Imagine being the type of company that doesn't back their product to the extent of someone a buying new wood floor and having the manufacturer say you ruined them in 6 months by USING A WOOD SWIFTER. Well if that's what you are looking for than look no further than Garrison collection. Of all wood floors I've had, NEVER have I seen delaminating and especially not to this extent. This product is trash and now I'm stuck with $8,000 worth of it in my new home. Edit: There was never a moment in my speaking with the claims department that I stated to have used a WET SWIFTER. I used a dry swifter with the wood swifter spray. The fact that they are even coming back at my review with that is repulsive and I'll spend as much time as possible recommending people purchase floors elsewhere. The second point is to make consumers aware that this is NOT a durable product as stated. It is delicate and was misrepresented. read more

Unlike many places that are understaffed, Old Master products makes it super convenient. They are efficient from the front desk with Jackie, Angie, Maggie, David and the rest to will call. As we all know time is precious and being efficient as they their team is, you are out of there in a breeze. This is for the Van Nuys and Glendale stores - We and our pups are very happy thanks to Old Master Products! My husband and I needed a super strong hardwood floor (we have 4 large dogs) and I wanted to look at the floor in person before buying it. I know that everything can be done online or over the phone nowadays, but I'm old school. I still need to get my hands on something before I hand over my card. Anyways, you'd think more stores would have their floors on hand for people to see before buying ... BUT NOPE! Old master products was the only one near us that had a showroom where we could see everything they sold. We went to the Glendale one first just to look around, then met with our contractor at the Van Nuys store later that week and decided on canewood. My floors have now been installed for almost a year and I'm just as in love with them!!! My four big boys are rough housing while I write this (just as they have done so for the past year), yet the floors are going strong and somehow still look brand new. I really couldn't be happier! When I get a chance, I'll update this with pictures of our floors and very happy pups read more

I recently had the pleasure of working with the team at Old Master Products while looking for and purchasing Garrison vinyl floors for my home. From start to finish, the entire experience was seamless and stress free. They also had a great selection of colors on hand that I was able to look at while there, with the products I was looking for in stock. When I went in to ask questions prior to buying my floor, Josh in the showroom listened to what I wanted and helped me find a few flooring options that would be a good fit. He also connected me with a dealer near my condo that he knew carried the flooring, where I was able to make our purchase. Josh also connected me with an installer, who purchases his supplies from Old Masters! We ended up with Naturestep in the Hazelnut color, which is beautiful and everyone thinks is real hardwood. I've been sitting on writing this review for a few months now and I am still bothered by my experience so I'm writing a review. When I first walked into the store/showroom (which was under construction and extremely loud and disorganized) I was greeted by one of the female sales associates, the men of course all ignored me. She was nice and showed me the flooring I was looking for, but could not answer my basic questions. I am a thorough researcher and had questions about the different types of finishes on the hardwood - mainly what the maintenance would be for the oiled wood floor. I was told that I could use any wood floor cleaner like Bona - this is completely incorrect information, but didn't know it at the time. I then asked for some samples to take home and I asked for samples that would show ALL the variations in the flooring. She was super nice and brought me three samples of each color/collection hardwood. Unfortunately they were not in any way varied. Once they were starting to install I noticed knots that look filled in. Although I am overall happy with the flooring I was definitely not expecting those weird knots. Shown in photos. The other thing that still bothers me is the price quote. I asked for pricing information but was told they couldn't give it to me that my contractor would need to call. So she called and was given a price for each of the flooring. She called on a Thursday or Friday and then discussed with me. When she called to order the flooring on Saturday they either were not there, were closer, or were ignoring her. She left a message and no one returned her call. The following week once she called back again she was told the price had changed and gone up!! What!? Not only is that bad business practice but so rude. No one mentioned it to her and when she said she called on Saturday they told her she should have come to the store because they were open. He refused to honor the original price. Lastly, the installers. I assume they were recommended by old master - thank goodness for my contractor's project manager was there and I stopped by because they had some awful cuts. Marks and cut lines that ruined pieces, uneven cuts in corners. They had to replace several pieces, but only after I had to argue with them. Anyway - do your research and I'd look around for another distributor that sells the same brand. read more

UPDATE. My reply to customer support: "Why are you telling me about restocking fees, which I said nothing about in my review? I specifically criticized your restrictive 30-day return window, which is the shortest window I have ever seen from a home improvement retailer. I'm a homeowner, not a contractor, so maybe there's some other contractor-specific place with whom I'm not familiar, but in my experience, the SHORTEST return window I've ever seen anywhere else is Floor & Decor, which is 60 days, but the standard to me is Lowe's and Home Depot, which both allow 90 days. I have no idea who else your window is allegedly comparable to in the "industry." And why are you telling me to keep extra materials, something else I did not bring up? I ALREADY planned for that. I have more than enough extra materials. And yet I still have two extra boxes of wood beyond that, costing me more than $200, which I bought on my contractor's instructions. The delays on finishing this renovation project have been a nightmare, and this has been true for every home improvement project I've attempted. By the time the work gets done, the 30-day window is past, period. And therefore I feel ripped off, because this is material that you still keep in stock and I would not have had a problem paying the restocking fee." read more

