The crab claws were mostly flavorless breading, my grouper was overcooked and bland, the grits were a huge disappointment. My son ordered the chicken alfredo. Second tennis tournament trip to Dothan, and future trips will routinely feature dinners (plural) at Old Mill. The food was excellent. Dark, echo-y and the gumbo is overly salty with crab claws in it. That means you have to find the crab claws, remove them, and scrape the crab off. The fried chicken was dry and fatty. Not recommended. read more

The Old Mill has been a Dothan tradition. It has been a mainstay in the community for years. It's decor is pretty simple and looks like the way it sounds. It is very clean and nice. My entree for the evening was a prime rib with fries and salad. The first part of the meal was the homemade yeast rolls. Best rolls ever! Nice, soft, fluffy, and goes well with butter. Nothing like Texas Roadhouse or Logan's rolls. Salad was pretty basic- lettuce, cheese, tomato, cucumber, crouton, and red onion. The best part was the homemade ranch. Prime rib was prepared excellent and the au jus and horseradish was a good complement. Fries were good but the frozen variety. My meal was a 5 star from the Old Mill. If you are searching for food, it is a good choice. If you are looking for an experience to go with your meal, you might want to consider elsewhere. read more

Asked about this place at my hotel,& front desk said it was really good - especially seafood dishes. I started with the gumbo, which was very flavorful. It is filled with vegetables- so the seafood is not the star of the dish - but from a flavor standpoint it was very good. Had the shrimp & grits, and it was really good! Parmesan cheese sauce topped the grits, and there 8-10 decently sized shrimp that had a unique smoky flavor adorning the edges served with a slice of toasted bread. Very flavorful, portions are good size, and price is just right. Good food - good value! And....the staff was fantastic! Very friendly and helpful. Overall very nice experience! read more

The food was hot and fresh. The service was excellent. My wife and I split the Steak and Shrimp plate and ordered fries, baked potato and broccoli as our sides. They cooked our steak exactly to order and the complimentary rolls they bring out as an appetizer were fresh and delicious. OMG! I am a frequent business traveler and decided to check this restaurant out while in Dothan (takeout). I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED!! To my surprise...EVERYTHING exceeded my post flight expectation. I had the ribeye, veggies, baked potato and salad. WOWZERS!! The flavors were so awesome I actually ate the peppers (and I never do that). Per usual I rolled into town on business and hit up Yelp for some grub, I landed on old mill. Got there asked to sit in the bar and they allowed it. Waitress came in short order and took my drink order and was cheerful and delightful. I ordered the swimmer and bull, I think they called it grouper and steak, it was on point. I got the broccoli and veggie skewer and they were really on point. I didn't want that I wanted some fried taters but wife said I was fat so I ate the veggies and they were great. Love this go-to restaurant in Dothan! The atmosphere is warm, the food is the freshest you can get, and the service is always attentive and I honestly couldn't ask for more. This wasn't a WOW experience but it wasn't bad either. The restaurant was clean and well maintained although outdated. It is fair to say that they are not going for high ratings in the ambiance department. I had the crab claw dinner (4 oz portion was plenty!) and they were some of the largest crab claws I have ever had. The breading was a little heavy but overall pretty good. They have grilled veggies as a side choice and they were super yummy. If you are a bread person you will like the rolls that they serve. For all of you Pokémon Go Peeps not only are they a pokestop but they also give free items based on your level (I am a level 15....I know know...I have teenage boys...and I got a free order of cheese sticks). Moved to Dothan, from the West Coast, to live near a lady friend of mine. This is my favorite restaurant in this big town so far. Been here three times, twice for dinner and once for lunch. Loved the professionalism of the waitresses and the food for dinner. The lunch that I had was fine, but the service wasn't as good as those two times that I went there for dinner. Traveling for business, I had two different ribeye steak dinners over two nights. The first night I ate at Longhorn Steakhouse, the National chain. The second night was at the Old Mill restaurant. I ordered the "Outlaw ribeye" at Longhorn and it was juicy with amazing flavor, I didn't need to add anything to it. The ribeye at Old Mill was not so juicy and I kept adding pepper, salt and eventually steak sauce to try and add flavor. The baked potato at Old Mill came wrapped in aluminum foil and the cheddar cheese was dark and hard, like it wasn't fresh. Sour cream was delivered in a plastic packet, like a fast food ketchup packet. The baked potato at Longhorn was bigger, fresher and had more taste. The decor at Old Mill is old and very plain. Nothing you would be proud to bring your wife or a date too. They are in desperate need of a Chef Ramsay makeover. The hostess at Old Mill seemed like the teenage daughter of the house greeting you, without a smile, wearing blue jeans, an around the house top and a sweater tied around her waist. There was no ambiance and no music. I primarily listened to a very loud kitchen staff banging pans, laughing and joking. This will be my first and last visit here. read more
