Service is amazing. All the waitress' are super sweet. As goes the food, I got the Reuben and fries. So so good! Ranch is to die for.

The philly is a great choice and they also have good sweet tea! great service and atmosphere

The Basketcase Cafe has been around Dothan for quite a while. For lunch, they specialize in serving sandwiches, soups, burgers, pasta, and salad. I had a friend who told me that I had to try their beef brisket sandwich. I had some doubts about trying what is not considered a BBQ joint for their brisket. But I trust my friend's judgment. I have to say his judgment and mine are not the same. The sandwich wasn't bad but I had some trouble with it. The brisket was not tender or juicy but more on the side of being overcooked. I thought the sandwich was small for the price I paid ($8.95). It came on a better than average hamburger bun. I have never had lettuce and tomato on a brisket sandwich and it seemed out of place. Onions and pickles would have been a better choice. The swiss cheese was a nice touch. Instead of BBQ sauce, it came with a creamy horseradish which was good. I did ask for BBQ sauce when I ordered on the side and the staff forgot about it. I had to remind my waitress. The sandwich was eh...edible. Skip the brisket sandwich and go to a BBQ joint. The sandwich came with potato salad which was unique. It had a creamy dill taste to it and made with red potatoes. It was quite good...except they gave me a small scoop of it. My friends with me looked like they had better luck than I did. My brother got a burger which looked good but my friend ordered the blackened chicken pasta. The pasta looked amazing to me. If I go back to Basketcase, that would be what I would go with. Basketcase seems to have potential for good stuff. I have heard rave reviews about their soup and pasta. But based on the brisket sandwich, the portion size I received for the price, skip the brisket. read more

I ordered Jeff's pasta and I was highly disappointed. There was no sauce on the pasta so I was presented with moist, bland penne, chunks of nearly raw onion, and tiny pieces of diced, over cooked chicken. The pasta was overall flavorless yet looked to be covered in some type of seasoning? It was cheap so you get what you pay for. I also had a slice of peanut butter pie which was too rich & thick enough to choke on. The place was quite busy when I went in during lunch though. read more

Our lunch group has really enjoyed Basket Case since they put blinds up on the front windows to block the glare. They have the most scrumptious soups in town. Their Creamy Tomato and Corn Chowder are so good you will hum while you eat! Mmmmmmmm! I always order the Reuben, it has an inch of corned beef, cheese melted and running down the sides and very fresh-tasting sauerkraut. Simply the best Reuben I have ever eaten. All the members of our group have tried most of the menu items with the same results- delicious. Great place for a few or a crowd for lunch. read more

I love coming here when I come to Dothan. It is one of those places that is always good but does not have the frill of the chain places. I make sure every time I come to town I stop in for a burger. This last time the service was not as good as the last time. read more

While I love the Basketcase for lunch, they produced an EPIC FAIL with their Valentines Day dinner. This was an advanced reservation only dinner, as the Basketcase is usually only open for lunch. For an average of around $30 per person you would think that they could manage warm, made from scratch food in a charming environment. Unfortunately this was not the case. First off, there were no decorations other than pink table cloths and a plastic condiment cup with six cheap sweet tart candies. For a special event dinner they could have decorated a little. The atmosphere was barren and cold, the lights too bright and they had all of the ceiling fans on high when it was in the 30's outside. Secondly, after waiting for nearly an hour, we were served room temperature/cool food. My boyfriend ordered the pork chop and I chose the Prime Rib, medium rare. When the food finally came, my steak (less than half an inch thick and grayish in color) was medium well and the au jus was so cold that the fat had congealed on the top. The cool scalloped potatoes were obviously from a box mix and the veggies were just barely above room temperature. We sent back the first plates and waited nearly 30 additional minutes for our food. When it came the second time, the only thing that was warm was the au jus for my steak. Everything else was still just barely warm and once again my steak was overlooked. At that point we decided that we would have to try another restaurant and went next door to Firestone Grill. We had beautiful Prime Rib, cooked to perfection with delicious sides and outstanding service, for nearly half the price. During the day the Basketcase does a great job with lunch. However, I will never book a dinner or after hours catering here. There is obviously some kind of disconnect with the night kitchen staff and quality. read more

We go there for lunch often. I have never had a bad meal or experience. The deserts are really great. My favorite is the peanut-butter pie. The prices will not break the bank and I have never had trouble finding parking. read more

My husband and I have been dining at the Basketcase for years! We especially LOVE the Tomato bisque soup and the chicken salad sandwich and plate. We love the carrot muffins with icing! And there is a fantastic gathering room at the back of the restaurant that is great for meetings! read more

Not sure what's going on but I called a few days ago for a takeout order during my lunch break at work. They told me they could take my order but it would be at least an hour before it was ready. I couldn't wait that long since I have a short lunch break. Literally was going to order a cup of soup and a muffin but I guess that would take over an hour? This place is known for its soups and sandwiches. So that is what I got. They were out of all but one soup, tomato, which was fine. Except that the soup was very bland and the sandwich bread was dry with no flavor or style to speak of. Did not enjoy my food here. read more

One of my favorite lunch spots in town. My favorites include the chicken caesar salad, chicken fingers and fries, or Jeff's pasta (penne pasta, chicken, mushrooms, onions, and tex-mex seasoning).