Staff here is great and the product is good quality. The business practices are very shady especially with their return policy being 25% restocking fees and when you return something you will never ever get the credit back to your credit card without having to call at least 2 to 3 times to cattle prod them into processing it I can't imagine how many clients and corporations actually get screwed over by these guys when they don't check to ensure that the refund was processed. It is my allegation that these people who own the business intentionally refused to process refunds until the client actually catches on and forces them to. The company is also big enough for any class action lawyer to force them to reveal their refund records and collect a tidy sum in legal fees doing so.. Hmmmm . read more

I'm leaving this review specifically for William. We came into the store with a small piece of laminate floor from our home that was done few years ago. And we needed few planks to replace. We had no color name or type name. He took his time to look up when it was purchased, brought in samples for the perfect match. Went above and beyond to find what we came looking for. While we waited he provided us more information about the products they sell and new custom ideas they had at the show room. He was so helpful and so kind and most importantly smiled the entire time and was happy to help. We visited this location with our contractor while we were narrowing down our choices for floors. I don't remember any names, but the people working there that day were so helpful and knew their stuff. The employees also helped us rule out options that wouldn't have worked as well for our home. We didn't feel rushed or pushed to pick something out. Instead, they explained the basics and showed us why a floor may or may not be the right fit. We were sent to Old Master by our contractor, neither of which I'd use again. We purchased Acacia flooring because we were told it's the hardest wood and would be best with our dogs. The floor was scratched up within the first week. I'd be okay with scratches, but they were white on dark wood. It was as if the finish was too thin. Then a month after we installed the flooring, the finish started to blister. Someone from Old Master came out and "tested" our floors with his moisture meter. We were told the finish blistered because of moisture on our slab. BTW, the moisture meter went off when the rep placed it on my perfectly dry dining room table. Needless to say, they wouldn't honor the 25-year warranty. I had a couple of planks sitting out on the edge of a planter for over a year. The finish was fine on those planks. We just wanted the damaged planks replaced but couldn't get anywhere with either Old Master or our contractor. The products sold here is substandard. I don't recommend purchasing from them. Go elsewhere where a flooring contractor knows what they're doing. read more

Old master stood by their promise & product & replaced my floors that were failing. John Hunt was who we dealt with during the whole process & he was very kind & on top of it. As it turns out, we had a bad mill run of wood but couldn't be happier now! Our floors are gorgeous. For our replacement we choose the DaVinci Cascina. They're beautiful wide plank white oak. I have to say I was very impressed with the service I received from my sales rep, Albert, after a critical misunderstanding with the specifications on my original order. I needed 9/16ths or 5/8ths overall thickness which is what the samples were we based all our design on. When the flooring we ordered arrived it was 1/2" which was a total bummer. Old Master had discontinued a line of floor and the samples we were given were from that old line. The new line that replaced it was 1/8th thinner. So I went in and asked Albert for solutions with no time to spare. He went to work and found me an excellent substitute in Old Master's Garrison II Distressed line that was more expensive than my original purchase. He couldn't quite get the price matched but he got close enough to make it work for me. He also waived any delivery charges and he had the load delivered the next morning, as promised. I'm very grateful to Albert and Old Master Products and can't wait to start enjoying my new wood floor. read more

I was about to buy 20K worth of hardwood flooring from these guys and thank goodness my instinct kicked in before I purchased anything... During my two experiences at the store with my floor installer, I couldn't believe how rude the sales guys were. Their knowledge of each kind of flooring was minimal and prices were outrageous. After a few visits to other local wood flooring stores I quickly found much better prices and better service. Very disappointed with the French Connection by The Garrison Collection floors we installed in our home. Within a couple of weeks of installation, they began to crack and "check." The parent company, Old Master Products, blames this issue on damp mopping the floors to clean up dry wall dust by our contractor. The real issue is due to dust and dirt sticking to the finish and the finish not creating a waterproof barrier, thus absorbing moisture. These floors do not have an easily maintainable finish as promoted by the distributor Emerson Hardwood Floors and as advertised by the Garrison Collection. Please be aware that while these beautiful floors might look great in a designer showroom they are unsuitable for their intended purpose and should never be installed in a family home. read more

Be wary of this store. Their samples do not accurately reflect the products. If you do buy through Old Master Products, ask them to open a box from the lot you will be getting and look at the actual floors. If you put the sample by the actual product, they will admit they need to update their samples. That said, I encourage you to find another retailer. The staff here is dismissive and unhelpful. They won't acknowledge your presence until they are ready to give you about one minute of their time. I went on two occasions and experienced this same service even though there was only one other person in the store the second time I went. In short, look elsewhere. read more
