We had a wonderful experience with The Floor Center. We had a long scar in the floor of our 1940s home that had been poorly patched when someone had removed a wall long ago. Robert's team led by Carlos laced the wood back together (they had to take up a larger part of the floor because the boards didn't line up perfectly on either side of the old repair) and were able to reuse many of our existing boards to do it, you can see the new wood over by the wall in the collage. They sanded the floors down and prepared three stain samples (bottom left photo of the collage) based on colors we picked from a fan book they loaned us. The bottom right photo is the finished product and we couldn't be happier with how the floors turned out! They took great care of our home, using plastic to cover the openings to the kitchen and all vents so the dust didn't end up anywhere it shouldn't, and cleaned up the remaining dust when they finished. The stain is Nutmeg from Duraseal on red oak hardwood, with a Satin finish polyurethane sealant. read more

I'd had a flooring disaster, where a contractor laid LVP over bamboo, and installed my kitchen on top. The bamboo was suffocated and it buckled and got moldy underneath and started to push my LVP floor up. At first sign of trouble I decided to find the highest rated wood floor company in Burbank for help. Robert came and instantly knew what was going on without even demoing the floor. He kindly provided reference material for me to present to my contractor to prove he was at fault. He answered questions here and there while I fought my contractor to take responsibility and fix the issue and after a quick-fix failed, it was a no brainer to me to use Robert and his team to start again and get the job done right. His crew included Jason who worked like a craftsman to surgically remove the two layers of old flooring from around the footprint of my kitchen cabinets and entire ground floor area. The challenge was to retain the clean look of our new kitchen, avoiding trim to hide gaps, even though we were removing almost an inch of flooring and replacing it with 5/8' hardwood. We opted for a moisture barrier, an additional cork layer to try to retain the same height and then a beautiful, rustic looking engineered hardwood floor. I can't tell you how happy I am with the quality of the work. Eduardo expertly cut the flooring and brought up the level of the flooring around the cabinets to exactly the same height. After adopting a new rescue dog that loved to run up and down the stairs, I realized I needed a plush carpet runner for my staircases for his safety (and my own joints, frankly). Within 2 weeks, my custom carpet had been shipped from the manufacturer in Georgia, expertly bound in the color of my choice (the beauty of custom anything is that it's cut and made to order), and installed by the amazing installer Benny. BENNY did the entire install himself with superb expertise: laying carpet over staircases is labor-intensive work (hammering, nailing, stapling, cutting the carpet and the rug pad to size, installing the wooden grip pieces -- it's harder than you think!) , and Benny was so respectful of my home and detail-oriented in everything he did, I could not have wished for a better installer. I honestly can attest that the two best things I have EVER spent money on for my home were: (1) my Peloton bike during the pandemic (the reason I stayed fit and sane) and (2) these custom carpet runners from The Floor Center!! The best home improvements are the things that improve function and comfort on a daily basis. After 40+ years of multiple mishaps on the original carpet in my condo, I had to bite the bullet and get a fresh new look. After dickering back-and-forth for months with Lowe's on their changing discounts from 35% off carpet and padding, during one rare promotional period, it was suddenly 50% off and 12 months to pay with 0% interest! The Floor Center just installed manufactured wood floor in my bedroom. It was a big job--about 30 by 15 feet, requiring precise cuts and fitting around a rounded edge and around brick. Robert the owner was helpful and twice I took home the samples boards. Jason, the installer was meticulous - explaining the "pattern" in the distressed wood and matching quarter round. Jason went the extra mile to remove and replace heavy awkward furniture to avoid scratching the new floor. We have bamboo floors that have suffered years of abuse from dogs, kids, sun, etc. I was told bamboo is sometimes not able to be refinished and I was actually thinking about replacing them. We took our time looking for our best luxury vinyl plank option and once we found it, Floor Center came through with a reasonable price but even moreso their service and installation was exceptional. They also identified custom solutions to some of our specific transition needs. In general, they answered all our questions and were responsive. Because we live in Burbank, they were close by and Robert was able to stop by, etc. if needed. Felt like a very personal feel. Upon initial installation, we actually discovered a manufacturer error on the product we ordered. After the first room was 1/3 installed, we noticed it wasn't quite the right color. None of us caught it to begin with and it could have been a hairy situation as 18 boxes of the wrong color were sitting waiting to be installed. Robert contacted the manufacturer and even went to their warehouse to confirm the error and got the product replaced. The floor was re-done, project started over without question. This could have been a service nightmare but it wasn't. Also shout out to Jason, our installer. He is very thorough with his work and went the extra to try and remove the squeaks from the base flooring as he went through the install.
