on a chocolate long John. Kids got older, Denise retired and Schnuck's quality declined. As a matter of fact, I don't believe there are any Schnuck's left who actually serve donuts. The donuts are a help yourself, try not to get icing on your fingers with the tiny napkins while propping open the plexiglass cabinet and navigating the lid on the cardboard box. Well...the frustration came to a head. I needed to shop out a good ol' fashioned donut shop. Found it! There was a small line but went quickly. Great assortment of classics and they really do give you a baker's dozen. Light, fluffy and fresh! You can tell they change their grease appropriately and take care in their preparation. I brought home a dozen for the family and ordered a cinnamon roll on the side for the short trip home. The kids are now older so breakfast for them comes around 10, 11, 12...so dad had to hit a few more donuts. Didn't have a single disappointment. Glazed, iced jelly and maple glazed apple filled all were very enjoyable. This will be a "go to" for donuts for this household going forward! read more
