I really liked this place. I had it twice while in Eureka, a Saturday morning and a Sunday morning. Both guys who rang us up were very friendly and knowledgeable. The place is huge, so you could come in with a large crowd and be able to have long talks without anyone getting mad. They have awesome art work here too and it just seems like a nice place to hang out. The coffee itself was very good and the coffee chocolate fudge was also tasty as well! This coffee shop keeps you in the spirit of Old Town Eureka. I love the exposed brick wall inside or you can take your coffee outside and sit at the tables to enjoy the sun. We were excited that they had a Brazilian coffee and it hit the spot! The blueberry muffin was a sweet counterbalance to the coffee flavors. I would definitely try the other items on the menu. I'm not sure if the bathrooms are closed to everyone because of Covid or if it is always that way, but there are no bathrooms for paying customers. We're visiting Eureka this weekend for business, and we needed a nice place to sit down and burn some time/get some work done. The atmosphere of this coffee shop is fantastic, nestled in a nice part of Old Town/Historic Eureka. The staff were two young women who were really kind and helpful in recommending places for dinner. The baked goods weren't necessarily anything to die for, but they tasted good and did the job of fighting off the sweet tooth. I liked the freedom with coffee customization! The decoration of this place is one of my favorite parts. It's a unique but comfortable brick building with a lot of natural light and lamps. If I'm nitpicking I personally didn't get a "coffee shop vibe" from the music they were playing (electronic pop) but I enjoyed it nonetheless :) read more

This place smells delicious and looks soooooo cute inside! They have lots of great selections of sweets, teas, and coffees to choose from. We got a green tea which had a nice smoky flavor and a coffee. Both drinks were delicious. I was not hungry for something sweet when we were there and none of their savory options seemed enticing enough to try so never tried the food there. If I was to ever go back I would definitely try their waffles and one of their chocolate sweets because both looked and smelled really great. read more

Standard coffee shop, kinda underwhelming. Mexican mocha tasted like plain hot milk, no spice or chocolate. Lox bagel was just cream cheese and salmon, not even capers (I'm used to lox bagels having cucumbers, tomatoes, onions and capers too.) Light roast tasted burnt. A very solid choice for coffee in Old Town Eureka. This place has the "standard" features: drip, espresso, various steamed milk concoctions. I especially enjoy that they always have a variety of roasts available, and those roasts are on a rotating schedule. One week it's Colombian, the next you've got a nice Ethiopian available. Food is available here, and I've seen people order it, but I haven't partaken. Looks to be decent, and the prices aren't that steep. Nice place with lots of room. Two separate rooms, one main for purchases and a few tables, another large room for groups, laptops and such. Items ordered were... Iced tea-nice Latte- Very nice, good foam and a strong shot that was surprisingly not bitter and very smooth. Very impressed. Hazelnut Latte-not too sweet and just the right temperature. Vanilla Soy Latte-average, nothing remarkable Biscotti-Large selection but $2 a piece. Kinda pricey for a dry stick with frosting...but tasty anyway. Good feeling of community there. Staff was friendly and smiled. Parking a little tough, probably have to walk a bit but it's worth it. read more

I used to love going to this place to do work or study, but they just recently changed their Wi-Fi set up; you now have to buy something to receive a token that allows you access for one and a half hours of Internet access. After those one and a half hours is up, you have to buy something else to continue having access to the Internet. Still a great place and is one of my favorite environments overall to work, but I don't go there as often now because often times I need to work for longer than an hour and a half and I'm not motivated to spend more money to do that. read more

OK, I was reading other reviews and had to post my own... The coffee is great! 100 times better than Starbucks and Dutch Bros... if you post you actually like those coffee places you have no business reviewing coffee... There chain businesses that don't give a C**p about how the beans are actually roasted and ALWAYS come out burnt. That's like saying McDonald's has better beef than a steakhouse. So to those who said they have better coffee I ignore you and write this, The coffee here was great they take the time to roast on site and do not over roast like the above mentioned chains that do not care, "coffee" sludge pushers. They have diverse blends and each with different subtle notes I really enjoyed. So thank you for keeping it real coffee and having a comfortable non pretentious atmosphere. Keep up the great work. I love the gluten free breakfast bagels. You can get avocado instead of sausage. Coffee is good too. And they're always friendly to me.

