Ribeye with mashed potatoes and garlic biscuit
    Rhett B.

I have heard about El Dorado steakhouse through the years but really never had a need to drive to Headland. On my way to Atlanta, this is where my brother chose to stop. I'm not complaining because it is a steakhouse! The decor has the boots and saddle theme going strong. It is very clean and feels like a steakhouse. The menu is pretty simple with steaks, some appetizers, pasta, chicken, and seafood. But with it being a steakhouse, of course, I'm here for the steak! I chose the 12oz Ribeye at $20.99. It tasted very close to a steak I would grill myself at home. It was cooked perfectly medium to my liking. The other amazing part of my meal was the garlic cheese biscuit. That was a truly phenomenal biscuit and it was a shame I only got one. I asked my waitress which sides were made fresh. She really talked highly about the broccoli but I was having none of that haha. I went with the mashed potatoes because they were made fresh. Unfortunately, the mashed potatoes seemed to be lacking something. They were ok. I thought the desserts were made fresh at El Dorado but the waitress again told me they were not. I ended with chocolate pie which was like a Hershey's pie from the freezer of a grocery store. Not bad but I could have went to a store and bought a whole one for the price I paid. Pie was a little frozen though. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! I liked El Dorado for the steak. It holds up well when compared to Conestoga except Conestoga cuts it's own fries. But if you are looking for a good steak, El Dorado will satisfy you.

Food was great steak cooked properly. Try the jalapeno poppers jelly. Server was quick and friendly

I had the t-bone (couldn't eat half but really wanted to), and hubby had blackened chicken pasta. Both were amazing!

One of the best steaks I have ever eaten. Friendly staff, and great food you can't ask for more. We will definitely put this on our frequent stops on the way to the beach!

Overpriced for a so called steakhouse that doesn't know how to cook a steak to the temp you request. Expect to send it back.

The hostess seated us within 5-7 minutes of arriving but we did arrive around 5 pm and I suggest this unless you are prepared to wait. The place looked clean and the noise level was medium. The seafood platter I had was cooked to perfection and well balanced with taste. I will get again. One friend had the shrimp and grits and she said it was the best she had ever had. My other friend had the prime rib and he said it was moist and he would have it again. The crab claws we had as an appetizer were out of this world! Fried to perfection and hot. Kudos to all and we will return! Merry Christmas and a successful New Year!

Now, it's run down and not good at all. I ordered gumbo and it was filled with tiny crab claws, I fished out about 10 before giving up and not eating any more. The lettuce on Ceasar salad was old. We also ordered the chicken fettuccine and it came with frozen processed chicken, we knew the chicken wasn't grilled, it was chicken pieces from frozen packaging. The worst part is I got violently sick the moment we got home, and the next morning, my partner was also sick. I highly do NOT recommend this restaurant.

My wife, our 3-month-old daughter, and I came in expecting a relaxing meal, but instead we were made uncomfortable the entire time. She repeatedly spoke rudely, even after we had already acknowledged her, and at one point pushed our cups out of the way when bringing our main course instead of simply asking us to move them. The overall energy at our table felt negative and uncomfortable, which is not what you expect when dining out with your family. What really crossed the line was when I watched her look at us while we paid on the table kiosk, laugh after seeing the tip, and then talk negatively about us to another coworker. That was extremely unprofessional. Toward the very end of the meal, her attitude suddenly changed and she tried to be nice, which felt forced and only after realizing her behavior had likely affected the tip. Had the service been respectful and professional, the tip would have absolutely been generous. We came here to enjoy good food and a peaceful meal, not to feel disrespected. Again, the food itself was good, but the service and overall experience were awful, and that's disappointing for a place we expected better from.

Our server was great but harried as she had to wait tables on both sides of the restaurant. We started with the trout dip, which was delicious. There was a long delay between appetizer and entrees, but again, busy! I had the snapper Ponchatrain, which was honestly one of the best fish preparations I've ever had! Blackened snapper on a bed of delicious grits with a topping of crab and an amazing sauce made for a spectacularly yummy dish. My husband had a disappointing experience with the country fried steak. The steak was overdone and the breading didn't stick to the steak. Just not at all satisfying. We will be back but will choose our entrees more carefully next time. The food is top notch, but pay careful attention to what you order and you'll be happy with your meal!

We made reservations online and I would highly recommend you do especially for the weekend nights. Their bar area is first come first serve, but we've definitely been there when it is completely full so I wouldn't count on it as a backup plan. It is all street parking in this area and on a busy night. It can be hard to find parking unless you go down a block or two. We started with the okra, french fries and they were delicious! They come with a Sriracha aïoli which gives a little bit of heat, but it balances nicely with these perfectly fried okra fries. It also feels like there's cheese inside of the fried so you get kind of those gooey us along with the okra. Important to note no sliminess! My husband got the steak frites. The steak was definitely thinner than we recall having in the past, but it was perfectly cooked and the seasoning was great. The grits were also really delicious as well, although he wished they would've been just a little bit creamier. I opted for the southern fried steak, which comes on a bed of horseradish mashed potatoes. There were a ton of mashed potatoes on that plate and honestly kind of overwhelmed the steak. But the steak was really tender. I love the breading, although there were certain portions where the breading felt, it was almost too much as it was super crunchy. My husband got the KBC old-fashioned. He always asks for a little bit of cherry juice in his cocktail and the first round, It definitely was more cherry juice than it was liquor. The second one he asked him to just bring the cherry juice in a small container so he could control it and it was much better. I had their peach cocktail and it was absolutely delicious. Very easy to drink, but full of flavor with peach and ginger.
