Plenty of paid parking around. The place is pretty large and the service is efficient and pleasant. I ordered #6 3/4 (Garden Tofu Tortilla) and it was huge. Instead of toast, I got black beans (as well as the potatoes). They also have multiple hot sauces, nutritional yeast, and spike seasoning. The portions are really good, especially how affordable it is. And the flavors are awesome. I also ordered a side soup (they had 2 vegan and GF options which is unheard of). My husband and I are both gluten free so when I saw that Old Town Cafe had gluten free pancakes and sandwiches I knew we had to stop here while driving through Bellingham on the way to Vancouver. We were seated quickly upon arrival and they have a cute waiting area for kids to play while waiting for a table. Our server was very friendly and gave us water and menus quickly. I ordered a gluten free BLT with a side of butternut squash soup, my husband ordered a gluten free tuna melt with chili and the kiddo got a GF teddy bear pancake with a bowl of fruit. Everything was absolutely and completely delicious. You couldn't even tell that our meals were gluten free. They use Great Harvest bread and it had a great texture and wasn't too dense. The tuna melt had a bit of heat from jalapeño with the perfect amount of tuna and the BLT had the perfect proportion of ingredients. The star of the meal was the butternut squash soup. All I can say was, I could have eaten a giant bowl of it! The kiddo loved his pancake and the fruit tasted fresh. The old town cafe is awesome. I've been eating their food for 30 years and it's healthy and delicious. This review is about their outstand response to Covid though! Throughout the Pandemic they've followed the science. I loved arriving today and finding that they now require vaccinations for indoor diners (see my photo). Might lose them a customer or two but I hope it gains them dozens for every loss). They practice good restaurant hygiene as they always have but aren't playing the "Covid Theater" game with a focus on hand sanitizer (long disproven as necessary or effective) instead of a focus on free flowing fresh air. Great airflow indoors along with commercial air filtration. The outdoor dining is kind of palatial, super well built with open sides. No BS like many other downtown Bellingham restaurants who essentially built enclosed restaurants on the sidewalk with zero airflow. Am I impressed by the Old Town Cafe, you betcha! read more

I had the breakfast burrito and asked for potatoes on the outside. I was concerned I wouldn't be able to finish it but it was not huge and I ate it all. Went here because of the vegan options plus overall review was good. I'll say their lattes and drinks were amazing! One of the best coffees and teas I've had. Food portion was good for the price but the taste was so so. It could have used a lot more seasoning to make it great, I had to use additional salt, pepper and hot sauce to get it to taste right. The vegan bacon was an odd one. Don't think anyone at our table would recommend it. Service was rather quick and great tho! read more

This place is what I think of as quintessential Bellingham. Kombucha on tap, everything locally-sourced and homegrown, posts for yoga classes and sound baths on the bulletin board. We arrived around 11:30 on New Year's Day so there was a bit of a wait; they have you write your own name down on the list and mark if you're open to the communal tables. We were, and I think that helped us get seated faster. Their coffee is delicious; our server said it's brewed especially for them by a local place. The food was also really good; I ordered the Greek omelet with a side of home fries and sourdough toast, and it did not disappoint. My omelet was just the right ratio of feta to veggies (spinach & kalamata olives) and the toast was perfectly buttered. I love potatoes in general, but the home fries had a nice seasoning to them. This place has great options for various dietary restrictions, as well. They had at least five different tofu scramble options! The only downside was that there's only one restroom, so there is pretty much always a line. Oh, and they were out of the kombucha on tap so my friend had to order a bottle instead - not really a big deal. I'm glad I don't live in Bellingham because I feel like I'd eat here way too often. read more

Our server brought us two coffees, and when my boyfriend said he didn't order one we felt awkward. I asked for sprouts, avocado, and bacon in my 1 egg omelette and it didn't have sprouts. An absolute favorite for our whole family! There is a kids area/waiting area that kids can wonder too if needed. Our daughter gets the teddy bear pancakes every time and absolutely loves them. She loves seeing what fruit will get used to make the teddy bears face! My husband and I love the tofu options for breakfast (Southwest Tofu Scramble and Tofu tortilla are delicious), but everything on the menu is honestly great. Food always comes out at the perfect time...not too quickly but you never feel like your waiting). They carry flying bird botanical tea, which is local and delicious! Staff that work there are always wonderful as well! For as popular as they are, they always manage to get us seated quickly. The atmosphere is cozy and we always feel relaxed there. Other cafes in Washington and Oregon do their best to duplicate Old Town's menu, but nobody does it justice. The tahini mushroom gravy deserves a place in the Smithsonian. We tried to be patient and wait but there was no seating, and waitresses walking right through you with no "excuse me" or anything. The vibe was rude, not friendly, and just seemed like everyone had the morning blues. When I asked how long they told me to "look around".. after dealing with the smart ass remark and the intense smell of dirty urine we decided to leave. I can't say we will be back. Old Town Cafe is a community/family feel breakfast spot in a great location right on the outskirts of City Center. I decided to drop in on a Sunday around 9am for my breakfast fix to be surprised by a line and roughly a 30ish minute wait. I wasn't bothered by the wait, as waiting to be seated regardless of open seating is a common occurrence in most restaurants in Bellingham. Once seated, I was greeted with a friendly smiling face and excellent customer service all around. Food and coffee arrived in a reasonable time from ordering, my coffee cup never went empty, and I received a few check-ins. I ordered the two eggs, home fries, chicken sausage, and rye with a side of a fruit bowl and ginger kombucha (Yea yea... I'm sure you are picturing me wearing flannel too). My over-easy eggs were cooked perfectly in light oil which was the first thing I was impressed with. My home fries were full of flavor and not over salted which made me happy.