If you are COVID aware, don't go there. The coffee and pastries are fine, but I did find it disconcerting that people are able to sit inside reading or being on a computer for as long as they want without a mask on even after they've finished their drink or food. One day I decided to stop by with a friend and see what the fuss was about. She recommended the Chai Avalanche, so I tried it, and liked it. Then she got herself a Humboldt Mud, a coffee and chocolate blended drink, and I told myself I would try that one next time. I went back another day and tried it, and loved it. So far I have bought about five of these. They are so addicting. The place looks very nice, and though it takes longer for your drink to be done than the average coffee place, it is worth the wait. read more

Man this place was way cool. Me and some friends were up there over labor day doing some camping and decided to take a ride up to Eureka to check it out. Well we found this coffee shop and really enjoyed it. the coffee was great, the biscotti was excellent. i wish it was closer to my place. The inside was big and had lots of seating, free wi-fi, games for people to play and places to put the laptops if you wanted to do that. next time im up that way, i'm definitely going back for coffee. read more

Had a really nice experience here on a recent trip to Eureka. The store itself is really neat, with brick walls, high ceiling, and a historic vibe. This place is ground central of the Eureka coffee scene: Counter-culture goth types, hipsters, laptop life-casters, the occasional street urchin -- they're all here, along with an appropriately aloof, cooler-than-thou staff of college-aged barristas. The ambience comes to you courtesy of brick wall-hung paintings, simple wooden furniture, zombied-out laptop pilots and XM radio -- often tuned to '80s music. At nighttime Old Town Coffee and Chocolates takes on a Van Gogh Night Cafe-sort of feel -- light glowing eerily from its windows, with just the hint of danger in the air. Maybe it's because the rest of Old Town is dark and shuttered early, whereas this place stays open until 11 p.m. or so, serving a mix of trench-coat types and late-night students. Tl;dr: Good coffee, poor service. Staff ask to change to easier order, orders not prepared when promised, order once completely wrong and contained things I'm allergic to. Products are awesome, customer service is severely lacking. Once, a cashier asked me to choose a different item because he didn't want to bend down to get it. I thought he was joking until he groaned and slowly retrieved my scone. He's mentioned his bad knees every time I've asked for something out of their case, and asks "are you sure?" most of those times. I understand having injuries, but you need to be able to do your job or take the time to heal. The scone was at waist height, not on the floor. Like I said, I enjoy their products so I've special ordered coffee as well. It took three employees before they could figure out how to take a special order (which they advertise). When I arrived to pick it up on the day they had told me, it had not been prepared and I had to wait half an hour before it was finished despite being told "give us ten minutes and we'll have it for you." I continued to give them the benefit of the doubt until my most recent visit, which led me to write this review. I was the only customer at the time and the cashier helped me decide what to get on my wrap. When I received it, not only did the wrap not have what I asked for, it was completely different and had ingredients I'm allergic to! Luckily I noticed soon enough to not have a reaction, but I had taken my wrap to go so then didn't have lunch. I will continue going here every once in a while for the coffee, but absolutely not for the quality of the staff. read more

Omg i just love this place .. best waffles and vanilla chai I've had in Humboldt as well as other yummy options. This spot can get pretty crowded so I recommend going early if you like SPACE or if you can't beat the rush then just grab your drink and food and walk a few blocks down and grab a bench by the water to take in the lovely view. The staff is awesome.. some actually know my drink of choice by heart and the atmosphere is very laid back... this is probably the only coffee shop I will simply chill at by myself or with a friend. read more

As good as a coffee house gets. The location in old town in convenient and the old building has great character. I like to bring guests here on the weekends before going out to breakfast or for a tour of the historical part of town.
