Unfortunately, the service was very poor. My friend ordered bacon and ham with his meal and got bacon and chicken sausage. I ordered sour dough and bacon, told them to make the bacon crispy, just this side of burned. I got wheat and bacon that was close, but wasn't crispy and they also cooked my friend's bacon the same way mine was, which he didn't want and didn't ask for. A very long line if you get there at opening but it is well worth the wait for a table there. Excellent service with servers making constant rounds and great decor throughout the restaurant. The food took a little while to bring out but it's totally understandable with how crowded they are and it's food worth waiting for when it arrives. Great portions and flavors that will leave you satisfied and with a full stomach on your way out. Except for the egg. Dunno if the person is classically trained or just bloody good at eggs, but the next time I'll ask if they can make a French omelet. I went here for breakfast and I loved it I got the Number Nine with ham and fried potatoes. The poached eggs and biscuits were perfect, I loved the cheese sauce, and the ham had a nice flavor, the potatoes were ok not bad but not outstanding but what do you expect from fried taters. Service was great and fairly quick for such a busy place, when I finished my first drink I didn't have to wait too long for my second. It's noisy and there's a lot of people, be prepared to wait for a table, if you go alone I recommend choosing a bar seat so you'll get seated faster, I was able to be seated almost immediately that way. Old town (this place) and Yolk over on the coast down in OR are fighting for best spot I've ever been for breakfast. This is now my Sunday spot while I'm here. Nice "parklet" for outdoor dining. I had the NW tofu scramble and hubs had the blueberry pancakes/eggs/bacon. Both of us were fully satisfied, and despite some initial grumbling from him about $3 extra for the blueberries, he was very happy with the quantity stuffed in those cakes. Restaurant is older, with small section of seating in the front with larger tables and additional seating in the back end. Nothing fancy it nice, but had good service with friendly staff. I ordered the Garden Salad with Chicken and Sourdough toast - it was awesome! They serve all organic, fresh food and from locally sourced ingredients, when possible. The salad was huge and filled with lots of yummy veggies. I thought I'd end up taking some home, but finished it off! We come here every time we go to Bellingham because we love the food and service. Simple, healthy omelets and the best hotcakes I've ever tasted. The service is always friendly and the decor is that inner city funky old building feel that celebrates the last century. A good setting for an R Crumb comic. The only reason it didn't get a five is the coffee, which has that burnt flavour that Starbucks coffee has. If you like that hint of turpentine you will love their coffee. read more

Wow Seriously the best breakfast I've had in awhile! I came in on a Monday morning (it was a holiday so it was busier than usual) and I was impressed every step of the way! I had a short wait but the staff worked quickly to get everyone seated. I started with a chai tea latte- it was just the right balance of sweet and spicy! For my meal I had scrambled eggs, bacon, and home fries. I subbed a buttermilk biscuit instead of toast- totally worth it! It's not going to be tough to write this review. There was about a half an hour wait on a Friday morning when I went into the Old Town Cafe. I figured it might be longer because it's a small, homey place within a couple of blocks of Bellingham's waterfront. The sort of place where you write your own name on the waiting list and the folks who work there know you're not a local because they know all the locals. Then I had the Second Best Breakfast I've ever had. The omelet was perfection. The sourdough toast was fresh (and made just down the street) as was the strawberry jam. The potatoes were excellent. I've come here before. This time I'm returning and fighting stage IV cancer. So my diet I watch more closely. I came in and Rachel greeted me. She was kind from the start. I then shared with her that I'm watching my diet closely because I'm fighting cancer. I get nervous to share that because it can be a hassle to some servers. She AND the kitchen were SO kind and gracious. She literally sat at my table and went over the menu with me and the cleaner options. Oh my gosh you guys! STILL as great as I remember! Except THIS time, I am even more grateful for this delicious food because it was served with a great big side of kindness too. I checked out the Old Town Cafe for breakfast two mornings in a row based on all of the great reviews on Yelp! It did not disappoint! Both mornings I had a medium (2 egg omelet) with spinach, mushrooms, jalapeños, onion, green chiles, and pepperjack cheese. One morning I added four strips of bacon and an organic whole grain English muffin, the other morning I added two strips of bacon. And water and coffee both times. The omelets were tasty and filling. I absolutely loved the English muffin and the locally made Red Raspberry jam they provided. It was sooooo good! The menu is packed full of organic food options and many appear to be locally sourced. Service was prompt and excellent. The place is not the cheapest of options for breakfast. One word of caution - they do not accept American Express. I realized upon my second visit that I was out of cash and had to go find an ATM to get cash to pay my bill! read more

We were given luke warm water in an old wine bottle and could see all of the old finger prints from whichever table used it before. I asked to have it refilled and she used a dirty bottle from, another table and filled that. Best breakfast in Bellingham, hands down! Well worth the wait to get in (usually on the weekends). This downtown cafe has a cooperative vibe, with everyone helping out where they're needed. The service is excellent and the fresh, mostly organic food is amazing. The home fries with fresh herbs are always perfect.
