Cooked to perfection, not greasy. The fries , slaw, and hush puppies compliment the main course very well. Wish they had red snapper or scamp, but that just being greedy. Once I arrived I was told it was 27 dollars so I asked why I was told 21 dollars and change over the phone she said no it's 27 and some change. I then paid looked at the food and Im disappointed to say the least. Catfish looks fine but the shrimp size is ridiculous as is the fried oysters. Never again will I make the mistake of eating there. I even asked the lady this is all you get for 27 dollars she said yeah had I not already paid I would have walked out.

Broadway opened in the early 90s in Ashford. This is truly where the locals eat in the small town…read moreof Ashford, AL As a local from Ashford, it never fails for me to run into someone I know. I can say over the years that I have ate here, I have never been disappointed. It is a cafeteria like the name implies. Last time I was there, there was at least 4 meat choices to chooae from. In the cafeteria price, dessert and your drink is included. For me, that meant an entree, 2 vegetables, cornbread, sweet tea, and banana pudding was $8.50 plus tax. I have definitely ate at more expensive cafeterias over the years. If the cafeteria does not suite you, there is a menu. My entree today was BBQ chicken, oven roasted type with a wonderful, home-cooked taste to it. Cornbread was pan-fried and flat. Green beans were what you would expect. But the star of my plate was the potato salad. It was chilled, with the right combo of mustard and mayo and a smooth texture. I wish I would have chose a double helping of it over the green beans. No surprises with the banana pudding and my sweet tea was refreshingly sweet. There is an employee that checks on refills and cleans the table for you. Broadway cafe is a solid choice for a cafeteria style lunch if you are near Ashford.

Everything is blackened and heavily seasoned. I think the thing that threw me off the most was the place is dusty and filthy. Not a little dust but enough to coat absolutely everything in thick dust. When you spend 100 dollars on 2 meals a beer and a sweet tea you have higher expectations than a filthy place. Plus the bathrooms are so small you can barely move in there. It just a really old run down restaurant. Plus they only take cash or check. I wasn't happy. We drove an hour here cause everyone said it was the best. We won't make that trip again.
