Food has declined but the service at the counter ordering was more like unbelievable. The guy taking our order was so rude and brash I got the impression he didn't want to take orders and was very unruly with my wife when she asked for gluten free. This coming from a place that prides itself on a existence gluten free menu. The manager was understanding and corrected my wife's order when she received it not as described. I had known about Hots Deli for years but never gave it a try until I met a friend who worked nearby. The big thing about Hots is that they take a more healthier way to prepare their food. For example, I chose wings and they came baked. They were actually pretty good. But the one problem I had was there was minimal sauce on my wings. I chose Mango Habanero and if I hadn't asked for some extra on the side, I would have revolted. The Mango Habanero was also the most mild form of the sauce I've ever had. I had potato salad for my side and was satisfied with it and my sweet tea was refreshingly sweet. I would eat Hots again because it was good. They just need to work on their sauce game. read more

Friendly service and the interior was nicely done, but the food should be the focus and unfortunately the Reuben I had was not a great representation of what that sandwich should and could be. Price wasn't bad, but the sandwich was a bit lacking on the meat and was pretty much not very good. The soups looked interesting, though I thought the sandwich would be enough. read more

This is the 3rd time here and l have to say sadly the quality had gone down somewhat l asked for their toasted Italian. What l got was barely toasted with a very good salad with fresh ingredients. I gave them 3 stars because the salad was as spectacular as the sandwich was disappointing. For the third time in a row l found the soda fountain dispensing either intermittent air or diluted drink. One of the employees told me the syrup canister wasn't empty, so essentially, "l am wrong!" I told her to taste the drink because l drink it out of a can all of the time. Again she pointed to the canister and said, "it's not empty." I would also like to add that my ranch dressing was watered down. Too bad, this place used to have such great food. read more

A deli with no grill! That explains my mediocre Reuben sandwich today. If you've ever had a real Reuben sandwich you know that the outside is toasty, & sitting on the grill makes the cheese melt and the whole sandwich warm. You're not gonna get that here. Also puzzling is the Cuban sandwich. All real Cuban sandwiches are delightful because of the sandwich press that grills & warms them. Their's is a regular sandwich. When we're in town, Hots is a frequent choice for lunch. Always good food! It also helps that Hots is one of the few restaurants that goes out of their way to ensure that people with an intolerance to Gluten can safely eat there! Understanding this, they specifically offer a Gluten Free option and deliberately prepare that food so that there is no cross-contamination. These efforts are greatly appreciated!! When you want to take a family member out for lunch, it is refreshing to know that they won't be in agony after lunch because someone touched their meal with something that touched regular food. It's also nice that we all enjoy the sandwiches. And it means that family member doesn't feel like she is imposing on everyone else with her restricted diet. These are things that can't be measured! This place is #Dope. Im for realz. This is my flavorite place in town to eat. Best sandwiches in town. Whenever i don't know what i want to eat, Hots in my go to. They food is consistently good and no matter how busy they are I've never had to wait very long. My favorite thing to order is the chicken salad sandwich. I must warn you though that it does not come with lettuce or tomato, so if u want that i think it cost a little extra. The Sicilian sandwich is also very good. I haven't really tried much besides those two sandwiches because they are so good. They also make real good brownies if you are real hungry, but just the half sandwich is enough to fill you up. I don't even order a side and I've never left hungry. If i was gonna suggest someone a place to eat in Dothan this would for sure be one i mentioned. read more
