Old Mill is using a thinner steak in an effort to cut their costs. Unfortunately this destroys quality since the cook has no idea how to cook these thinner steaks. The same piece of meat can range from rare to hockey puck. My fried shrimp were incredibly salty. The crab claws were not good. The French onion soup was way too salty also. Get a new chef or we won't be back. Absolutely not worth the money. read more

Really good steaks. The rest of the food is good. The service can be a little slow and rude at times. Just depends which waitress you get. The atmosphere feels old, but I guess thats why it's called OLD MILL. Lots of seating, just get there before 5:00PM or you'll be waiting around for a seat. It won't let me leave zero stars. It has been 20 yrs since I last ate here and it will be longer than that before I return. Service was awful . Food was even worse. I would have got better from a from a frozen box at a gas station. Zero atmosphere. Very sad that this is considered a good dining experience I Dothan Alabama. read more

This was an amazing place to eat!! I had the grilled shrimp with baked potato and Caesar salad. So good!! We had the fried mushrooms for an appetizer. Best ones we've had!! Our family was driving around Dothan....not WANTING to eat anywhere....but knowing we HAD to eat somewhere. :-( We have three kids, we were tired, and didn't feel like dealing with much. We were very presently surprised with Old Mill. Their staff was super nice, their atmosphere was calming. Blue crab claw appetizer was excellent. Yeast rolls dense and heavy but good. Salad over dressed but not terrible. My first ribeye came out overcooked. The second one was perfect and tasty. Service left a lot to be desired. When my second steak came out the waitress told me that the kitchen said I should have ordered it cooked less than I wanted because they had a tendency to overcooked. In Dothan on business and met friends that came by and picked me up for dinner. All the major chains are in this area and they take me here. Yes you walk in and it's outdated. I ordered the 10oz Rib Eye and Blackened Grouper with a sweet potato. First, the yeast roll they bring are very good and yeasty and tastes even better when sopping up the steak juice. The ribeye was cooked perfectly medium and was a good cut of meat. The grouper was outstanding and I didn't leave anything on my plate. I came back the last night before going back home and to check consistency, which is always a challenge for a restaurant and had the ribeye with blackened shrimp. Steak was as great as before and the shrimp was super fresh. As I was leaving I see a seafood truck from Panama City leaving from back. If I had another night I would order the red snapper or grouper... I enjoyed both meals here. Nothing fancy, just a good solid dinner, albeit a little pricey when combining grouper with steak, but beef is thru the roof and I don't have a boat so it was a pretty good deal. read more

Old Mill is one of our favorite places to go for seafood in Dothan. The steaks are good too. Fried shrimp is always excellent, not too greasy at all. I really like the fried crab claws as well. The last time I was there the service left much to be desired.. but hoping it was just an off night. The decor has not been updated, but it's clean and well-ran. Had a rehearsal dinner at the Old Mill in their private party room. The staff was fantastic and the food was great. One of our guests said that the steak was the most tender he has ever tasted. Most definitely recommend the Old Mill Ice Cream Pie - delicious! read more

Went for lunch. Ordered Grilled Grouper with baked potato. Waitress chose s salad for me as my other side. I went along with her. Salad was some yellow lettuce, small slice of tomato & 3 croutons. Also the outer end slice of red onion that I normally throw out. When my entree came out, the "baked potato " was cooked but barely warm butter didn't melt. The best thing was the small piece of grouper and the yeast rolls. For $19.99 not s good deal. Having recently moved to Alabama I've still yet to find a decent place to eat food that isn't fried or a buffet. Won't be back. read more

Great service. Food was well prepared and came out hot. Restaurant was very clean. Staff was great and friendly.

We arrived tonight at 8:36pm (Wednesday, 7/3) because the time online said Old Mill was opened until 9pm and saw at least 3 tables inside with people eating. The girl/ hostess working the front locked the front door as we were walking up to the door. I know she saw us because she went around back behind the counter and tried to get out of site. I knocked on the front glass door anyway because closing time was listed as 9pm...and I wanted her to have to tell me they were closed. She unlocked the door and stuck her head out and asked "carry out?" Knowing we didn't have a carry out order. I asked "are y'all closed? We thought y'all closed at 9." She replied "I'm just waiting for a carry out order to pick up," and ignored the fact that she probably wasn't supposed to lock the door until 9pm. It was very rude. Red Lobster closes at 9pm too on a Wednesday night and we arrived at 8:46pm, and they welcomed us with open arms. read more

For nearly twenty years we frequented this restaurant but plan not to return. We endured an exscruating wait of nearly two hours and when finally seated discovered numerous available tables unoccupied. Even after addressing the delay with management, no apologies or accommodation was made. Once seated, the salad served was mushy and old (which was sent back) and the service sluggishly unprofessional. Regular clientele were placed on an indefinate hold over reserved parties that took priority resulting in the inability of staff to accommodate regular returning customers. This restaurant appears to have lost its concern or appreciation for it's loyal customers and seems to have lost it's way by placing greater faith in its anticipated volume over essential customer relations. Overall my final experience resulted in a hefty bill with poor service and mediocre cuisine. Arrogance and full disregard for loyal customers is a failing business model that eventually will enlighten the most passive of clientele to find other venues. $194.00 for three adults and one child was essentially wasted an fraught with an evening of frustration met with rudeness, sloppy service and mediocre food. Be smart and avoid the disappointment. read more
